KBF Is Like A Foolish Poacher Who Thought He Was Nurturing A Sheep Out Of A Wolf – Sikaile Sikaile

0

ON 14 AUGUST 2020 THIS IS WHAT I TOLD MY BROTHER KBF

BELOW……..

KBF IS LIKE A FOOLISH POACHER WHO THOUGHT HE WAS NURTURING A SHEEP OUT OF A WOLF

There appears to be increasing panic by Kelvin Fube Bwalya, commonly known as KBF to become a President of Zambia by any means as he enters into a pact with Kalaba and Mutati.

If anything, KBF wants to create a group of spoilers for 2021 elections. This is a lack of patriotism to the nation and the reason why God is punishing KBF.

Some people easily forget that God puts them in certain positions to install sanity and save humanity. We should all understand that if you have a chance to sit in an influential office, use it wisely to leave a legacy that will make people appreciate you in the long run. Legacy that would have created positive change for humanity.

The case of KBF, shows how selfish some people in our politics are. The man deceived himself by thinking Edgar Lungu would be an easy ladder for him to climb on.

To me, he is like a foolish poacher who went hunting and found a baby lion (cub). The foolish poacher decided to get the cub so that he feeds it until it grows big.
When a wise neighbour sensed danger, he asked the poacher, ”baba what is this you are keeping in your yard?” The foolish poacher answered, ”I’m raising a dog out of a baby lion that I got from the bush”. The neighbour warned him on how much a danger the whole project was to the entire community but the poacher didn’t listen.

After some years, the cub turned into a big and aggressive lion and began to threaten the life of its keeper.

The poacher thought the baby lion would turn into a humble dog, but how mistaken he was.

This story best matches KBF who knew very well that Mr. Edgar Lungu can’t make a good leader. Most people who have no leadership in them turn to be very violent and corrupt. This is a self defensive mechanism and a complex. This is what we see today in PF under Edgar Lungu government all imposed on us by KBF and his friends at ECZ.

If KBF feels like he is a man enough, let him create his own political party, then go out to mobilize. He will then realize that the hell he created is functioning and it will be his final resting place in Zambia politics.

When KBF claims he has a vision of helping Zambia and turn to fight HH, does he really understand his vision? Or maybe, he is aspiring to become another HH?

HH is fighting to many battles, he needs God’s intervention, even his own fellow colleagues from the opposition parties wouldn’t want him to win the election at all cost, one does not need some spiritual powers to read between the lines.

This country must be careful and serious with national issues. There’s no way that criminals who have done so much harm today, return in a different cloth and claim to be our messiah today. Kelvin Fube Bwalya, owes the nation an apology . What role did he ( KBF) play in the 2016 flawed elections? We warned him several times not to aid the rigging but thank God he is now dancing to his own dirty works.

The man endangered the lives of Zambians when he woke up the judges at midnight to illegally IMPOSE dictatorship.

As a concerned citizen, I would like to state that KBF may be more dangerous than Mr Lungu. And he should not be let anywhere near the presidency of this country.

Today, we are crying about a rotten judiciary, it is because of people like KBF who went in the middle of the night to threaten judges to sign papers to validate Lungu’s questionable nomination as PF presidential candidate in 2015.

When Dr Guy Scott tried to speak out, these same people who are now crying foul insulted, vilified and called him all sorts of names to an extent of issuing racial remarks.

He’s on a similar trajectory to Haaland, and he’s already in demand

0

He’s on a similar trajectory to Haaland, and he’s already in demand 🇿🇲

While United will face tough competition for Haaland’s signature this summer, they could make a move for a player on a similar trajectory to the Norwegian star in Patson Daka.

Erling Haaland finally arrived in Manchester this week, although it wasn’t for the reason many associated with Manchester United would have hoped.

His Borussia Dortmund side took on neighbours Manchester City in the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night.

All eyes were on Haaland, as is often the case, and although he didn’t get on the scoresheet, he did turn provider for team-mate Marco Reus as the German side grabbed a crucial away goal.

That proved to be the 20-year-old’s 41st goal contribution of the season, a staggering return for a player so young. Therefore it’s little wonder that he’s constantly being linked with moves to the biggest teams from across Europe.

United remain one of the favourites to land his signature, yet with clubs such as Real Madrid, City and Barcelona also interested, it still remains to be seen whether the Reds will have enough appeal to see off those rivals.

With hindsight, United would have most likely made a move for the Norwegian international 18 months ago whilst he was still an up and coming prospect at RB Salzburg.

Interestingly though, whilst they can’t turn back time to make this happen, they could work on finding the ‘next Haaland’. To do so going back to where Haaland rose to prominence might provide the answer.

RB Salzburg, and the Red Bull group in general, is a talent factory. There’s no doubt about that. In recent times they’ve brought through Sadio Mane, Joshua Kimmich, Timo Werner, Dayot Upamecano and many more of Europe’s current stars.

The latest exciting talent coming through the Salzburg leg of the network is exciting forward Patson Daka.

The 22-year-old was tasked with filling the void left by Haaland following his departure in January of last year. He did so excellently and finished the season with 24 goals in 31 league appearances.

He’s on course to better that this year and has already scored 23 goals in just 19 Austrian Bundesliga matches. That breaks down to a remarkable 1.46 goals per 90 and comfortably blows his Expected Goals (xG) average of 0.97 out the water.

When you throw in matches in Europe and domestic cups too, then that goal total rises to a stunning 30.

He’s perhaps a little rawer than Haaland as a player and he doesn’t possess the same physical profile, standing four inches smaller than the 6ft 4in Norwegian. However, he’s still a powerful and quick striker who can give any defence a difficult afternoon.

There are of course a few things to consider if United were to seriously weigh up a move though. Austria’s top tier is of inferior quality when compared to the Premier League, meaning questions would naturally arise as to how that goal return would translate into a tougher league.

Additionally, Daka is attempting roughly 3.97 shots per 90 right now, which is high. At United, Bruno Fernandes attempts the most shots on a per 90 basis with 3.23. Could the Zambia international convert so frequently when being presented with fewer shooting opportunities?

That’s a question that most likely could not be answered unless the move happened. However, it’s also something that was asked about Haaland prior to his move to the Bundesliga, and we know how that turned out.

Beyond this, Daka is still young and his prime years are yet to come. He would cost United a fraction of what Haaland would, adding another layer to his overall appeal.

KBF ON HIS WAY TO POLITICAL EXTINCTION

KBF ON HIS WAY TO POLITICAL EXTINCTION

The much awaited press briefing of Kelvin Fube Bwalya (KBF) has with no doubt, disappointed many people. KBF has in the past been explicit that, without him being allowed to file his adoption papers in the ruling Patriotic Front (PF), there will be no convention of the party.

The confidence and clarity which KBF has exhibited since declaring interest to contest as PF President, has earned him a certain peculiar respect and admiration of a very large number of people. His words today, cast so much let down for those who expected him to give direction on how he intended to stop the PF from holding their convention now that he has been barred from filing his adoption.

It is understandable why many people are disappointed. First, KBF highly projected himself as a rare breed of politician who is discrete from the usual political characters we have today.

Currently, Zambian politics is a two-horse affair where on one hand, there is President Edgar Lungu and on the other, there is Hakainde Hichilema. Political space in Zambia is congested with novices good at making necessary political noise albeit, without distinct traits to marshal crucial numbers needed for them to be a robust force worth talking about.

Quiet clearly, the August elections are mainly about two parties: Edgar Lungu vs Hakainde Hichilema. The rest are just necessary ingredients to give us a democracy flare.

KBF emerged as a new kid on the block -articulate, fearless, well composed and critical figure who many expected would breach the two-horse political affair in our country. Had KBF decided to break-away from PF to form his own party, he would have seized for himself a good share of followership needed to break the two-horse political affair.

Today’s press briefing by KBF, which clearly showed that he will not be able to stop the PF from convening to declare Edgar Lungu as their presidential candidate, may be his high way to political extinction.

Only two scenarios are possible.
First, KBF will wait for the mandatory Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) nomination day to serve an injunction against the candidature of Edgar Lungu, on the premise of the alleged illegality of the ruling party’s central committee as well as arising from the arguments surrounding the eligibility issue. On eligibility, KBF will not win. That case has been decided – no matter how unpleasant one may look at it. On the illegality of the central committee to expel him, KBF will not succeed either.

This route is likely to yield KBF no meaningful results. It is not a secret that most of the people KBF will be looking up to, to interpret the law on the above two issues are appointees of President Lungu. Clearly, none of them will be objective enough to give a fair judgment on the matter.

Secondly, KBF will appear on the ballot either as an Independent Presidential candidate or sponsored by another party which he may have been having secret dark corner meetings with. This path is pointless. He has no time to galvanize the necessary numbers needed to upset things.

KBF is part of the animal he created in PF during the 2015 convention in Kabwe. He must have known better how craft and shrewd the ruling party is, that they would not allow him to file his adoption papers. Therefore, he must have made a political move much earlier than now, rather than waste people’s time with white-elephant bravery that has left too many people disappointed

Being Kambwili’s son does not disqualify me to stand in Roan – Mwamba Kambwili

0

BEING the son of Chishimba Kambwili does not by any means disqualify me from standing as a member of parliament, says Mwamba Kambwili.

In an interview shortly after successfully verifying his Grade 12 certificate, Mwamba said he was just as qualified as any other resident of Roan to contest the seat in the August 12 general elections. Mwamba, who studied in the UK, had his qualification from Babington Academy confirmed by the Examinations Council of Zambia.

He said sharing the same last name as his father should not in any way make him ineligible to stand as that would go against the nature of democracy.

Mwamba’s father served as Roan PF member of parliament from 2006 to 2016. He later formed the National Democratic Congress after he was expelled from the Patriotic Front.

The NDC went on to win the Roan seat through Joseph Chishala, who is seeking to defend his seat on the UPND Alliance ticket.

Mwamba’s decision to stand in Roan has however been received with mixed feelings, with some saying Kambwili Senior seemingly wants to pass on the baton to his son as if the constituency was a monarch.

But Mwamba said he was a man of his own standing.

“I would like to first and foremost confirm that I am an aspiring candidate for Roan Constituency. I am a Zambian citizen who owns a green NRC. I am a taxpayer and a resident of Luanshya. I am registered to vote at Nkulumashiba Secondary School in Roan Constituency. I am a Zambian youth with a succinct vision to serve and represent the people of Roan,” he said. “My father, honourable Chishimba Kambwili, the former MP for Roan, worked extremely hard and enjoyed a wonderful working relationship with the people of Roan. He made an impeccable legacy, one that saw him reign supreme against the might and power of an incumbent government.”

Mwamba said, as a resident of Roan, he sincerely appreciates his father’s works and generosity but feels it was time for him to continue where Kambwili left from.

Mwamba, a holder of a Master of Law from Coventry University, said politics had always been a focal point as both his father and grandfather had been in the service of humanity.

“My grandfather was the mayor of Kabwe at some point. My uncles and aunts have held different political offices, so this has been my upbringing. Politics runs through my veins, serving the poor and vulnerable is part of my identity and I cannot shy away from aspiring on the basis that my father is a former MP,” he said. “I am a man in my own right, a law professional with an astute education. I have been doing philanthropic work in the constituency for the best part of my life. I am a family man and a grassroots person who shares an extraordinary connection with the residents of Roan and Luanshya in general. I am a businessman who has employed hundreds of people at a tender age.”

Mwamba said leadership and grit forms his DNA and that if elected, one of his first assignments would be to build a school between Roan and Mpatamatu.

“I have run a successful education fund for the constituency which has helped thousands of students in the constituency. Using the connections earned as a student in the UK, I aim to expand the education fund by linking my former schools to local schools within Roan to help the Ministry of Education efficiently run and provide an enabling environment for young people like me to strive and strive for greatness,” said Mwamba. “To cut a long story short, I am standing as MP in Roan as I fully qualify. I have the passion and the drive to contribute positively to the development of a constituency embedded in my heart. It’s boots on the ground, akana Kambwili for MP. Game on!”

It remains to be seen if Mwamba would contest the seat on NDC ticket while his father has openly stated he will support President Edgar Lungu.

Economics Intelligence Unit is taking Zambians for fools – Changala

0

BREBNER Changala says the UK-based [contact-form][contact-field label=”Name” type=”name” required=”true” /][contact-field label=”Email” type=”email” required=”true” /][contact-field label=”Website” type=”url” /][contact-field label=”Message” type=”textarea” /][/contact-form] is taking Zambians for fools by consistently predicting that President Edgar Lungu will win the August 12 elections.

In its latest report on Zambia generated on March 30, the Economics Intelligence Unit (EIU)

expects this year’s elections to be the last in which the country’s main opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema is contesting.

The EIU believes that because Hichilema has already failed in five previous elections, there may not be need for him to stand again in 2026.

“The presidential and legislative elections that are scheduled for August 12th 2021 are likely to be the last polls that Mr Hichilema will contest as opposition leader, as he has lost five previous presidential polls, including two unscheduled elections that were prompted by the deaths of presidents in 2008 and 2014,” notes the EIU. “The previous presidential election, in 2016, was won by the incumbent president Edgar Lungu in disputed circumstances, and marred by pre- and post-election violence. Mr Lungu’s government’s subsequent authoritarian behaviour towards Mr Hichilema gave credence to the opposition candidate’s claims that he was the rightful victor of the 2016 poll, and this has proved sufficient to win his party’s united backing for one last attempt to unseat Mr Lungu.”

But Changala, a good governance activist, wonders why the EIU keeps predicting President Lungu’s victory even when the Constitution does not allow him to stand.

“And, in any case, who has told this same tabloid that President Edgar Lungu does qualify to appear on the ballot paper? How are they so sure? So, they’re telling us that our judicial system will not function or does not function? That’s an insult to the judiciary,” he said. “How are they convinced that the people of Zambia will go en masse as they registered en masse to go and line up just for the sake of retaining an oppressor? That is abusing the citizenry; and that is the strongest insult that can be transmitted by a group of people or individuals.”

Changala said the EIU was portraying itself as an appendage of the PF in the manner it kept on with its predictions even when the situation on the ground was different.

