Macky 2’s Olijaba album hits 1mn streams in 24 hours on Boomplay

OLIJABA, Macky 2’s album which all music lovers had long anticipated has broken record as it is the first Zambian album to have hit one million streams in 24 hours on Boomplay.
The artiste’s “last album” has dominated social media trends from its release on Sunday as the majority of the people who have had an opportunity to listen to it have applauded the KMP signed artiste and the Alpha Entertainment CEO.
The celebrated artiste, through his 12-track album tells his beautiful stories about various issues with regards to family and how to be true to oneself.
Music giants such as his two siblings Towela and Chef, Hip Hop giant Slapdee, song bird Wezi, “king of RNB” F Jay and Yo Maps have featured on the album. Some international artistes such as South Africa’s AKA and Harmonizer also feature on the album.
The Olijaba album comes following his announcement on several platforms that he was going to retire from making music.
In one of the interviews, the artiste said he was going to retire to pave way for young upcoming artistes.
On whether he was going to one day seek public office, the musician who has been giving Zambians hits after hits said in as far as he was not going to take the political route immediately, the issue was not completely off the table.
Other than making music and being known for his consistence from the time he stepped on the scene, the artiste has been known to be among the most supportive people in the industry as huge names like Yo Maps have publicly testified how the Kopala giant has been of help in his music journey.
With regards to his retirement, some fans have argued saying that the announcement was a stunt aimed at drawing people’s attention. With all sorts of insinuations surrounding the matter in question, Zambians are yet to see whether Macky 2 has really retired or not.
