ZAWAPA PRESIDENT HOWARD KUNDA SLAMS GOVERNMENT FOR BEING DEFENSIVE DESPITE FAILING TO HANDLE LOAD SHEDDING, DEMANDS SOLUTIONS

Zambia Wake-up Party (ZAWAPA), President Howard Kunda, has criticized the UPND government for failing to address the country’s severe load shedding, which has exceeded 22 hours.

Mr. Kunda argues that his party’s demands for action are justified, given the government’s promises during the 2021 election campaign to resolve the power deficit.

Mr Kunda who disclosed this to a journalist in an interview, expressed disappointment with Copperbelt Province Minister Mr. Elisha Matambo’s response at his press Briefing held in Ndola today after being asked by a journalist from ZANIS, which suggested that Mr. Kunda was responsible for the power deficit, when in fact not.

The Former Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee-PAC Chairperson clarified that he only served as a member of Parliament for Muchinga Constituency in Serenje  District of Central province from 2012 to 2021 and denied any role in the MMD cabinet.

Mr. Kunda went further, stating that President Hakainde Hichilema should consider resigning on moral grounds for failing to meet the people’s needs, particularly on issues he promised to address during his campaign.

Meanwhile, ZAWAPA has vowed to continue holding the government accountable for its promises and to provide solutions to the country’s problems, including the power deficit chocking the citizens.
