Meet Ivan Semwanga, Ginimbi’s Millionaire Friend Who Died At 40

Meet Ivan Semwanga, Ginimbi’s Millionaire Friend Who Died At 40

There is a saying that goes, ‘show me your friend and I will tell you who you are’. Indeed it really applies to the real life of the late Zimbabwean businessman & socialite who died in the wee hours of Sunday last week alongside his three friends after a long night of celebrating a birthday of a friend. Born Genius Kadungure & affectionately known as Ginimbi by his enthusiasts, even a blind man could see his riches ranging from pricey supercars & a gigantic mansion built in the mountainous area of his home village, Domboshava.

On the other side of the coin is his longtime Ugandan rich friend & fellow businessman who sadly passed away in 2017. Judging from the way he was flashing the American dollars and sports cars on the internet, Ivan Semwanga lived his life to the fullest just like his friend Kadungure. As the nation mourns the untimely passing of the business tycoon, we have decided to look into the life of his friend who passed away three years ago at the age of 40 as we celebrate their lives.

Although his home country was Uganda, Ginimbi’s friend was based in South Africa where he took his last breath. The generous Ivan made headlines back then in February 2017 when he ordered people from his home country to line up so that he give them money. Just like his late friend Ginimbi, Ivan’s source of wealth was not clear although there were speculations that he was a native doctor who only targeted the rich clientele. According to a separate report, he used to run a number of schools that he inherited from his late white employers.

The Ugandan tycoon’s funeral was celebrated in style as Sh5 million was reserved for alcohol to celebrate his life. According to the funeral committee,5 beasts were slaughtered during his unique send-off. The two businessmen used to spend time together during the period when Ginimbi was based in South Africa. He also featured in some of the once-popular white parties that were hosted by the late Kadungure every year.

Sadly, Ivan suffered a heart attack after leaving Uganda and was admitted to Steve Biko Hospital in Pretoria where his ex-wife, Zari took care of him. He eventually passed away on Thursday, 25 May 2017. Below are some of his pictures that equally depict indeed the young man who lived his life to the fullest.

CURRENT VOTERS REGISTRATION EXERCISE NOT CONDUCIVE FOR WOMEN TO REGISTER ~ TETAMASHIMBA

……….as she appeals to the Electoral Commission of Zambia to maintain the old voters register to allow more women to exercise their constitutional right to vote in 2021 elections

United Party for National Development (UPND) North Western Province Women Vice Chairperson for Mobilization says the flaws in the ongoing voters registration exercise will deter a lot of women espercially the elderly to register as voters in the forth-coming 2021 General Elections.

Ms.Tetamashimba, said this after she and her team conducted a tour around some polling stations in Solwezi and Kalumbila District this morning.

“it is disheartening to see some women travelling long distances with babies and some expectant mothers including the elderly sitting the whole day without being attended to because ECZ could only manage to register about 40 – 50 voters due to the process which is slow, a thing that may discourage many women to register”.

Ms.Tetamashimba said the flaws in the on-going voter registration are a clear indicator that ECZ still needs the maintain and update the old Voters Register to allow all eligible voters to register and vote.

“ It’s suspicious that ECZ has totally ignored the voice of the people demanding that the old voters register should be maintained and opted to impose a decision on the Zambian people by discarding the old voters register and come up with a new one which every Zambian has said no to knowing too well that reaching the expected 9 million voters is practically impossible.” said Tetamashimba.

She agreed with President Hakainde Hichilema that ECZ is indeed playing games following that there was no census for ECZ to estimate the huge numbers they want to capture without putting in place the needed resources for an effective voters registration.

“The right to vote is a constitutional and ECZ should not stand against the right of women to vote by not allowing them easy access to register due to their pathetic system, ” said Ms Tetamashimba.

She further encouraged everyone who is above 18 years and older to get a National Registration Card and later register to vote.

Meanwhile Ms Tetamashimba has called on all Zambians to ensure that those eligible register to vote.

“ Let us assist all our family members and others to register as this is our right and key to open to the door that will lead a better Zambia with it’s citizens living better lives,” said Ms Tetamashimba.

LUNGU INELIGIBLE…ConCourt didn’t directly pronounce itself on his rights to stand in 2021 – Kayula

0

A LAW lecturer at the University of Zambia says the third term President Edgar Lungu is illegally fighting for is subtle when compared to the failed 2001 bid by Frederick Chiluba.

In his write-up titled: ‘Why President Lungu is not eligible to contest for re-election in 2021’, James Kayula warns that “Zambia faces a pernicious third term campaign and its far-reaching consequences”.

“Unlike the failed 2001 third term bid by the late president Frederick Chiluba, whose illegality was ‘naked’ to everyone’s eye, the current third term is subtle and benign as it presents itself in somewhat misplaced apparel of legitimacy provided by the Constitutional Court,” he wrote. “Yet, when stripped to its barest, it is simply a third term bid akin to that of the late [Pierre] Nkurunziza of Burundi, whose rule was not far from despotic.”

Kayula warned that the ruling of the Constitutional Court on President Lungu’s eligibility would potentially plunge the country into a crisis.

He argued that the Court avoided the actual question on eligibility and pronounced itself on irrelevant things.

“According to the Constitutional Court’s interpretation, any person who serves in the office of president for less than three years would be regarded not to have held office. This position is extremely dangerous and has the effect of wiping out the concept of term limit,” Kayula contended. “…This unscrupulous conduct can go on and on, unchecked, especially if the country had a brazen and emboldened individual as president, and unfortunately, Zambia is not short of such persons. Effectively, the interpretation of the Constitutional Court has the potential to rob the Constitution of this critical institutional barrier of term limit, and inadvertently and potentially re-introduce ‘life president’ and its dreaded evils. In the wake of legal advocacy and strengthening of the rule of law, this will not be allowed to pass.”

Kayula said the Constitutional Court still had a chance to atone for its poor judgment by openly declaring President Lungu ineligible to stand.

“The Constitutional Court, however, has a golden opportunity to reconcile itself with and revive the spirit of term limit since it did not directly pronounce itself on the rights of Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu to stand in 2021 on account that he was not a party to the case,” Kayula said. “As a consequence, this case was largely hypothetical and academic in the interpretation of the constitutional provisions dealing with the issue of eligibility. In having a ‘second bite at the cherry’, the Constitutional Court can, in 2021 unwrap itself from this web of constitutional crisis by declaring the incumbent ineligible to stand.”

He said the Constitutional Court ignored the actual issue at hand and ruled on a wrong matter.

Kayula further argued that the ConCourt presumed that President Lungu was already vice-president before he succeeded late president Michael Sata when in fact not.

“It must, however, be quickly noted and emphasised that Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu did not ascend to the office of president because he was vice-president or as a result of an election held because the then vice-president could not, for any reason, assume the office of president,” said Kayula. “The Constitutional Court, nevertheless, in the case of Daniel Pule & Others v. Attorney General, Judgment No. 60 of 2018, suggestively regarded Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu as one who assumed power under Article 106 (6), and stated that since the period from 25thJanuary 2015 to 13th September 2016 was less than three years, the incumbent would not be regarded as having served a full term. What is intriguing, curious and strikingly questionable is why the Constitutional Court seemed to have fitted the incumbent within Article 106 (6), when it is in fact very clear, factually, that the circumstances in which the incumbent assumed the Office of President are completely different from those contemplated under article 106 (6).”

UPND FEMALE 2021 ASPIRANTS JOIN FORCES

Lusaka – 12/11/20

Lusaka based UPND female political aspirants have launched a committee aimed at supporting each other in the run upto the 2021 election adoption process.

The committee which includes aspirants at both parliamentary and local government levels was formed with a sole purpose to raise funds and morally support each other as well as to lobby the party hierarchy to adopt more women aspirants.

Speaking at a media briefing at the UPND secretariat in Lusaka yesterday,Committee Secretary Chomba Nakazwe said the failure to adopt women to positions of influence only goes to undermine the quality of democracy in the country.

Ms Nakazwe who is Lusaka Central’s Independence ward aspirant said the 4% female representation in especially Parliament was too inadequate hence the need to allow them to fully participate in the wellbeing of the country.

And Mkaika Constituency aspiring candidate Elina Sakala has appealed to the UPND national management committee to consider adopting more women in the 2021 elections saying women were at the centre of all socioeconomic challenges in the country.

Meanwhile, Committee Treasurer Kabunda Nachoombe said in as much as the UPND has been supportive of female aspirants, there is need to actualise that support into adoptions while Silwizya ward aspirant Ketty Nanyangwe said the female aspirants stand ready to ensure that President Hakainde Hichilema’s victory next year is guaranteed.

Ms Nanyangwe who is also the Committee Publicity Secretary said the fall of constitutional amendment Bill 10 will not stand in their way to adoption as President Hakainde Hichilema has already assured them of his resolve to ensure that more women are adopted into positions of influence.

And Lusaka Provincial Chairlady Rosa Zulu said women in the UPND were resolved to aspire for parliamentary and local government seats despite the uneven playing field.

Ms Zulu who is also Committee Chairperson said women have not been spared by the political violence, harassment and intimidation hence their inertia in taking part in the governance of the country.

She however expressed confidence that UPND women have come through the mill and were ready to meet the political challenges head on and assured them of the party’s support.

The briefing was attended by several female aspirants drawn from across the country but resident in Lusaka.

The PF must stop its anti-Tonga tribalism

0

Bowman Lusambo, a Lamba, convened a political meeting in Kapiri Mposhi. The reason why I am mentioning Mr Lusambo’s tribe will be apparent in the subsequent paragraphs.

The campaign-style meeting had a huge crowd of people. For some reason, Bowman is attracting huge crowds everywhere he goes “mobilising” the Patriotic Front. After some artists had sung and danced for him – it was now time for the speeches. Perhaps the most bizarre of all speeches came from the Patriotic Front chair of the Central Province – a very foolish man by the name of Chanda Mutale. Speaking in the Bemba language – Mr Chanda Mutale spewed out of his mouth things that can very quickly bring this nation to the brink of war.

Here is a verbatim print of what Mr Chanda Mutale said: Hakainde ico a fwaya kweba ati akabule icalo cino akacipilibule bonse tuka sanguke aba Tonga (Hakainde wants to turn this country into a Tonga country).

It is time to condemn such anti-Tonga sentiments. All the good people of Zambia must stand together to condemn this type of tribalism. If we had a serious leader or president, we would not have had ruling party thugs promoting such blatant hatred for Zambians. This thug is wrong for several reasons.

Zambia is a collection of all tribes. Some people like this Chanda Mutale thug think that Zambia is a Bemba country to which they invited other tribes to help them. Zambia is a collection of tribes, and each tribe contributes to the efficacy of our Republic. That being the case, there is absolutely no reason to fear Tongas, as if Tongas will somehow destroy Chanda Mutale or the ilks of his character.

Tribal divisions are quite overrated. Zambians cannot tell each other apart. If someone does not tell you their tribe, or their name – you cannot tell which tribe someone belongs to. And so, while Mr Chanda Mutale’s little bones are filled with hatred for Tongas – an independent observer cannot tell the difference between this thug and any other citizen of our country.

There was a certain tribalist priest who had a Bemba-sounding name. He spewed a lot of anti-Tonga sentiments only to tell us much later that his father was a Tonga. No one could tell his Tonganess because Zambians really cannot tell each other apart. It came as a shock that in fact, that particular Bwalya was indeed fathered by a Tonga. This should lead us to one thing – we need to extend tremendous hospitality to everyone in Zambia, no matter the socially constructed barriers of the tribe.

I have advocated in the past, that to fight tribalism in Zambia, we must fight sentiments like the ones that Chanda the thug spewed in Kapiri. But more than that, we must also recognise the importance of the other. We should not try to obliterate the presence of the other. Instead, we must try to recognise and appreciate the efforts of all. That is what it means to be One Zambia, One Nation – a nation that respects diversity and appreciates all her citizens equally.

Tonga citizens of our country must be walking with their heads held high. Zambia is their country, and they should never feel like they are begging to belong to it. If Zambians choose to elect a Tonga for president, let it be. Zambia is for all and each one shares in its viability equally.

Since we are a Christian nation, I must now address the deafening silence of Christians on this matter. By far, Pentecostals have the ears of this government. They must speak out against tribalism coming from PF leaders. It is time to be Christians, not in name only, but also action. Anyone who incites violence or insults a Zambian must be condemned, and the churches should be clear about this.

Zambia has grown as a result of the hospitality of all its citizens. The Lambas of Zambia welcomed people from all tribes to settle in their lands. This is why it is shocking that a Lamba – Bowman Lusambo will be the curtain-raiser for Chanda Mutale – that tribalist thug whose tribalism soiled the sacred memory of our collective. May God bless our country.

Bill 10 could have helped to address the inequalities between women, youths-President Lungu

0

President Edgar Lungu has said that he regrets the failure to pass the Constitution Amendment Bill 10 of 2020.

Speaking when he met traditional leaders in Mkushi District of Central Province today, President Lungu said the passage of Bill 10 could have enhanced the inclusion of women, youths and differently abled people in governance.

President Lungu said Bill 10 could have helped to address the inequalities between women, youths, and differently-abled people in governance.

He said he did not see anything wrong to extend the period in which to petition an election and the inclusion of special groups in governance as was embedded in Bill 10.

Mr. Lungu has also assured the chiefs that his administration will look into their transport challenges to enhance their administrative duties.

He said the government will also continue to work on feeder roads to improve the movement of farm produce and easy the accessibility of various social services.

He further added that the government will continue with the early and timely distribution of farming inputs as a way of promoting the growth of the agricultural sector.

And President Edgar Lungu has noted that the Church and government continue to be partners in national development.

President Lungu says the Church and government have similar desire and mandate to make sure that the lives of the Zambian citizenry are improved upon.

He reaffirmed governments continued support to the Church by providing what is needed.

Speaking in Luano district in Central Province during a meeting with the Clergy yesterday afternoon, President Lungu expressed happiness that the Church in Luano already has a framework that has integrated people so as to improve their wellbeing.

“I’m glad that you are talking about development. Development has no finishing line. There is always more that needs to be done,” the President said.

President Lungu further assured the Clergy that government will expedite programmes to alleviate the suffering of the people in the district including the civil servants that are employed in the area.

“We will do everything that is required in a new district to make Luano district a reality. It is good that we have the Clergy here that are committed to the wellbeing of the people,” stated President Lungu.

And Representative for the Clergy, Reverend Stanley Msiska from the Reconciliation Life Church International, thanked President Lungu for recognizing the Church and the role it plays in national development.

Rev. Msiska noted that the inclusion of the Clergy in government’s developmental programmes is a plus to government.