“But my reaction to that story is that the Economics Intelligence Unit is taking the people of Zambia for granted. The Economics Intelligence Unit is telling the people of Zambia very loudly that you are a bunch of fools that can be presided over by the dictator that has reduced your democratic tenets, that has abused your human rights, that has destroyed the economy and that has divided the country on tribal lines,” Changala added. “The Economics Intelligence Unit which looks like an appendage of the PF, I must conclude without doubt, and I stand to be corrected if I’m wrong, it’s like that Unit is managed from PF secretariat because an analytical publication or journal cannot make these unfounded predictions in the midst of a party failing to meet people’s expectations and needs in a country where freedom of association, the freedom of the media is being curtailed on daily basis. And yet, somebody can sit down with a pen and paper and analyse on how a dictator and a political party that is abusing its own citizens can be so much loved and voted for and win an election.”

Changala described EIU reports as “the worst insult that you can attribute to the people”.

According to him, the EIU seeks to portray Zambians as “idiots and fools living in a fool’s paradise”.

“This insult to the people of Zambia cannot be accepted, tolerated. We have the celebration from the State media, the celebration from the PF because this fake tabloid is transmitting the message of campaign so that Zambians can live in poverty in perpetuity and continue to live in bondage under a party that has lost legitimacy; under a President that has lost legitimacy,” said Changala. “Their prediction has been very consistent and they stick to that. And in the recent report they even confirm the retirement of Mr Hakainde Hichilema from active politics. And this has excited the ruling party and they call it very good journalism. And the state media is carrying the banner headlines which normally they would not give that headline banner to an opposition leader. They would not give that banner headline to a civil society leader; but they’ll give it to anybody who praises and gives them the comfort that PF will be in Zambia forever.”

I Could Not Challenge Edgar Lungu Because Of Lawlessness In PF – KBF

0

Friday, 09.04.21

I COULD NOT CHALLENGE EDGAR LUNGU BECAUSE OF LAWLESSNESS IN PF, THE UNDEMOCRATIC NOMINATION PROCESS AND THE ILLEGAL CENTRAL COMMITTEE HE USED TO ENDORSE HIM

“I want to state to the nation that I have decided not to Lodge my application, despite being a member of the Patriotic Front in good standing for the following reasons”;

1️⃣ THE RULE OF LAW: “I have stated on different occasions and platforms the importance of adhering to the rule of law.

“I maintain that my elder brother, the president Edgar Chagwa Lungu is not eligible to stand as Republican president and as a lawyer, he knows this.”

“He has held the office of president twice having been elected two (2) times. There’s no third term in the Republican constitution.”

“I say this because the PF constitution clearly says that the person who is elected at the conference must also qualify to run under the Republican constitution.”

“The president has therefore, by filing his nomination set in motion the first to defy the Republican constitution.”

“The PF constitution and the Republican constitution have always worked hand-in-hand together.”

“In 2014, we elected Edgar Chagwa Lungu as party president, he therefore, stood in 2015 as our candidate and stood again in 2016 as our candidate. He can’t stand again!”

“Because of my strong belief in the rule of law and the respect of both party and the Republican constitutions, I do not want to be part and parcel of an election that is against the law.”

2️⃣ ILLEGAL CENTRAL COMMITTEE : “The central committee that purported to endorse the candidature of Edgar Chagwa Lungu as the sole candidate is an illegal central committee.”

“The central committee was formerly elected in 2011, their mandate came to an end in 2016.”

“I raised that issue in 2016 and we should have held an extraordinary general conference to elect and renew the mandate of the central committee [but] this, did not happen and I was Infact, called names and I was labelled a rebel of the party.”

“We should have held that extraordinary general conference so that we mandate the central committee to do what they purport to do now .”

“This central committee is comprised of members who have been appointed and nominated by one person [who is] the president [himself].”

“This is the person who gives you the position to hold on the central committee [then] the same person now tells you, “endorse me”, and you endorse him.”

“These [the PF central committee members] are the agents or surrogates of the same president they are endorsing.”

3️⃣ UNDEMOCRATIC NOMINATION PROCESS

“The nomination process was undemocratic.”
▪️Am aware that the Secretary General of the party [Hon. Davies Mwila] was not at the party Secretariat yesterday [Thursday, 08.04.21].”

▪️”I know that there were hired thugs, cadres and other criminal elements positioned at the secretariat to intimidate and injure me if I ventured to go at the secretariat.”

“Fellow Zambians, our democracy has been compromised and taken for a ride. I refuse to be part of lawlessness [so] out of principal I have refused to be part and parcel of this undemocratic process.”

“To you my supporters, I urge you to continue doing what we are doing. Continue mobilizing, and know that very soon a big signal will be given to you. …. .Am running for president!”

US rapper DMX dies following heart attack

DMX, the New York rapper whose gruff tone electrified the US music scene in the late 1990s, has died aged 50.

The star, whose real name was Earl Simmons, was hospitalised after a heart attack on 2 April, and had been placed in a critical care unit at White Plains hospital, New York. His family had organised a prayer vigil outside, which took place on Monday.

“Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end,” a statement from his family read. “He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time.”

His label Def Jam Records wrote: “DMX was a brilliant artist and an inspiration to millions around the world. His message of triumph over struggle, his search for the light out of darkness, his pursuit of truth and grace brought us closer to our own humanity. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all those who loved him and were touched by him.”

DMX, real name Earl Simmons, scored five US No 1 albums, featuring hip-hop anthems such as Party Up (Up in Here), What’s My Name? and X Gon’ Give It to Ya. With his gripping tales of crime and rivalry, peppered with energetic ad-libs and frank lyrics about his own psychology, he was credited with bringing fresh storytelling and rawness to the “gangsta rap” scene of the 1990s.

Simmons was born in the New York suburb of Mount Vernon in 1970, and was partially raised in children’s homes after suffering physical abuse by his mother. He took his stage name from an Oberheim DMX drum machine in one of the homes.

He spent time in juvenile detention centre, and then prison as an adult, for a series of crimes including carjacking – “jail was a playground,” he later said – at the same time as he began honing his rap career. A 1992 deal with Columbia Records faltered, but he later signed with Def Jam, who released his debut single Get at Me Dog in 1998.

It began a period of major success, that included a much-admired performance in front of an estimated 200,000 people at the notorious Woodstock festival in 1999.

His first two albums – It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, and Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood – were released in 1998 and quickly went multi-platinum, made him the first living rapper to release two No 1 albums in the same year. With 2003 album Grand Champ, he became the first artist to score five US No 1s with their first five albums.

He was nominated for three Grammy awards, including best rap album for 2001’s …And Then There Was X, and guested on tracks by Jay-Z, Aaliyah, LL Cool J and more.

As he continued to release music, he began an acting career in 1998, heading up the crime drama Belly alongside hip-hop stars including Nas and Method Man.

He found success playing leads in two thrillers by the Polish director Andrzej Bartkowiak: Exit Wounds (2000) with Steven Seagal, and Cradle 2 the Grave (2003) with Jet Li, with whom he also starred in Romeo Must Die (2000). Further roles came alongside actors such as Kris Kristofferson and Michael Madsen, and he appeared as himself in the 2014 Chris Rock film Top Five.

Amid his success, he had a fractious personal life, struggling with drug use that began aged 14, and committing further crimes. During the 2000s he was given minor sentences for convictions including animal cruelty, drug possession and various driving charges, and spent short periods in prison, including for parole violations.

In 2015, he was sentenced to six months in prison for failing to pay child support. Simmons fathered 15 children, with the most recent, Exodus, born in 2016. In 2018, he served a year-long sentence for tax evasion.

During a jail term in 2010, he was moved to a mental health unit. At his original sentencing, the judge had said she believed he had an undiagnosed bipolar disorder. Simmons never announced a diagnosis, but referred to having multiple personalities, including in 2020 when he said: “There’s a few things, a few people in me – they get me through life.” In 2011, he said: “I used to be really clear on who was what and what characteristics each personality had, but I don’t know at this point.”

He visited drug rehabilitation facilities numerous times, most recently in 2019 when he cancelled tour dates, citing an “ongoing commitment to putting family and sobriety first”.

He released seven studio albums in all, the most recent being Undisputed in 2012. A further album, Redemption of the Beast, was released in 2015, but was unauthorised by Simmons.

In 2019, producer Swizz Beatz announced that Simmons had a signed a new deal with Def Jam, and was working on a new album. In 2020, he engaged in a rap battle with Snoop Dogg for the popular online series Verzuz, with more than 500,000 viewers.

Statement by HH on the launch of the UPND Manifesto 2021-2026

0

Statement by UPND President Hakainde Hichilema on the launch of the UPND Manifesto 2021-2026

Today the 9th of April 2021 marks an important day in the life of our country, Zambia. Everyone agrees that Zambia ngeeds change. Not just change for the sake of change, but change that actually going to make a difference in the lives of the citizens.

This year 2021 presents the Zambian people a chance to experience real change for the better. We have done it before and we will do it again.

If anyone doubts whether Zambia needs a change; just look around you.Unemployment. Poverty. Rising Prices. Hunger. Falling education standards. Hospitals and clinics without medicine and many more problems.

Zambia is in a crisis caused by failure of leadership by the PF. The lack of political will on many fronts shows us that Zambia needs a change of leadership this year. A government that is preoccupied with winning elections as opposed to governing and providing answers to the many challenges that the country is facing, needs to be CHANGED.

Patients are going to hospitals which have no medical staff and most importantly no medicine. Children are not going to school because parents cannot afford to pay school fees. Parents are struggling with putting food on the table. This needs to CHANGE for the better.

We cannot imagine how Zambia will look like in another five years with the same party in power. This country will no longer be recognizable. It therefore should not be lost on anyone that the decision we make on 12th August 2021, will either make this country worse than it is, or give it a new lease of life towards prosperity and peace.

In a nation like ours that is fertile and plentiful, nobody should be poor. All that needs to be done to change this country for the better, is included in this document we are launching today, the UPND Manifesto 2021-26. The highlights in this transformation plan include the following:-

Create jobs for our young people; Lower prices of fuel; Lower food prices for all Zambians; Empower our small businesses to succeed and grow; build a health system that serves all the people of Zambia; build an education system that is robust and prepares our young people to be the leaders and job creators of tomorrow; change a government that steals from the people, to a government that works FOR the people and bring REAL change. Meaningful
change.

The Manifesto explains how we will address the areas we have listed above. On the top of the list is job creation. The country has capable and qualified young people, but there are no jobs. Our small businesses which will also create employment, need financing, business support and market linkages, so that they not only survive but, thrive for sustainable job creation.

We intend to support private sector so that it’s easy for them to do business. This will happen through policy consistency and law reforms that will support private sector to thrive and create jobs. We are also going to invest heavily into the agriculture sector. This will be done by increasing production and productivity as well as connect producers to profitable markets. Agribusiness which is value addition will also be supported in agriculture for purposes of creating jobs. We will not rest until food is affordable and every Zambian has three meals or more a day.

Education has and remains a top priority for us. We shall not rest until every child who needs to be in school is in the classroom, learning. Many of us, including myself, are products of an education system that served both the rich and the poor. We are also making an undertaking in this Manifesto to reform the education system to a two-track system that is vocational and academic.

Under this system there will be no failures as seen today. This is the same education system we would like to create, and until that happens, we are not resting. Until there is medicine in hospitals we will not rest. Our Government will work ceaselessly until the hospitals have healthcare personnel, and ensure that functional healthcare system is created for all Zambians.

Lastly, we will fight corruption with everything at our disposal. Corruption is stealing from the public. People pay taxes, fees and fines, but they end up in pockets of individuals. Currently there is no medicine in hospitals because of corruption. People were supplied with faulty condoms and expired drugs because of corruption. New roads only last for one year instead of the recommended ten years, because of corruption. We cannot move forward as a nation without rooting out this cancer that is fast consuming our nation.

These are not just promises but a personal commitment and social contract we are signing with the people of Zambia. This is a strategic document backed by a solid plan of actions and reforms, such that from the day we set foot in office, the people of Zambia will feel the difference.

This election is not about the candidates contesting elections, these elections are about the people. God bless you and may He bless our Country.

Regé-Jean Page reacts to reports that he was denied Superman role because of his race

0

In a new report by The Hollywood Reporter, multiple sources say Bridgerton breakout star Regé-Jean Page was not cast for a role in the Superman spin-off series Krypton because he is Black.

Page took to Twitter to say the explanation does not hurt any less than it did before. “Hearing about these conversations hurts no less now than it did back then. The clarifications almost hurt more tbh,” he wrote. “Still just doing my thing. Still, we do the work. We still fly.”

The 31-year-old at the time auditioned for the role in the Syfy series Krypton because the producers “were passionate about doing some non-traditional casting.” Reports however said DC Films chairman and Justice League producer Geoff Johns, who was overseeing the project, said Superman could not have a Black grandfather.

Representatives from Johns camp say the explanation for their casting process is being manipulated to mean something otherwise than it was intended to be, calling it an “oversimplification.” According to them, whoever played Superman’s grandfather was supposed to have a likeness to the current Superman, Henry Cavill, and his father in the movie.

“The actor being cast as such was supposed to resemble either actor,” a statement said. “This is being twisted to be something that it is not and someone throwing a name out there to get headlines.”

They added that Page did not make it past the early auditions and never made it to the point where he would have been selected by producers to be sent in for a studio session.

Page has gone on to play Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, which has gained him a huge fan base, especially with the ladies. His stellar acting earned him an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series and a nomination for a SAG Award for the same role. It is therefore not surprising that many were upset about reports that he would not be returning to the Netflix hit period Drama’s second season.

In an Instagram post, Page said it was a pleasure being our Duke on the series as it certainly was the “ride of a lifetime.”

“It’s been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to be your Duke. Joining this family – not just on-screen, but off-screen too. Our incredibly creative and generous cast, crew, outstanding fans – it’s all been beyond anything I could have imagined. The love is real and will just keep growing ❤️❤️❤️💫.”

Jay-Z’s T-shirt with image of sacred Kenyan mosque sparks anger

0

Zedekiah Lukoye, the Kenyan fashion designer and CEO of California-based Blkkburd Genes, has rendered an apology to the management of the Lamu Riyadha Mosque after they registered their displeasure over his T-shirt design bearing an image of the scared and historic monument.

The management of the mosque had earlier issued a statement accusing him of committing a sacrilegious act after legendary rapper Jay-Z was recently spotted wearing the T-shirt in question during an outing in California, nation.africa reported. The mosque also referred to another Facebook post in February that reportedly showed another man wearing a Riyadha Mosque T-shirt while performing at a bar and expanded on why Jay-Z even wearing it isn’t something for them to brag about.

