Ministry of information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo kawana mourns Andrew Ntewewe.

BITTER SWEET MEMORIES ABIDE.

We have bn in Lunga District of Luapula Province on the island, reaching out to our pipo and delivering development in line with our New Dawn Administration theme which is to deliver development to all parts of the country regardless of political, cultural and/or religious affiliation.

It was a joyous occasion and beautiful days since Thursday as our team of Permanent Secretaries consisting of PS Special Duties Mucheleka, PS Local Govt Nick Phiri, PS Green Economy Chibamba, PS Luapula Province Mumba, PS Energy Peter Mumba and Director representing PS Infrastructure together with Local Govt Commission Chairperson Ackson Sejani did not just visit the island for a day’s visit but stayed over spending nights with the villagers and sleeping in unfinished houses together with the dedicated Public Service workers deployed to the island.

The island is having it’s water canals (roads) weeded out, widened and deepened. Starlink internet is up and running, 100% delivery of school desks, clinic fully stocked with medicines and electricity bn connected to the island and onto the main grid. Farming inputs delivered in full and infrastructure projects abandoned since 2014 bn worked on for continuation and completion. The Chiefs are delighted at the sight of engineers moving on site to start construction of Chiefs palaces with motorized boats to be bought for them as their mainland counterparts get vehicles. The pipo and their children are all overwhelmed with joy over the care and concern shown by a Govt and President who got zero votes from the area yet takes real development they can touch, see, feel and live with unconditionally. A President for all Zambians indeed.

After hours of traveling on the waters and lake, I have arrived in Mansa in preparation for my routine dialysis session tomorrow at Mansa General Hospital. My mood is saddened by the news of demise of a galant son of the soil, a fighter who fought the condition of kidney failure and surviving on dialysis, a condition we shared and had healthy chats each time we met at UTH for our routine dialysis.

Last week, I left him at UTH after our session as he was admitted for an infection (usual in renal patients) and I was sure like always, he would get fixed up and eventually discharged. Our conversation last week was casual and full of laughter, little did I know it was the last time we would ever speak again. What a blow!

Go well dear friend and brother Andrew Ntewewe, you fought a good fight and ran your race. It’s time for you to rest in God’s care, I will miss you my brother. May your soul find eternal rest in God’s peace.

Farewell Ntewewe, it is well with your soul. We remain and continue to sing of the goodness of God, knowing fully that our day too is coming to join with you.
