State wave white flag: aggravated robbery case against Sedrick Kasanda dropped!
By GRACE CHAILE
IN a shocking turn of events, the State has thrown- in -the towel and dropped the aggravated robbery case against Sedrick Kasanda, accused of stealing $5 million from Egyptian businessman Micheal Adel Botros at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport last year.

The case, linked to the gold scam scandal, has been marred by the State’s failure to produce Egyptian witnesses, leading Justice Chilombo Maka to order the closure of the case.

Although Kasanda is off the hook for now, the State can still rearrest him if new evidence emerges. The decision marks a stunning defeat for the State, which had insisted it had a strong case despite struggling to produce witnesses.

In a last-ditch effort, deputy State advocate Richard Masempela requested a further adjournment, but Justice Maka refused, paving the way for the State’s dramatic surrender.

Kasanda’s legal team included former Solicitor General Abraham Mwansa, Timothy Sapato, James Kayula, Nkula Botha, Clement Andeleki,Paul Chola and Mutakela Lisimba.

  1. I told you so!!!!!!! Where are those cow brain praise singers that insulted me when I predicted the outcome of this case?

The state tried to implicate this young man, but he was innocent.

We know who the real thief is.

    Vote wisely in 2026.

    • No the real thieves are in government right now. This case proves the thieves are in control of everything from police to smugglers and foreign traffickers to State House

  2. FCB my friend, you are one of those that insulted me when I told you that this case would be thrown out.

Your small god is very corrupt my friend.

    Vote wisely in 2026.

  3. The DEC probably spoilt this case. They ill-treated the Egyptians. Had they treated them humanly after arresting them, they would have pribably been available to testify for the state. There’s no way a foreign national would have the cheek to enter into that kind of transaction in a foreign country at an international airport without local collaborators. It’s really sad that justice could not be done.

    • Justice has been done.

What is wrong with you people?

This boy will now sue the state. Will that compensation come out of Hakainde’s pocket?

  4. That’s being very mean with people’s life. You keep someone locked up for a year ati “nolle”! Imwe bantu! That’s what also happened to Mumbi Phiri. Hours before judgement and someone decidies to enter a nolle. Law is a bitch.

  5. They has been a transaction in this case. Too many questions. CCTV conveniently not working on that day. The senior officer not bothering to check what was going on. A foreign plane landing where it should not have landed etc. Too many red flags. Sad that our police team could be so ignorant. This case should be revisted.

    • It will only get reserved after 2026, when culprits are out of power.

Now we even know they are more corrupt than PF. Even the agency meant to fight corruption is corrupt.

      Vote wisely in 2026.

  6. Nothing surprises me here the outcome was predictable. Our institutions are gone to the dogs. As long as you have moola you can kiss kiss the jail bye.

  7. The case was straight forward…the Egyptians were to be turned into state witnesses ,and the people behind the KKIA Presidential Pavilion Gold Scandal could have been identified and prosecuted. But there seems to have been a cover up all along, to protect some ar*es. A deliberately bungled up case. That boy Kasanda couldn’t have pulled off this deal alone…He is a private individual with absolutely no power to control our air space, and to land a private jet at the KKIA Presidential Pavilion.
So it’s what any one believes Now. And what I believe is what I believe. A big fish , a bold Criminal must have been involved in this scandal..And those Gold bars confiscated were genuine…the Zinc Tin metarphosis is absolute nonsense. That’s my theory.

    • You are right , we have been taken for a ride again, reminds me of the time the check points were removed and trucks upon trucks of mukula moved freely after wards they were reinstated without a how do you do, no explanation no nothing

  8. The gold turned into zinc and brass mixture, the money had different figures, the plane was released , the Egyptians were released , this was very predictable the cover up is complete now. We have been taken for a ride again.