“We don’t consider this an honour, nor a privilege, for the historical mosque and its Founder Habib Swaleh for its imagery to be portrayed in such a way,” the statement read. “Bars and clubs are an affront to the spiritual respect and dignity of the mosque, its founder, to the congregation, and the general Muslim community within and outside Lamu.

“We therefore politely request you to show respect for the mosque by removing our Mosque’s portrait on the shirt, to show us that you really do respect the people of Lamu and the Mosque,” the statement added.

Following the rebuke, Lukoye, in a letter to the management of the mosque, issued an apology explaining that he had no knowledge showcasing the mosque on the T-shirts will be deemed as unholy.

“In this respect, we are willing to make this right with you. We will make sure to remove all the inappropriate portrayal of Riyadha Mosque Lamu on our T-shirts,” he wrote, adding that he had also informed those who have the said shirts to respect the sanctity of the mosque as well as Muslims “by not wearing it in bars nor clubs if they happen to decide to wear it,” nation.africa reported.

Lukoye also explained the mosque wasn’t printed on the T-shirts to cause any controversy but was solely for educational purposes. “Since we only produced 20 T-shirts for some of our celebrity friends and family, we will not be reprinting this design,” he said.

Responding to the letter, the Secretary General of the Riyadha Mosque and Islamic Centre, Abubakar Badawy, said they had accepted his apology.

“We received the letter yesterday. The designer and the company have shown remorse and we don’t take that for granted. The apology has been accepted. We are looking forward to partnering with them to promote the good image of Lamu,” Badawy said.

Located on the historic island town of Lamu in Kenya, the Lamu Riyadha Mosque was constructed in 1892 and it is the oldest mosque in the East African nation, according to nation.africa. The sacred mosque was reportedly very instrumental in propagating the teachings of Islam across East and Central Africa. For its historical status, it was declared a national monument by the government of Kenya in 2018.

Hollywood star Thandie Newton reverts to her Zimbabwean name ‘Thandiwe’

0

Sometimes, it takes starring in more than 30 movies, a dozen television series credits as well as a good amount of accolades and awards over three decades for you to say you have had enough of living up to the misspelling of your name.

Hollywood actress Thandie Newton now wants to be known professionally and publicly as Thandiwe, reverting to the Zimbabwean Nguni spelling and sense of her name. The 48-year-old was born to a white British father and a Black Zimbabwean mother who also happened to be a royal.

“That’s my name. It’s always been my name. I’m taking back what’s mine,” Newton said of Thandiwe to British Vogue. Thandiwe is pronounced tan-DEE-way and the actress wants her future film and TV credits to carry the name her mother bestowed on her.

Nguni is a collection of Bantu languages in southern Africa. This group of tongues includes Xhosa, Zulu, Ndebele and Swati. In these languages, Thandiwe means ‘beloved’.

In 1991 when she first starred in a film, Flirting, along with Nicole Kidman, Newton’s name was spelled as Thandie. It would seem that was not her choice but rather a mistake on the part of the producers. Intriguingly, she has also starred in another movie along with Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover where she played the titular character, Beloved. That was a movie based on a Toni Morrison novel.

So why has it taken this long for a woman who has been known to global audiences for 30 years to rectify a mistake? Newton explained that she is taking advantage of the phase the film industry has evolved to where Black identity is now allowed to exist and is not repackaged for white consumption and satisfaction.

“The thing I’m most grateful for in our business right now is being in the company of others who truly see me. And to not be complicit in the objectification of black people as ‘others’, which is what happens when you’re the only one,” she continued in the interview.

Newton’s point taps into a long history of the harmful cinematic depiction of Black people, including the era of Blaxploitation, as well as the burden that often comes with possessing an African name in western countries.

It has been known for a while that Newton had African parentage but many thought she was Zambian. That is because until the early 2000s many of her biographies said she was born in Zambia. She however explained that she was born in London but grew up until age three in Zambia.

PF TARGETS NKOMBO, MWEETWA, AMONG OTHERS OVER ONGOING DEFECTIONS

By Daily Revelation Reporter

Member of parliament for Mazabuka (UPND) Garry Nkombo and his Choma-Central colleague Cornelius Mweetwa are among the senior officials being eyed and in discussions on the possibility of defecting to the ruling PF.

But Mweetwa dismissed the assertions as social media entertainment to associate credibility with those who are leaving the party.

Well placed sources in the PF in collaboration with some in the UPND have told Daily Revelation that Nkombo and Mweetwa are among the officials being targeted by the ruling PF. The sources said several officials were not happy with the happenings in the opposition UPND, accusing their leader Hakainde Hichilema of bulldozing matters in what they term as undemocratic manner.

The sources said the main issue that has brought the most consternation is the decision by Hichilema to appoint Mutale Nalumango as the party’s vice-president, and the other appointments made in the National management committee.

The sources claimed there was little consultation on the appointments, and some were of the feeling that their input was being undervalued.

“But HH has also had a long held view regarding these same officials serving especially as members of parliament, feeling that they apply a lot of effort campaigning for themselves and not him. He feels so long as they are guaranteed their next stay and gratuity in parliament that is fine with them,” the sources said. “

The insiders said the PF have set up a team comprising of Home Affairs minister Stephen Kampyongo, Foreign Affairs minister Joe Malanji, Mines minister Richard Musukwa and national chairperson Samuel Mukupa to ’cause ripples’ in the UPND by targeting senior leaders who are influential in the party, and also taking advantage of the grievances which arose following the UPND convention.

“Of course it cannot be discounted that the same could happen with the PF, especially with those who will not be re-adopted. But it is evident that the impact in the UPND is being felt with these defections,” the sources said. “The team chosen from the PF has reached out to Mweetwa and Nkombo. It’s just a matter of time you will be able to see the ripple effects. Mweetwa was simply testing the waters by saying he is not standing, meanwhile he has been in talks with PF.”

As we go into 2026, we will begin handing over – President Lungu

0

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says he will begin handing over in 2026.

After filing in his papers before PF secretary general Davies Mwila in Lusaka for re-election as the ruling party’s presidential candidate, the Head of State advised his possible challengers to wait for their time.

He said those elevating themselves will not make it into leadership.

“As we go into 2026, we will begin handing over. Edgar Lungu and his team will begin handing over because the tour of duty will be coming to an end in 2026. So, we want to see exemplary leaders who will follow the queue of respecting the followers,” he told exuberant PF members at the party headquarters yesterday. “So, batila ati mayo mpapa naine nkakupapa. So balya abaleikusha tabakapite, balya abaleicefya ukufwayo kubombela abantu bakapita. (There’s a common adage that, mother take care of me when I’m young; when I’m grown I will take care of you in your old age. Those who are elevating themselves will not make it. But those who have humbled themselves and are working for the people will make it). So, all of you, I thank you for coming in numbers; this is true solidarity. I humble myself; may God bless you, thank you.”

Earlier, President Lungu advised others to wait for their time.

Citing his own political history, the Head of State advised his challengers to respect followers and wait for their time.

“You are the most important part of our existence as leaders. You need to know that we wouldn’t be here without you; it is very important. My message to all those who want to provide leadership in Zambia between 2021 and 2026 is that, please, remember the people who put us in power,” President Lungu said. “When people say no, they don’t want you, it’s not your time, just wait! The people of Chawama in 2001 when I stood as a candidate, they rejected me. They opted for [Geoffrey] Samukonga or somebody. I kept my time, I waited. 2006, I did not stand in Chawama, I did not stand anywhere but I kept my faith and supported PF. 2011 I became member of parliament in Chawama. The rest is history. So, those of you who are supporting PF now should know that there’s time for everything. And the time for you too is coming but as long as you prove yourself as a worthy leader of the people, you’ll get it.”

He warned the people he would work with between 2021 and 2016 that if they will not be consulting there will be left behind.

“So, I’ll keep it short and simple. Twalavota. Nga batuvotela lyonse tulaicefya, as we campaign ndaicefya. Napakubomba kuicefya pakweba ati probation nga yapwa, nga ulefwaya contract ya new bakubwekeshapo. (We are voting. Whenever we are voted for, we humble ourselves, as we campaign. I humble myself. During public service we should humble ourselves so that when your probation ends, if you want a new contract, they give you),” said President Lungu. “So, mwebanandi mwebo tulebomba naimwe mu PF, mwebo tuleba nenu between 2021 and 2016 nga tamwakaleipusha mukashala (colleagues I’m working with in PF, those I will be with between 2021 and 2026, if you will not be consulting, you will remain). Don’t be surprised, because this party belongs to people. I want to make it clear; no one will be left behind but only if you are irrelevant. If you are irrelevant, you’ll remain behind. There’s always a pecking order, even among animals there’s a pecking order. Kulaba imo ili pa ntanshi ne shilekonka. Nga yafumapo ilya imbi yakonkapo, efyo fyabe fi; even mu bus stop emo baba abene. (There is one which is in front and those following. When it vacates, another one takes over, that is how things work; even in the bus stop there are owners).”

INVESTIGATE INVISIBLE HAND IN FUEL TANKER DRIVERS STRIKES

0

By Marvin Chanda Mberi

It is inconceivable that barely six months after the Government revised the conditions of service for the fuel tank drivers, suddenly the drivers could lament on the conditions of service in the sector.

There is need to unmask the real motive behind the work protest by the essential workers on this critical sector.

This is beyond the reach of the realistic grievance in any event there is a dispute.

The events of the weekend to the extent normal business grind to a halt are quite strange as at no point in time has our Zambian driver’s disturbed business in their pursuit for Haulage contract.

This brings an apprehension of the invisible hands of the elite parading the drivers to fight their battles.

Having carefully examined the grievances of the protesting drivers presented to Transport and Communications Minister Honorable Mutotwe Kafwaya, it can be discerned that this is purely a dispute between Transporters and the Oil Marketing Companies.

Our other observation is that the dispute also arises on the perceived unfair treatment of the truck drivers in the foreign countries while the same is not the case for their counterparts when they come to do their business in Zambia.

In an event the disputes was on the contracts, the Oil Marketing Companies were the appropriate forum as per their contractual grievances procedures.

If the disputes related to the conditions of service, there is enough room without disturbing the normal course of the businesses of Zambians.

If it related to their treatment in foreign countries, there are line Ministries that could transmit their grievances without making unnecessary headlines.

It is very disheartening that the Zambians could on their own choose to disrupt commerce and this is an eye opener to the relevant authorities to conduct a comprehensive audit on the ownership of the trucks that were packed.

In corporate personality, it is possible for a company to be incorporated as a Zambian company yet it has foreign origin.

There is also need to ascertain if there is any inappropriate connections with the owners of the trucks.

The Zambian truck drivers cannot be unpatriotic to punish their own brothers and sisters by going on the work stoppage over their misunderstandings with other stakeholders.

This evidently was the sponsored economic shut down by real owners of the trucks disguising themselves as Zambian transporters.

Fuel is the essential commodity therefore these suspicious work stoppages by drivers could be acts of sabotage

HRC Calls for Immediate Release of UPND Officials Detained Without Charge for more than Two Weeks Now

0

The Human Rights Commission (HRC or Commission) has called for the immediate release of the four United Party for National Development (UPND) officials who have been detained in Lusaka without charge for more than two weeks now.

Reacting to the detention of former Minister, Mr. Ackson Sejani, Choma Mayor, Mr. Javen Simoloka, Mazabuka Mayor Mr. Vincent Lilanda, and Choma businessman, Mr. Fines Malambo in a statement released to the media today, HRC said that the quartet has been deprived of their right to personal liberty as enshrined under Article 13 of the Constitution of Zambia, Chapter One of the Laws of Zambia.

HRC further said that acts of prolonged detentions without charge or trial are mainly associated with dictatorial regimes in which political persecution and other forms of human rights violations are rife, adding that Zambia is a democratic state in which respect for the Rule of Law, Constitutionalism and Human Rights must be upheld and such arbitrary detentions should not be allowed to take root.

Press Statement
For Immediate Release

RELEASE OR TAKE TO COURT THE FOUR UPND OFFICIALS DETAINED WITHOUT CHARGE FOR MORE THAN TWO WEEKS

The Human Rights Commission (HRC or Commission) calls for the immediate release of the four United Party for National Development (UPND) officials who have been detained in Lusaka without charge for more than two weeks now.

The Zambia Police Service must either grant bond to the former Minister, Mr. Ackson Sejani, Choma Mayor, Mr. Javen Simoloka, Mazabuka Mayor Mr. Vincent Lilanda and Choma businessman, Mr. Fines Malambo or take them to court because keeping them in custody for 17 days without any recourse to the courts of law is unconstitutional and constitutes gross violation of their rights.

The Commission is concerned that the quartet has been deprived of their right to personal liberty as enshrined under Article 13 of the Constitution of Zambia, Chapter One of the Laws of Zambia. Article 13 of the Bill of Rights, read together with Section 33 of the Criminal Procedure Code Act, Chapter 88 of the Laws of Zambia stipulate that a suspect deprived of their right to personal liberty without a warrant may within 24 hours of being taken into custody either be granted police bond or be taken before a competent court of law or as soon as practicable.

According to the findings of the Commission, all the detained four men are members or sympathisers of UPND based in Mazabuka and Choma Districts of Southern Province respectively but they have been detained in Lusaka for over 17 days without being charged with any offence. This action is unlawful, a violation of human rights and amounts to false imprisonment.

In an unprecedented development, so far efforts by the Commission to execute its constitutional and statutory mandate of visiting persons in detention facilities and seeking redress of human rights violations in this case have been frustrated.

This gives a regrettable impression of a worrying deteriorating human rights situation and it must be redressed because it is not good for national development.

The Commission wishes to advise the police to release the detained men immediately if they do not have any evidence against them or charge and grant them bond or immediately take them to court where they may apply for bail instead of continuing to violate their constitutional and human rights.

Acts of prolonged detentions without charge or trial are mainly associated with dictatorial regimes in which political persecution and other forms of human rights violations are rife.

Zambia is a democratic state in which respect for the Rule of Law, Constitutionalism and Human Rights must be upheld and such arbitrary detentions should not be allowed to take root.

