COURT ORDERS SEIZURE AND FORFEITURE OF 53 PROPERTIES VALUED AT K138M

The Lusaka High Court has ordered the seizure and forfeiture of 53 properties belonging to Pittscon Zambia Limited, a proxy company of a former high ranking Zambian politician.

The properties are valued at 138,600,000  Kwacha deemed to be proceeds of crime.

In a 40 paged judgment, High Court Judges PIXIE YANGAILO, ANNE ONONUJU and VINCENT SILOKA have ruled that the defendants have failed to establish before court how they acquired the said properties against their known incomes.

The Court has also established that Pittscon Zambia Limited was awarded four road contracts valued at over 264 million Kwacha works which were not executed.

The case against Pittscon Zambia Limited, EMMANUEL SIPANDE MUGALA plus six others was commenced by the Anti-Corruption Commission -ACC-.

And, Director of Public Prosecutions -DPP- GILBERT PHIRI says  the fight against corruption is on course.

Mr PHIRI said in 2024 alone over30 million United States Dollars cash and properties worth millions of dollars have been forfeited to the state.

  1. This is not enough. What effort was the Road Development Agency (RDA) making to recover its money for roadworks paid for but not delivered? Have the ACC done their best for the people of Zambia in this matter? I do not think so. The rot probably started from the RDA itself. The ACC have their work cut out.

  2. Explain to the Public how this US$ 30 million dollars that was forefieted was used. As it was meant for particular projects. If the roads or projects were not done. Let the money be applied to those projects. Alot projects remain white elephants

  3. A step in the right direction. If someone who steals a chicken or pig can be arrested so can be the person who has stolen millions of dollars through organised crime.

We need an equal justice system. Besides they are all called theives once judgement is passed by the courts of law.

One jumps over a fence in the dead of night while another wears a suit and conducts the corrupt transaction in a hotel using a black pen to sign off the contract. At the end of the day money is paid without any work being performed. It is the worst type of theft. Stealing from the future of the unborn.

Well done for the good work. We need more of this action.