“We are honoured and privileged to have a President who has put the Clergy on top of government’s agenda. As the Clergy in Luano district, we pledge our continued support all the way,” he said.

Rev. Msiska also called on President Lungu to help address challenges faced in the district.

Earlier, President Lungu held separate meetings with traditional leaders in the district and the Head men to engage them in matters of national development and also to learn of their challenges.

Former presidential candidate Kanye West sued for $1 million in unpaid wages

0

Kanye West has been sued in a class-action lawsuit for unpaid wages connected to his Nebuchadnezzar Live opera. The failed presidential aspirant was sued by a group of workers who helped with his live musical production called the Hollywood Bowl.

The rapper, who is believed to be a billionaire, is accused of owing “unpaid wages” and failing to pay minimum wage and overtime when he hosted the Hollywood Bowl in 2019. He premiered the opera in December last year, after releasing his debut gospel album, ‘Jesus Is King’.

Legal documents obtained by Complex said the plaintiffs, including background actors and hairstylists, alleged they were not properly compensated for their production work. A hairstylist revealed that she was supposed to be paid $550 for two days of work but received $530 after four months and was charged $20 for a wire fee in violation of California‘s labor code.

The lawsuit also states that organizers “failed to properly compensate the hair assistant and many dozens of other persons who performed services on the production, including the background actors performing as audience members”.

“The defendants oversaw, controlled and ran the production, and the aggrieved employees worked many hours on the production and were not timely paid for their work, or paid at all,” the suit read.

“In addition, Defendants misclassified Plaintiffs and Aggrieved Employees as independent contractors as no deductions were made for payroll taxes.”

The suit was reportedly filed in July and the plaintiffs have been seeking “unpaid wages, continuing wages, damages, civil penalties, statutory penalties, and attorneys’ fees and costs.” Live Nation, the company behind the production, has also been listed as a defendant.

West, known for controversies, has been mooting several propositions apart from his recent presidential run. Recently, he revealed his plan to build a ‘city of the future’ on an island in Haiti.

Touching on the subject during an interview on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast in October, the 43-year-old explained how the project would benefit locals on the island.

“We go to Haiti and the president gives us this island to develop; to make it a city of the future,” Kanye said. “We’re gonna have the farmers and the people that live there take ownership of the land they have right now so when it raises in value, they all eat.”

West’s announcement of the partnership with Haitian president Jovenel Moïse and his government, however, did not sit down well with some people on social media, prompting him to clarify the details of the agreement on his Twitter page on October 27, GQ reports.

“Just to be CLEAR: WE ARE IN ENGAGED WITH HAITI’s GOVERNMENT to make a transformational INVESTMENT to bring JOBS, DEVELOPMENT, HELP SUPPORT LOCAL FARMERS and FISHERMEN and Build a new « CITY OF THE FUTURE » in a very beautiful country,” he tweeted.

Is It The Term Or Holding Office In Contention On President Edgar Lungu’s Eligibility Debate?

0

By McDonald Chipenzi
IS IT THE TERM OR HOLDING OFFICE IN CONTENTION ON PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU’S ELIGIBILITY DEBATE?

It was amazing listening and watching a video clip of President EDGAR CHAGWA LUNGU claiming he has only served one TERM because the 2015 one was for the Late Michael Sata.

Even if power is sweet, such sentiments are least expected from a lawyer of many years of practice unless he wants to mislead himself as he did to his ministers in 2016.

The law is clear and instructive on the TERM and the COnCourt asserted itself on the issue of the term which is noncontestable by all standards in line with Art 106(6).

However, the law and the Constitution do not disqualify anyone on account of SERVING A TERM OR TWO TERMS but for “HOLDING OFFICE TWICE”.

The provision of the serving two Terms as disqualification was in the previous provisions in the Constitution.

The current Constitution does not even mention a term as an issue of contention or disqualification for one to aspire for the office of Presidency in Zambia.

What Article 106 (1) talks about is only a term for the President which is put at five years running concurrently with that of parliament except the President stays on until the President-elect is sworn into office.

Article 106(3) clearly makes it as a disqualification for any person who has HELD OFFICE TWICE AS PRESIDENT. SUCH A PERSON IS NOT eligible for election as President.

This article does not even talk about one serving two Terms or elected twice but one who has held office twice is not eligible to aspire for the 3rd holding of office.

How, then, does one hold office according to the law and the current Constitution?

Article 106(2) guides that ” a President shall HOLD OFFICE from the date the President-elect is sworn into office and ending on the date the next President-elect is sworn into office”. Hasn’t President Lungu done that? He has. So he does not qualify to hold office thrice.

From the above, the spirit and letter of the constitutional provision is not about the TERM limit but the holding of OFFICE LIMIT which is an issue and in contention.

The constitution define HOLDING OFFICE as being SWORN INTO OFFICE AND ENDING ON THE DATE THE NEXT PRESIDENT-ELECT IS SWORN INTO OFFICE AND not when the TERM expires.

President Lungu was sworn into office in 2015 and this ended when in August 2016 after Gereral Election he became President-elect and in September 2016 this President-elect, EDGAR CHAGWA LUNGU was sworn into office to hold the same office as President for the second time or twice.

This second or twice holding of office started in September 2016 when he was sworn into office and will end when the President-elect shall be sworn into office after the August 2021 General Election.

And what is sworn into office of President-elect mean? Article 105 (1) instructs that “the President-elect shall assume office after being sworn in by the Chief Justice or, in the absence of the Chief Justice, the Deputy Chief Justice.

Now, wasn’t President Lungu sworn into office twice? Yes he did when he was first elected in 2015 by the Chief Justice and in 2016, Yes, he did though under contention whether it was the Justices that swore him in or the Registrar of the Judiciary!

To this end, President Lungu must not cheat himself that he qualifies to HOLD OFFICE for the THIRD TIME. He does not even slightest qualify by law may be only as PF party president .

I am very sure that the Presidential Nomination Form for 2021 General Election will have a clause that will require all aspirants to indicate whether they have HELD OFFICE TWICE AS PRESIDENT in accordance with Article 106(3) of the republican Constitution?

What will be President LUNGU’s response? NO OR YES? And MIND YOU giving false INFORMATION TO A PUBLIC OFFIER OR making false declaration is an offence in Zambia.

I submit.

Improve Your Efficiency Or Leave The Old Voters Roll Alone, Musokotwane Urges The Elections Body

IMPROVE YOUR EFFICIENCY OR LEAVE THE OLD VOTERS ROLL ALONE MUSOKOTWANE URGES THE ELECTIONS BODY.

By UPND reporter

UPND parliamentary whip Situmbeko Musokotwane has demanded for the immediate increase in the number competent Electoral Commission of Zambia officials handling the voter registration exercise to avoid disfranchising eligible citizens in the forthcoming national general elections slated for 2021.

Dr Situmbeko says the lack of adequate manpower and equipment at polling stations especially in rural areas were disappointing and called on the elections body to consider maintaining the current voters roll which has more than 6 million registered voters and concentrate on new voters if it is to meet its 9 million target.

He said reports reaching his office from UPND Members of Parliament across the country provide a gloomy picture of the exercise hence the need for the commission to put its act in order and serve the nation in accordance with its mandate and not disfranchise eligible voters of their democratic right.

Dr Musokotwane who is also Liuwa UPND lawmaker said reports reaching him from the constituency indicate faulty machines such as dry ink and faulty generators resulting into only 13 people obtaining the cards at one polling station at the opening of the exercise.

“The exercise is very slow as ECZ has only dispatched one poll officer to each polling station who is doing all the activities such as taking down details, biometrics and laminating which is quiet too much for an individual. We demand as Members of Parliament of the UPND that the ECZ immediately dispatches more manpower to the stations to make the process more effective. You cant have a single officer and expect to achieve maximum results. This is a lie.We only have 30 days and the rate at which the exercise is being handled is scarely,he said.

He further added that the failure by the government to conduct the nationwide census exercise due to lack of funds has not helped matters as the country was operating on guess work in as far as the number of eligible voters is concerned, saying the lack of funds has had an adverse effect on social programs such as the registration of voters.

“When we advised the Patriotic Front that the number of induced by-elections was not helping the nation as too much resources were being allocated towards such exercises, they thought we were joking and called us all sorts of names. Now look what is happening,ECZ is broke because all funds went towards by-elections.We are now where we are due to lack of prudent management of resources”.

Dr Musokotwane was speaking when he addressed the media this morning at the UPND secretariat.

HH SHOULD HONOR HIS PROMISE TO GIVE ME THE HOUSE BECAUSE I HAVE EVIDENCE ON HOW HE CORRUPTLY BENEFITED FROM PRIVATISATION
===============
It has been a night of threats and insults, but I am not paying attention to that, we have to finish this, I am no longer interested in the commission of Inquiry, I am going to the ACC and police and drag HH to court, because the evidence is overwhelming with witnesses ready to testify.

I wonder why you are threatening and insulting me when HH had invited people to bring evidence…….this is all I am doing.

Remember sometime back HH featured on Radio Christian Voice and promised that, if anyone has evidence, he should bring it out and he will give that person a 3 Bedroom house.

Well…..I have that evidence and I am assuring you, I will prove this case, “this is not political “FACTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES”, and they will speak in this case, like they did in BaKambwili’s case.

If you look at BaKambwili’s complaints in his press conference, his lamentations were on the Magistrate but nothing on the evidence. because “Facts speak for themselves”.

I urge all those who would have been deprived of anything, a house or money to contact me, so that I can include you among the cases I already have.

Meanwhile I want to know the whereabouts of Norman Mbazima, he was joint Liquidator of ZIMCO together with Mr. S.B. Musonda, but the latter was a good man, while the former is mentioned in a number of issues acting together with Mr. Hakainde Hichilema.

I will hold a Press conference, on Sunday, where I will lay down the evidence then go to ACC and police on Monday.

You can be rest assured that, Mr. Hichilema knows that the chickens have come to roost, because he knows what he did especially with this Norman Mbazima and Sun Hotel.

Don’t think I am stupid, I know HH is a powerful guy with a lot of resources and connections coupled with big lawyers behind him, but I am representing the plight of the poor, God does not sleep when the poor cries.

People lost houses and benefits while HH became rich and today he is masquerading as a saviour, it is not true and I will prove this case.

On Monday I will be at ACC and the police. You can insult as much as you want and I don’t care about your threats because HH can never keep hiding the truth, it will eventually catch up with him.

ECZ NEEDS HELP THEY SHOULD STOP PRETENDING SAYS MUCHELEKA

ECZ NEEDS HELP THEY SHOULD STOP PRETENDING SAYS MUCHELEKA.

UPND Deputy Secretary General in charge of Politics Hon Patrick Mucheleka has charged that the current state of ECZ must swallow their pride and call for help because they are compromised and infiltrated by PF cadres.

Hon Mucheleka says that it’s not a hidden matter that PF are dictating what ECZ does in their own interests. He said that the ongoing voter registration countrywide by ECZ whereby the process is very slow has worried stakeholders in the country because it will take a miracle for 9 million Zambians to be issued with voters cards. He said that ECZ can not give Zambians any lame excuse of not having manpower, faulty equipments or it’s staffs reporting very late and still expect to reach the impossible targets. He has observed that PF government had enough time to register Zambians in the more stable way than the current rush hour going of 30 days which he said it’s an impossible task.

Hon Mucheleka was speaking today at United voice station where he featured on the topic ” is ECZ capable of handling the next years general elections “. Hon Mucheleka argued that in as much as what ECZ can say they need help and it’s only by admitting that they do need help will that help come otherwise it will not do any good to Zambians because the pace at which time is progressing many Zambians will be defrachised from participating in the next years elections.

He said that the process of continuous voter registration was supposed to be an ongoing project be a funds were there and had it not been for numerous induced by elections PF kept the nation in an endless by elections except for those that where caused by death Zambia was going to save money and channel it to the important exercise as this one (voter registration). And her his rival Hon Mumbi Phiri the deputy secretary general of PF phoned and responded in affirmative that indeed ECZ was capable of handling the process because it’s the same ECZ that handles elections that sees certain seats goes to UPND, but Hon Mucheleka denied saying the discussion at hand with respect to his negative response was a s a result of the process which is slow and going by records of PF interference during elections, Hon Mucheleka has called on Home affairs minister Hon Stephen Kampyongo to stop disturbing ECZ during elections.

He said that under the law the Zambia police with guns are not allowed to be in any place where elections are being conducted even if it’s general elections.
He said what transpired in Lukashsya where the police being given orders by Home affairs minister was uncalled. He said it’s those and other matters which he feels that the ECZ are in their current state are not ready and able to conduct free and fair elections.
On Bill 10 he said that many people especially PF are happy that Bill 10 failed, he said people like Justice Minister Hon Given Lubinda and many more are very happy that Bill 10 has failed because it was a disappointment to them such that Lungu had decided to betray them in 2021.

Former ‘Slay-Queen’ Jackie Phamotse Warns About ‘Sacrifices’ Following Ginimbi’s Fiery Death

South African socialite and slay queen turned author Jackie Phamotse has ignited controversy following the death of Zimbabwean businessman Genius ‘Ginimbi’ Kadungure.
The former blessee-turned-businesswoman suggested that the deaths of Ginimbi and 3 associates in a horrific traffic accident, was a result of sacrifices and wealth rituals gone wrong.

According to Jackie Phamotse, the author of Bare: The Blesser Game, Ginimbi traded his soul for money and was given only a limited period of time to enjoy his wealth. She also claimed that when one makes such pacts with the “Kingdom of Darkness” they are given visions of their deaths well ahead of time.

Writing on social media platforms, the controversial author said, When you trade your soul for money, you are given a time period to enjoy the newfound wealth. However, they take away your family. & pure happiness. Your death will be horrific. You are also given a vision of your death. Wealth rituals are common and require blood.

… When all is said and done, those of the powers that be, the ones who had given the powers, saw that they failed to give them the ultimate sacrifice and because they had already sold their souls. Once you fail in any task in the Kingdom of darkness, you become the sacrifice.

Just to make clear, that she was referring to Ginimbi she emphasized that people who sell their souls know when the end is near. She then added that Ginimbi had purchased his coffin four weeks earlier while video vixen and fitness trainer Michelle ‘Mimi Moana’ Amuli had visions about her death months before.

Jackie added, THE POINT HERE IS, WHEN YOU SELL YOUR SOUL FOR WHATEVER PRICE, YOU KNOW WHEN THE END IS NEAR …

…it is said that Ginimbi bought his coffin Coffin 4 weeks before this tragic death…. and Moana spoke of her death months ago in a video she posted on her IG!