Eastern Province football teams turn to graveyards for wins

Eastern Province football teams turn to graveyards for wins

AS PERHAPS one of the few provinces in Zambia without a football team in the prestigious FAZ Super League, teams in the Eastern Province have reportedly turned to graveyards for winning charms.

In a spine-chilling confession by 67-year-old Austine Ziwa and his sidekick Rabson Zulu aged 30 dug up graves to rob the deceased of their bones which they later used to make charms so that some talentless both-left-feet footballers of the East could at least even manage to hit a ‘beamshot’ at the goalposts.

During cross-examination by Chief Madzimawe at his Palace at the weekend, the duo narrated that they had so far provided the portion of human bones to football teams like New Tigers, Kambwata Stars and Thebete Warriors.

However, Chief Madzimawe doubted the duo’s explanation that the charms were for football pointing out that all the teams which they claimed to have provided their concoction were still being whipped like erring children by their rivals.

But perhaps more bizarre in this tale of ‘Evil Grandpa and his Sidekick’ was how they were nabbed leading to their confession.

Facts in this matter are that Ziwa and Zulu were stumbled upon at midnight exhuming late Whiteson Zulu an adult albino at Mona Graveyard who died in 2018 by a fearless cattle owner Azele Moyo, 39 who was looking for his lost cattle in the hills and valleys including the graveyard.

When Moyo heard humming noises, he thought it was his cattle grazing the graveyard but as he got closer to what was supposed to be his ‘cattle’, Ziwa took off in a spirit-filled sprint only a teenager can manage leaving his sidekick battling for pace kilometres behind.170497203_1001409767063243_3673245555785629848_n

Moyo could not believe the new turbocharged speed of his cattle and he gave chase leaping over mounds of graveyards but all he came close to were the clouds of dust and stone that Ziwa and his accomplice were leaving in their Olympic run.

Breathless and beaten for pace by a magical pensioner, Moyo picked up the evidence left by the midnight ‘cattle’ which included a hoe and a headsock.

It is these artefacts that the village used to identify the culprits leading to their chilling confession.

It is not the first time, Ziwa had been presented before Chief Madzimawe for his “vodoo practice”, as he admitted that he had been brought to the place some time back in connection with enrichment charms he was concocting.

When queried about how chose which graves to exhume, Ziwa told Chief Madzimawe that he was particularly interested in the remains of albinos.

He explained that the previous charms he had provided for the teams were from an albino’s bone he had gotten from Kafue.

Meanwhile, Eastern Province Police Commissioner Geza Lungu said Ziwa and his wingman have been arrested for tresspassing on the graveyard and would appear in Court soon.

I Will Be Failing In My Duties If I Don’t Block HH From Filling His Nominations – Nawakwi

0

THE UPND says the missing Hatembo siblings are being kept by the Zitukule Consortium for their safety.

But FDD president Edith Nawakwi says the abduction is about making sure UPND president, Hakainde Hichilema files his nomination without facing fraud charges over his acquisition of Kalomo Farm 1924.

UPND spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa says attempts to implicate Mr Hichilema in the abduction were the creation of the Patriotic Front (PF) working with Ms Nawakwi.

But Ms Nawakwi has charged that Zitukule could be a UPND surrogate organisation holding the Hatembo’s fearing they would go to court and expose the fraudulent manner in which Farm 1924 in Kalomo was dispossessed from them fraudulently by Mr. Hichilema.

“That transaction was fraudulent and it is not true that the High Court made a determination on the fraud. There is no time bar to fraud.”

She also expressed fears for the lives of the abducted Hatembo siblings, “We have seen what happens in countries like Iraq when someone is abducted and the abductors realise they cannot hide them anymore, what do they do to them? And this is my daily fear,” Ms Nawakwi said.

Earlier, Mr Mweetwa who accused the Daily Nation, and other like-minded media of twisting facts questioned why the police were holding a UPND member of the National Management Committee, Ackson Sejani, Choma mayor Javen Simooloka and the mayor of Mazabuka Vincent Lilanda when the people keeping the Hatembos, the Zitukule Consortium were known.

Ms Nawakwi said Pheluna, a mother could not willingly go into hiding and leave her sick daughter abandoned. “This matter is about farm 1924 which the family lost fraudulently. The family wants to advance the fraudulent act which was not addressed by the High Court.” she said. Fraud, Ms Nawakwi said, was not time barred as suggested by the High Court, “That is why they are being held until after nomination. I am prepared to face HH at the Police to make this same allegation.”

But Mr Mweetwa has claimed that Zitukule was keeping the Hatembo siblings. “In the midst of the stories that they have disappeared, the Hatembos surfaced and reported themselves to police but police turned them away so they decided to have a briefing to show the world that they were safe and sound and the people who took them to police are known people, Zitukule Consortium of Nikolas Phiri.

“Nikolas Phiri himself in the presence of his lawyer, gave reasons that as a civil society, they were helping the Hatembos for their safety because they are human rights activists. So you know the people who have publicly come out to say we are the ones with these people, we are helping them,” Mr Mweetwa said.

The Hatembo siblings, Pheluna and her brother Milton have been missing for over two months and missed the funeral of their brother, Conwell last week. – Daily Nation

For the first time, France has opened its archive on Rwanda genocide to the public

0

To fully confront its role in the Rwandan genocide and improve its relations with the East African country, France has for the first time made public its archive related to the genocide. About 8,000 archive documents including some that were previously classified are being made accessible to the general public beginning from Wednesday, April 7, which marks the 27th anniversary of the start of the Rwandan genocide.

The documents include the archives of former President François Mitterrand and Prime Minister Edouard Balladur, BBC reported. A group of historians that were given access to the archive documents published their report days ago. The report compiled by the group of French historians commissioned by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, concluded that the country’s role in the 1994 genocide in Rwanda was that it turned a “blind” eye to evidence of the inevitable.

The 15-member group, formed two years ago, was charged to look into what France knew and what it could have alternatively done before and during one of post-colonial Africa‘s most tragic moments. The group did not include any Rwandan, in an attempt to have neutrality but was allowed unfettered access to French government and intelligence archives.

France is said to share “heavy and overwhelming responsibilities” for the genocide but on the basis of noncommittal politics instead of active participation. For instance, Mitterrand, France’s president at the time, is blamed for not acting on the intelligence his government picked up due to France’s closeness to the Hutu-led government.

Mitterrand was also a friend of Rwandan President Juvénal Habyarimana, which placed the French leader at a point of considerable influence. Hitherto, France had never affirmed the relation between Mitterrand and Habyarimana.

At least 800,000 people – ethnic Tutsis and moderate Hutus – were killed in 100 days by Hutu militias during the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. More than two million refugees fled Rwanda, generating a humanitarian crisis. Rwanda has, over the years, accused France of complicity in the mass killings, but France has repeatedly denied this.

France and Rwanda have had a strained relationship since the genocide in 1994. Rwandan authorities have usually blamed the French government for the massacres, saying that France supported the Hutu-led government and its ethnic forces.

Rwanda’s genocide began on April 6, 1994, when a plane carrying Rwandan President Habyarimana and his Burundian counterpart Cyprien Ntaryamira was shot down. The two died. Hutu extremists blamed Tutsi rebel group the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) for the attack, then launched a well-organized slaughter campaign that claimed the lives of over 800,000 people, most from the minority Tutsi community.

France was said to be a close ally of the Hutu-led government of Habyarimana prior to the killings. Reports said that although France had troops stationed in Rwanda at the time as part of a UN peacekeeping operation, they did not intervene until June – two months after the genocide had started.

France has insisted that its soldiers deployed did their best under the circumstances and saved lives. Other reports said that scores of suspected war criminals, wanted for trial in Rwanda, later sought refuge in France.

Since the genocide, different investigations have been conducted to ascertain who was behind the downing of the jet carrying Habyarimana. Initial unproven allegations in Rwanda pointed fingers at Paul Kagame, then-leader of Rwandan Patriotic Front (PRF).

In 2006, an investigation by France was concluded because the crew on board were French. That conclusion also said Kagame, an ethnic Tutsi, was to blame for the attack on the jet. Kagame to date maintains his innocence even while former comrades of his have said they blame him for orchestrating the attack on Habyarimana’s jet.

Court detains mother, daughter at President’s pleasure after insanely murdering own children, husband

By Mwaka Ndawa

THE Lusaka High Court has imprisoned a 37-year-old woman of Lusaka’s Chalala area and her daughter at the President’s pleasure for the gruesome murder of heir family and friend’s children.

Justice Wilfred Muma has entered a verdict of not guilty and has detained Jenipher Mwanza and Delia Mwanza at the President’s pleasure because the two were mentally unsound when they killed six people.

However, Susan Chimfwembe, who was jointly charged with the duo, has been acquitted of murder as there is no evidence adduced by the state linking her to the offence.

Jenipher and Delia between July 28 and August 1, 2016, whilst under the influence of madness, murdered Albert Mwanza, Brian Banda, Martha Mwanza, Amos Banda, Leo Mwanza and Blessings Mwanza, who were her family members and two of Chimfwembe’s children.

The three were discovered by the police in an unfinished building in Chalala area with six corpses that had their heads chopped off laying around in a room, while two juveniles, a male and female, were tied up awaiting to be murdered.

The chopped heads of the corpses were later boiled in a big pot.

Dr P. Musoni, a psychiatrist who examined the trio’s mental status following an order by justice Egpso Mwansa, discovered that Jenipher suffered from a mental disorder called schizophrenia.

He said Jenipher was remorseful for having caused the death of her three children and her husband and that she claimed to be a prophetess though she was never seen reading a bible or praying with others.

Dr Musoni certified that Chimfwembe exhibited no signs of mental illness but the psychiatric results revealed that at the time of the alleged offence, she suffered from induced delusion disorder that was transferred to her by associating with Jenipher, a primarily affected person.

He said Chimfwembe believed that Jenipher was a prophetess during the time they lived together in an unfinished building.

Dr Musoni further observed that Delia was not aware of the wrongful acts due to shared psychotic disorder suffered at the time of commission of the offense.

According to the two juvenile survivers, Jenipher had tied them up in a room where she dumped corpses of her children.

They said Jenipher’s husband Albert Mwanza who had returned from a drinking spree asked her about the whereabouts of their three children upon noticing that they had gone missing.

Whilst inquiring about the children, Jenipher’s other daughter, Delia approached her father whilst armed with a knife and an axe.

Mwanza was overpowered by his wife and daughter to which the duo slit his throat and chopped off his fingers.

They later lied to Chimfwembe that Mwanza was a satanist and that he had bewitched the children after beheading him.

The juvenile’s further explained that one of their slain brother attempted to escape upon having sight of the corpses, but Jenipher got hold of him and poured mealie meal in his eyes, mouth nose and ears and blind folded him.

They said Chimfwembe was directed to sit on her son as Jenipher strangled him.

The juveniles also disclosed that later in the night, Mwanza was heard saying that one of the children was possessed by a snake and that if they did not act in time, the child would turn into a monkey.

They said before their friends were murdered, Jenipher held the children tightly in her arms on the pretext that she was protecting them from evil spirits but later strangled them.

Their mother, Chimfwembe, asked Jenipher why the children were not breathing but the latter told them they were just sleeping and the spirits would resurrect them but such did not happen.

Jenipher and her daughter wrapped their clothes and started chanting songs whilst naked in preparation for the murder of the last two juveniles but the children managed to escape and sought refuge at their neighbour’s home.

In his judgement, judge Muma said he cannot doubt the testimony of the juvenile survivers, as all the events ranging from the moment when Jenipher made a pronouncement that all the children in the house were to be killed up to the discovery of the dead bodies in the house.

He said it cannot be a mere coincidence that Jenipher made a pronouncement of the intention to kill all the children and the eventual noise of the crying babies during the night following the pronouncement.

“This appears to me as an irresistible conclusion; Jenipher executed her intentions to kill the children in her own belief and understanding that they shall resurrect,” judge Muma said.

“The pronouncement made by Jenipher to kill the children was not an innocent statement. It was a statement which in turn hatched the gruesome killing of children and indeed her husband who was popularly known as Guy Scott.”
169990282_1423763844639773_5889974350775976065_n
Judge Muma said the series leading to the death of all the victims was forthrightly articulated and remained unshaken by cross-examination.

“I am satisfied that the evidence before me adequately connects Jenipher and Delia to the offense they stand charged with. I therefore enter a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity and order that Jenipher and Delia be detained at the President’s pleasure,” said judge Muma.

“With respect to Chimfwembe, I have found no iota of evidence adduced by the prosecution connecting her to the commission of the offense. In any case, she was also by and large, a victim who suffered trauma of the acts of Jenipher and Delia. I therefore acquit Chimfwembe and set her at liberty forthwith.”

INSIDE DROGBA’S SON ISAAC: A LEGEND IN THE MAKE?.

Isaac Drogba will be looking to follow his own path as he tries to carve a career for himself in the Italian fourth division, but he couldn’t help creating parallels with his legendary father Didier after netting his first goal as a professional for Folgore Caratese this weekend.

It was simple enough, collecting a pass inside the six-yard box and smashing home from an angle – and out went the arms as he jabbed his hands in and out, just like dad used to do for Chelsea for so many years.
Being the son of an iconic player who scored almost 300 career goals and who nearly single-handedly won the Champions League for Chelsea is a tough enough burden.

That classic celebration sent social media into a frenzy and raised the expectations that bit higher for Drogba Jnr – with fans keen to see him replicate the former Ivory Coast international’s feats.
Not much is known about the 20-year-old – but here’s the lowdown.

WHAT’S THE STORY SO FAR?

Born in Paris but raised in England, Isaac took a liking to Arsenal, according to his father, annoying him by wearing the Gunners shirt around the house and idolising his rival Thierry Henry.
Having grown up in the UK while Drogba Snr was playing for Chelsea, he was taken on by the Blues for a spell in their academy, thanks to his connections in the family. But quickly it became clear he wasn’t going to get a proper shot at Stamford Bridge.

Just like Drogba Snr, Isaac moved on to Guingamp in 2018 – 16 years after his father joined the club for £80,000 in his early days.
Didier couldn’t hide his pride about his son’s move at the time, writing on social media: ‘Couldn’t be more proud of you Isaac Drogba.’ Young Drogba also had the full support of two more Chelsea legends.

Frank Lampard responded to his former team-mate: ‘Congratulations! I remember Isaac as the small polite boy! Now a man!’ And John Terry replied: ‘Can’t believe how big he is mate, congratulations.’

