EAST DP CONDEMN THE RAPING OF A WOMAN AS ONLOOKERS CHEER

The Democratic Party in Eastern Province says it is deeply disturbed with a video circulating on social media where a woman is being raped in public whilst onlookers are cheering and aiding the suspect.
Party provincial Chairperson Danton Ndhlovu has since condemned onlookers who were watching the helpless lady being dragged to an isolated location for such an immoral crime to be committed.
“Regardless of the circumstances, the lady needed protection from the public or onlookers who allowed the perpetrator to commit a crime in broad daylight.
We are worried that our communities can entertain such high class levels of indecency and immorality that makes our women feel unsafe and insecure to live amongst us,” Ndhlovu said.
Ndhlovu has further called upon the community in Chipata to ensure that such acts of indecent immoral behaviour do not recur.
The provincial DP Chairperson has also called on the Police to quickly investigate the matter and ensure that the suspect is apprehended including those who aided him to commit the immoral act.
“The Community is therefore called upon to ensure that they report to Police the suspect and those seen to have aided the immoral act and this will prove that our societies do not approve such unbecoming behaviours and that would deter would be perpetrators,” he said.
Police in Chipata have since launched a manhunt for the man who was captured on a mobile phone raping a woman.
The incident is said to have occurred last Saturday at the city’s golf course.