Jackie claims to have gone through similar experiences when she was still living the life of a slay queen.

Ginimbi is set to be buried at his Domboshava mansion on Saturday. His family indicated that he had made his intentions clear about how he would want to be buried. His burial will be accompanied by an all-white party to celebrate his departure.

The businessman’s multi-million mansion will also be turned into a hotel as per his wishes before death.

Accusing Findlay of drug dealing is same as referring to Lungu as drug lord – witness

0

AN Assistant Commissioner of Police has told the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court that accusing Lusaka businessman Valden Findlay of dealing in drugs is the same as referring to President Edgar Lungu as a ‘drug lord’.

Michael Malambo, who claimed that Findlay had only accompanied President Lungu on official trips once, said that in his 24 years of serving as a security officer, if Findlay has been accompanying the head of state on trips on several occasions without his knowledge, he would be failing in his duties.

This is in a matter where New Congress Party leader Peter Chanda lodged a complaint against Chishimba Kambwili in the Lusaka Magistrate’s Court for questioning President Edgar Lungu’s association with Findlay, whom he accused of being a drug king pin.

Malambo, a police officer based at State House, told court that whenever the President is going out of the country, his office is always given information about where the Head of State is going and a manifest (list of people accompanying him).

He said after he is given a list of names, his office takes charge and makes follow ups with officers accompanying the President so that their luggage can be surrendered to his office where they are screened to ensure that it is safe to be handled by the President and his entourage.

“After being satisfied that the luggage is safe, I and my officers take the bags to the airport where it is rescanned before loading it on the plane. The screening is done wherever the President is going so that the luggage can be handed over to the VVIP,” Malambo said. “We check for anything that would either harm or embarrass the Head of State and the entourage and these things are explosives, drugs and any other unusual items,” he explained.

Malambo said the gulfstream which was recently procured by President Lungu in 2019 had never been to Israel contrary to what Kambwili alleged.

He said he has never found President Lungu or his entourage in possession of drugs or any related substance in their luggage.

Malambo charged that the allegations by Kambwili that the presidential jet is used to courier drugs and money are baseless.

“On the part of Findlay, the only time I saw him travel with the President was April 2, 2019 when he went to Ndola. The security come out first and the President second and Findlay has never been the second to come out of the plane,” said Malambo.

In cross-examination by Kambwili’s lawyers Keith Mweemba, Gilbert Phiri and Christopher Mundia, the witness said the Head of State did not mention about the Gulfstream or the Presidential Challenger in his press briefing neither did any of the newspapers quote him in relation to the same.

When asked if Kambwili referred to the Israeli trip when he talked about drugs, Malambo denied saying the presidential jet has never been to Israel.

Asked by Mweemba if the Israeli trip was in relation to money and not drugs, Malambo expressed ignorance.

“Any person who accuses Mr Findlay of drug dealing refers to the President,” Malambo said.

He said Findlay did not accompany the President to Eswathini or Kenya and if he accompanied the President on various trips then he (Malambo) failed to do his job as a security personnel.

When shown the Times of England where the Head of State was captured with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, the witness confirmed that President Lungu visited Israel in 2017.

Malambo added that he has no evidence to dispute the fact that the Head of State visited Israel.

He said he is not aware that the President and Findlay visited Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta to allegedly negotiate the release of Indian drug lord Vicky Goswami, who is an acquaintance of Findlay.

Malambo was asked by Phiri if the President’s luggage, including that of the VVIP is searched upon arrival in Zambia to which he denied.

He confirmed that Kambwili was merely questioning the presence of Findlay on presidential trips.

When asked by Mundia if the President and Findlay travelled out of the country on June 9, 2018 Malambo expressed ignorance saying he would be surprised if the same is true.

Trial continues on November 16, 2020.

Lungu’s future in your hands, Lubusha tells East chiefs

EASTERN Province PF chairperson Andrew Lubusha says traditional leaders should remember that they produced a child in the name of President Edgar Lungu who is leading the nation and his future lies in them.

Speaking during the Eastern Province Chiefs’ Indaba on effects of climate change in Chipata on Monday, Lubusha said traditional leaders should encourage people to register as voters.

“Your child is pleading with you not to forget to register as voters and the issuance of National Registration Cards exercise is ongoing. Your child (President Lungu) is saying power lies in you for him to continue leading this country,” he said. “Again, if you as parents do not take care it will be difficult for him to rule this country. When we get to our chiefdoms let’s not forget that we produced a child who is leading the country and his future is in our hands.”

Lubusha appealed to the traditional leaders to encourage their subjects to register in large numbers in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

“Sensitise headmen so that we can vote well next year. There are a lot of young ones who need to register as voters. The young ones can use the National Registration Card to join cooperatives and other empowerment programmes,” he said.

Lubusha told the traditional leaders that members of parliament would continue visiting their palaces to seek wisdom and guidance.

“We depend on guidance as well as your blessings. President Edgar has time and again told us the importance of traditional leaders who are also our parents. Many are the times that we come to you to seek your guidance and blessings,” he said.

Lubusha appealed to the chiefs to continue guiding politicians so that they could do their politics well.

“We ask you to continue teaching us so that we could manage politics well. We perfectly realise that you have a huge responsibility to unite our brothers and sisters in Eastern Province and as a ruling party, we need to set a very good example to other political parties that Eastern is a very peaceful and loving province,” he said.

Lubusha said traditional leaders should not get tired with politicians who will continue seeking guidance and counsel.

“As politicians sometimes we differ so we look up to you to reconcile us as a political party and reconcile us with other political parties. I will not hide you, this child we have Edgar Chagwa Lungu is so loving, caring and has done so much for Zambia and even Eastern Province has received equal share of the national cake,” said Lubusha. “And he has continued to sacrifice and help us. You produced this child and you should take care of him. We are asking you to always remember him in your daily activities as well as in your prayers.”

Ginimbi had planned his burial, including dress code, VIP tent and guest list

Flashy Zimbabwean businessman Genius Kadungure, popularly known by the sobriquet Ginimbi, had fully planned how his burial will be conducted several months before he died on Sunday, November 8, 2020, his sister says.

Ginimbi, 36, died after the vehicle he was driving, a Rolls Royce Wraith, collided head-on with a Honda Fit in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

Following the crash, Ginimbi’s car hurtled off the road and hit a tree, sparking a huge fire that engulfed the entire vehicle, instantly calcining the three trapped occupants to death.

Ginimbi had been rescued from the driver’s seat by well-wishers, but succumbed to his injuries a few meters from the fire scene.

The other three, who died in the accident, include fitness enthusiast Mimi Moana, her female friend Elisha and Ginimbi’s friend Limumba Karim.

The four had Saturday night celebrated Moana’s birthday at Dreams Nightclub in the capital Harare, and were on their way to Ginimbi’s home when the accident happened.

The crash occurred at Borrowdale, a residential suburb in the north of Harare. The neighbourhood forms the most affluent and prestigious residential area in the whole of Zimbabwe, online search shows.

Following news of Ginimbi’s death, his eldest sister, Juliet Kadungure, has now come out to reveal that her flamboyant brother had fully planned his burial months in advance.

“Genius was a fun-loving character,” Juliet told The Herald, which is the largest daily newspaper in Zimbabwe.

“He always reminded us about how he wanted his funeral to be conducted. In fact, he had a plan and always said ‘ndiri big’, so make sure on my funeral, you do not hurriedly bury me,” said Juliet.

According to Ginimbi’s wish, all the people who will attend his burial penciled in for Saturday, November 14, 2020 must be dressed in white attire. The dress code is synonymous with Ginimbi’s trademark dressing for the lavish parties he used to host.

Juliet said her brother used to tell them that he wanted a big burial ceremony.

“Take time, planning for it. Check my requirements well and one of the things is that I want everyone who will be at my funeral to be dressed in all white, no matter who. Please, make sure you emphasise that, remember, I am an all-white guy. The all-white should be on the day of burial.”

Juliet said according to the plan left by Ginimbi, they will have to wait for his foreign-based friends to arrive for the ceremony, failure to which, the event should be postponed.

“He would say: ‘make sure you get in touch with my other friends abroad and wait for them to come,” said Juliet.

“That is why we are saying for now the funeral will begin on Thursday, [November 12] and for now people are gathered at our father’s residence which is 400 metres away from Ginimbi’s mansion.

“We have set up a tent because there are lots of people coming from all walks of life and we could not accommodate them at the mansion.”

Juliet said there will be two tents pitched for the wake.

“There will be a tent for friends and fans, then a VIP tent,” she said.

“Ginimbi will be buried on Saturday, [November 14] in his yard as he wished to. It is very difficult for us as a family and we kindly request the public to respect us and avoid spreading malicious rumours.

“For now, we have put a family spokesperson who is Clement Kadungure. Anything you hear which is not from him, is not true.”

Juliet said the family was not stopping people from mourning Ginimbi at his mansion, as being reported on social media, but the reason why the funeral was on the other side was to accommodate everyone.

“You may think the yard is big, but it is not big to accommodate everyone as you know many people are coming,” she said, adding: “Like I said, we decided to pitch tents at the open space near my father’s house. It is also for the security of the house.”

Juliet said Ginimbi always wished for his house to be turned into a museum or a hotel upon his demise.

“We are going to invite some local artistes so they will perform on Friday, [November 13], when his body lies in state at his mansion,” she said.

“Remember, Genius owned G-Entertainment where he promoted some local artistes, so we will do his wishes and they will also be dressed in white.”

Chief executive officer of Ginimbi’s G4K security company, Dr Peter Gwaza, said some people were coming with the intention of stealing Ginimbi’s property.

“We have already caught two people who had stolen plastic chairs,” he said. “Again, the house has a lot of property that needs to be protected. I respect the decision by the family to have the funeral outside the mansion.”

Moana’s sister drops bombshell; blames Ginimbi for her death

0

The late socialite Moana’s sister Tatenda is speaking out about the tragic incident that claimed her older sister’s life and she blames the late flamboyant businessman Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure.

Speaking in an interview, Tatenda said she never liked Ginimbi and warned Moana about him.

“I always warned her about Ginimbi and I told her I didn’t like him but she kept on insisting that he was her friend. I know for a fact that my sister died for things she didn’t know about.

“Akabatanidzirwa! She can’t just die like that. We should have seen brake pad marks on the road to show that Ginimbi tried to stop the car. Ginimbi was haunted by dark spirits and unfortunately my sister was caught up in it,” said Tatenda.

She also revealed that she had a bad feeling about Ginimbi but ended up pretending to like him for her sister’s sake.

“There was just something about Ginimbi that made me scared of him. I ended up pretending to like him just because he was friends with my sister but deep down I didn’t like him,” she said.

She went on to explain that Moana was in a bad mood the night before her tragic death.

“She was in a weird mood but I just thought since she was 6 months pregnant, it was normal to have mood swings. We were at the hotel and Ginimbi delayed coming to pick us because he said he was waiting for the police to disperse. We waited up to 1:30 am. We were annoyed by that and we almost didn’t want to go to the club anymore,” Tatenda recalled.

Moana and her sister Tatenda

Ginimbi then came with his convoy and they went to the club. Tatenda said after the party, she tried to convince her sister not to go with Ginimbi but her efforts were in vein.

“I didn’t want her to go to Domboshava but she said they wanted to have more drinks there. I told her I was too tired to go there so they left without me. That was the last time I saw my sister,” she said.

Speaking about Moana and Ginimbi’s relationship, Tatenda said she knew that they were friends but doesn’t know if there was something more than that.

She also revealed that a month ago when Moana relocated to South Africa, she gave away her stuff to her family and said that she was not coming back to Zimbabwe.

“I suspected something was fishy because before she went to South Africa, she gave away her belongings and properties. She renovated the house. It was as if it was planned. I don’t even understand. It’s like she knew she was going to die,” said Tatenda.

She also confirmed that Moana’s body has been identified and she will be laid to rest tomorrow at Zororo cemetery.- Nehanda Radio

PF of Confident of Victory in 2021, even without Bill 10-Sunday Chanda

0

THE RULING Patriotic Front (PF) Media Director Mr. Sunday Chanda has challenged the opposition political parties to tell the Zambian people what they will do for the country if elected into Office.

Speaking on Tuesday morning on Kwithu FM’s ‘Nkani Yatu’ program where he was discussing issues of governance, Mr Chanda expressed sadness over the tendency exhibited by some members of opposition parties to politicizing everything.

He said the opposition should put the interest of the people first as opposed to opposing matters which are aimed at taking the nation forward.
Mr Chanda cited Bill number 10 which some members of the opposition campaigned against but shunned from voting.

“What we wanted as the PF is for the youth, women and differently-abled persons to have guaranteed seats in parliament so that they can advance their own agenda,” said Mr Chanda.

He emphasized that issues affecting the marginalized groups of Zambians can be best addressed by the affected persons and further said that is the more reason why PF wanted such people have their own representation in Parliament.

“As the PF, we wanted young people to advance their agenda, we wanted differently-abled persons advance their own agenda and the women too because we understand their challenge.”

However, Mr Chanda said even in the absence of Bill 10 which the opposition claimed the PF wanted to use to its benefit that the ruling party was confident of another victory in the forthcoming general elections slated for August 12, 2021.

He said Zambians have seen what the ruling party had done and further challenged the country’s largest opposition party, UPND, what it would do for the people.

And the PF Media Director further said lawyer John Sangwa’s discourse with regards President Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s eligibility was nothing but mare politics, adding that President Lungu would be on the ballot next year as the constitutional court had ruled in its judgement that he was eligible to stand as President.

Meanwhile, Mr Chanda said the PF remained confident that the voter registration exercise which commenced on Monday would be a success despite the process facing challenges on the first day.

“Unfortunately, our colleagues in the opposition and some CSOs opposed the online pre-registration voter exercise which would have made things easier when doing the actual exercise as most of the things would have been done and we feel that had MPs gone earlier in their constituencies to tell the electorates about it, it would have helped but again, they chose to play politics.”

Mr Chanda however said that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) should consider allocating more man power in high density areas so that it is able to capture the intended targets of registered voters ahead of the crucial elections.

Bombshell For Kadungure Family As “Zozo” Declares Taking Over Ginimbi’s Assets

Bombshell For Kadungure Family As “Zozo” Declares Taking Over Ginimbi’s Assets.

The family of Genius Kadungure could be left holding straws amid indication that flamboyant businesswoman Zodwa Mkandla was part owner of the Domboshava mansion.
Sources close to the developments told Zim Morning Post that “Zodwa has already started projecting herself as the surviving spouse, and is firmly in charge.”

The mansion that can easily get a slot on MTV crib lies deep beyond the hem of the capital far from the city limits amidst the smell of soot and smoke in the land of Chief Chinhamora in Nyamande Village, Domboshava.

