Former Republican President Edgar Lungu’s Aid De Camp Chisanga Chanda has been charged with a new offence of assisting Shebby Chilekwa, a murder suspect.
The new charge is being an accessory after the facts to murder.
Mr. Chilekwa is former President Lungu’s Barber who is accused alongside the former Patriotic Front Deputy Secretary General Mumbi Phiri for the murder of UPND cadre Lawrence Banda in Kaoma District.
With this new charge, Mr. Chanda will now be tried by the Lusaka High Court.
Allegations are that Mr. Chanda between February 4, 2019 and February 4, 2022 while knowing that Mr. Chilekwa allegedly murdered Mr. Banda on October 6, 2019 in Kaoma received, comforted, harboured and maintained the murder suspect in Lusaka.
If found guilty and convicted, he risks serving a maximum jail term of seven years.