However, it’s fair to say the dream switch didn’t quite go to plan, as he was unable to break through to the first team – instead having to settle for appearances for the club’s B team. Eventually he was released – being forced to look for a new club last summer.
He remained a free agent up until February this year, when he was given a chance by Folgore Caratese, who play in Italy’s Serie D.
WHAT HAS HE GOT?
There’s no question that the kid can finish.

Clips of Isaac in training show he has plenty of ambition and a clinical edge to his play, and he opts to shoot from distance often and gets a lot of accuracy on his efforts as he often finds the top corner of the net.
Possibly the first piece of footage displaying his skills shows a confident young Drogba, no older than 10 or 11, cutting in from the left hand side of the pitch and curling a shot into the top right.
But consistency and delivering on the big occasion is what has let him down after taking so long so break his duck as a professional – summing up his early struggles to nail down regular football and having to go down to the fourth tier.
Perhaps what he lacks, in addition, is the physicality and strength which his father was renowned for. Should he add an aerial threat to his game, then he could take his game to another level.
HOW FAR CAN HE GO?

Considering we’ve seen so little of Isaac, it’s difficult to say how far he could go in the game, but he certainly looks to be more comfortable in Serie D. He’s only been there a month and already has his first goal.
Getting regular game time will be a huge benefit to him in developing his game – all he can do now is keep taking opportunities and he’ll gain more attention.
We should remember that his father was something of a late bloomer – it wasn’t until he was 21 years old that he signed his first professional contract with Le Mans in 1998, and he joined Chelsea aged 26 in 2004, only then establishing himself among the elite.

WHAT ABOUT HIS INTERNATIONAL FUTURE?

Since Isaac was born in Paris, he’s eligible to play for France, as well as the Ivory Coast – the birthplace of his father. But having grown up in the UK while Drogba Snr was starring for Chelsea, he wants to represent the Three Lions one day.
‘My son was playing for Chelsea and I asked him – which nationality do you want to play for?,’ Drogba Snr said in 2015.
‘He’s French, but he said he does not want to play for Ivory Coast or France, he wants to play for England.

‘Even when I was in China, I said to (my children) “do you want to come and live with me?”, but they said that they would come to see me on holidays.’

WHAT’S BEEN SAID?
After netting his first professional goal, Folgore Caratese called him ‘extraordinary and wonderful’, having come on as a sub to win the game 1-0 in the 87th minute.

Meanwhile, PSG forward Moise Kean described Isaac as a ‘young king’, having watched his strike on Instagram.168503721_479892000126828_1654855803412784662_n

Senior US Embassy official in Kenya hangs self in hotel room

0

An American who had been posted to the United States (US) Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya as the head of security committed suicide at his hotel room in Gigiri on Wednesday morning, April 7.

The official, who arrived in the country several days ago, was set to start work on Wednesday but failed to report to his duty station.

Sources said he had been in self-isolation after he arrived in the country.

His colleagues tried reaching him on phone in vain, prompting the visit to his hotel room by security officials.

The door was found locked from inside and the team was forced to break it open.

The 58-year old was found hanging in the room and had left behind a suicide note, believed to have been written by him, indicating why he killed himself.

He had used a belt to hang himself and it is believed he was alone in the room.

“The body was found hanging near the room window. He seemed to have died long before security team arrived there,” one of the officers told K24 Digital.
A U.S. Embassy Nairobi spokesperson said the identity of the deceased official could not be revealed as his immediate family members had not been informed.

“We can confirm the death of a U.S. government employee. U.S. Embassy Nairobi extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased,” the spokesperson said.

Detectives from the US Embassy, Diplomatic Police Unit and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched investigations into the incident.

The body was on Wednesday transferred to the mortuary awaiting post-mortem but preliminary investigations, however, showed there was no foul play.

Nonetheless, detectives said the final determination of suicide will only be made by the pathologists after all facts are evaluated.

All death investigations are usually conducted as murder investigations until facts prove differently.

Though the presence of suicide note certainly suggests suicide, detectives will seek to establish if it was indeed genuine and was written by the deceased.

They may also have to establish if they were voluntarily written, an indicated suicidal intent and if they are coherent and legible or were written under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

In the last two days at least six people have committed suicide in the country.

In one of the cases, a police officer shot dead his wife before turning the gun on himself.

Lungu’s options are quickly shrinking; either to flee Zambia or circumvents Constitution – Msoni

0

NASON Msoni says as the issue of the third attempt at the Republican presidency persists, President Edgar Lungu has two choices; either to flee Zambia or to stay around and attempt to circumvent the Republican Constitution.

He also charges that: “Mr Lungu’s third attempt at the presidency is about avoiding the possibility of going to prison” because of his misdeeds during his six years plus reign.

Msoni is the president of the All People’s Congress (APC).

He accused President Lungu of holding the PF hostage on account of his huge amounts of money.

On Saturday, PF secretary general Davies Mwila announced that the central committee of the ruling party had endorsed Lungu as the party’s sole presidential candidate.

“Mr Lungu’s options are quickly shrinking, leaving him with only two plausible options that he thinks he can use in order to escape liability, arising out of his conduct whilst in government. The two options that Mr Lungu has are 1. to flee the country, which is, in essence, an effort of last resort – if he fails to crack his way through to get a third term,” Msoni said in an interview. “His choices are struck to two; either he flees Zambia or he stays around and attempts to circumvent the Constitution. He is going to test the waters by attempting to circumvent the Constitution.”

He said President Lungu wants to prolong his stay in government by “sitting on the things that he has committed.”

“He knows very well that for the things he has committed, the only atonement is going to prison,” Msoni said. “So, Mr Lungu’s third attempt at the presidency is about avoiding the possibility of going to prison.”

He, however, explained that an attempt by President Lungu to contest for the Republican presidency, for a third time, fell squarely on the shoulders of those who were mandated to protect the Constitution of Zambia.

“A civilian is trying to circumvent the Constitution for his own selfish benefits. Now, that is a matter of those whose responsibility is to protect the Constitution of Zambia,” he noted. “There is nowhere in that judgment that came from the Constitutional Court where it addressed the question of eligibility of Mr Lungu, save for an interpretation of what constituted a term.”

Msoni added that: “needless for me to state, the Constitution remains the supreme law of the land.”

He stressed that no other document, no matter what it was, could override the supremacy of the Constitution of Zambia.

“The Constitution is very clear; if you have held the Office of President twice, you are ineligible to contest. So, Mr Lungu cannot shoot his way out into eligibility,” he said. “We recognise that he has procured a lot of police and military equipment. But he will not shoot himself through a third term of office.”

He cautioned Zambians to remain vigilant and not to be part of wrongdoing.

“If Mr Lungu manages to circumvent the Constitution, there will be no Constitution to refer to. We all would have lost out!”

“If a third term was barred for Mr Chiluba, so should a third term be barred for Mr Lungu. Nothing is so special about Mr Lungu. If anything, Mr Chiluba was more competent than Mr Lungu.”

He charged that President Lungu had no arguable basis upon which he could remain the President.

“He has been the most incompetent person Zambia has ever had as a President. He cannot be allowed to hold the country hostage for his own past misdeeds whilst in office,” Msoni said. “He knows very well, as a man, as a grown up, that he does not qualify. But nonetheless, he is pushing it, he is tempting Zambians into disloyalty. He is trying it on the PF, and he is holding the PF hostage on account of money.”

He continued, saying: “all these people who are singing in favour of his eligibility are hinging on his continuing in government for them to have access to resources.”

“Out of desperation, Mr Lungu is churning out a lot of money. That’s the reason the PF ticket is attracting more applications, than any other political party – it is because of the money that is available,” Msoni noted. “The idea of the money is for Mr Lungu to try and wangle out a victory by bribing and buying his way. To the contrary, it’s not that the PF ticket is popular. No!”

He further indicated that every local government and parliamentary aspirant is cognisant of the fact that out of President Lungu’s political desperation, he could avail anything to seek re-election.

“So, everybody is trying to take advantage of the PF umbrella to make their way into Parliament or the councils. The easiest ride you can use now is the PF ticket because it’s well lubricated,” noted Msoni. “Even in an event that you lose as an MP, as a councillor, you’ll remain with change and you would have lost nothing, unlike on the opposition political parties’ ticket. Whoever will be adopted on the PF ticket, resources will not be one of their problems. Their problem will be electability; whether they are electable or not.”

Bally Must Seriously Fix His Party Before Claiming To Fix The Economy

BALLY MUST SERIOUSLY FIX HIS PARTY BEFORE CLAIMING TO FIX THE ECONOMY.

Elijah Temboh

I’m a layman and I usually find it a bit shaking everytime I hear about people crossing camps especially from UPND to PF. What disheartens me is the way the UPND camp is downplaying this whole thing.

Instead of focusing on finding a solution on how to end the departure of these key members and MPs. The party channels all it’s energy accusing the PF of buying its members. To tell you the truth, these members have some better reasons for defecting which are beyond money. And to me frustration is what is at play. You can’t buy loyal disciples with money, only frustrated ones and bally needs to quickly interven so that the lasting solution is found before he is left alone.

The earlier the UPND leadership and followers accept that things are not okay, the better because they will look for solutions to end the problem. But if they can keep comforting themselves that things are okay within the party, the moment they will realise that things are bad it will be too late. Downplaying the people that defect won’t help the UPND camp at all because these key members that are leaving the party have influence on atleast 5 members from within the party either at ward or constituency level that are likely to defect with them.

Bally must fix the party first before his claims to fix the economy can be taken seriously. He can’t win an election alone at this time. He needs influential people who are politicians by name and by heart. If it will mean him going flat out to buy the likes of Hon Bowman Lusambo please do so and if you fail that’s when you will realise that where there is loyalty money is useless and it can only become useful where members are frustrated.

Be reminded that it is not everytime that history repeats itself. I have heard many comments from the UPND camp saying even during the time of Mr Rupiah Banda, President Sata suffered some big blows kept losing by elections but he won the general elections. Let me tell you, things have changed nowadays, no wonder even football teams like Zimbabwe, Namibia that we used to beat on both paper and on the pitch are able to beat us. This is the same thing which will happen. Just because the cost of living has gone high should not give you a guarantee that people will vote for you automatically. The PF has also brought massive infrastructure development. So for one to dislodge them, you needs a GORILLA strategy and that first thing is having a good team of influential politicians around you.

They say winning starts from within not outside. So boss mend the loopholes within the party before Hon Davies Mwila aka ULUSATO, GBM, Charles Kakoma and Moonga dismantle you. Mind you all those that leave your party vow to dismantle you and if you can’t wake up now and do something about it, they will succeed cleanly.

Lastly, Steven Masumba joins your party, your followers see it as a plus which might be to you but to me it’s not. Compare the position Masumba held in PF to the one Mr Kakoma held in UPND. Masumba can have influence at district level but Mr Kakoma has influence at National level as such be careful when downplaying these figures.

Thankyou.

UPND TURNED THEMSELVES INTO MY POLITICAL OPPONENTS – EPHRAIM BELEMU

THE UPND TURNED THEMSELVES INTO MY POLITICAL OPPONENTS – EPHRAIM BELEMU.

UPND Mbabala Constituency Member of Parliament Honourable Ephraim Belemu has withdrawn himself from UPND Party and by virtue of the said decision he has also withdrawn himself from everyother position he held in the party including that in the national assembly of Zambia as member of parliament for mbabala Constituency.

He said what made him arrive at this decision is the UPND’s tribal bigotry or intolerance towards other tribes in the party. Honourable Belemu revealed that last week Luvales, Kaondes and Lozis in his Constituency were harassed and attacked not by the PF but the party he was serving the UPND for merely working with him as their elected UPND member of Parliament.

Honourable Belemu accused the UPND of turning into a monster that eats its own loyal babies and to justify its gluttonous acts, it accuses it’s loyal babies of smelling like goats.

The Mbabala Member of Parliament said the tipping point was when the harassments and attacks from the UPND were extended to his family and innocent members of his Constituency and the question he was asked by his daughter was “who then are your political opponents?”

Further, Honourable Belemu disclosed that the UPND have attracted more crooked applicants this time around since the party’s formation and according to simple probability – the UPND have the highest chances of adopting crooks than any other political party in the Country.

“If we removed all political party presidents and their potential running mates and pick the first 200 members of the parties in order of seniority, [the upnd has amassed more dishonest people than other political party and because of that they think the solution is to cannibalize loyal members] – simple probability tells us that any given time the upnd has a higher chance of picking a crook than any other party,” he said.

Honourable Belemu expressed disappointments that he was backstabbed by his own brothers in the UPND who left him for politically dead only to be picked by the PF a party he fought both in parliament and outside. In repaying the PF for their good deeds the Mbabala lawmaker has since commited himself to working with the PF.

According to Honourable Belemu, there is a notion in the UPND that they are forming Government on 12th August and people in the party have already started fighting for the offals of a Buffalo they have not yet hunted. He said he has now committed himself to going hunting with the PF as opposed to fighting for offals of an imaginary Buffalo in the UPND.

Chadiza PF MP Wont Re-Contest Seat For Health Reasons

0

CHADIZA PF member of parliament Salatiel Tembo has backed out of the race to defend his seat due to health reasons.

And Tembo says he is satisfied with his performance but is unhappy that he is leaving at a time when the Chadiza-Chipata road has not been worked on.
In an interview, Tembo said his health had been a bit bad during his tenure.
“My health has been a bit bad. During this tenure, I underwent a major operation and I think that was creating some discomfort for me to be moving up and down. So, I thought I should leave this to people that are able bodied,” he said.

Tembo said he achieved a lot development during his time tenure.
“We have done so much in the five years. We have brought in hydroelectric power in Zemba area, over seven One-by-Three classroom blocks have been built, we have constructed three health posts, internal road networks have been worked on while others are still being worked on,” he said.

“Over 17 communication towers have been put up in the constituency, a lot of boreholes have been sunk. I lobbied for a lot of desks and chairs for schools, we constructed houses for teachers and officers from the department of community development.”
Tembo said a lot of cooperatives had been empowered with goats and chickens.
He also said he sourced for sewing machines which were being used to make face masks for pupils in the constituency.

