FORMER MINISTERS DIRECTED TO SURRENDER ALL GRZ ASSETS

ASSETS that include motor vehicles being held by former ministers should be handed to the Ministry of Works and Supply for safe keeping, Secretary to the Cabinet Simon Miti has directed.

Dr Miti also wants permanent secretaries to ensure surface tablets and phones are surrendered to Smart Zambia.Speaking when he officially opened the second senior public service management virtual meeting yesterday, Dr Miti said assets need to be safeguarded and serviced in preparation for use by in-coming ministers.

Dr Miti wants controlling officers to see to it that operations in their respective ministries run smoothly by not allowing disruptions in implementation of programmes. He also reminded public workers on the need to remain non-partisan ahead of the general elections.

Dr Miti said permanent secretaries should institute appropriate disciplinary action against officers who defy the code of ethics.“It is necessary that we all maintain our lane,” Dr Miti said.

Dr Miti wants public workers not to let the guard down to avoid the possible third wave of the novel virus. He said the meeting will also seek to find sustainable solutions to address fuel shortages the country experienced recently.

Dr Miti also said it is prudent to ensure sufficient measures are instituted to secure strategic food reserves to enhance security countrywide following the anticipated bumper harvest. He further reiterated the call on achieving zero-audits that include adherence to public finance management.

“Let us uphold the public service values and we will work towards achieving Vision 2030 and continue to work as a team to foster unity for the country,”
