Zambia can raise $15 billion without borrowing a dime – PF aspiring candidate Mudolo

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) presidential aspiring candidate Joseph Mudolo says Zambia does not need to kneel before the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or other lenders to fix its struggling economy because the country is literally sitting on a goldmine.

Speaking during an online interview last n

ight, Mudolo, a Zambian business man based in South Africa said Zambia’s mineral wealth, if properly structured and leveraged, could raise between US$12 billion and US$15 billion without borrowing a single cent from foreign institutions.

“The issue which we are facing today, if I am given an opportunity to come in as a president under my government, one thing I would do is to establish a sovereign fund,” Mudolo said.

“We have assets. What they (Government) needed to do was to look on the asset side, because you need to look at external balance.”

Mudolo, declared his bid for the PF presidency ahead of the 2026 general elections, said Zambia’s economic challenges stem from overdependence on copper exports and a lack of creativity in financing.

He explained that the government could have used the country’s mineral resources, including assets in Mopani, KCM and other mining interests, to create a national fund that would bring in money for development without borrowing from outside..

The PF 2026 presidential hopeful argued that instead of celebrating debt restructuring and IMF packages, Zambia should be focusing on wealth creation through strategic partnerships and value addition.

He said the country could easily fund key sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and energy using proceeds from structured mineral offtake agreements.

The South Africa-based entrepreneur said under his leadership, Zambia would embark on homegrown economic engineering, turning its natural assets into instruments of progress instead of collateral for loans…https://kalemba.news/politics/zambia-can-raise-15-billion-without-borrowing-a-dime-pf-aspiring-candidate-mudolo/

WELCOME TO THE ARENA, COUNSEL JOHN SANGWA, SC!

WELCOME TO THE ARENA, COUNSEL JOHN SANGWA, SC!

By Patrick Mukosha

The political field just got more interesting!

Welcome, learned counsel — the man whose voice has thundered in the courts and whose pen has shaped national debate.

As you step into the world of politics, the people of Zambia are eager to know not just what you stand for, but who you truly are.

We’ve seen this story before, haven’t we?

Some of our past Presidents; no names mentioned, arrived on the political scene as “mystery men.”

Their origin unkown, their real names doubted, their birthplaces were debated, their parentage questioned, and their educational journeys wrapped in fog.

And when the truth finally emerged — it was often too late.

So, before we hand over the keys to State House, let’s ask — politely, but firmly — the questions that matter:

●Who is John Sangwa, really? Beyond the courtroom, beyond the gown — where does his story begin?

●Where was he born, and to whom? Every true son of the soil has a village, a mother’s hut, a father’s field — let’s hear his.

●What schools shaped him? Who sat with him in class, who remembers him as a boy before he became “Learned Counsel”?

●What does he stand for — not in legal terms, but in human terms?

●Does he understand the hunger of the market woman, the pain of the unemployed youth, the struggles of the farmer?

●Has he ever walked among the people, or only spoken for them?

Zambians deserve a leader they can relate to, not just one they can listen to.

We admire his courage to speak truth to power — but now that he seeks power, we must know the truth about him too.

After all, patriotism begins with honesty.

Let the people know who John Sangwa, SC, truly is — and what makes him one of us.

GPZ PRESIDENT JACKSON SILAVWE DISAGREES WITH GOVERNMENTS WITHDRAWAL OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO CHIPOLOPOLO

He writes….

I don’t support Governments withdraw of funding to Chipolopolo, Snr Men’s National Team. The decision is immature, emotional and petty.

Yes we are equally hurt about the string of losses by the national soccer team but Minister Nkandu and his team are being impulsive. The decision just makes things worse.

Government should sit down with the FAZ leadership and agree on possible deliverables, make structural and technical changes to the team.

The Keith Mweemba led executive at FAZ is relatively new and settling. Let’s support them to win. Minister Nkandu, you can do better my Brother.

Silavwe Jackson, GPZ President.