Tembo said he was very satisfied with his performance.
“I am very satisfied, extremely satisfied. You know it’s like you achieve this and you want something bigger. It’s like you get a bicycle then you say ‘no I need a motorbike’ something like that. But I think in the five years, to be honest with you, those people that are honest and sincere…a lot has been done under the PF government under President Edgar Lungu,” he said.

Tembo said his decision not to recontest has nothing to do with grade 12 certificate because he had all the necessary qualifications.

“My decision to step down came long before this issue (of grade 12 certificate) came on board. I have all the papers, those that would like to see my papers, they are free! I have a full grade 12 certificate, I have a degree, I have a diploma and I have a certificate in adult education,” he said amid laughter.

Tembo said the next member of parliament should be able to carry on from where he will stop from.
“I have told colleagues that in as far as I am concerned, I will be able to work for President Lungu up to the time when he is going to retire himself,” he said. “We are going to fight to make sure that he comes back into office with a lot of votes here in Chadiza particularly. But I am going to support the person that the party is going to give us. I am not actively involved in individual campaigns for aspiring candidates but I am going to work with the one who is who is going to be adopted.”

Tembo said it was sad that the Chadiza-Chipata road had not yet been worked on.
“It’s a very sad state of affair. I hoped that this road was going to be worked on. For me, I am looking at the time that this road has not been worked on, but we have attempted to do something and I have told colleagues that have said ‘no you have failed’ that it is difficult to say because I am the eight MP and this road has been in existence and some of the colleagues that have been MPs were cabinet ministers. And if you attribute the failure to work on the road on me, it’s unfortunate,” he said. “This is a road that has three constituencies; Chadiza, Luangeni and Chipata Central. This is the road that is encompassing three constituencies. So the failure being attributed to me is unfortunate because I cannot get personal money and I don’t have that personal money to work on the road. It is unfortunate that I am leaving office at the time when the road has not been worked on, just like others who left the road without being worked on.”
Tembo hoped the road would be worked on during the tenure of his successor and when government would have enough money.

RELEASE MY PEOPLE, CHIEF COOMA FUMES OVER MISSING HATEMBOS

0

CHIEF Cooma of Choma has demanded for the immediate release of the missing Hatembo siblingss, Pheluna and Milton so that they can reunite with their families and mourn their dead brother.

The traditional leader said it has been over two months now since the two went missing and that whoever is responsible should be ashamed of himself and remember that God in heaven is watching and will surely expose the perpetrator one day.

He said the disappearance of the Hatembos is disheartening and painful to not only their immediate family but also to the nation especially that the two are bread winners in their respective families.

Chief Cooma also demanded that those behind the heinous crime should be arrested immediately because they are not only a danger to society but also heartless.

“I’m speaking as a chief from Southern Province in whose region the two missing Hatembos are domiciled. My demand is that whoever is holding on to my people should free them immediately,” said Chief Cooma.

He said the police should use all means available to trace and arrest the abductors so that they can account for their actions.

Chief Cooma also called on other traditional leaders in the region to call and demand that all possible suspects in the matter are arrested regardless of their position in society.

He said lives of the Hatembos matters and therefore everything possible should be done to find them. The furore over the missing siblings has heated up as Patriotic Front Deputy Secretary-General, Mumbi Phiri revealed that a chief in Southern province was illegally holding the Hatembo siblings – Pheluna and Milton.

The Hatembos saga erupted when the family sued UPND president Hakainde Hichilema over the acquisition of their farm which they disputed but was however dismissed in court on account of being time barred.

Following this, the family agreed to appeal the matter but the missing duo suddenly appeared in Lusaka to discredit their own court case and henceforth refused to appeal the matter.

Other than an appearance at another press conference organised by the ZITUKULE Consortium, the duo has not been seen in public or by their family including Pheluna’s ailing daughter, 35-year-old Nasilele Nyambe who cannot fend for herself.

Nasilele is now being cared for by her elder sister, Abitail Hatembo, who complained of hardship because looking after her sister has led to her not concentrating on her business to sustain the family. -Daily Nation

PF is abusing ZNBC on a Daily Basis to Parade Fake Defections from UPND – Mucheleka

0

United Party for National Development (UPND) Deputy Secretary General Patrick Mucheleka has accused the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) of abusing state owned Zambia National Broadcast Corporation (ZNBC) on a daily basis to parade huge numbers of fake defections from UPND.

In a statement released to the media, Mr. Mucheleka said that further accused the ruling party of blocking the opposition from holding meetings while allowing PF members to continue campaigning.

Below is the full statement

Zambians Should Not Be Duped By Pf Bullying And Propaganda Tactics

We have noted a growing trend where the PF are behaving like a boxer who declares they are winning a contest by tying the hands and legs of their opponents in the boxing ring.

We have also noted a heightened PF propaganda machinery abusing state owned Zambia National Broadcast Corporation (ZNBC) where they are daily parading huge numbers of fake defectors from the UPND to join PF. This is an exhibition of desperation, insecurity and lack of confidence for a party that claims so called unprecedented popularity.

And while they are freely holding their mobilisation meetings around the country, our space is being tightened as our members keep on being blocked and arrested by the police for carrying out party activities around the country.

Just yesterday, a lot of our people were arrested in Eastern Province for merely sensitising citizens to verify their voters registration details as demanded by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).

Media houses are also getting scared to host our members as PF thugs are attacking radio stations and intimidating media personnel who host opposition political party officials.

Zambians should not be intimidated by allowing the PF to create a more repressive regime than they have already done so far.

It’s not a secret that senior PF leaders are on record of saying they wanted to create a one party state in Zambia.

In fact, had it not been the resilience and strength of the UPND President Hakainde Hichilema and his team, by now PF would have managed to cripple and whip all citizens into accepting a one party dictatorship.

PF have so far created an environment where if one does not support them, they are basically regarded as outcasts who don’t deserve any form of opportunities. To lure the people into submission, they have dished out cash to those who want immediate benefits and financial relief especially with the damaged economy now.

We call on citizens not to be duped and bullied by PF corruption money and propaganda using state institutions such as ZNBC and other private surrogate media outlets

Go and get your money which they have been stealing from you and use it for temporal relief, but let’s all gang up and boot them out for a better economic programme that favours everyone. The water melon strategy must now be in full operation.

Zimbabwean Woman Murders Step Son(6),Tries To Burn Step Daughter To Death So She Inherit Hubby’s House

A Zimbabwean woman has been arrested after she being accused of strangling her 6-year-old stepson to death and trying to set her 8-year-old stepdaughter on fire so that she could inherit her husband’s house.

The 24-year-old suspect identified as Alice Chikono, allegedly killed Dean Dube with her bare hands on Easter Friday and hid his body in the house.

She then allegedly locked his sister in the bedroom after switching on a stove and covering it with a blanket, apparently hoping the blanket would catch fire and set the room on fire.

Chikono allegedly fled to Harare after making a false report to the police claiming the boy was missing. However, there was a power cut soon after she left the house thereby putting her plans off rail.

It was gathered that the suspect had allegedly been planning to kill the children for more than one year.

She was arrested in Harare on Saturday, April 3, where she had fled to and she was arraigned before Kwekwe magistrate Mrs Florence Nago facing a murder charge. Nago did not ask her to plead and remanded her in custody to 17 April.

According to court papers, Chikono strangled the boy to death “so that she would inherit the house belonging to his father, Mr Tonywell Dube,49, since he was the only son.”

Speaking to The Chronicle, the visibly shaken father gave a horrendous account of how his son was murdered.

“I was away at work when I was called that the boy was missing so I was constantly checking whether he had been found. I was only called by relatives and advised to rush home but they did not tell me what had happened. When I arrived, that is when I was told about the incident. It broke my heart and I am still in pain,” said Mr Dube fighting back tears.

After Chikono’s arrest in the capital, Mr Dube managed to talk to her on what led her to commit the crime.

“She told me that the plan had been in the pipeline for over a year. Her aunt (name withheld) who is based in Gokwe, was the one who was nagging her to kill Dean since he was the only son and if I die, it was going to be hard for her to inherit my house,” said Mr Dube.

She told me that she throttled the boy with her hands until he died while outside the house. She dragged the body inside the house before locking the elder sister who is about eight years old in the other room before attempting to burn down the house,” said Dube.

A neighbour, on condition of anonymity, said a power cut saved the life of the girl, whose name was not given.

“The girl is very lucky to be alive because Chikono switched on the stove and put a blanket on the stove so that it catches fire which was supposed to then spread to the rest of the room. She then fled to Harare. But soon after she did that, there was a power outage. That is what saved the girl,” said the neighbour.

He said after Chikono made a false police report that the boy was missing, the community organised a search party as they were unaware that he was already dead.

“We became suspicious when we found the doors locked as we came to check on progress. That is when we forcibly broke the door and entered inside only to find a lifeless body and the girl crying in the bedroom which was also locked. That is how we found out that she had killed the boy,” said the neighbour.

The boy’s body has since been ferried to Bulawayo where it awaits post-moterm.

Sunday Chanda: Distinguishing The Tribe From The Tribalist: Every Tribe Is Good But Every Tribalist Is Bad – The Dying Of UPND

0

By Sunday Chilufya Chanda
DISTINGUISHING THE TRIBE FROM THE TRIBALIST: EVERY TRIBE IS GOOD BUT EVERY TRIBALIST IS BAD – THE DYING OF UPND.

Today we welcome Comrade Hon Ephraim Kaang’andu Belemu, United Party for National Development (UPND) MP for Mbabala Constituency. Last week we welcomed Comrade Hon Charles Kakoma, immediate past Spokesperson for the United Party for National Development (UPND). These are nationalists who have refused to drink from the bitter cup of tribalism. More nationalists are on their way out because enough is enough!

The Patriotic Front is against all forms of tribal discrimination, and we shall fight tribalism by exposing it; but that does not mean we practice it.

In the words of His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu:

_“Zambia is a great nation with a great destiny. This can only happen when we learn to celebrate our diversity as a people – 73 tribes, One Zambia, One Nation!”_

Over the years, months, weeks and days, credible men and women have resigned from the Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) citing tribalism.

Patriotic Front has no time or space for tribal talk or tribal elements. We leave that to those whose associations and political grouping was established for that purpose.

Our focus as President Lungu appropriately put it:

_“My Government’s preoccupation is to develop Zambia. I believe that our generation is that generation of Zambians that shall refuse to shrink in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges, the same way that today’s industrialized countries refused to shrink when they faced their own development challenges.”_

While the Patriotic Front is pre-occupied with developing the country, there are others that are pre-occupied with entering State House even if it is by tribal or underhand means.

Since 2006 when Zambia’s main opposition party was formed, there has been a marked emergence of negative ethnicity manifested in vote discrimination and voting imbalance.

While the opposition has from time to time won a few seats in ruling party strongholds, no political party or candidate has ever won any election whether at Ward, Constituency level or any Presidential Vote in the opposition leaders region. The voting patterns in the opposition leaders region have without exception, predictably been focused along tribal lines and ethnic allegiances.

It is incriminating on the part of the UPND that while it campaigns and seek votes in ruling Party strongholds and sometimes win, they have never been questioned why they do not campaign in their opposition leaders region and yet they have always won in this area. This imbalance and vote discrimination has to be interrogated it is blatant tribal sectarianism.

They talk of One Zambia one nation in public and in the media but them walk the walk of tribalism and talk the talk of ethnic loyalty in their strongholds.

What also needs to be interrogated is why there is significantly more violence and bloodshed in during elections in opposition strongholds than there is in Ruling party strongholds.

What has emerged over the years in the UPND stronghold opposition leaders region is beyond political violence… it is sponsored Militant Tribalism.

It is Tribalism and Sectarianism fuelled by the patronization and personalisation of the main opposition by its current leader who manipulated his party’s constitution to gift him an unlimited tenure.

Is it a coincidence that since 2006 tribalism and regionalism has seriously threatened the continuation of a harmonious and fraternal Zambian society?
Through the divisive negative influence of tribalism, some selfish power seeking opportunists have of late intensified their mission under their political banner of tribalism and regionalism, to stir up confusion, division and chaos, to satisfy their own personal, selfish and petty secondary interests.

Whilst Zambians have remained like one family unit despite their diverse backgrounds, the UPND under Mr. Hakainde Hichilema is pushing an aggressive Tribal agenda disguised to appeal to a certain ethnic grouping. The UPND is now starting to eat its own children!

The UPND leader is determined to make an entire tribe look Tribal. We must isolate the tribalist from the tribe. This Tribalist should not taint the historical good image of the people of Southern Province and the legacy of a great people.

We call on Zambians to reject politicians who seek to rise on a tribal platform.

We are not like Mr Hakainde Hichilema and UPND. He pursues tribal interests aimed at consolidating his political backing.

Patriotic Front on the other hand espouses social equality, and rejects tribalism and all forms of racial and or ethnic discrimination.

Every tribe is good and every tribe is equal.

The tribalist should stop hiding behind tribe.

His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and the Patriotic Front are resolved to infuse and fortify a true sense of nationalism that transcended the country’s natural ethnic divisions.

We therefore call upon all Zambians to focus on working in harmony regardless of one’s political or tribal inclination.

We must all contribute positively, in any way we can, in order to ensure that tribal harmony and peace and tranquillity continues.

Our nation remains the envy of many nations. Let us not take advantage of the peaceful privilege Zambia enjoys.

God bless Zambia

Let brotherly and Sisterly Love Continue.

Zambians Should Not Be Duped By PF Bullying And Propaganda Tactics – Mucheleka

0

*PRESS STATEMENT*
*6th April 2021*

*ZAMBIANS SHOULD NOT BE DUPED BY PF BULLYING AND PROPAGANDA TACTICS*

PF IS USING ITS SURROGATES AS IMAGE BUILDERS

0

PRESS STATEMENT
6 TH APRIL 2021
PF IS USING ITS SURROGATES AS IMAGE BUILDERS
As the last resort PF is now using its surrogates as image builders to try and salvage the already dented image. Suddenly the number of PF surrogates has grown to a very alarming level. This now includes even prominent people in society who are competing amongst themselves. This is how PF wants to politically control Zambians after subjecting them to poverty. PF is going round the Country giving people food and money, whose source is highly questionable. However, these PF surrogates do not understand how to eat suspected stolen food safely.