The home which had become a status symbol at the peak of Ginimbi’s powers was co-owned by Ginimbi and Zodwa, according to State papers retrieved by Zim Morning Post from a 2018 case.

For the later part of his life popular socialite and businessman claimed to have built the mansion in his home area where he grew up.
However, 2018 court record reveal that flamboyant businesswoman Zodwa Mkandla also claims ownership to the house.

These ownership details were leaked in court as Zodwa, who is popularly known as Zozo, sought to retrieve lost property worth $60 000 at the house in question.
In the court case, the State detailed that Zodwa lost the property at her Domboshava mansion to one of her security personnel, a man identified as Justice Jasi. Justice allegedly did injustice in spite of the trust vested in him.

The two businesspeople (Zozo and Ginimbi) never categorically stated their marital status despite speculation and rumours that the two were married under Marriage Act which will entitle them to dual ownership of properties.

On numerous occasions, Ginimbi skirted answering the question on his marital status.
There were murmurs that Genius was masquerading as a home owner but was actually being looked after like the proverbial church mouse.

Other sections maintained that the two had joint ownership by virtue of being married, or the two were simply joint owners without marriage.
Yet other sources in the couple’s circles say that the two were business partners and not lovers.
However, the street jury was of the verdict that the two were at one time an item and Zozo was the anchor of Ginimbi’s finances, a claim that Ginimbi was on record denying.
With lucrative palpable business, many believed that Genius feed off the sweat and genius of Zozo’s widely celebrated business acumen and tenacity.

Genius became popular for his traditional all white parties where he flaunts his wealth, popping expensive bottles of whiskey.

Zozo was also prominent at these parties, giving credence to word that the two are either business partners or an item with Zozo being the benefactor.

The late Ginimbi owned Dreams Nightclub, formerly Club Sankayi.
It was venue for Moana’s 26th birthday celebrations on Saturday night, the last event before their tragic death early Sunday.

HH still my friend despite me voting for Bill 10 – Senanga MP

0

By Julia Malunga,
SENANGA UPND member of parliament Mukumbuta Mulowa says Hakainde Hichilema cannot chase him from the party for voting for the Constitution Amendment Bill Number 10 of 2019 which fell off last week.

In an interview, Mulowa said he was still a member of the opposition party and that he was going to recontest his seat next year.

“UPND is my party and I am standing on the UNPD ticket. Hakainde is still my friend despite me voting for Bill 10. He is my close friend and there is no way he can chase me because of Bill 10. Tell Hakainde, he is still my friend and president. I wish to work with him in the future very well. In the party there are different people, there are those who are reasonable and those who are not reasonable. Reasonable people like Hakainde cannot bring a grudge against me,” Mulowa said.

He said it was unfortunate that Bill 10 fell off because there were some progressive clauses in it.

“It is unfortunate because I don’t think that delimitation will take place. For us to have delimitation of these constituencies, there is supposed to be a form of constitution amendment and that was an opportunity which was given to us through Bill 10. I know there are some arguments that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) can still move a motion so that there can be delimitation, I agree with that but whatever constitution amendment which takes place, it will need about two thirds. Now do you think our friends in the PF will agree this time? Some of us with wide constituencies will suffer because they are quite big to be developed. I think we have lost out,” Mulowa said.

He said Bill 10 also provided an opportunity for MPs to go back to the councils.
“Remember in 2016, the constitution amendment number 2 of 2016 removed MPs from the councils, hoping that there could be provincial assessments which never happened. So now the failure of Bill 10 means that MPs will not go back to the councils. There are a lot of things which are happening in the councils, things like equalization funds being misused. One of the functions of the MP is to provide an oversight role which is not there. So that means the fight between the mayors, council chairperson and MPs will continue at the expense of the Zambians who voted for these people,” said Mulowa, who also refuted claims that he was bribed by the ruling Patriotic Front to vote for the bill.

“There is also an issue of chiefs. Today, the paramount chiefs, like the Barotse Royal Establishment, anyone can declare himself chief, so this bill wanted to save these chiefs from such embarrassment that anyone can declare himself chief anywhere. The people of Zambia are going to lose out on this. The women, the youths, the church will all lose out. We are not saying that we can make a perfect law, the only perfect law is the law of God. Look at the money that was spent on the roadmap for Bill 10! So now we are back to square one.”  – Diggers

One Year Ago Today: Lungu Pardons Political Prisoner Afumba Mombotwa, Five Others To Celebrate Birthday

ONE YEAR AGO TODAY: LUNGU PARDONS POLITICAL PRISONER AFUMBA MOMBOTWA, FIVE OTHERS TO CELEBRATE BIRTHDAY

11 November 2019 | Author News Editor, Barotseland Post

As he celebrates his 63rd birthday, Zambian President Edgar Lungu has pardoned five prisoners, among them Barotseland independence leader, Afumba Mombotwa, who was serving fifteen (15) years in maximum prison for taking an oath of office as Barotseland administrator general in his formed Barotseland transitional government in August of 2013 which would facilitate the peaceful and legal implementation of the 2012 Barotse National Council (BNC) unanimous resolutions for Barotseland independence from Zambia.

Afumba Mombotwa (60), has been in maximum prison since his arrest on 5th December 2014 with two other Barotseland compatriots and fellow prisoners, Inambao Kalima (59) and Likando Pelekelo (64).

Meanwhile, the fate of Kalima and Pelekelo is yet to be determined.

In a press statement by the Special Assistant to the President (Press and Public Relations) at State House, in Lusaka on Monday, 11th November 2019, to mark Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s 63rd birthday, the President of the Republic of Zambia pardoned the five inmates from various correctional facilities.

This was in the exercise of the powers vested in the Zambian President by Article 97 of the Constitution of Zambia Chapter (1) of the Laws of Zambia which provides for the Presidential pardon and substitution of severe punishment imposed on the convicted.

Others pardoned alongside Afumba are Chief Mulongwe, Maxwell Mwale – who is Former Minister in the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) government, Journalist Derrick Sinjela and former Zambian Airforce Commander Christopher Singongo.

Many Barotseland independence activists and international human rights watchdogs have been lobbying for the unconditional release of Afumba Mombotwa and his two Barotse patriots, and it is here hoped that the remaining two Barotseland political prisoners still in Zambian jail will be released sooner rather than later.

http://barotselandpost.com/…/lungu-pardons-political-priso…

BAROTSELAND POST COMMENT: In spite of receiving this Presidential pardon one year ago, Afumba Mombotwa remains imprisoned at Zambia’s State maximum prison after President Lungu’s Home Affairs Minister, Stephen Kampyongo, reportedly reversed the pardon several hours after it was officially announced by the Presidency, an anomaly that Zambians have watched quietly by.

We, therefore, call on President Lungu to revisit this unprecedented eventuality which amounts to a gross infringement of Mr Afumba’s human rights.

Once a prisoner has been pardoned under the Zambian President’s constitutional prerogative of mercy, the recipient of such mercy is deemed as a free person, and the only way they could be imprisoned is if they committed a fresh crime for which they get tried and convicted for another prison term.

I Have Little Confidence Concourt Will Rule Against Lungu’s Third Term Bid – Bob Sichinga

I HAVE LITTLE CONFIDENCE CONCOURT WILL RULE AGAINST LUNGU’S THIRD TERM BID – SICHINGA…bringing up Lungu’s legitimacy case before them is an academic exercise
By Patson Chilemba
The Constitutional Court is not worth the paper its written on, and bringing the Edgar Lungu eligibility case before them will just be an academic exercise, says former commerce minister Bob Sichinga.

Speaking with Daily Revelation, Sichinga said the law was very clear that President Edgar Lungu does not qualify to stand again, given that he has twice been sworn-in and twice held office, but he had very little confidence the constitutional court would rule against the President if his nomination were challenged, as State Counsel John Sangwa has vowed.
He said the spotlight will therefore be on the constitutional court to rule in line with the provisions of the constitution.

“And I think that the whole issue of the constitutional court, truthfully this constitutional court is not worth the paper its written on, and I am being very truthful to you. Because they are making decisions with a particular person in mind, and I don’t agree with their interpretation (over the previous case brought before them),” Sichinga said. “It (Lungu’s eligibility) puts the spotlight on the court, but more importantly this constitutional court has proven to me, and remember John Sangwa has said very clearly they are not qualified. What will be their reaction to him? They must recuse themselves. The whole constitutional court must recuse itself.”

Sichinga said bringing such a hot issue involving the President before the constitutional court, which he said was not qualified and had self interests to preserve, would merely be an academic exercise.

“We need to involve other parties other than this constitutional court . If there was a Supreme Court above this constitutional court I would have said then you can go to that Supreme Court. It is not the case. For me judges in their own case they will protect their own interests and this is where the independence of the constitutional court (comes in). It’s independent on paper but they have an interest because they were told they are not qualified, second because they are appointed by one person,” Sichinga said. “It’s an academic exercise. And as far as I’m concerned this constitutional court is not qualified. This is a case that now goes to the SADC court; it goes to the AU court; it goes to the United Nations Court all these. We must ascend beyond the constitutional court of Zambia. Why? Because they were told they are not qualified and this pronunciation that they have given to me it shows that they are biased. They are not acting independently they are thinking (about) their positions within the judiciary rather than interpreting the law.”
Sichinga said in the previous case, the court did not pronounce itself directly on President Lungu, but they took a theoretical position where they were talking about provisions in the constitution, by implying that if Lungu where to take the case before them, such would be the outcome.

Sichinga said what was paramount with regards the provision on term limits, was the primary provision on one holding office, saying the term referred to is conterminous with the term of parliament, as the two were tied together.

“Article 106 the issues are as follows, the president shall serve two five years terms. However, connected to that, implicit, and I am saying implicit, in that the president does not run on his own, his term is conterminous with the term of parliament…other words he doesn’t stand on his own, he does not have a separate term of office. His term is connected to that of parliament,” Sichinga said. “They introduced in there, not the people, they introduced in that 2016 constitution the issue of ‘if you have not served a certain number of years’, that in itself is a lacuna and what is saying is that if the person that replaces the president has not even done half of that term then immediately you say that there is a lacuna. What that is doing is that that sub article is overriding the principle article. The principle article says you will serve two terms period, any sub article which says 106 sub-this is subsidiary it cannot override the first consideration.”
Sichinga said the PF has failed to define the particular period 2015-2016 President Lungu served as president.

“They are reading the sub article without emphasizing the requirement of the main article which says two terms. Any time you say he can serve over and above the two terms, it means that he has to serve at least three times which is against the principle article which says two terms,” Sichinga said. “If Lungu did not want to serve less that five years he had the option, to say am not going in now. I will wait so that I can have my full term.”
He said the subsidiary clause saying one could not be said to have served a full term if they had served less than three years, was included after President Lungu realised that his first term of office from 2015-2016 was too short.

“As far as I am concerned he was on a ballot paper in January of 2015, correct? He was elected, correct? He was sworn in correct? He took office, correct? As far as I am concerned the whole period from January 2015 to August 2016 is a term,” Sichinga said. “It is not a full five years, but the five years he was talking about was that the tenure of presidency will run for a term of five years concurrent with parliament?…when he stands in August 2021 he will be putting his name on the ballot for the third time. He will be serving a third term.”

Sichinga wondered whether the country had a president or not between the period 2015-2016 if those supporting Lungu were saying he was finishing another person’s term.
“Because they said it must be read in whole and not in part, and the first part they should read is the main article. What did Zambians want. They don’t want anybody to serve more than two terms,” said Sichinga. -Daily Revelation

MPEZENI DISOWNS GEORGE ZULU AS HIS INDUNA…but Zulu maintains that it’s up to EP people to choose their own leader in 2021

MPEZENI DISOWNS GEORGE ZULU AS HIS INDUNA…but Zulu maintains that it’s up to EP people to choose their own leader in 2021
By Patson Chilemba
Paramount chief of the Ngoni people of Eastern Province, Mpezeni has sharply reacted to George Zulu, saying he is not his induna, following his opposition to the chief’s directive asking the people of Eastern Province for back President Edgar Lungu in the 2021 general elections as a soil of the soil.

But Zambia’s former High Commissioner to Australia Ambassador Zulu said whether he was an induna or not does not matter, as long as he is a Ngoni, saying he maintained his opposition to the directive asking the people of Eastern Province to back President Lungu because he was the son of the soil.

Speaking with Daily Revelation, the Mpezeni said Amb Zulu was not his induna.
“Nanga ni induna? Si induna uja. Awee si induna yayi, ni subject chabe. Si induna yanga. Alibe udendo uli onse. Sure (Is that one my induna? No he’s not, he’s not my induna. He’s just my subject. He doesn’t have any position),” said the Mpezeni.

The Mpezeni recently asked the people of Eastern Province to back President Lungu as the son of the soil in the 2021 general elections, but Amb Zulu said the chief could make directives, but it was up to the people to choose their own leader. He said Eastern Province was a unique Province which had accepted leaders from other regions, and that it was important for the province to retain that uniqueness, saying every Zambian must feel a sense of belonging in the Province.

Mpezeni and Amb Zulu have been known for years to have enjoyed a very sound relationship. Prior to the Ncwala ceremony of the Ngoni people held earlier this year, Daily Revelation spoke with Amb Zulu about the ceremony in his capacity as Mpezeni’s induna. Daily Revelation had called to speak to the chief himself about the ceremony itself, however, due to the fact that the journalist could not comprehend fully the language the paramount chief was speaking, he (Mpezeni) handed over the phone to Amb Zulu to speak on his behalf instead.

And reacting to Mpezeni’s statement that he was not his induna, Amb Zulu said he had never impersonated himself in that position, saying being induna or not, did not change his position as a Ngoni.

“It’s his prerogative to appoint any Ngoni. So if he has corrected that, I am also grateful that he has corrected through the press. I did not claim to be an induna. I wouldn’t say he is upset, he has just corrected my position in my tribe because he is the one who gives,” he said.

He however, said he would not withdraw his statement opposing tribalism, saying he would speak his mind without any hindrance.

“I will speak as George Kanyamula Zulu. I would want to repeat, amplify it that let us look at Zambia so that we should not start looking at tribe,” Amb Zulu said. “I still stand by it that every Zambian must be judged by their character, not by their tribe.”
Amb Zulu said he was speaking against tribalism as a Zambian and a member of the ruling PF, saying he had the right to speak on national matters.

“It’s folly and to start thinking members will not speak on issues, and we don’t want people to put us in sections of tribe,” Amb Zulu said, further speaking against involving chiefs in partisan politics. “We must at all times avoid getting chiefs into politics because they also have their preferences but people have also their own preferences…if the paramount chief says I don’t hold it (induna), it doesn’t make me a non-Ngoni.”