Zesco cuts power to only 4 hours of supply daily due to “extreme challenges in electricity generation and access”

(Zesco cuts power to only 4 hours of supply daily due to “extreme challenges in electricity generation and access”)

ZESCO CUSTOMER NOTICE:

ELECTRICITY SCHEDULES: 12 – 18 OCTOBER 2025

#PowerRationingSchedules#Stage11
#Week41

ZESCO regrets to inform its customers and the public that due to extreme challenges in electricity generation and access, the Corporation has activated Stage 11 of Emergency Load Management. Consequently, the electricity rationing schedules for the week, 12 to 18 October 2025, reflect four (4) hours of supply daily for the majority of our residential customers.

The reduction in supply is due to several factors, including:
• Transmission bottlenecks affecting cross-border power flow,
• Regional power system disturbances,
• Critically low water levels in all our hydropower stations, limiting our ability to increase output.

As a result, ZESCO is unable to sustain Stage 10 of load management, where residential customers receive six hours of electricity daily. Under Stage 11, the majority of our residential customers will receive 4 hours of electricity daily.
The disruption to life and commerce caused by insufficient electricity is fully appreciated and deeply regretted. This transition is necessary to maintain the stability of the electricity network and prevent the system from collapsing.
ZESCO is working hard and doing everything possible within its means to resolve the challenges affecting the generation and transmission system and restore better service through improved electricity supply.

To access the schedule for your area, dial *3600#, select option 5, and enter your meter number. You can also use My ZESCO mobile app, visit our website at www.zesco.co.zm or dial our call center numbers 0211 363636 or 322 to check your area’s schedule.

ZESCO remains committed to adhering to the published schedules but faults and other unplanned outages, including those caused by vandalism and theft of our electrical installations, may disrupt these plans. The Corporation will endeavor to promptly communicate such disruptions to the affected customers via SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook, and other media channels. To keep track of any changes, ZESCO encourages customers to register for SMS Updates on *3600#.

Customers are urged to report any outage lasting longer than 24 hours and to help curb the high levels of vandalism and theft by reporting any suspicious activity to law enforcement agencies.

MPOSHA DELIVERS MORE DESKS, WARNS RIVALS: “DON’T PLAY COMEDY WITH EDUCATION”

MPOSHA DELIVERS MORE DESKS, WARNS RIVALS: “DON’T PLAY COMEDY WITH EDUCATION”

Lusaka, 13th October 2025

Hon. Mike Mposha, Minister of Green Economy and Environment and Member of Parliament for Munali Constituency, has reiterated his commitment to improving education through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Today, Monday, he commissioned and handed over 110 new desks to Vera Chiluba Primary School and Mtendere Primary School, a move aimed at enhancing the learning environment for thousands of pupils. The desks, produced by the Zambia Correctional Service, mark the beginning of a new partnership to ensure quality and durability.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Hon. Mposha said the initiative directly fulfills President Hakainde Hichilema’s directive that no child should learn while sitting on the floor.

He emphasized that the free education policy remains a cornerstone of the UPND government’s vision to secure a better future for every child.

Hon. Mposha further announced that Munali’s CDF allocation will increase in the 2026 national budget, with more funds directed toward school infrastructure and furniture.

In a strongly worded message to his political rivals, the MP warned aspiring candidates against what he described as “playing comedy with education.” He accused some opponents of faking donations to gain political mileage and urged school administrators to guard against such deception.
“Anyone aspiring to represent a big constituency like Munali must walk the talk,” said Mposha. “We must never play with the education of our children.”

The head teacher of Vera Chiluba Primary School, Ms. Musonda, expressed gratitude for the desks, noting that the school’s 3,294 learners will benefit greatly, especially with examinations approaching.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Grade 7 pupil Kecious Moyo, who commended the MP and the government for their continued commitment to ensuring that every child learns in a dignified
environment.

Bemba president and Eastern running mate!

Bemba president and Eastern running mate!

