In the realm of governance, experience often reigns supreme over experimental promises. As the 2026 elections loom, the stark choice between former President Edgar Lungu and Mr. Hakainde Hichilema underscores this critical distinction.
Lungu, with his tenure in office, brings a wealth of experience and a documented track record. His policies, decisions, and their outcomes are laid bare for all to scrutinize. In contrast, Hichilema, while offering fresh perspectives and promises of change, lacks the tangible proof of governance under pressure.
Governance demands more than just ideas, it requires the ability to navigate complex challenges, make tough decisions, and deliver tangible results. Lungu’s experience, for better or worse, provides a roadmap of what to expect, offering a level of predictability and understanding of his capabilities.
Hichilema’s untested promises may sound appealing, but without the crucible of experience, their implementation and effectiveness remain uncertain. In the volatile arena of politics, the known entity often provides a safer bet for continuity and stability.
As 2026 approaches, voters must weigh the benefits of experience against the allure of change. In the end, the past actions of a leader often speak louder than their promises for the future, making the choice between experience and experimentation a defining factor in shaping the governance of a nation in the years to come.

What complex challenges did Mr. Lungu navigate? He only managed to crash us in the debt trench leaving us seriously injured. Mr. Kaiser Zulu and other cadres were more visible and provided leadership while Mr. Lungu was in a drunken stupor.

My reaction to today’s ECL’s waffle. ECL, you are playing politics that suit you. During your fraudulent tenure(s) you did stupid things and you were just not listening to the people. Now that we are where we are and you can listen without being blinded, I think you did some good things. You have a lot more time and not insulated in a ‘stupid bubble’, you can read my post and reflect. Was Lusambo, among other things a good factor on your process of running govt? You also did (attempted to push through) Bill 10. How different from is what’s going on now or from the FIJ’s third term bid. But to be fair ‘crookedly’, while pleasing your henchmen, you moved Zambia on, from where it was. I think that the incumbent will come off worse than you because he had less experience, his tribal inc!ined ways of doing business, his less afront with how the world has moved on (he’s been using KK’s models, foolishly) and many other shortcomings. My suggestion to you ECL is,. ‘Pick up that phone and tell him that you will, and you should; roll back the stolen stuff and tell all others of your accomplices, to do the same. Let’s also stop wasting money going to courts, when we can and have the power to refocus for the good of everyone. It’s called PATRIOTISM. You can still do politics (clean) thereafter. The country is in despair. Sort things out folks.ECL, you are a Law graduate and you honestly make sense sometimes, if not most times.
The author is an Umodzi Kum’mawa agent and is obviously supporting Lungu because he is a fellow easterner. Some people’s tribalism/regionalism is shamelessly limitless. It is better to go for another person after HH’s tenure and not reversing back to that relic called ECL.