Amb Zulu said the country’s founding president Dr Kenneth Kaunda fought hard to make Zambians as one people, saying every Zambian should feel free to go to every area and canvass for support and votes. -Daily Revelation

Our Party Is Finished, Every Zambian Is Now Crying And We Must Be Ready For Exit Because Zambians Are Angry And Against PF – Jackson Kungo

OUR PARTY IS FINISHED, EVERY ZAMBIAN IS NOW CRYING AND WE MUST BE READY FOR EXIT BECAUSE ZAMBIANS ARE ANGRY AND AGAINST PF ~ Kungo
By CIC Intelligence
Former North Western Province Patriotic Front Chairman Jackson Kungo has expressed worries on how things are moving in the country especially in North Western Province where almost everyone is angry against the Ruling Party because of the uncontrolled high level of poverty, police brutality, corruption, tribalism etc.

Mr Kungo who was speaking on phone with another senior PF member from the Copperbelt whose identity has been withheld informed CIC PRESS TEAM reporter in Kitwe has charged that the ruling Patriotic Front party members should be prepared to lose power to the opposition UPND who have now even managed to penetrate the system because things are currently not favouring Ruling Party.

Mr Kungo also said that even the current scheme by the PF through Electoral Commission of Zambia to defranchise Zambians by not registering more voters will not help the ruling party but has a negative impact on the PF because their members are not willing to register as voters in numbers as compared to the opposition party members who are still spending long hours on the cue to get the voters card without eating anything.

Mr Kungo has instead advised the top Leadership in PF to consider instructing the Electoral Commission of Zambia to revert back to the old voters register which already has some PF members as eligible voters that to discard it because of his observation on the ground especially in North Western Province which indicates that PF members are not willing to register as voters.

Mr Jackson Kungo is the past Provincial Chairman who was suspended and later replaced by the party Secretary General Davies Mwila following his arrest by the Police for stealing Gold worth 3m kwacha which he share with the former North Western Province Police commissioner Hudson Namachila who was also fired by the President for the same case.
Mr Kungo also stated that he’s still a member of the Patriotic Front push for his clearance by the court using ichipani (party) before he makes a decision to move to another political party where he’ll be respected and considered than to cling on to PF that’s not appreciating him despite his efforts to make PF visible in the Province when he served as the Provincial Chairman for the ruling party.

When CIC Reporter asked whether Mr Kungo has plans to ditch the ruling party to join the UPND, Mr Kungo said that he intends join either UPND or NDC but waiting to see whether UPND and NDC will agree to work together in the 2021 general elections because he believes in Chishimba Kambwili’s politics and Leadership.

Mr Kungo who was heard complaining in a call recording made available to a CIC reporter in Kitwe has said that it is now worrying and scary to be a member of the Patriotic Front because things are bad and Zambians will soon rise against PF known members and if elections were called today, we can terribly lose as a ruling party because of our failure to put the best strategy that can attract people to support the party.

He further stressed that the party Leadership has immensely contributed so much to the problems because of their Failure to manage programs meant to attract party support from Zambia, eg Solar milling plants, Presidential Empowerment initiative Fund which has been mismanaged and abused by those entrusted to manage them on behalf of the party.
It’s not time to pretend that all is well for us as a ruling party and it’s now time to make the right decision to fight for Zambia by doing the correct thing, Mr Kungo said.

Mr Kungo has also advised that if the government fails to manage the voter Registration exercise well, Zambia is headed for the countrywide protests which will now annoy Zambians more and paint the ruling party a bad image which will affect the Presidential vote for the PF allowing a landslide victory for the opposition UPND.

Your slowness will turn away voters- Wina reprimands ECZ

0

Scores of people turning up at different voter registration centers in the country have expressed concern with the pace at which the process is being carried out, saying it is very slow and stressful.

In Dundumwezi, Member of Parliament Edgar Sing’ombe yesterday, described the process as pathetic, claiming that only four people were being registered per hour.

Meanwhile, Vice President Inonge Wina has since urged the Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- to open many registration centres to enable eligible citizens to acquire voters’ cards.

Wina says if the process to obtain a voters’ card is slow, it will discourage would-be voters from acquiring the document.

She said this in an interview shortly after obtaining her voters card at Silverest Primary School in Chongwe yesterday.

Wina also urged ECZ to sensitise the community on the process and where the would-be voters can obtain voters cards ahead of the elections.

Apparently, many have since been questioning ECZ’s capacity to register all the eligible voters in a short period, they ask; ‘How can you allocate one voters registration officer per centre to attend to hundreds of people?

‘This is time consuming for people that are registering even the process itself might take longer than your projected time limit and abuse of Labour for your employees, do you know how stressful and exhausting it is to deal with a lot of people on a daily basis?

‘That material you guys are using is also pathetic, it’s cheap quality, even the design not so good, you are using too much ink on it, you should have designed something simple to save money and use it for hiring more workers,’ they say.

Meanwhile, Binwell Mpundu has called on the electoral management body to reverse its idea to have a new voters roll and wrote…

Reversing a decision is not a sign of cowardice or luck of foresight let alone a sign of dullness it actually is the best attribute for successful decision makers.

Here ECZ may need to consider reversing the decision to have a complete new register because the new exercise will not be pulled off for many reasons.

The time it’s taking an officer placed in those registration centers to attend to one person is a serious indication we will not register 9 million people. If the machines where super fast and we had too many registration points and streams we could have pulled this off.

My suggestion is that ECZ should consider simply cleaning the old register up and replacing those who have lost their cards, changing voting stations for those who would like to change and giving the new voters their cards plus removing those who have died off the register.

If am proved wrong I will gracefully give credit to ECZ but I think if they are to pull this one off they will need to triple the results and perfomance of yesterday across the country.

This is simply my honest observation and am not in any way trying to undermine anyone. I mean to help and my thinking here is based on what I witnessed yesterday in all the centers I visited and I will continue to visit the centers and will report if there will be improvements.

Allow opposition mobilise citizens for voter registration, Panji Kaunda urges govt

0

COLONEL Panji Kaunda says voter registration should not be left to government and Electoral Commission of Zambia to conduct.

Commenting on the voter registration exercise which commenced yesterday, Col Panji said every Zambia should take interest in the voter registration exercise.

“I think it is in the interest of every Zambian to register to vote if they reach the acceptable age. If those who are in the opposition are not allowed to go round the country to encourage members of the community to register, the exercise might fail,” he warned. “You can’t register nine million people who are targeted for by ECZ in a month in such a silent manner, it might be difficult to achieve.”

Col Panji appealed to all political parties especially those in opposition to get involved in sensitising the people to register as voters.

“Let the political parties especially those in opposition send their men and women to every corner of this country to sensitise Zambians that they must register whether they registered in 2016 or not, their vote will not count unless they have a new card,” he said. “Most people in rural areas have no idea about this exercise. Our appeal is to the government, those who stop our opposition political parties to go round the country, to stop it and allow them to go round the country.”

Col Panji said the opposition should mobilise their supporters, countrywide, to register.

“It is obvious that the PF will do that quietly on their own in their strong areas and they might sabotage the areas where they think the opposition is strong so that they don’t have numbers to register,” he said. “So we must fight that abuse which is there so that the Chishimba Kambwilis, the Kalabas, the Hakaindes and the Milupis of this world are free to go round the country and mobilise their members or any Zambian to register.”

Col Panji said if all the people get involved in the voter registration it would be better for democracy in the country.

“Democracy is about numbers, the more we register as voters the better the democracy. You cannot be celebrating of having brought democracy if you cannot attract the people to register as voters,” he said. “Time for campaigns will come but for now it is a civic responsibility for everybody including yourselves the press to sensitise Zambians about this exercise.”

Col Panji appealed to Zambians to get involved in the exercise and make a difference.

“Others may not like the exercise but it is there. You can’t change it and you can’t boycott it either. So let’s get involved and make a difference in this country,” said Col Panji.

Every Zambian, including baby born today, owes foreign lenders K37,000

0

HAKAINDE Hichilema and UPND are worried that the huge external debt of over US $33 billion makes all 18 million Zambians, including babies born today owe foreign lenders about K37,000 each.

UPND national chairman Mutale Nalumango in a statement yesterday said the Patriotic Front government of President Edgar Lungu has borrowed more in six years than UNIP and MMD borrowed in 47 years in power.

She said her party was extremely disappointed by Vice-President Inonge Wina’s recent claims that the PF administration has never received documented advice from anyone on how to fix Zambia’s bleeding economy.

Nalumango said Zambians were fully aware that the economy was in a mess not because the PF administration lacked advice from well-meaning Zambians but because listening seems not to be the PF’s greatest gift.

She said Hichilema was on record advising the PF against reckless borrowing as “this would have future devastating effects on the economy”.

“From the onset, the PF shunned all reasonable advice on how to desist from excessive external public borrowing, claiming that they were within the threshold of their capacity to continue contracting debt,” she noted. “Whenever the UPND raised the red flag, the PF arrogantly dismissed our concerns and accused us and our party president, Mr Hichilema, of being bitter because we were not in government.”

Nalumango said the “choking loans” were borrowed without parliamentary approval, which was a very serious breach of the Zambian Constitution.

She said as a patriotic citizen, Hichilema consistently shared, in writing, through various media platforms, his advice to the Zambian government on how debt contracted on behalf of citizens should be invested in productive sectors to help repay the loans over time.

“For instance, on the issues of the Eurobond, he had advised the PF government against borrowing from private individuals but his advice was ignored. UPND members of parliament have also consistently debated and advised the PF government on the floor of the House while Mrs Wina was listening but probably never took the debates seriously. All parliamentary debates are documented. Today, because our government is openly begging the lenders for deferment of debt repayment, they can now shamelessly turn around and say they never received any documented advice from anyone,” Nalumango stated. “Is this not ridiculous? As the UPND, we cannot claim to have been the only ones who advised this government on how to address the crippling debt. There were several other people and eminent citizens, including former Bank of Zambia governors, ministers of finance and commerce, and presidential economic advisors whose advice on how to handle the debt, nose-diving Kwacha and the economy in general was rubbished.”

Nalumango said former Bank of Zambia governor Caleb Fundanga, former finance ministers Ng’andu Magande, Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane and Felix Mutati, former commerce minister Dipak Patel and former economic advisor to late president Levy Mwanawasa Dr Mosses Banda wrote a letter to President Lungu and Dr Ng’andu expressing concern over Zambia’s current debt position.

“Their advice was dismissed as being nonsensical. The Vice-President should not take Zambian as fools because they have lived first-hand the misery brought by her administration,” she said.

“According to the World Bank, today, within six years of being in office, the PF regime, led by President Lungu and Vice-President Wina, have plunged the nation into a huge external debt of over US $27 billion. When internal commitments are added, the debt comes to US $33 billion, translating to 122 per cent of GDP or USD 1,833 or K37,000 per citizen. The maximum recommended debt position for a resource based developing economy like Zambia is 40 per cent of GDP.”

Nalumango noted that MMD’s last full year in power (2010) saw Zambia’s economy growing at 7.3 per cent, which made Zambia attractive to receive loans – a position PF exploited.

She said in 2019, Zambia’s growth was at 2.0 per cent but the PF government borrowed to overspend on failed infrastructure projects that had not delivered economic returns.

“Even the so-called road projects they embarked on are just being used as conduits to siphon public funds. To put it simply – they have failed the Zambian people miserably and saddled the country with debts that will take at least 50 years to pay back,” Nalumango said.

She said the $33 billion debt the PF, under Edgar Lungu, has plunged the nation in exceeds the combined loans previously contracted by MMD and UNIP in their combined 47 years in power.

“What worries President Hichilema and the UPND the most is that, with this huge external debt of over US $33 billion, going by our current population, now estimated at about 18 million people, each Zambian citizen, including a baby born today, owes our foreign lenders approximately $1,833 or Zambian Kwacha 37,000,” said Nalumango. “Had the PF regime opened its ears, Vice-President Wina would, today, not be using the scapegoat of lack of documented advice as the reason for ruining a potentially vibrant economy.”

Some Senior PF Members Are Praying That Lungu Is Not Eligible For 2021 – PF member Munir Zulu

0

PF member Munir Zulu has said chief government spokesperson and information minister Ms Dora Siliya is right to say that some senior members of the ruling party have actually been praying that President Edgar Lungu is not eligible to contest the elections next year.

Munir also says tourism and arts minister Ronald Chitotela is a liability to the PF government.

He said during a special programme on Muvi TV that some senior party members in the PF are a source of conflict.

“Most of these people that condemn youths like myself, it is for one reason that we don’t go to them to beg like I don’t have mealie meal at home. So, when they are having their caucus meetings, they don’t invite us. Honorable Siliya is right that there are very senior members of the party and even members of the central committee that were praying or that are praying that President Lungu is not eligible. I spoke to lawyers to say what’s the issue after Bill 10? And he said the issue of eligibility is not there but what is a problem is delimitation. Those senior members are a source of conflict,” Munir said.

He also revealed that the ruling PF has very good ministers and at the same time very bad ones and he went on to cite certain ministers whom he felt are good and those who are bad.

“We have got sober ministers like Honorable Musukwa for Mines, Honorable Alexander Chiteme for National Planning, Honorable Kampamba Mulenga for Social Development, Honorable Bowman Lusambo for Lusaka Province, the Finance Minister is sober, Copperbelt Minister Mwakalombe is sober. Then we have Dr Chitalu Chilufya, also a sober guy but the only people that are denting him are young people that follow him behind. Then we have Nickson Chilangwa, Luapula Provincial Minister, very sober. Home Affairs is also a very sober guy. In fact when Honorable Stephen Kampyongo was national youth chairman, there was discipline in the party. The moment he went to security, indiscipline has become the order of the day in the Patriotic Front. Katambo is a very sober guy. But these other ministers like for information, tourism and arts, I have just told you that Honorable Chitotela is a liability to this country. If he wants those who are going to say to him that ‘honorable nshikwete ubunga and those are not enemies of progress, then we will continue to be enemies of progress. Honorable Kampyongo is sober mind, sober character, disciplinarian, and we miss him,” he said.

He said the PF’s national youth chairman Honorable Kelvin Sampa, the Kasama MP, is another liability.

