STATE HOUSE AIDE TESTIFIES IN DEFAMATION OF THE PRESIDENT

By Darius Choonya

President Hakainde Hichilema’s senior Private Secretary Alfred Chipoya says the head of state never met any judges or judiciary officers between the first week of December and the 22nd of the same month last year.

According to Mr. Chipoya, the President never had an appointment from any Magistrate, Judge or Judiciary officer as purported by Patriotic Front’s (PF) Raphael Nakacinda.

Mr. Chipoya who manages the daily schedule of the presidential office testified in a matter in which Mr. Nakacinda who is a Member of the Central Committee in charge of information and publicity is charged with defamation of the President.

If found guilty and convicted, he risks serving a maximum jail term of three years.

  1. Why do these cases take do long. Now if he is found guilty and jailed they will cry ATI the govt is trying to shut him up. Shut him from talking rubbish and smashing into toll gates whilst drunk

  2. Please I beg that Raphael deserves that three years or even more. The courts should be courageous enough to punish these confused people. Or is it that we still have a lot of PF magistrates in the system ? Set strong precedent by giving the guy those 3 years to serve as a lesson !
