I CANNOT BE COMPARED TO HH, I WAS A BETTER PRESIDENT – Edgar Lungu
2026 Presidential candidate Edgar Lungu writes;
This morning, l want to share with you and respond to Dr. Sishuwa Sishuwa’s quite long enough article dubbed: “How President Hakainde Hichilema is using lawfare to subvert democracy in Zambia” where he among other things suggests that “Zambia experienced democratic backslide between 2011 and 2021 under the PF with the deliberate use of legal mechanisms to weaken opposition parties”.
In his article, Sishuwa concludes that “Hichilema has orchestrated an assault on human rights and democracy to the extent that he must be treated like an “Edgar Lungu with a better PR”.
Honestly, I find this observation and conclusion both unfair and quite inaccurate as he (the author) seeks to compare our moderate rule then to HH’s “unapologetic lawfare” regime of today.
Reading this article as published in South Africa’s Mail & Guardian newspapers, I am shocked that he likens me to the current president-HH and I take great exception to this. Going forward I will advise bo Sishuwa to try by all means necessary to resist the temptation of having to compare apples with oranges as the two cannot be the same. Yes, I admit I had faults, but certainly not of this magnitude.
While I don’t dispute the existence of “Lawfare” in many jurisdictions, I don’t think it is suitable and correct comparison to mirror my political leadership as Republican President then to the current full scale authoritarian regime we have now in the so called UPND alliance.
The problem sir is that you were a president then, so, its very tricky and difficult for you to understand how you treated innocent Zambians. The people who tell you lies that you were a good president are the lazy people you used to give free cash in one way or the other.
I wish you could just seat quietly like Inonge Wina coz you don’t know how painful many of us feel just by seeing your picture. Though I understand you are human and MANY BAD things that were happening were not really sanctioned by you per say.
Otherwise HH is trying to control what you failed to do as human. Kindly Seat Down Sir.

From where I stand as a voter, you were an absolute disaster for our country and your disastrous rule will reverberate for generations to come. You corrupted every area of our lives, you even managed to corrupt the Catholic church, a feat no other president before you had managed. I won’t bother about the pentecostal “papas” because these were easy meat for you. One priest even advocated rigging the 2021 elections in your favour. That is how perversive your evil rule was.
The work ethic reached rock bottom during your rule and your “uubomba mwibala alya mwibala” philosophy encouraged politicians and civil servants and even the general workforce to engage in corruption and theft with abandon. Young people stopped valuing education because they believed you can live a better life as a cadre. It will take time to root out this decay.
Your family amassed immense unexplained wealth during your presidency while exposing our nation to a crippling debt burden, a situation we are still struggling with.
Your legacy is one of corruption, violence, laziness (holidays at the slightest excuse) and restriction of civil liberties. You, Mr. Lungu, are the worst president Zambia has ever hard and it will be very difficult for any future president to outdo your dismal record.
He will remain the worst president Zambia will ever have together with the IDIOTS who are writing this rubbish for him because he’s incapable of articulating any reasonable thing

JMC, I agree with your write up 200% plus. Lungu is in self denial. He is being cheated big time. Infact Lungu is behind HH by 100%. In 3 years, HH has done alit of projects in rural areas which Lungu failed! In town, Chingola Chililabombwe road, now Chibuluma road; Ndola Lusaka dual carriage way, Makushi road in Lusaka. Opening of Mopani mine; just to mention a few! As for Lungu, right now, ring road is bring re done because they chewed money.