“The youths in the PF have a wrong national youth chairman. It’s a scam. He is a scam, he has got no influence on the youths in this country. Kelvin Sampa is a wrong fellow to lead the young people in PF. He cannot influence my opinion and that’s enough reason for him to be a wrong guy, self-centered man. I can tell you that the day when Kelvin Sampa will not be National Youth Chairperson, there will be a lot of jubilation in the PF,” Munir said. -ZR

ECL Eligible For 2021, Unless You Are Looking At It From A Scared Point Of View – Alexander Chiteme

ECL ELIGIBLE FOR 2021, UNLESS YOU ARE LOOKING AT IT FROM A SCARED POINT OF VIEW – CHITEME
….as he castigates those who wish to prolong the eligibility debate as time wasters…..
KITWE. Tuesday, November 10th, 2020.

Minister of National Development Planning Hon Alexander Chiteme over the weekend admonished all those that want to sustain the eligibility debate to focus on real issues, as the matter had already been settled by the Constitutional court (ConCourt).

Addressing scores of Miseshi residents who gathered at Butungwa Primary school in Kitwe, the Nkana lawmaker termed all those who were engaged in the futile eligibility debate as scared individuals who were terrified to face President Edgar Chagwa Lungu head on.

“The President has delivered, he is still delivering, and that has petrified some people, his works has immobilized them, the eligibility debate is a foregone conclusion, the highest court in the land ruled in favor of our boss. Don’t be cheated by time wasters, who wish to waste your time twice,” Hon Chiteme said.

And the Nkana Constituency Member of Parliament wondered which new arguments the naysayers would bring to court which they didn’t during the Danny Pule case.

“One doesn’t need to be a lawyer to understand that the Pule case exonerated the President, without him uttering a single word. Efyo chaba nga Lesa ali naiwe, aba lwani nangu bengema shani, ena kuli bonse alapokolola,” Hon Chiteme stated to a cheering crowd.

Officially welcoming the over 15 branches that have been formed in Miseshi ward, Hon Chiteme urged the branches to go flat out and ensure that every person of legal age registered as a Voter. He also emphasized to the gathering that ECZ had streamlined the process, that people were now able to register from anywhere.

“It doesn’t matter whether you are in Ndola or Chipata, one can still register to vote here in Nkana, Kitwe, all one needs is to know the polling station. This is revolutionary in nature, go and spread the word far and near.

“Show us that you are dedicated branches by ensuring that everyone who is 18years and above in your localities registers to vote, it’s their right!” Chiteme challenged.

ECZ yesterday begun the voter registration process across the country. Their target this time around is to capture 9 million voters.

Voters can now register from any nearest registration centre and opt to vote from a polling station of their choice.

Voter Registration, A PF/ECZ Rigged Excercise In Futility – It Must Be Corrected Soonest, And Extended By All Means Necessary!

VOTER REGISTRATION, A PF/ECZ RIGGED EXCERCISE IN FUTILITY – IT MUST BE CORRECTED SOONEST, AND EXTENDED BY ALL MEANS NECESSARY!
Diving Deep into the PF Political Mindset
—————————————————————
By Mainda Simataa | 10 Nov 2020 | Lsk
—————————————————————
So the voter registration disaster begun in earnest yesterday, and in the ward I’m standing for as councillor, Kamwala Ward 5, I’m one of only 85 people who managed to aquire the pathetic-quality voter registration cards at Kamwala Basic School, a polling station which has 18,790 registered voters as at 2016, and a projected 25,000 in 2021.
How long will it take to register 25,000?

So naturally, as a democrat, citizen and candidate, I’m very concerned that despite the registration scandal we’ve witnessed today – a scandal with the potential to rob us of more voters via our people being subjected to unbearably torturous conditions – long ques, the heat, the confusion, the exhaustion and time waste – we remain calm and watch the saga unfold as opposition, as if we’ve got nothing to lose!

We’ve continued to give the enemy a free way in perfecting its art of professional rigging, and they’re doing it with ruthless efficiency…and yet, we remain mute still!
Perhaps we feel that even if a handful of people registered as voters, they’ll still vote for us. We’re dead wrong if we think that, because PF has the financial capacity to corrupt the same handful with FISP and EMPOWERMENT. Fewer numbers is good for their campaign budget.

Or perhaps we feel no amount of rigging and scheming can break-through our impenetrable popularity polls and firewalls which show we’re capable of scooping 75% of the popular vote at the very least…well, yes we can. And we could get even 80%, but if, and only if, EVERY ELIGIBLE VOTER:
1. Gets their NRC
2. Registers as a voter
3. Turns up to cast their vote, and
4. The vote is protected
(I won’t go into gaming the system, a task which is pivotal to forming power itself)
KEY QUESTION:
As far as gunning for the nationwide popular vote goes, how have we performed in rounds 1, 2, 3, and 4?
RESULTS:
1. NRC Registration: PF won round 1 hands down. We’ve lost 3 million potential youth votes.

2. VOTER Registration: PF deleted the voters register. We’ve lost 6,698,372 voters. So PF is set to win this round 2 as well if we don’t challenge, correct and extend the fraudulent and cumbersome process of the new voters register.

3. If we lose round 1 and 2, PF will find it most easy to win round 3 via manipulating the few voters through cash, food and favours for votes.

4. Having lost round 1, 2 and 3, round 4 will be irrelevant as there will be no votes to protect.
WE NEED TO DRAW A LINE IN THE SAND ON THIS ONE NOW, AND SAY, NO MORE!

We Have Lost A Leader, Son And Friend,” Domboshava Village Mourns Ginimbi

People in Domboshava are mourning businessman and socialite Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure, reminiscing on the love he had for the rural community, which was taking a new shape because of his philanthropic works.

Ginimbi was killed in a car accident, together with three others, early on Sunday along Liberation Legacy Way on his way home from an outing.

The community has described him as a saviour who helped them in all respects.
Ginimbi constructed a tarred road from Domboshava Showgrounds Shopping Centre to his house in Nyamande Village, a development which the residents said upgraded the once looked down upon village.

He connected electricity from the shopping centre to his house with all houses along the line being connected to the power lines and benefiting for free as he paid the electricity bills.

A visit to the village by The Herald Arts crew revealed that Ginimbi was being viewed as a “saviour” by the community.
Village head Mr Davis Kadungure said Ginimbi did a lot for the community and described him as a “hero”.

“I am the village head, but to Ginimbi, his father and I are brothers,” he said. “My nephew was a humble and loving person. He had an open-door policy and did not select who to assist. He has helped the Domboshava community at large as he created employment for school leavers and even those old enough to be his fathers. We have lost a leader, son and friend.”

Mr Kadungure said all people were welcome to attend Ginimbi’s funeral, but should adhere to the burial arrangements as he wished.
Esnath Muniri
Ms Esnath Muniri, one of Ginimbi’s neighbours, said she was hurt by his death.
Her husband, Succeed Bingura (35), was Ginimbi’s employee.
“He gave my husband a job and is he currently working in Mt Pleasant as a security guard,” said Ms Muniri. “I last saw Ginimbi on Saturday morning as he passed by my house. He used to hoot each time he passed, but I had never met him face-to-face.
A 22-year-old man, Tino Nyamoto, who sells his wares along Liberation Legacy Way said Ginimbi used to give them some money.
Juliet Kadungure

“Boss Ginimbi was a real boss,” he said. “He had a lovable character.
“I remember showing him my drawings of his car and he laughed, but this time he didn’t give me some money.

“The other day he passed by with some beautiful girls and said, “artist wangu ndeipi” and they bought cool drinks for US$10.
“We both laughed, I said mbinga.”

Webster Mazai from Nyamande Village said Ginimbi was a humble person, while Viola Usaihwevhu, who is in her late 50s, said because of Ginimbi, the face of Domboshava had changed.
Ginimbi will be buried at his mansion in Domboshava on Saturday.

The Third Term Lies being spread by Opposition is as a result of Fear of President Lungu Candidature – Nathan Chanda

0

The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) Copperbelt Chairman Nathan Chanda has accused the opposition of spreading what he described as blue lies that President Edgar Lungu wants a third term.

Speaking when he received Former Kafulafuta UPND Member of Parliament Brian Chitafu who resigned from the Opposition party to join the ruling PF, Mr. Chanda said that President Lungu has not served for two terms and is not going for three terms as the lies from UPND, adding that the opposition is pushing the third term narrative out of fear of facing President Lungu on the ballot because they know that he will win again because of the development works he has done for Zambia.

“The UPND wants us to put in a weaker candidate. If President Edgar Lungu was weak, the UPND could have been very happy, but they know the strength of President Lungu, that is why they are so scared of President Lungu,” Mr Chanda said.

On Bill 10 Mr. Chanda said that PF is not the one that lost on Bill 10, but the youths, women, disabled, Traditional Leaders, Christians and innocent Zambian people.

Mr. Chanda said that UPND was the cause of Bill 10 after they lost the 2016 general Elections and that was the UPND that complained after the loss in 2016 and wanted to repeal the Public order of 1955 and the Electoral reforms that is how the meeting for Secretary Generals was called in Siavonga.

Mr. Chanda also encouraged members to register as many members as possible in the Voters registration exercise which commences on 9th November 2020 by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

And Mr. Chitafu who is also the first UPND MP for Kafulafuta of Lamba land said there is no way a person can ignore the development agenda of the PF. Mr. Chitafu said he is shocked that people can doubt the development agenda of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

“Today, I have come to join the family of development. There is no way I can ignore the development agenda of the PF and President Edgar Lungu,” Mr Chitafu said

Mr. Chanda directed the District Chairman for Masaiti to give positions to the new members and form more branches. In PF there is nothing like this one is new or old , this one is from this tribe or part of the country but we all one under the one Zambia one motto.

Masaiti Member of Parliament Micheal Katambo said the PF has always strived to ensure that it’s Members of Parliament work for the people.

Hon. Katambo said the Constituencies are so big in Ndola rural and it is important that people can have a share of national development.

“So everything that we fought to have in Bill 10, is for the good of the people. But the UPND has rejected to bring development to the people. So the issues that we need to look now is for the needs of the people. All those that have come from the UPND is for the good of the people. Us as PF, our duty is to ensure that we work for the people. Our driver is Edgar Chagwa Lungu and he is the one who will lead this country to higher heights.”

“President Lungu will win with over 72 percent so don’t be left out in this development agenda for Zambia,” Hon Katambo said.

Kafulafuta Member of Parliament who is also Constituency PF Chairman Joseph Kabamba and PF District Chairman Mr Kalutwa said the PF is still growing strong and strong in Masaiti.

“Today we are receiving 700 members from the UPND. This shows that the PF is growing and growing,” he said.

Copperbelt PF Chairlady Rose Mukupo said defectors should be truthful when joining the party. She said it is good that people have voluntarily decided to join the ruling party at will.

Others that defected included David Zulu, the Kafulafuta Constituency Chairman who said he has decided to join the PF because of the works which are visible.

PF original members should say no to Lungu’s 3rd Term – UPND

0

THE collapse of Bill 10 has exposed President Edgar Lungu’s determination to go for an unconstitutional third term of office, says UPND secretary general Stephen Katuka.

Katuka has called on PF members to join other progressive forces to stop President Lungu’s Third Term bid.

He noted that last week, through his Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations Isaac Chipampe, President Edgar Lungu dared the nation that he is standing in next year’s general election and is not worried by the eligibility case.

He noted that President Lungu is relentlessly posturing his eligibility to contest the 2021 presidential elections.

He said although the Head of State is the weakest and easiest PF candidate to beat in the 2021 presidential election, UPND strongly feels that his candidature is unconstitutional.

“The collapse of the Constitution (Amendment) Bill Number 10 of 2019 has exposed his determination to go for an unconstitutional third term of office,” he said. “This is in breach of the constitutional provisions as provided in the 1996 Constitution under which Lungu was first elected Head of State in the 2015 presidential election following the death of President Michael Sata in October 2014.”

Katuka said the anger and frustrations exhibited by President Lungu’s cronies and minions led by justice minister Given Lubinda, had exposed the hidden agenda of the PF to manipulate the electoral system and advantage their leader.

“As if Lubinda’s public anger were not enough, PF’s surrogate civil society organisation, the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), has equally been emotional in defeat,” Katuka noted.

“But this is understandable considering that both Lubinda and the PF user-friendly CSOs and ‘men of God’ had assured the great leader everything was on course towards the delivery of the evil Bill 10 when it was presented for second reading in the National Assembly on 29 October, 2020.”

He said now that Bill 10 had crashed with a thud, the PF-aligned “opposition” political parties, CSOs and their ilk should advise their leader that he is taking a self-destructive path.

“In another shameless show of anger and frustration, Lungu has cracked the whip, though indirectly, by asking innocent members of parliament (MPs) Frank Ng’ambi, Kabaso Kampampi and Elario Musonda to exculpate themselves for not voting with the ruling party in support of Bill 10,” Katuka noted.

He said the country was yet to see the charges that would be preferred against the Chifubu, Mwansabombwe and Kamfinsa members of parliament.

Katuka said PF secretary general Davies Mwila had gleefully executed President Lungu’s instructions and given each of the legislators seven days within which to exculpate themselves before sanctions are imposed on them.

“The ‘true greens’, as the PF original members call themselves, should say no to Lungu’s Third Term if they are to remain relevant to the country’s political dispensation after next year’s elections,” Katuka said.

He noted that president Frederick Chiluba had attempted to tread such perilous path by pushing for a third term bid in the 2001 presidential election.

“But the net effect of that over-ambitious move was that it only ended up making his party, the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) divided,” Katuka said. “Eventually, when the dust settled down after Chiluba realised that his third-term attempt had reached a dead end, the MMD remained with a lean support base as a lot of members had left the party in defiance of the toxic selfish scheme. Chiluba’s arrogant appetite for a longer stay at State House would later almost cost the MMD an electoral victory in December 2001 as president Levy Mwanawasa beat his closest rival, Anderson Mazoka by a paltry 27,000 votes.”

Katuka said as a lawyer, President Lungu knows too well that he was first elected and took office under the 1996 constitution.

“Under those provisions, even serving for a day as President counted as a term of office,” Katuka emphasised. “He was further elected and sworn in for the second term in August 2016, a term considered the second and final one. Even under the current Constitution, renowned Lusaka lawyer Elias Chipimo explains in his article (12 January, 2017) that to ‘hold office’ is simply to be sworn into office and serve as President until the next person is sworn into that office. This is abundantly clear from Article 106 (2) which states: ‘A President shall hold office from the date the President-elect is sworn into office and ending on the date the next President-elect is sworn into office’.”

Katuka said he could state the same another way that although a presidential term is five years, a person can “hold office” for less than five years.

“The restriction in Article 106 (3) does not use the word ‘term’; it uses the words ‘hold office’,” Katuka said. “Like Chiluba, Lungu is pretending that the Zambian people are gullible and are not seeing through his manipulative schemes to retain power outside his constitutional mandate. Unfortunately, his manipulation has been dealt a mortal blow but if he continues to push his luck too far by being arrogantly defiant, the ending might be too ugly for his comfort.”