These surrogates must understand that when you are eating suspected stolen food, eat quietly, don’t show off there is no honor in showing off that you are eating suspected stolen food. There is also the other group of surrogates that are using the name of our Lord to eat this likely stolen food .Zambians being the owners of the food are starving and very annoyed with PF. To our innocent Zambians please follow this Bemba saying UMUTABA WESHILU BAKOMBOLA ILYO LIPENENE.

Indeed PF is very confused to realize how they have destroyed the economy and how Zambians have been reduced to beggars. Zambians must take advantage of the PF’s confused state of mind and teach them a lesson on 12th August. Surely how can any normal person go about dishing out money forgetting that hospitals have no medicines? Retirees have not been paid their terminal benefits but are only given a bag of maelie meal with a tin of beans as if they are in a refugee camp. But what you hear from these surrogates is total support of PF’s erratic behavior.

Zambians must not lose Hope, Help is on the way. HH and his team will pay retirees their dues by the end August. If PF can find money to bribe voters it means UPND will find money to pay retirees, buy medicines for our hospitals and provide free education. The culture of surrogates talking carelessly with food in the mouth will go together with PF. HH will put the interest of the Zambian people first as opposed to engaging surrogates as image builders.

Free speech? Zambia’s new internet law fails basic human rights scrutiny

Free speech? Zambia’s new internet law fails basic human rights scrutiny.

By Muleya Mwananyanda• 5 April 2021

On 23 March 2021, Zambian President Edgar Lungu signed the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Bill into law. Its purported aim is to protect people from various forms of online abuse – but if what we have seen in other countries with such laws is anything to go by, it could also allow for blanket internet shutdowns and suppression of free speech, and is very much susceptible to abuse of power.

In a statement announcing his decision, the president said that he “hoped that the law would bring sanity in the way that the internet is used in Zambia”. He further stated that this piece of legislation “…is purely to protect citizens from abuse by people who feel they can do or say whatever they want using the veil of cyberspace. This law is aimed at protecting all Zambians, including those who are against it.”

Protecting people from abuse is laudable and at first glance this law has safeguards aimed at protecting children from predators, people who may suffer blackmail and extortion, and those who could lose their money through identity theft through the internet. It also aims to protect people who are harassed and bullied, among other issues.

However, this new law also contains problematic provisions, which will in the end not protect, but target certain people. If what we have seen in other countries with such laws is anything to go by, this law could also allow for blanket internet shutdowns and suppression of free speech, like we have seen in Ethiopia and Zimbabwe when political tension arises. In such countries these laws have been used to suppress dissent and protect and shield the ruling political elites from public scrutiny.

Some countries have used these laws to shut down the internet at critical times – like during elections – on the pretext that they were saving the public from vague “national security threats”. In Iran, for example, the authorities shut down the internet following protests in which security forces killed hundreds of people in 2019. Iranian authorities regularly shut down the internet in order to limit access to information.

The new law in Zambia contains provisions that are incompatible with domestic, regional and international human rights standards.

Of particular concern are some definitions contained in section 2 of the act. For example, “hate speech”, includes among other definitions, communication that “involves hostility or segregation” towards groups of people on the basis of “economic status”.

While states have an obligation to prohibit hate speech, this proscription must serve a legitimate purpose and not be disproportionate. This prohibition aims to protect human rights to equality and non-discrimination, but as “hate speech” is a notoriously difficult concept to define, loose definitions such as this are dangerous because a lack of clarity leaves people unsure what expression is allowed or prohibited, leading to self-censorship.

As such the restriction must be clear that it only applies to conduct which advocates hatred on the basis of national, racial or religious grounds; that such advocacy involves actual incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence and importantly that the incitement leads to actual discrimination, hostility or violence.

The law in its current form falls far short of this standard.

Where the law is unclear, it is open to abuse and misinterpretation. People could be punished for speaking out against corruption by public officials, or who hold excessive wealth and privilege, if this were improperly construed as “hostility” from the public. This is not a helpful formulation as it has the effect of shielding elected officials from accountability, while punishing those who demand it, the direct opposite of checks and balances that human rights law is meant to ensure.

Effective protection against fake news

Proponents of the law are adamant that it will protect people who are injured by “fake news”, “misinformation” and “disinformation”. But this argument cannot hold when one considers the negative impact of silencing people who may have legitimate information that saves the public from excessive state overreach. This law will have the chilling effect of silencing people in the face of grave violations or risk their freedom of expression.

The lack of clarity in definitions also potentially gives the Defence Minister unfettered power that could lead to mass arrests of people.

For example, in terms of section 2 the minister can decide what is “critical information” in order to determine whether someone has information that the authorities consider critical in order to effect an arrest. In other words, critical information can be whatever the minister thinks it is. For example, Internet Service Providers could have private data seized if the minister deems information they hold “critical”.

The law, therefore, provides no safeguards to protect the right to privacy.

As things stand, there is a real danger that the Defence Minister can invoke “national security” reasons for arresting groups of people without public scrutiny or any oversight. The question of what is meant by “national security” – and for whom – is a well-known one, and one frequently abused by states seeking to crackdown on human rights.

This law is therefore susceptible to abuse of power.

In a country where religion and politics have been increasingly meshed, in what many see as a way for political elites to strengthen their hold on power, the lack of definition for publication of material that “tends to corrupt morals” could be used as an omnibus provision to deal with people who hold different views from the strict impositions of biblical moral codes despite being atheist or not belonging to the Christian religion.

It is worrying that enacting this law in a parliament controlled by the governing party could deal with critics be they in Zambia or anywhere else in the world.

As the UN Human Rights Committee has made clear in its General Comment no 34 on Freedom of Opinion and Expression, “the concept of morals derives from many social, philosophical and religious traditions; consequently, limitations … for the purpose of protecting morals must be based on principles not deriving exclusively from a single tradition. Any such limitations must be understood in the light of universality of human rights and the principle of non-discrimination.”

In a number of countries religious “moral codes” have been used to suppress people’s rights to expression. We do not want to see Zambia go down the same path.

The litany of broadly and vaguely defined offences contained in Part IX of the law could be subject to interpretation by law enforcement officers who have also been given broad powers of arrest without providing sufficient safeguards to protect those who might fall foul of this law on the subjective whims of the arresting officer.

For example, law enforcement officers have the power to arrest without warrants where they have a reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed. The vagueness of definitions exacerbates this problem. For example, “hate” may mean any slight public disagreement with a state official. And if history is anything to go by, the Zambia police service has for many years been viewed by many as a vehicle for settling political scores by successive ruling elites.

In a year fraught with tension linked to the August general elections, one can imagine how this law could be applied to deal with political opponents. There are no safeguards to guarantee the right to privacy as authorities could move in on “suspects” without judicial safeguards to guarantee the right to privacy, liberty and other rights. The fact that law enforcement officers can demand information without giving a chance to “suspects” to ensure they do not self-incriminate is problematic.

It is worrying that enacting this law in a parliament controlled by the governing party could deal with critics be they in Zambia or anywhere else in the world.

In terms of this law Zambia has universal jurisdiction on crimes listed in the law; meaning that a person sitting in the US could unknowingly be committing a crime in Zambia if they exercised their first amendment rights. It seems fantastical that the government could ask for that person to be extradited to answer changes of contravening the law in Zambia. It is quite absurd and curious to imagine that a country like South Africa, with many constitutional protections for its citizens, would hand over a person if they posted a tweet that alleged that a politician was corrupt for enriching themselves on Zambia’s tax paper’s money. In any case, this would not fly in terms of the SADC Protocol on Extradition.

The speed with which this law was passed without due consideration to some of the issues raised above is highly concerning. Rather than provide security, this law could backfire against its promulgators in future, and history in Zambia is replete with examples of how laws meant to deal with dissent came back to bite those who had made them.

Laws must be made to protect everyone. Human rights are not an impediment to cybersecurity. In fact they could be complementary and mutually reinforcing and could be pursued to ensure security and human rights. It is not too late for lawmakers to amend some of the provisions of this law so that they are in line with Zambia’s human rights obligations, both domestically and globally. DM/MC

Zambian should have no doubt in their minds that a potential UPND Govnt is a disaster in waiting – Sean Tembo

PeP STATEMENT No.25 ISSUED ON TUESDAY, 6th APRIL 2021: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

1. As Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) we are not going to get tired of reminding the Zambian people that this year’s 12th August general elections present a unique opportunity to change the course of this nation for better and forever. Additionally, the Zambian people ought to be reminded that neither the ruling PF nor the main opposition UPND have what it takes to turnaround the Zambian economy and put it on a path of growth, sustainability and prosperity.

2. On one hand, the consecutive failures of the PF Government are well documented and self-evident in the shrinkage of the economy from a GDP of about US$28 billion in 2011 to a GDP of only US$19 billion in 2020, the rapid decline in the exchange rate from about K5 per dollar in 2011 to K22 per dollar today, from an average inflation rate of 6% in 2011 to average inflation of 21% in 2021, high levels of poverty and squalor among citizens as well as insatiable corruption whereby individual senior Government officials are by far richer than the Government that they work for. Indeed, every reasonable Zambian should have no doubt in their minds that the Patriotic Front and its Government have failed Zambians in the past 10 years, and need to be retired in the national interest.

3. On the other hand, the UPND has been claiming to be an alternative government in waiting and yet it has not offered any documented alternative solutions to the many problems facing the nation. It is our considered view that only a political party that has been offering documented alternative solutions to the many economic and social problems facing the nation can claim to be an alternative government in waiting. The UPND falls far short of this threshold and cannot, therefore be considered as an alternative government. Unless of course the Zambian people would like to change government just for the sake of it, like we did in 2011. However, it is our strong view that a change of government should bring about positive change from bad to good and not negative change from bad to worse. Electing UPND into office would represent negative change. Every reasonable Zambian should have no doubt in their minds that a potential UPND Government is a disaster in waiting.

4. However, in the midst of so much apparent doom, the Zambian people should be reminded that the Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) and its leader Mr Sean Tembo are an alternative government in waiting, not by proclamation but by deeds. The Patriots for Economic Progress is the only political party in Zambia that has been consistently and continuously developing and presenting alternative solutions to the many national problems that have besieged this country. The Patriots for Economic Progress developed documented alternative national budgets for the fiscal years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 in which detailed solutions to various national problems were outlined. More recently, the Patriots for Economic Progress developed and presented an alternative 7th National Development Plan as well as an alternative Economic Recovery Plan. Should the Zambian people be gracious enough to entrust us with their votes and give us the mandate to preside over the affairs on this Republic on 12th August, these documented alternative solutions to national problems will constitute a blueprint of a Sean Tembo presidency. Indeed, for the first time in a very long time, the Zambian people have an alternative government that actually has alternative solutions. Not an alternative government by proclamation only such as the UPND.

5. As Patriots for Economic Progress, we firmly believe that the onus now lies in the hands of the Zambian people. They can either continue with the incompetent and corrupt PF Government which will take this country nowhere. Or they can replace the PF Government with an equally incompetent UPND government which is an alternative government with no alternative solutions. An alternative government by proclamation only and not deeds. Or the Zambian people can defy all odds and usher into office a competent, visionary, upstanding, diligent, patriotic, venerable but little-known Patriots for Economic Progress and its leader Mr Sean Tembo. The Zambian people should think critically in making this decision as their future and that of their children depends on the soundness of the decision that they will make on 12th August.

Thank You and May God Bless the Good Citizens of the Republic of Zambia and Our Ailing Nation.

YOURS SINCERELY

WHY ECL SHOULD BE MAINTAINED BY CONVENTION DELEGATES

0

By Marvin Chanda Mberi

We welcome the decision by the Patriotic Front (PF)’s supreme policy and decision making body, the Central Committee’s resolution to unanimously endorse the candidature of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu as its party President and consequently the Presidential candidate in the upcoming general elections.

Here, we will explain why the PF delegates at the general conference should vote for President Lungu as the party’s leader and validate his candidature in his second year bid.

We are of the view that the decision to back ECL is evident based and responsive to the popular demands of both the PF elected leaders in various structures, the PF loyalists and the Nation at large.

Other stakeholders that have made relentless persuasion to ECL’s second term bid includes the traditional leaders who have endorsed him, the church, the non governmental organizations among others.

President Lungu deserves continuity as PF and Republican President because he has performed exceptionally and exemplary well in his service to the party and the nation at large.

It is public knowledge that at the time he took over as President, the party only had about 62 MPs but as at now the Parliamentary presence has been expanded and PF has close to 90 MPs.

Additionally, the PF support base in Parliament has attracted close to about 20 additional user friendly MPs from UPND, MMD, FDD and independent.

This clearly shows that President Lungu has made the PF an attractive political party among people’s elected representatives.

Another political goal ECL has scored is the increase of the party’s support base from 2011.

In 2011 the PF won with less than 50 % of the Presidential votes casted and in 2016 the party’s Presidential vote increased to more than 50 % of the votes casted in the first round.

We are well vested with the fact that during his tenure as party President, the party has made inroads even in the areas that have been perceived to be UPND strongholds to the extent that it has grabbed their seats.

The areas in question are Western and North Western provinces which saw high profile defections.

In our view, this does not just yield political benefits but justify our long held view that ECL is on course to unite the country.

This did not happen in isolation but it is the various strides that ECL has implemented at the helm of the party and the party has been made attractive.

We also recall the storm the party went through after the death of the founding father President Michael Chilufya Sata and in the party experienced mass exodus of the high profile and key figures of the party.

Others opted to wage internal rebellion against President Lungu.

With time, President Lungu started on the healing process and the once departed colleagues have come back and the once PF rebels have come back home and made peace with party and the President.

With these key highlights of President Lungu’s style of leadership, we see no basis upon which the party delegates at the convention should not vote for President Lungu.

While it is within the democratic rights of those wishing to challenge President Lungu at the conference, we are on the view that it will be betrayal of the collective will of the Zambian people not to ratify ECL’s candidacy.

ECL is the man and let the game begin.

Ginimbi’s SA millionaire friend regrets wild partying

The late Genius Kadungure’s millionaire friend Serge Caponge popularly known as Serge the ‘International Blesser’ says he regrets indulging in wild parties in a tell-all interview that left one of his associates revealing that in their Dubai vacations women would be sexually intimate with camels for their entertainment.

The Congolese born businessman, currently based in South Africa, first opened up to top SA tabloid Sunday World last month, where he revealed that he is “retiring from the game” to focus on philanthropic deeds.

