Nigerian footballer Ado Bala Hadi (21) who was plying his trade in the Spanish Terceira division with CD Madridejos collapsed on the pitch during a match and died last Sunday.
Hadi reportedly slumped in the 39th minute and was pronounced dead minutes after efforts by medical personnels who rushed to the pitch to revive him were in vein.
The league’s organizers, Castilla-La Mancha Football Federation confirmed the tragic death. In a statement, the federation expressed their deepest condolences.
“We have run out of words. We send our deepest condolences to the family, friends colleagues of Hadi Ado Bala, player of CD Madridejos who died during a match.
“There is no possible consolation, only the wish that you rest in peace.”
Hadi’s club CD Madridejos also wrote on their Twitter handle.
“Totally devastated and broken with pain, the entire family that makes up the club, we want to thank all the expressions of affection and support received after the fatal misfortune experienced yesterday (Sunday).
“Heartfelt thanks to all. Rest in peace Hadi,” wrote the club in a statement.