Katuka recalled that due to local and international pressure, Chiluba abandoned his third-term bid about seven months to the elections date and only managed to leave the then-ruling party with huge cracks which, nine years later, would lead to electoral defeat at the hands of the PF.

“Most PF members and honest legal minds understand that Lungu is taking the party on a trail of destruction because of his insatiable appetite for power but, because of self-preservation, they keep cheering him on,” Katuka said. “To them, if they can eat with him for the next few remaining months, they will tug along.

The question is: for how long?” Katuka asked. “Before long, all shall come to pass as the third-term scheme has already begun crumbling and all those supporting this illegality shall run away from Lungu. It did happen to Chiluba, a much more politically astute and stubborn schemer whose support base was real and not inherited.”

Katuka said constitutionally, the Third Term case provides good legal arguments and State Counsel John Sangwa is likely to have a field day in court if President Lungu does the unthinkable and files in his nomination papers for next year’s presidential election.

“By then, it will be too late for the PF to find a replacement candidate as the nomination period will have been closed. What a way of shutting the Patriotic Front!” remarked Katuka.

Ginimbi bars family from occupying his Domboshava mansion in the event of his death

SOCIALITE Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure , who died in a horror car accident along Borrowdale Road in Philadelphia, Harare, Sunday morning, will have his plush Domboshava mansion turned into a hotel as per his wish, close family members have said.

Ginimbi (36) died when his Rolls-Royce Wraith collided head-on with a Honda Fit while driving back to his Domboshava home in the company of Limumba Karim, believed to be of Malawian origin, and two female passengers.

He was pulled out of the car following the crash while his three passengers were burnt beyond recognition after his vehicle, a Rolls-Royce Wraith, went up in flames.

Reports are that Ginimbi had three friends in his car, identified as Karim, Elisha and fitness trainer-cum-video-vixen Michelle “Mimi Moana” Amuli — who all died.

They were all coming from Moana’s 26th birthday party at Ginimbi’s Club Dreams, formerly Sankayi.

Thousands of fans, artistes and relatives were last night gathered at the late socialite’s family home to pay their condolences, while his local and international friends, including Nigerian musician Davido, sent condolence messages.

Relatives told NewsDay Life & Style that the flamboyant young businessman had declared that no one should occupy his mansion in the event of his demise.

“You know with what has been talked about his wealth, (that he acquired it through unorthodox means), Ginimbi is on record saying no one would occupy his house. He told people that it should be turned into a hotel,” a family insider said.

“He used to say he would want a mausoleum to be built for him such that he will always be remembered by many generations who would visit the hotel.”
He also reportedly wanted a statue erected in his honour.

Ginimbi’s father, Anderson, said though it was sad to lose a son in such a manner, he was not shocked when he heard about the accident as his son was a speedstar.

“I received a call that he had been involved in an accident. We know he used to speed on the roads, so we were not shocked as the person who was phoning was crying,” he said.

“When we arrived at the accident scene, we saw his car in flames and he was sleeping by the side. He was my second born. Now only two girls are left after the death of the two boys.”
Ginimbi’s mother died this year.

Asked whether Ginimbi had a child, he said he only knew one child, although he did not know the name.

“Aah vakomana ava vanongoita vachisiya haumbovanzwisisa (these boys would jump from one woman to the other, so you would never understand them). We only know of one, but I don’t know the name since we did not stay with him/her,” he said.

Sources close to Ginimbi said Karim had flown from South Africa to attend Moana’s birthday party.

“You know Limumba Karim was a close Ginimbi business partner who could not miss his friend’s invite. He would be here always to support his friend and associate. They were real partners, so he came to be party of Mimi’s birthday celebrations,” said the source.

Moana died in the accident after being trapped inside.

She featured in a number of videos, among them Jah Prayzah’s Munyaradzi, Freeman’s Miridzo, Takura’s Zvemoyo and Enzo Ishall’s Mwenje.
Moana was also a fitness trainer and played basketball.

Popular poet Albert Nyathi, who was among the mourners, described the late Ginimbi as business-minded.

“This is a big loss for the showbiz industry. We have lost a young business-minded man who had a lot of energy. He was so friendly, a brother. I am saddened,” he said.

Nigerian music star Davido tweeted: “Another friend gone … RIP Ginimbi, nothing else matters today, make Una do Una worst.”

Ginimbi’s funeral is being handled by Nyaradzo Funeral Services and will likely run for several days.

Mourners are gathered at Ginimbi parents’ homestead, a stone’s throw away from the mansion.

Ginimbi was well known for his flamboyant lifestyle and “all-white parties” he hosted every year in Zimbabwe and across the
world.

Nevers Mumba pledges to move Zambian embassy to Jerusalem

0

UNDER the ‘New Hope’ MMD administration we shall not be an appendage of any foreign power, says Nevers Mumba.

Addressing the media at the launch of the MMD official mobilisation in Lusaka on Saturday, Mumba said under his administration government would further cement the Zambia-Israel relations by moving the Zambian embassy to Jerusalem, which he says is the eternal capital of Israel.

He said Zambia has a rich history with Israel and his government “intends to strengthen this”.

“We shall never ever be colonised again, either politically or economically. We shall live within our means so that our existence is not dependent on other economies. We shall be free to make our own political decisions. We shall choose our own friends and we shall demand for respect in all our multilateral transactions,” Mumba said.

He said his government would ensure Zambians have the first share in all the resources of the country.

The MMD leader however said his government would strengthen all productive and mutually respectable bilateral relations.

“We shall ensure that Zambians are the bosses within the boundaries of our nation. Zambia has a rich history with Israel; it would take me the whole day to give you about this rich history. As a matter of fact, at one time all the buildings on Cairo Road belonged to Jewish people. We unceremoniously at one point threw them out, after they built us the International Airport here in Lusaka and they built us so many facilities but they were chased with humiliation,” Mumba said. “Under my leadership we shall honour our obligation both to God and Israel by being the second country after Malawi who just did it last week. Malawi has become the first country on the continent to move the Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. And you know why, it’s because the President is a pastor. So this pastor when he becomes President [of Zambia] he shall do the same.”

And highlighting his personal testimony, Mumba who is also a clergyman said he has never and shall never compromise on who he is.

He said his first call and first love is that he is an ordained minister of the Gospel.

“I belong to the church fraternity. I have served the Lord for 44 years. I have seen Zambia transition from being a mediocre Christian society to a fully practicing Christian Nation. I wish to echo the words of St Paul, ‘… I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation’. Before politics, in politics and beyond politics, my position remains unchanged. I am God’s servant first, then a politician. Just like Paul was first an Apostle and then a carpenter,” Mumba said.

He said he was running for president of Zambia to infuse Godly values into Zambia’s governance system.

“I therefore call upon every confessing Christian in the land to stand behind us as we prepare to place righteousness on the throne,” Mumba said.

He said the values of integrity, justice for all and equitable distribution of goods and services to all Zambians are what shall build a strong and resilient economy.

Mumba said he was Republican vice-president, in the Levy Mwanawasa administration, when Zambia’s economy hit its summit of success.

“We became one of the 10 fastest growing economies in the world. Our foreign reserves were intact. We had almost run towards a zero debt portfolio. Zambians had disposable income in their pockets. As President I intend to build upon that success,” he said.

Mumba said he was honoured to flag off one of the most ambitious mobilisation programmes ahead of next year’s election.

“Under the supervision of our national chairperson for mobilization, madam Sylvia Nawa, I am confident that the political fortunes of MMD are about to flip positively,” he said.

Mumba said he was convinced that the season for the Church to provide national leadership was now.

He said Zambia had been prepared for a generation and could not be called unqualified.

“In this generation we have upped the Christian influence to 97 per cent of the population. We have declared Zambia a Christian Nation and we have adopted Christian principles and values as the guiding light into our future. What is left to complete this progress is to elect practicing Christians as counsellors, members of parliament and president,” he said. “August next year gives us an opportunity to complete the Godly project of making Zambia a truly Christian Nation and a lighthouse on the continent of Africa. The question on your mind might be, but is MMD electable? Maybe your question should be, ‘Is morality and integrity in a Christian nation electable?’ I believe it is, because we need it. There will always be those who are satisfied with the status quo. They were satisfied under colonial rule. They were satisfied under one party rule. They are now satisfied with the status quo.”

Mumba said the MMD offered continuity of all democratic freedoms, a healthy economy, a new Christian leadership and a proven track record.

He said there was a shift towards God in the nation as there is a hunger for equitable justice.

Mumba pointed out that Zambians have shifted and the MMD “is here to provide leadership”.

“Jesus said to the disciples, ‘…launch out into the deep for a draught….” the disciples contended that they had tried to fish all night but with no success, but at thy word, we shall do it again, and when they did two boat full could not carry the fish… Remember it was the same waters they had dealt with the whole night. But when Jesus confirmed the season of harvest, the same impotent waters yielded fish,” Mumba said. “MMD laboured all night with nothing to show for it, but I now hear the voice of the Lord saying, throw down your nets one more time. At His word, from the same Zambian population, electoral victory is at hand.”

He urged all MMD members nationwide to go into all Zambia and announce that righteousness on the throne was now possible.

“In the USA, a former vice-president Joe Biden of a former ruling party is about to be sworn in as President of the United States. Four months ago, in the neighboring country of Malawi, a pastor Reverend Lazarous Chakwera, running on a former ruling party, was sworn in as President of Malawi,” Mumba said.

He said it was not beyond Zambia’s reach for a former vice-president and, a pastor, in Nevers Mumba, running on a former ruling party to be sworn in as the 7th President of the Republic of Zambia.

“May God bless our great Republic. Zambia Shall be Saved,” said Mumba.

Catholic Church has a moral duty condemn President Lungu’s tribalism in Zambia

0

By Jack Kalala
This tribalism is being promoted by President Lungu for selfish purposes. That is why he has not taken any action against people involved in preaching and promoting the vice such as Nkandu Luo, Chanda Nyela, Yaluma and many other PF leaders.

President Lungu does not mean well for this country. He has a private hidden agenda to destroy our country. He wants to divide it on tribal lines and does not care what happens to it thereafter. He does not even appreciate the gratuitous privilege and honor that the people of Zambia have bestowed on him to make him their President. He is an ingrate.
The genocide in Rwanda started in the same way. The First World War also was sparked by a small incident. In both cases millions of people perished and so much was destroyed. Bush fires that destroy huge forests and contribute to environmental degradation start with a small spark.

In Zambia, we are being irresponsible and reckless to let President Lungu and his PF minions to sow and spread seeds of tribal divisions unabated.
What is regrettable, surprising and worrying is that the Church, in particular the Catholic Church, has also remained silent. GBM, Prof. Nkandu Luo, Mumbi Phiri and many senior PF leaders who have been propagating tribalism are prominent and practicing members of the Catholic Church yet none of them has been publicly admonished or censured.

I am a Catholic and I strongly feel that the Catholic Church has a moral, religious and spiritual responsibility to condemn and discourage the sowing of this destructive seed. The Catholic Church knows better from experience the bad consequences of tribalism since Germany and Rwanda are predominantly Catholic nations.

Every human being, regardless of his tribe, the color of his skin, nationality and socio-economic status is a reflection of God’s image. God is the creator of all the tribes and no one makes a deliberate choice to be born in a particular tribe. It is God’s wish. We should all live in love, harmony and peace. We should coexist in diversity. As Zambians we should support one another and work together to develop our beautiful country. We should not allow PF surrogates and a certain Edgar Chagwa Lungu divide us.

Every Zambian has a democratic and Constitutional right to aspire to the position of his choice, including becoming Republican President regardless of his tribe, color of his skin, gender religion.
May God bless all Zambians and our beautiful country Zambia.

Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure death: The details

BUSINESSMAN Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure, who died on the spot along Liberation Legacy Way in Harare, ordinarily known by many as Borrowdale Road, when his speeding Rolls Royce collided head-on with a Honda Fit, veered off the road and hit a tree before catching fire, was with two foreigners who had come for the Saturday night party.

Ginimbi’s friends, family and other local celebrities and businesspeople gathered at the accident scene as they tried to comprehend what could have happened.

Notable faces included comedienne Madam Boss, Albert Ndabambi, Jackie Ngarande, Thompson Dondo, Keen Mubaiwa and Wanisai Mtandwa (Mahwindo) among others.

One security guard identified as Martin said that he was patrolling the area when he witnessed the accident.

“I always see Ginimbi at this hour (5am) when I finish work and he will be driving to his Domboshava house. Today he had his Rolls Royce and was speeding as usual. I heard a bang and I rushed to investigate. I saw him trying to open the doors with a view to rescuing his friends.

“He was struggling to breathe and was visibly shaking. Genius was shouting for help. When I arrived, the car exploded. “The fire was scary and we could not do anything to help.

“Some neighbours gathered at the scene of the accident. We unsuccessfully tried to put out the fire using water buckets and tree branches,” he said.

Ginimbi’s manager identified as Shally said she was deeply hurt.

“I feel like hell. I don’t even know which words to even use. Genius Kadungure has been called by God. He is no more. He was in a terrible accident around 5am and he died on the spot with three of his friends in the car, Karim, Elisha and Moana,” she said.

Moana’s father Mr Ishamel Amuli said he last saw his daughter early last year and was distressed and worried about her partying behaviour.

Speaking at the funeral wake in Highfield, Mr Amuli (58) told The Herald that his relationship with Moana went sour in 2017 when she left her husband.

“In 2017, Mitchelle had problems with her husband, who came to drop their child in Domboshava. Mitchelle later came to pick her daughter and I sat down with her, telling her that I wasn’t happy with her behaviour. I heard a lot about my daughter that she had become a party animal and was featuring in several musical videos. I got angry and slapped her twice and she left home for good.

“Last year I saw her, but we never talked much. I am a Muslim and what she was doing was against our religion. Now how do I tell my elders at church and how will she be buried? We are now at her mother’s house in Highfield because I did not fully pay lobola for her mother. I still owe in-laws, but that is a story for another day,” he said.

Mr Amuli said he broke up with Moana’s mother while his daughter was still a toddler.

“I quit my job to look after my children. I had five children and Mitchelle was the second born and only girl. She had a daughter named Tyra. I stay in Domboshava in Chirombo Village. I used to hear some neighbours telling me that my daughter was at Ginimbi’s house. Today, was told that she had a birthday party at a night club in Harare and she died on her way back,” he said.

Mr Amuli broke down during the interview. Moana’s funeral wake is at Number 547 Engineering, Highfield.

