No longer Open Courts, a Police State

Police have sealed the Supreme Court grounds and have refused entry to Patriotic Front leaders, including Vice President, Hon. Given Lubinda, Hon Nkandu Luo, Hon Silvia Chalikosa, Hon. Jean Kapata and those accompanying Zambia’s Sixth President, Dr.Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

We had made administrative arrangements to allow senior leaders to be in the gallery. However the Police overruled members of the Judiciary protocal officers, stating that the area is sealed and a security operation was in place.

Battalions of police numbering in excess of a thousand have sealed the Supreme Court grounds and surrounding areas and the place looks, intimidatingly, like a military garrison.

  1. The Police are there to maintain law and order, they are there for the people and not for the State. The State pays them for providing a service to the people, are you not happy that today’s sessions were incident free? That’s what we want, law and order and peace, we don’t want confusion and chaos. So the Police has done a good job and should continue doing so. We only have this country in which to live, if we become careless and ruin it, we shall have nowhere to run to.

  2. The sole called ambassador is a political disgrace, l now understand why the republic of south Africa felt he was not diplomat enough, he likes to talk about any topic and shows how much lack of understanding he has for all issues he tries to show knowledge about. I would advice ECL to be very careful with advice from such people because they are exposing him to the wrong elements, at the end of the day, it is ECL’s persona which is being brought to shame, why should a person of his stature, facing a case in court think he can just walk about without drawing unnecessary attention even risk to his own self. Mr ECL, such people will risk your own security if you continue listening to their floppy advice

    1. chumbumushololwa iwe, if anything happens to ECL on the street you will be the ones shouting the loudest.
