OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA ON PARENTHOOD

By Sean Tembo – PeP President and TONSE ALLIANCE Spokesperson

1. Good morning Mr President. I trust that you and the first family are doing well. Myself and my family are well and we are extending our warm greetings.

2. Mr President, first of all l want to congratulate you on raising such a strong young man such as Lt. Habwela Hichilema, whom, we are told recently passed out as an officer in the Zambia National Service. That is no mean achievement, and must be recognized as such.

3. However, Mr President, l am alarmed by some of the public pronouncements that you have made regarding your son, in the recent past. More especially your statement that Lt. Habwela Hichilema will not be getting a salary from ZNS.

4. Mr President, your son is not a boy anymore, he is now a man. And men have needs, both financial and psychological. If your son is not going to be earning a salary, then how is he going to meet his financial needs? It means that you will need to continue giving him handouts from your pocket, just as you have done from his birth.

5. The question is; for how long are you going to meet the financial needs of a grown man? And have you ever thought about the possible adverse impact on his self-confidence among his peers, for a grown man to still be relying on handouts from his father for his upkeep?

6. Mr President, l applaud you for keeping your family, especially your children, out of politics so far. But you are now reversing that achievement by allowing politics to interfere with the personal development of your children. Since your son has chosen to join the military, let him curve a career for himself in that direction. Let him earn a salary. Let him raise a family. Let him be his own man.

7. Otherwise, you risk turning such a vibrant young man into a sissy-boy who will never leave his parents home. You yourself are where you are today because you charted your own path at a young age. You earned your own income and started your own family from your own pocket. So why not give Lt. Habwela Hichilema the same opportunity? Why do you want him to be working for free and feeding off your handouts? Where is the logic in that?

8. Mr President sir, if you insist on the current path, one day in the future, you will regret this decision. When you wake up one morning and realize that your now 50 year old son is still living under your roof. Still relying on you to give him handouts so that he can meet his daily financial needs. But it does not need to end like that.

If, in retrospect, you now realize that your son being commissioned into ZNS has raised too much unnecessary controversy, then let him resign so that he can choose another career path. But whatever the case, let your son earn his living. Let him be his own man. You will thank me later.

  1. Ba Tembo HH has companies where he can put this boy.He is not there for money but to serve as a volunteer. To get that experience working with people which in achievement.Habwela will never be broke Sean, his life is covered. He might as well be going for studies abroad. What you are saying does not carry water.

    • HAAMUSONDA,

The riches of his father, that he amassed during privatisation of national assets, are not nessarily his. Do well to remember that his father has stashed his loot in Panama. The father knows this, and he has done well training his son to learn how to be responsible by sending him for ZNS training. This boy was indeed abroad but was allegedly deported due to drug offences and misbehaviour. So what Hakainde is doing is commendable to try and correct this boy. That is his only son, as far as we know, and the father wants him to take over the family businesses. But for the boy to succeed, he needs discipline otherwise he will blow his inheritance on drugs and women, or through bad investments. Whether this ZNS training works or not, let us wait and see.

So what you are saying is what does not carry any water.

      VOTE FOR CHANGE IN 2026.

      • Stop peddling open lies. Hakainde’s son was NOT deported for drugs. You cannot mask lies and malice just by adding the word “allegedly”. I challenge you to give details of his deportation date and cause. Such details would be readily available in the UK. Do not attempt to tarnish someone’s reputation just because you hate the father.

      • At least we are sure of 1 man who will be so badly disappointed in 2026 after election results are declared. There is no need to be hoping against hope when the writing is on the wall already.
If i may bet with you, should opposition win next year election, I will give you my cows, bulls and oxen named as:
        Haaaaamwiiiunga
        Siamwiiiiiiinga
        Shamwiiiinga
        Haaaalipapa,
        Haaabeeeenzu, and certainly
        Haaalndigo something.

        • HIICAAMBA,

OK let us make the bet. You will lose, and I will come to collect your cows. Prepare me some mabisi when I come so we drink together and laugh about it. No hard feelings my brother.

          VOTE FOR CHANGE IN 2026.

        • Please don’t make me laugh.
Some people never learn. Despite handwriting clearly on the wall, they still feel opposition will win.

      • Another Idiot from Congo Just like Muamba/Mwamba from Tanzania the man who recruited you, panyo panu.HH beat yo in 2021 and stopped you from looting or benefiting from public resources. You are a brain-dead neanderthal who Keeps on dreaming that pf is coming to pick you up from your misery.4seki Kasai go to Katanga

        • Ba MUSONDA. You sound like you experienced an airlock in your brain. All these insults! What are you trying to say?

Makunku has done a better job debunking HaaIndigo’s claims. Insults make you appear deranged.

      • Ba HaaIndigo, if HH’s son was deported for a drug offence or other misbehaviour, PF’s propaganda mouthpiece, Mr. Emmanuel “Goebbels” Mwamba would have had a field day. There is no way this would have happened and escaped the attention of the PF propaganda machine.

  2. Tembo why are you belittling yourself so much. You must know that ignorance is dangerous. Other people are not like you who eat everything and never leave a little. Remember what you deed in Botswana and you ran away. It is even wrong for you to be in politics. By Big Teembo

  3. ZNS, training offers alot apart from physique, discipline, orderlyness , skills, socialisation, good communication skills, sports, self and national defense, productivity and so on.Too many to mention.
Dr Kaunda came with this program for the purpose I have briefly hinted on above. When Dr Kaunda came up with the resettlement plan for the youth some people didn’t understand him.He said all the youths loafing about in the community shall be sent to resettlement schemes in kambilombilo and kanakantapa, some people reacted but to cool the situation he simply said he was joking with his people. Later the program started on voluntary condition and intelligent youths enrolled and were trained by ZNS, they attained the skills in farming and above benefits.Land was offered to them too.
This is exactly what President Hichilema has done to his son.I presume he will later empower his son with land and financial resources and he will be self-reliant and contribute to the food basket of our country. It is important for people to understand or listen carefully when President HH says something. The unfortunate thing is some people want to exchange their hate with important facts of development.Let us all emulate the President on this .I have actually done the same to my son but mine shall be on government salary until he decides to stop working for government by his choice. We must all congratulate the President and his son for this achievement.Congratulations Mr President and to you Lt H.Hichilema.

  4. For the first time Sinner Tumble has written sense. He remembers how embarrassing his public crying over 8dgerS demise reduced his status in society from man to juvenile.