An audio recently went viral where former PF secretary general Mumbi Phiri was heard saying that if the PF adopted a Bemba presidential candidate and a running mate from Eastern Province, or vice-versa, the opposition would win the 2026 general elections.

We can’t really put a finger on what really motivated Mumbi to say what she said. What we know is that she was responding to something that someone had submitted in the same WhatsApp group where they are both members

In the audio, Mumbi said if the PF adopted a Bemba president and someone from Eastern Province as running mate, or vice-versa they were going to win.

We just don’t understand what gives Mumbi the certainly that the combination she is proposing for the presidential ticket would succeed, particularly that the PF had the same combination in the 2021 general elections which did not workout. In the 2021 elections, the PF had then incumbent Edgar Lungu for president and Nkandu Luo, a Bemba, but they still lost overwhelmingly to the UPND.

We understand the problems this country has been going through in terms of regional voting, and that will.definitely need to be resolved if the nation is to see progress. This could probably be pushing some to think regionally. However, you don’t address regionalism with regionalism. You address regionalism with much more nationalism and patriotism.

We believe that any ticket that can be chosen is capable of succeeding if that ticket has the right appeal and message, which the masses would be able to buy into.

This country has had presidents that have been elected from across the country. We always believe that Zambians have always treasured their One Zambia One Nation Motto, despite the appetite by politicians to divide this country on regional lines.

Just using President Hakainde Hichilema as the perfect example. Because Zambians are wise enough and always focussed on the One Nation Motto, Hichilema would kor have won the last elections if people focussed on voting regionally. But Zambians on election day decided that their interests went beyond tribe, and as a result Hichilema won votes not only in his traditional strongholds of Southern, Western, North-Western and parts of Central Province, but won significant votes across all the provinces of the country.

Even Michael Sata, he wouldn’t have won the 2011 general elections without significant votes from his traditional strongholds of Northern, Luapula, Copperbelt and Lusaka provinces, as he needed good votes from especially Western Province to push him above

CHAPTER ONE FOUNDATION COMMENDS GOVERNMENT ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS COMMITTEE

CHAPTER ONE Foundation, Executive Director, Josiah Kalala has commended the Government for forming a technical committee to lead consultations on constitutional amendments.

Mr. Kalala states that the Government cannot manage this process alone, as its success depends on thorough consultation with all relevant bodies.

He explains that as a Civil Society Organisation, Chapter One believes in transparency and accountability, which must guide the entire consultation process.

Mr Kalala has further advised the committee to use this period to review past submissions from various stakeholders.

He adds that it is essential for understanding public concerns before any bills are potentially re-tabled in Parliament.

Given that the country is approaching elections in 2026, Mr. Kalala has urged the Government to take its time to avoid public misconceptions.

Govt suspends funding to the Chipolopolo following a string of poor results that saw them fail to qualify to the 2026 World Cup.

GOVERNMENT SUSPENDS FUNDING TO CHIPOLOPOLO

GOVERNMENT has suspended financial support to the Football Association of Zambia Senior Men’s National Football Team, following continued poor performances in recent international matches.

The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts and the National Sports Council of Zambia, has sighted the need for accountability and justification for continued public funding amid disappointing results.

In a statement issued on 13th October 2025, the Ministry has expressed concern over the team’s lack of progress despite significant government expenditure on accommodation, air tickets, bonuses, and the coach’s salary.

The Ministry has emphasised that while government remains committed to supporting sports, it expects tangible results that reflect the level of financial investment made by taxpayers.

Government has since directed FAZ to provide a detailed explanation outlining measures being taken to improve the team’s performance, monitoring mechanisms for the head coach’s contract, and reasons why public funding should not be terminated.

FAZ has been given until 20th October 2025 to respond, after which government will make a final decision on the future of its financial relationship with the association.

Meanwhile, the National Sports Council of Zambia has further warned other sports associations to uphold high performance standards, announcing plans to introduce a National Association Performance Criteria.

