M’MEMBE WEIGHS IN ON UKA, ALLIANCES AND VICTORY
Socialist Party – SP President Fred M’membe says the United Kwacha Alliance – UKA can work well if centred around the PF.
Dr M’membe mentioned that a similar alliance, like the UPND Alliance, succeeded because other parties supported UPND.
The Opposition Leader said a stronger Party should lead the way and then invite others to grow the Alliance.
Dr M’membe said his party believes in alliances but insists on clear terms and conditions.
He observed that while alliances are important for collaboration, without certain structural aspects, they do not guarantee victory.
He stated that even the current alliances need to be organized and structured properly with agreements long in advance.
“You don’t get into a marriage and then make the rules; you establish the rules first. This includes how you will structure things, the power structure, and other essential aspects,” he said.
Dr M’membe said this in Lusaka during an interaction with the media.
He has seen people leave his party and is now desperate for an alliance
He will add nothing
In other words he wants to join but first you need to promise him a position.
No he is right, most alliances fail because of no prior rules and mudus aperandi, if these are not agreed in advance, they become a source of conflict latter because people will claim that, that is not the way they understood the coming together especially when it comes to positions,.
As long as they give him the presidency, he will agree, I don’t see him accepting anything short of that.
