DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT OF KBN TV TO RECORD THE MINISTER’S PRIVATE CONVERSATION WITH ITS PROGRAMS AND PRODUCTION MANAGER INNOCENT PHIRI.
Fellow Citizens! A phone conversation between Minister of Information and Chief Government Spokesperson, Hon. Cornelius Mweetwa and KBN TV Staff Innocent Phiri is making rounds on social media. In the call, the Minister was explaining the real gist of what he meant when he talked about UPND working with Chishimba Kambwili to de-campaign PF and the then President of Zambia Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
Clearly, there’s nothing wrong with the Minister calling a TV or Radio station to re-clarify his statement that has been misinterpreted, misunderstood and miscommunicated to the general public by unscrupulous maligners who want to bring the UPND government to the fall and derision.
In the phone conversation, the Minister explicated to the KBN TV programs and productions manager Mr. Innocent Phiri in clear terms what he meant when he recalled working with Hon. Dr. Chishimba Kambwili to achieve specific objectives, and it was clear. Unfortunately and unprofessionally, KBN and its Staff Innocent Phiri went ahead and fell for the same narratives which the Minister was attempting to rectify by way of engaging the media.
What I find bold and of great reverence is for the Minister to ask for help to disseminate the correct narratives as opposed to the propagation of fictitious and sham tales that are only meant to stain the UPND and government in general. Surely, in all manner of fairness, is it wrong for the Minister to request Media houses to disseminate the correct information to the public?
The Minister called to clarify his statement and in the end he said, “help me clarify my statement out there and I will pay you for doing that, and the payment I will give you is the friendship that I have with you.” That was very simple and straight forward and I don’t see why KBN and Innocent Phiri would want to make enmity with the Minister or indeed with government and the Party in power.

We now live in a very fast paced world so everyone especially a Minister needs to think through throughly what they will say before they go out there to say anything especially a scheduled press conference, otherwise they are not fit for purpose. It’s as simple as that.
A wise saying , ” there is power in the mouth of a King” needs be meditatively comprehended.
Our politicians need to understand this principle. Words uttered by way of authority have consequences. Sometimes irreversible. King Herald out of excitement issued the beheading of John the Baptist, once his wife realized she could use this opportunity to get her revenge.
We trust some lessons have been learnt. It’s also questionable whether the most of these media presentations are scrutinized by other experts so that the leaders speak on scripted messages so that the narratives are not diluted with personal and individual views.
This ka TV station has issues with the UPND government. I wonder why hon mweetwa would even call that innocent phiri whose posture to the UPND is negative to assist him when infact it’s one of the stations that blew out his Statement. Clearly the minister has shot himself in the foot
KBN TV is unprofessional and recording of Honourable Mweetwa on phone is unacceptable. Hon. Mweetwa if he wanted to clarity issues with what he earlier said should have used ZNBC TV and his statement was going to be communicated appropriately.
The culture of recording people on phone is evil especially if there is no hidden agenda in the discussion.
This Innocent Phiri from the look of things has always been looking for faults of UPND through out like memembee (he is a darling of the crooked PF). From the time of his time at MUVI TV and even now at KBN nimuselela ukuli ndalama. But ndalama even when he is beong give if so by corrupt people ishakwiba, from the the gassers – just consciously , it will haunt him because that is, it seems his habit but wherever, he will invest it, it will be ringing in his head / mind and he will be reminded of being in a marriage with the devils agents. Oh just shut up. If they hadn’t recorded you would have been the first person to demand proof that indeed mweetwa said what he said. This time there is access to information nothing is private. You cannot hide your misdeeds anymore.
I don’t understand why you cry babies are accusing the KNB because what Mwitwa was asking for and direct was purely corruption to aid and influence the flow of information by abusing his ministerial position and code of conduct. Exposing him as nothing to do with breaking the law but Mwitwa is a let down and I can’t understand why HH is firing him but as usual . KNB must be recommended for exposing Mwitwa