MULUNGUSHI: THE DANCE OF A PEOPLE AND THEIR PRESIDENT

MULUNGUSHI: THE DANCE OF A PEOPLE AND THEIR PRESIDENT

By David Zulu

They came in their thousands, dressed in red, singing, chanting, the Mulungushi International Conference Centre pulsing with electric energy. When President Hakainde Hichilema entered, the hall erupted.

It would be folly to call it choreography or coincidence. This was no accident. It was the heartbeat of a people, an organic surge of loyalty and shared purpose.

For some, especially those nursing ambitions or shouting from rooftops abroad that the UPND was “dying,” the sight was unsettling. But for the President, it was his pulse,  the living rhythm that connects him to his fellow citizens.

In that charged moment, his cultural ancestry, born of the cattle-rearing plains of Southern Zambia,  stirred within him. With a knowing smile and the warmth of kinship, he called to the crowd: “Amundikambile ndekalombwana!”

To the uninitiated, it might have sounded like self-conceit. In truth, it was anything but. It was Kukambilwa, a cultural dialogue of pride, gratitude, and community.

Among the Tonga, and in many ancient traditions, such as those of the Red Indians, Kukambilwa is the art of collective celebration. Dancers form a semi-circle, clapping and singing, while one steps forward to tell a story,  of a good hunt, a rich harvest, a daughter’s marriage. Each step is not self-praise, but shared victory; not individual glory, but communal thanksgiving.

So it was at Mulungushi. The President spoke; the people answered. He provoked thought; they roared in affirmation. It was not a rally, but a conversation. Not command, but communion.

In that moment, politics became poetry. Leadership became dialogue. And Kukambilwa,  ancient, rhythmic, alive,  returned as a modern chorus of unity, persuasion, and national aspiration.

Mulungushi became the circle.
The people, the dancers.
Their leader,  one of them.

HOW MUNIR ZULU WON IN LUMEZI

HOW MUNIR ZULU WON IN LUMEZI

October 13, 2020, Richard Phiri , introduced me to Munir Zulu. The meeting was about helping Munir with media activities because there were too many negative stories about him in the media and people had a bad perception about him.  Munir was geared to contest the 2021 elections as MP in Lusaka Central.

The Patriotic Front (PF), in government, controlled media and private media had nothing positive to write about Munir.

Richard knew me through another close friend Ibrahim Mwamba, the current SASYDA President. Ibrahim knew that I got trained in South Africa for digital media, content creation and perception management around 2011.

We sat down with Munir and decided that we would create his own Facebook page where we would post anything about him, and where we will have control.

I suggested we take pictures of him which we would use on his page. So we created Hon. Munir Zulu MP page, after taking a few pictures of him from his house.

We started the work. A few weeks later, I was told that actually, Munir Zulu had abandoned the Lusaka Central Constituency, and was going to stand in Lumezi where he comes from.

A few days later, we were on the road to Lumezi, armed with full media equipment and ready to capture all moments and write everything possible about the journey.

Each trip to Lumezi had over 8 SUV vehicles, with people accompanying Munir. Everyone was taken care of, for accomodation and ka Something whenever there was a trip. In fact, people actually fought for these Lumezi trips because you would never come back with nothing whenever you accompanied Munir.

In Lumezi, Munir knew no promises. If he was told there was a problem with a borehole, he sorted it out there and then without promising to come back later. As the ground work intensified , resistance from the PF – specifically Freedom Sikazwe  and Philila Jere who was incumbent Independent MP but was being promised adoption, and was actually adopted by PF – even became more fierce. Munir became a target of attacks by PF thugs sponsored by those who didn’t want him in Lumezi.

Munir was basically a hated person even at the PF Secretariat. In order to slow him down, Freedom Sikazwe and his friends opted to search for any businesses Munir would have been doing in government in order to block it or block payments. But, the system discovered Munir had no business in Government.

So they wondered, who was funding him and where he was getting money. As someone who became close to Munir during those days, I became aware of his sources of finance. Business. Munir is into all sorts of business, where he generates money genuinely away from government coffers.