Burial arrangements will be announced after post-mortem.

Moana featured in several musical videos which include Takura’s popular track “Zvemoyo”, Enzo Ishall’s “Mwenje” and Freeman’s video “Muridzo”.

Apart from being video vixen, she was a fitness trainer.

Burial arrangements for Ginimbi, Karim and Elisha were by last night yet to be announced.-Herald

WHY PRESIDENT LUNGU WONT BE ON THE 2021 BALLOT BOX

0

WHY PRESIDENT LUNGU WONT BE ON THE 2021 BALLOT BOX
It’s not out hatred, fear
of losing but principle
When we say that President Edgar Lungu is not eligible to contest the 2021 presidential elections it is not out of hatred or fear of losing to him.

Even if Mr Lungu was a very weak candidate who could be easily defeated our position does not change – the principle and requirements of the rule of law do not change. We may have chameleon-like politicians but our country’s Constitution does not change in that psychedelic way.

We are saying this simply out of principle, out of respect for the rule of law.
And this does not require very complicated legal arguments. It is a very simple and straightforward matter.

And put simply: Mr Lungu has been elected to the office of President of the Republic of Zambia twice. And he has been sworn in as President twice – serving two terms as president.

The issue of his first term being less than three years does not arise or apply here. It arises when or applies to a person who assumes the office of President as Vice-President, without being elected, when the President dies, resigns or is removed from office for any reason.
Mr Lungu did not assume office as Vice-President and without elections in 2015. He contested presidential elections twice and won.

You can call us all sorts of names, threaten us in all sorts of ways and accuse us of all sorts things but that will not change this reality.
It does not matter what legal gymnastics they will try to play they will not succeed in changing this reality. They can ignore it, but that will not change this reality. They tried to change this reality with Bill 10 but they failed.

We know very well that we are dealing with people who have very little, or no respect, for the rule of law. These are people who are used to getting whatever they want, regardless of what the law says. They don’t seem to realise that the exercise of power must be a constant practice of self limitation and modesty.

But that should not stop us from pointing out the truth or correct positions.
History has taught us that once a government is committed to manipulating the law, the Constitution to get whatever it wants, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of tyranny to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear and silence.
We should not accept to be silenced over this illegality of Mr Lungu’s third term bid.

HH is selfish – Sean Tembo

ABOUT OPPOSITION UNITY: WHAT REALLY IS IT?
By Sean Tembo – PeP President
1. In the 4 years that l have actively participated in Zambia’s political dispensation, the term “opposition unity” is one that l have found to be the most abused, most misunderstood, most meaningless and yet most desired. It is a paradox, so to speak. But what really is opposition unity and is it attainable in our current political dispensation?
2. For starters, my view is that it is difficult to continue talking about opposition unity without first defining what it really is. And therein is the beginning of the problem. There does not appear to be any consensus among political players on a common definition of opposition unity. Each one has their own, and the definition varies from one end of the spectrum to the other. On the extreme left of the spectrum, opposition unity means speaking with one voice on issues of common interest, whereas on the extreme right, it means total submission of all smaller political political parties to the main opposition, for the common purpose of kicking out an incumbent ruling party. In other words, when you look at opposition unity in its extreme form, it is synonymous to an alliance of all opposition political parties.

3. Having shed some light on my understanding of opposition unity, the next question perhaps is; do l believe in it, and if so, then what shade on the spectrum of opposition unity do l believe in? As a matter of fact, l do verily believe in opposition unity in all its shades, depending on the available circumstances. For example, I do believe that when parties are in an alliance, then they have a duty and obligation to work collectively and with a common purpose of kicking out a ruling party. However, when parties are not in an alliance, then opposition unity needs to take the shape and form of speaking with a common voice on issues of common interest.

4. The need for this distinction is exactly my point of departure with other opposition leaders like HH and Kambwili. To them, opposition unity must always mean that smaller parties must submit fully and completely to the agenda that is set by the main opposition, without any questions asked. If a party is disagreeable to the position taken by the main opposition regarding any matter, then they are opposing the opposition and are therefore labeled as a surrogate of the ruling party. Even if such a party that is not available for full and total submission to the main opposition is in fact available to speak with one voice on issues of common interest, they are not interested. It is either their way or the highway. Put simply, they want all smaller opposition parties to act as though they are in an alliance with them. In other words, they want to get the benefits of an alliance without the cost. If anyone calls them to order, they are very quick to disparage such a political leader. They actually believe that they’re shrewd enough to get away with such blackmail.

5. But it is often difficult for a common Zambian to understand these political dynamics. Am fully aware that the majority of Zambians are sick and tired of the current PF regime and they want change, and they look up to the opposition to deliver that change, and they get even more disappointed when they note that the opposition are bickering among themselves instead of being united and presenting a consolidated force to kick out the incumbents. The common question that l often get from most well-meaning Zambians is; why can’t you people work together? By “you people” they actually mean us in the opposition.

6. Well, l can’t speak for other political parties as to why they can’t work with the main opposition UPND, but l will tell you why me and my party, PeP, cannot work with UPND. Of course the reasons are several, but for purposes of this discussion, l will narrow down to just two. Firstly, UPND in general and HH its leader are inherently selfish people. For example, when we were in an alliance with them, they enjoyed our full unconditional support, but were unwilling to sacrifice even a single constituency or ward in return, for our party to field candidates under the alliance umbrella. In other words, they want you to use your resources to escort them to State House, with no benefit accruing to yourselves whatsoever. Even a child at home, after they wash your car, they expect you to buy them appy apple when you go to the shops. Nothing is for free in this world. Like the saying goes; give and take is a fair game. You cannot just take, take, take, take and take some more without giving back anything. If you just get from someone without ever giving, that amounts to abusing the person, and an abused person is unlikely to stick around for long. In my view, that is the primary reason why HH has had problems building sustainable relationships with other political stakeholders. He is in the habit of using people. He wants no one else to benefit even a little, but himself.

7. The second reason why we cannot work together with UPND again is that they do not have any vision for this country. In fact, if UPND had a viable plan to turnaround this country for the better, l would not, in the first place, have found it necessary to form the Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) way back in 2016. I mean, why duplicate the effort? I would’ve simply joined UPND and worked my way through the ranks. But l long critically scrutinized what UPND had to offer, and l long realized that there is nothing there. HH is only able to condemn without offering any alternative solutions. The few times that he has made an attempt to offer alternative solutions, it was an absolute disaster! Am sure that most people remember his 10 point plan for turning around Zambia’s economy, which he produced in the run up to the 2016 general elections. It was a total sham and he had to quickly withdraw it. The same applies to the two-page Alternative National Budget that he produced last year and which one of his MPs tried to table in Parliament, it was again a shallow and hollow piece of document, especially when compared to the 62-page PeP Alternative National Budget. Again, he quickly withdrew this document in shame. After last year’s embarrassment, HH decided to just stay away from making any attempt to produce an Alternative National Budget this year. No vision for Zambia, no plan for Zambia and yet you want power? To do what with it? If you say you want to be made President so that you can recover some of the money that you have spent funding your party in the past 14 years, then we can understand. But if you tell us that you want power in order to improve the lives of the Zambian people, then we cannot agree with you because you have so far shown no evidence that you have the capacity and a plan to turnaround Zambia. You see, vision taimenafye anyhow kwati ubobwa. It’s either you have it or you don’t, and HH, just like Lungu, does not have any vision for this country. The only difference is that Lungu was honest about it.

8. But people will ask to say; how can such a brilliant businessman have no vision to turnaround Zambia’s fortunes? Why can’t a businessman who has built a fortune for himself be equipped to build a fortune for this country? How come a brilliant businessman is failing to produce a sound Alternative National Budget and ends up with a two-page shallow document which his MPs even have the audacity to present to Parliament? Well, what if he is not and has never been a brilliant businessman? What if the allegations that he made his fortune by swindling the Zambian people during privatization are true? Then of course it would explain a lot of things. Whatever the case, the bottom line from our standpoint is that HH and his UPND have nothing to offer to the Zambian people. Any citizen who is hoping for redemption for this country better look elsewhere.

Why PF And Lubinda Now Urgently Want Political Parties’ Bill (2017) Enacted?

0

By Chipenzi McDonald
WHY PF AND LUBINDA NOW URGENTLY WANT POLITICAL PARTIES’ BILL (2017) ENACTED?
Justice minister, Given Lubinda, after failing to pass Bill 10 (2019) in a shockingly, disappointingly and embarrassingly manner as admitted by Vice-President, Inonge Wina in Parliament last week, has now remembered the need to revisit the political parties’ Bill (2017).

To save face, Lubinda has gone into full gear rhetoric assuring the nation that his next legal stop is to restore the Political Parties’ Bill and present it for first reading in the National Assembly once given a go ahead by his Boss, President Edgar Lungu.

Just for your own information, the objects of the Political parties’ Bill are: the registration and regulation of political parties; the Establishment of the Board of Political parties; establishment and management of a political parties Fund; and The sources of funds for political parties.

What is then the urgent motivation by Lubinda and the PF to unshelve this shelved Bill which was not even considered by the National Dialogue Forum (2019) and has been on the shelves since 2017?

The real motive is not really as per objects of the Bill that of-the regulation of political parties and funding them-as government may have no money to fund political parties but the advantages the Bill may offer to any party with dwindling political and electoral base.
After Lubinda and his fellow proponents of Bill 10 failed to pass it into law, a Bill which would have helped them promote the formation of a coalition government, they have found in this political parties’ Bill (2017) another opening that may perform, achieve and preserve the same political interests that the coalition government clause in Bill 10 intended to.
The major interest by Lubinda and the PF may be, perhaps, deposited in section 24 and 25 that legalise the formation of Political and electoral Alliances and Mergers respectively ahead of the 2021 General Election.

Section 24 of political parties’ Bill (2017) proposes that “a political party may form an alliance with two or more political parties…in accordance with the [party] constitution, rules and procedures of the politucal party” while section 25 of the same Bill stresses that “a political party may merge with another political party…”
So the enactment of political parties’ Bill as as good as enacting Bill 10 and its proposed coalition government clause.

Another compelling interest why it has become urgent to Lubinda to enact the Political parties’Bill may be the ‘spying’ spirit/nature of the Bill as it proposes public knowledge on political parties’ sources of funding, amounts, income and expenditure.

Section 40 proposes to mandate all political parties to publish the sources of their funding, amounts, income and expenditure in at least 2 daily newspapers of general circulation in Zambia failure to which they commit an offence and are denied access to political parties Fund.

It is for the possible reasons that Given Lubinda is now in hurry to table the Political parties’ Bill into.

Since this Bill just require simple majority to pass, its possibility to pass into law in the National Assembly once Given is given the green light to table it is 100%.
I submit.

Ginimbi : How Did He Make His Millions? His Life And Controversies

Genius Kadungure, popularly known as Ginimbi the popular and controversial Zimbabwean socialite and businessman has died.

Kadungure was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of a gas company, Pioneer Gasses, which has interests in Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe

In the last few years of his life, Kadungure was known for throwing wild parties and for allegedly dating several married women, claims which he did not deny.

In 2014 he was arrested and tried on allegations of defrauding a ZANU PF member and a Kadoma-based miner of 1,581,890 South African Rands.

Kadungure was born in Domboshava in a family of four. He started his business career by hustling in search of a decent livelihood at the age of 17. Soon he became a middleman securing gas for domestic users. Since he had a friend who worked at the Angolan Airways offices, he quickly secured his first ever contract through his friend. After signing the contract, Kadungure followed up on many gas users and that is when his fortunes turned.

Within a year in the business, he was already driving and two years later he had a Mercedes-Benz S Class something considered by many locals to be a symbol of success.

He went on to form, Pioneer Gasses. The company supplies gas to the commercial, industrial, public and retail sectors. The company also offers delivery services by tanker to major facilities with their own storage and also sell gas bottles in a range of popular sizes.

He went on to buy Quick Gases in Botswana in which He is currently the only shareholder. With the success of his companies, he decided to add Rivonia Gases to his portfolio followed by another business initiative called City Centre Freight. All these companies fall under PIKO Trading Group, which he is a majority shareholder.

Due to the increased growth and success of his businesses, he became one of the richest young Entrepreneurs in Zimbabwe.

What set him apart from the rest perhaps was one of his greatest passions which was assisting children in need. This led him in being the co-founder of the Celebs4Change campaign which received a lot of support from A-list celebrities from all over Africa in giving their time and gifts to children in need.

Genius enjoyed travelling and spending time away on islands where he rejuvenated himself with beach views.

Wild Parties

Kadungure, who was also known as the king of bling, was well known for throwing lavish parties. In 2010, he threw one of the most expensive all-white birthday bashes in Harare, where an estimated US$17,000 was spent.

The party drew scores of people from Harare’s northern suburbs and guests were treated to high-end whiskey, bright coloured cocktails, champagne, as well as cigars at his Greystone Park home for three consecutive days.

Two years later, in 2012, Kadungure hosted another extravagant birthday party which was held in Botswana. The party is said to have gobbled an estimated P250,000 (exchange value of US $32,000 at that time).

In 2013, Kadungure also held a consecutive three-day long party at his rural home in Domboshava to celebrate a newly-built mansion he had put up in the area.

In 2015 he hosted another all-white party in Sandton South Africa which was stopped by police for violating Noise Regulations.

Controversies

Ginimbi is reported to have been involved with many married women. It was reported that many times he had been beaten up by husbands of women he had sexual relations with.

On these claims, Kadungure said it was normal. In January 2014, he made headlines when it was revealed that he had been looking after another man’s child for the past 11 years. This came to light after one Doreen Mutukwa demanded an upward review of maintenance fees to $1,500. This led to Genius demanding a paternity test and the outcome showed that Kadungure was not the father of the child.

Fraud Allegations

In May 2014 Kadungure was arrested on allegations of fraud. He allegedly swindled ZANU-PF MP for Chegutu West Dexter Nduna, who is the managing director of Badon Enterprises, and a Kadoma-based miner only identified as Gatawa of R1,581,890. Kadungure was reported to have created a fictitious company named Transco Civil Engineering purportedly based in South Africa and opened an ABSA bank account for the company. He then contacted the complainants over the phone and misrepresented himself as the chief buyer for Marange Resources looking for mining pumps at competitive prices, it was alleged.

In December 2011 Gatawa sent his brother Enock to South Africa to purchase the pumps. He was ordered to deposit R1,046,890 for the purchase of 10 flight pumps in the ABSA bank account. After the transfers, Enock was told by Transco Civil Engineering “officials” to go back to Zimbabwe and check for his parcel with DHL in three days time. He only received a parcel of cellphone chargers.
