YOUTHS ENGAGED TO MOUNT UPND MAYORAL CANDIDATE ATTACKED, ABDUCTED

FOUR unemployed youths of Lusaka’s Kamwala South had their piece work cut short when suspected Patriotic Front (PF) thugs attack and subsequently abducted them, on Wednesday 2nd June 2021.

The self-reliant youths were employed to mount posters for the United Party for National Development (UPND Alliance) Lusaka Mayoral Candidate Victor Nyasulu, a rowdy gang of PF cadres took them hostage, though by Press Time, three youths had been rescued with a colleague still yet to be retrieved.

Addressing a Thursday 3rd June 2021 Media Briefing in Lusaka, a worried Mr. Nyasulu bitterly regretted the ordeal that confronted the innocent four unemployed youths experienced, merely on account of accepting to mount his (Nyasulu’s posters.

“At around 21:00 hours, the hired youths were contracted for work leaving their families, behind as the diligent young people braved the cold, so they could earn a little for their families. While working, a mob of suspected PF cadres pounced on them, had the self-reliant individuals brutalised and adjucted,” Nyasulu narrated.

On condemning the violent action, Nyasulu said the spirit of violence and intolerance is foreign to Zambia.

“The matter was reported to Zambia Police and we are hoping the law to take its course,” noted Nyasulu.

But Nyasulu vowed never to be intimidated by the ‘PF thugs’ emphasising that the Zambian people want political and economic change.

Two of the victims, Joseph Kabengele and Paul Menda narrated that they were approached by ‘PF thugs’ who asked them why they were mounting posters, and eventually attacked them grabbed a phone and K400 cash.

And on his part, Mr. Menda is happy with the piece work pasting posters for the UPND Lusaka Mayoral Candidate, despite the horrific experience of being abducted.

“My colleagues and I were bundled in the vehicle and taken to an unknown location, where we were tortured. In the morning after l escaped l started looking for the boss (Nyasulu) and found him was taken to the police to report the matter and a medical report has been issued,” narrated Menda.

Meanwhile, UPND Lusaka Mayoral Candidate Nyasulu in his thematic approach for Lusaka is emphasising safety once voted by residents.

“In our thematic approach for the Lusaka We Want, we will address the issue of safety in Lusaka. Lusaka must be safe for all people, property and animal life,” advised Nyasulu.
