MAN KILLS HIMSELF AFTER BEATING HIS WIFE TO DEATH
AFTER allegedly beating his wife to death, a 40-year-old man of Mwekera in Kitwe has ended his life after consuming a suspected pesticide.
Copperbelt Province Commissioner of Police Elias Chushi confirmed the incident in a statement yesterday.Jackson Mwansa allegedly brutalised his 34-year-old wife, Prisca Muchimba, to death before ending his life, too.
This was on Tuesday at Chankalamu Farms.Mr Chushi said Mwansa’s mother-in-law reported to the police that her daughter sustained a deep cut on the forehead.Police learnt that Mwansa allegedly used an unknown object to hit his wife on the forehead.
The couple reportedly had a marital dispute on the fateful day, which led to a fight.“She sustained a deep cut and became unconscious. She was rushed to Kitwe Teaching Hospital, where she was admitted but she later died.
“Having realised the wrong he had committed and regretted it, Mwansa decided to end his life by allegedly consuming a pesticide,” Mr Chushi said.The bodies of Mwansa and his wife are in Kitwe Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem and burial.