“I blew up cash, throwing parties for slay queens and paying rent for them. At that time, I felt like I was doing the right thing and wanted to feel the power of my money,” he was quoted as saying.

He added that he had left the muddy world of blessers and made a behavioural metamorphosis.

The businessman said his desire to raise his only daughter without exposing her to different women, had motivated him to positively contribute to society.

“I’m tired of the game, we wanted to entertain the public when we started,” he said.

He went on to reveal to renowned podcaster Macgyver ‘MacG’ Mukwevho on the bizarre acts that their clique engaged in on foreign trips with slay queens.

“We would take girls to Dubai to have fun and entertain the people,” he told MacG.

In the same interview, startling revelations were also made that some of the women would be sexually intimate with camels for a payment and have sex with multiple men in a single day.

“Some of them (slay queens) are fierce to give camels blw jobs, (the rich Arabs who own the camels would) crap on their stomach or faces, crazy wild sex with different people and then get paid for that,” quipped in popular entertainer Phat Joe who was part of the interview.

A video that went viral two years ago showed women eating faeces in exchange for money.

Serge spoke glowingly on how Ginimbi would spoil bar tenders even in plush places like Los Angeles and Hollywood, United States.

“Inside the club, he would leave all the people smiling from bar tender to bouncer because he would tip them. Once I was with him in Los Angeles and Hollywood. I was shocked at how people were competing to get a selfie with him. Whenever we were traveling internationally he always looked for a place which sells African cuisine,” said Serge

He said Ginimbi’s favourite party joints were Club Taboo in Sandton, Moloko and Club Harlem in Pretoria where they always ‘lit’ the club and spent ‘big’.

Those are all things of the past and he has retired from the game, he revealed.

He said that lifestyle resulted in being labelled negatively, yet people did not know how hard they worked to become rich.

When he flew into Zimbabwe for Ginimbi’s funeral in November last year, he pledged to throw stacks of United States dollars in his grave.

He has also been linked to have deals with affable Zimbabwean businessmen like Mutumwa Mawere.

Interestingly, Mawere once had a heated social media spat with the late Ginimbi over claims of an outstanding debt.

Ginimbi, whose business footprint extended into South Africa and Botswana, died on November 8 in the early hours of the morning when his R5 million Rolls-Royce Wraith crashed into an oncoming Honda Fit before it veered off the road, smashed into a tree and went up in flames.

Three other three people who were with Ginimbi – physical trainer Michelle Amuli, 26, better known as Moana, and Limumba Karim, a Malawian national wanted in his home country for grand fraud, and a woman from Mozambique named only as “Elisha,” were burnt beyond recognition.

LIFE IS IN PF…that’s why everyone wants to be on the bandwagon of Dr ECL, says GBM

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema is an unsellable product that has been rejected by voters, says PF deputy national mobilisation chairman Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba.

He says, “Life is in PF. The future, unity is in PF. That is now why everyone wants to be in the bandwagon of Dr ECL

Mwamba, who served Hichilema’s running mate in the 2016 poll, said people like Charles Kakoma were leaving the UPND because they have realised that life is in the ruling PF.

In a telephone interview, Mwamba said voters were tired of voting for Hichilema and the UPND.

“The departure of Charles Kakoma from UPND is a clear sign that UPND has lost grip, in as far as the voters are concerned. They are fatigued voting for Hakainde Hichilema and his party for so many times and they have failed to take him to State House,” he said. “The man is not marketable, he is not sellable and I’m saying that from experience. We did our best some of us to market him, to make him sellable but unfortunately it was nil. Nobody wants to buy that product called HH and UPND. Even those that think he will make it come August 12, some of them are saying that out of frustration or they are trying to vote on tribal or ethnic lines.”

Asked if the defections were motivated by monetary gratification, Mwamba said such was a baseless accusation from the UPND who have run out of luck.

“Bought or not bought, still it is a loss to the UPND. Whether we buy in PF or we don’t buy, it is still the same because the vote and his supporters that were supposed to go to UPND has now come to PF. The excuse of saying because they have been bought and what have you is neither here nor there. It has no substance,” said Mwamba. “What UPND should concentrate on is to ask themselves, why are members leaving the party and all going in one direction, which is the PF under the able leadership of President Edgar Lungu, at a very fast pace. That means that is where they have seen life. Life is in PF. The future, unity is in PF. That is now why everyone wants to be in the bandwagon of Dr ECL.”

On Tuesday last week, Kakoma, who was UPND chairperson for commerce, trade and industry defected to the ruling PF.

NO HH ON THE BALLOT, NO ELECTIONS – UPND youths warn PF

0

*

Lusaka~5th March 2021.

A consortium of United Party for National Development (UPND) youths from the country’s ten provinces resolved that any manoeuvre by PF government to remove HH from the ballot will be met with serious consequences.

The consortium, which comprises of UPND provincial youth chairpersons from Luapula, Northern, Central, Copperbelt, Lusaka, Western, North Western and Eastern provinces told journalists in Lusaka this morning that plans to arrest Mr Hichilema by the PF would be met with full force.

Lyson Nyirenda, who’s Eastern Province Youth Chairperson accused the PF-led Government, told journalists that the UPND was aware of manoeuvres to try and implicate Mr Hichilema so that he doesn’t successfully file in his nominations papers next month.

He warned that there would be no elections if Mr Hichilema is deliberately not allowed to appear on the ballot, adding that whoever touches Mr Hichilema touches every Zambian.

“We people in the East are very unfortunate because we have the President, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services and the infrastructure Development Minister who all hail from the east yet we are very impoverished with poor roadnetwork.
We’ve had enough hate from PF ” he charged.

In echoing Mr Nyirenda, UPND National Youth Chairperson, Gilbert Liswaniso says youths in UPND are more than ready to bite the bullet, adding that the party’s youths had resolved to stand by President Hichilema and ensure that he is ushered into state house courtesy of the Zambian people.

Lusaka Province UPND Youth Chairperson, Anderson Banda, says the PF will democratically because Zambians have suffered enough.

He said that UPND has been closely monitoring the manoeuvres and schemes of the PF to implicate Mr Hichilema and prevent him from appearing on the 2021 ballot.

In his submissions, Luapula UPND Youth Chairperson, Nelson Kalembwe warned that arresting HH on flimsy grounds would lead to wide spread chaos in the country.

He also called on the PF to build more more prisons if they wanted to proceed with their plans to bar him from appearing on the 2021 Presidential ballot.

Milner Mwanakampwe, who is the Central UPND Youth Chairperson, charged that the ECZ’s biased handling of the elections and disregard for the Electoral processes has the potential to bleed anarchy.

“Not handling the electoral process properly has the potential to bleed anarchy.

We are also giving the Police IG 24 hours to release those who are unjustly held in police cells.

We are aware that the continued holding of the four officials is aimed at accusing HH so that he is barred from contesting the forthcoming polls.

This follows statements that from PF leaders and officials that a Tonga will never rule while some say HH will never rule.

We wish to call on the PF leadership that going for HH is not the noblest of things for him to do if he wants the country to be safe,” he said.

Northwestern Province Youth Chairperson, Bruce Kanema, Western Province, Jack Mwanga, Muchinga Youth Chairperson, Brown Simbeye and Paul Mulenga of Northern Province were among the youth leaders who attended the briefing.

I Was Married At 20, Divorced At 22 – Don Jazzy

0

Don Jazzy says the marriage didn’t work out because “he made music a priority instead of his family”.

Mavin Records head honcho, Don Jazzy, has for the first time ever opened up about his love life on his official Instagram handle.

Don Jazzy, whose real name is Micheal Akereh, has revealed that he was married to UK-based model and writer, Michelle Jackson, almost 18 years ago.

The marriage, he said, was however shortlived as they parted ways two years after.

The 38-year-old star producer’s revelation comes on the heels of a tell-all interview he granted Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on his show- BlackBox series.

During the interview, with Ebuka, he spoke about his new home, rumours that he was broke, growing up in Ajegunle and also revealed that dancehall star, Daddy Showkey, is his relative.

Regrets

Revealing why the marriage didn’t work out, he said it was because he made music priority instead of his family.

“We got divorced when I was 22 and it hurt. I am still very much in love with my music and I wouldn’t want to marry another and f**k it up again. So I’m taking my time,” he wrote on his the Instagram post.
As one of Nigeria’s most eligible bachelors, Don Jazzy has never been one to divulge any information about his love life.

He has never been romantically linked with any lady in recent times. He was once rumored as having dated Erica of BBNaija fame and Tonto Dikeh. These claims were never substantiated.

Justifying why he was revealing details of his love life, he said, he “felt bad skipping this huge part of my life” out of the interview with Ebuka.

During an interview two months ago, Don Jazzy claimed that he does not have the capability to be “monogamous”.

He said, “I don’t believe I’m strong enough to be with just one person. Yes, I think people will run away from me for being truthful.

“I cannot be dating you and tell you that you are the only one am dating”.

“Dead and buried” Chadiza man resurfaces at Chipata Central Hospital after 17 years

“Dead and buried” Chadiza man resurfaces at Chipata Central Hospital after 17 years

AS CHRISTIANS world over are celebrating the reported death and ressurrection of Jesus many years ago, the people of Chipata in Eastern Province are also dealing with a local ressurrection of their own.

Chigomola Zulu aged 47 who is said to have died and was buried in March 2004 has resurfaced at Chipata Central Hospital.

Zulu who was a practicing withcdoctor under the name “Sesema Mkango Wamfiti” in Chipata kicked the proverbial bucket hard after suffering from tonsils and a swollen tongue and was buried with a heavy concrete tombstone put on his resting place.

However, Zulu’s relatives are shocked to find him alive and kicking 17 years later.

The “late” Zulu was discovered on Friday by his sister-in-law admitted to the same hospital where he died from.

Upon seeing him, the sister in-law’s eyes popped out wide as she screamed out of the hospital in a blistering run leaving her Chitenge and left slipper dropping on the hospital corridor.

When she reached home, people had to pour buckets-upon-buckets of water on her to cool down before she could tell the tale.

Her bizarre and intriguing story has not only gotten tongues wagging but sent shivers down the spines of medical personnel that they have been treating a ressurected man.

Meanwhile, like Mufulira people thronging their new Hungry Lion, people of the East are trotting to Chipata Central Hospital to have a glimpse of the ressurected juju man forcing police to deploy officers as guides of the ever-swelling mob.

Meanwhile, in an interview with #kalemba, Zulu claimed that he ressurected four days after his death and embarked on a wandering trip round the country and Zimbabwe.

However, after arriving in Luapula in 2006, Zulu committed a murder in Mansa for which he was convicted and jailed.

And in the usual prisoner transfer, Zulu was brought to Chipata’s Namuseche Prison where he fell sick and was admitted to the place of his death, Chipata Central Hospital and consequently discovered by his relatives.

Zulu’s tale has also shocked Police in Eastern Province who say the only way to confirm; is to visit his “burial site” in Chadiza, dig it up and see what is there.

Eastern Province Police Commissioner Geza Lungu said officers had visited and interviewed Zulu who is now under heavy Security in private ward. He said police cannot dispell Zulu’s claims at the moment.

Like doubting Thomas, Lungu has assembled a team of pathologists to dig and inspect Zulu’s grave in Chadiza and confirm if truly it’s empty.

Commissioner Lungu told #Kalemba that upon being discharged from hospital on Tuesday, Zulu along with his relatives will lead police to his burial place.

South African man who raped his stepdaughter over 900 times sentenced to 400 years imprisonment

A 46-year-old man who raped his 10-year-old stepdaughter close to 1,000 times over five years was sentenced to nine life terms in the Durban high court in South Africa on Friday, March 26.

The man was further given a 173-year prison sentence after being found guilty of 56 counts relating to rape, human trafficking, sexual grooming, sexual abuse and distribution of child pornography.

The Sunday Times Daily reported that the man, an auto electrician by trade who cannot be named to protect the identity of the child, had also deliberately laced his fingers with acid to burn off his fingerprints in an apparent attempt to prevent him being linked to other crimes.

He was arrested in June 2018 at his home in Verulam, north of Durban, after the child confided in a neighbour about the alleged abuses.

The neighbour rallied a group of women who confronted the man when he returned home from work.

Private security company Reaction Unit SA (Rusa) spokesperson Prem Balram said they were called in for assistance after a group of residents had discovered horrifying videos of the rapes on the man’s mobile phone.

“His mobile phone was confiscated and several video recordings of rape were found. Recordings of other men and woman engaged in sexual activity with the child were also found on the memory card. Pictures of the accused using woman’s lingerie were also discovered on the phone.”

Dildos and other sex toys used to penetrate the girl during sexual acts were also confiscated in the home.

During the trial, it was revealed the man had raped his stepdaughter since the death of her mother in 2013 almost every second day at their residences in Benoni, Effingham, Pinetown, Reservoir Hills, Sydenham and other areas in Gauteng and Kwazulu-Natal.

Judge Mohini Moodley found the accused guilty of all 56 charges and said he should be registered as a sex offender and not be allowed near the child.

Moodley said the stepfather had prostituted the child for financial gain and the investigating officer, Nevarge Lutchminarain of the Verulam family violence, child protection and sexual offences unit, should pursue charges against all those who abused the child sexually.

Reading out her lengthy sentence, Moodley said the man showed no empathy towards the child, moving her from one home to another. Preventing her from having any communication with other children or her community.

She said she found it troubling that with three young biological daughters of his own, the accused felt nothing for the survivor but instead exposed her to pornography and recruited others to groom her.

Judge Moodley said the man was driven by his own ego and lies. This was evident in how he once stormed out of the witness box and hurled abuse and threats in court while claiming to be the victim of betrayal.

She said although a first-time offender rehabilitation was out of the equation as once a heinous crime is committed repeatedly to such an extent, then the safety of the community takes priority.

Investigating officer, Lutchminarain had previously detailed how the accused had issued threats to all those who he felt had contributed to his incarceration.

“I spoke to the applicant and he told me to pass on a message to the victim, specifically not to forget what he had promised her. When I spoke to her, she said the applicant had told her if she went to the police they would both be locked up and he would put her in the same place he put her mother,” he said.

The one-bedroom home where the man had kept the girl hostage for years had one entrance with a bolted door and windows blacked out with newspaper.

The rapist will serve his almost 400-year prison sentence at Durban’s Westville Correctional Centre.