However, voters in Lumezi can attest that Munir is a generous person. He solved so many things even before getting into office. In fact, he was nicknamed Pompo Pompo which means, there and then because he solved problems there and then

To make the story short, I did the work and changed the narrative for Munir. He was the first politician I worked with. What an interesting experience it was.

49-YEAR-OLD MAN MURDERED AND BURIED IN A TWO ROOMED MUDDY HOUSE OPERATING AS A SHOP

A 49 year old man identified as Patrick Champolela, popularly known as Choga, has been murdered and buried in a two roomed muddy house that was being used as a shop.

The incident is suspected to have happened between March and 11/10/2025 in Lunda village, Kapirimposhi.

Central Province Commissioner Charity Munganga explains that the deceased went missing in March 2025, but his friend Shadrick Tembo, aged 22, has been operating the same shop  where the body was found since August 2025.

Ms. Munganga reveals that the body was found in a decomposed state,  both legs tied with a green chitenge material  and protruding out of the shallow grave.

She notes that investigations into the matter have instituted and that the friend to the deceased Shadrick Tembo has been detained while the body of the deceased has remained in the house awaiting exhumation and postmortem.

UPND NATIONAL TRUSTEE URGES EFF LEADER TO EMBRACE ISSUE-BASED POLITICS

UPND NATIONAL TRUSTEE URGES EFF LEADER TO EMBRACE ISSUE-BASED POLITICS

LUSAKA, 13 October 2025

United Party for National Development (UPND) National Trustee Grace Chivube has called on Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Joseph Mwenda to refrain from engaging in politics of hate and name-calling, urging him instead to focus on providing constructive checks and balances to the government.

In an exclusive interview, Ms. Chivube said it was regrettable that some opposition leaders continued to attack government policies such as free education and skills training programs under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

She emphasized that Mr. Mwenda should be “thankful that President Hakainde Hichilema has remained committed to improving the lives of the underprivileged.”

She expressed concern that certain politicians had chosen to ignore the significant economic progress being achieved under the New Dawn Administration, opting instead to spread negativity for political mileage.

Responding to claims that the government was not doing enough to resolve the load-shedding crisis, Ms. Chivube dismissed the allegations as baseless.

She said President Hichilema’s public assurance and commitment to ending load-shedding in the shortest possible time demonstrated strong political will and proactive leadership.

Ms. Chivube noted that in just four years of being in office, the UPND government had implemented substantial economic reforms and development programs whose impact could not be easily summarized.

She further pointed out that the fact that opposition figures such as Mr. Mwenda could freely criticize government policies was proof that freedom of speech and expression were fully guaranteed under President Hichilema’s leadership.

“It is unfortunate that a young politician like Mr. Mwenda, who should be rallying behind visionary and progressive leadership, has instead chosen to attack development-oriented initiatives such as the increased CDF,” Ms. Chivube said.

She added that only those “living in denial” could fail to acknowledge the transformative impact of the CDF, which she said had led to over 2.3 million children being readmitted into school and more than 800,000 benefiting from the school feeding programme.

Ms. Chivube said by urging the opposition to engage in issue-based politics and to work together with government in fostering unity and national development.

TEENAGER TESTIFIES: 17-YEAR-OLD SHARES STORY IN SKELETON CASE

A TEENAGER testified how she was suddenly stopped from entering her friend’s house to play, before a skeleton was later discovered in the same house.

The 17-year-old said the occupants would ignore people knocking on the door and kept the house shut and only one woman would be allowed to enter.

“When this woman is there, around 15:00 hours or 16:00 hours, they would start praying loudly and we would hear them from outside [since we lived at the servant’s quarter].”

She was testifying in a case Sylvia Mutaba, 51, is accused of causing the death of her husband, George Mutaba, in 2023.

The man’s skeletal remains were later found in his house this year in January, leading to the arrest of his wife, three daughters, and the former’s prayer partner, Preteria Mbandama.

Mr Kalaba’s daughters and Mbandama pleaded guilty to failing to report his death to authorities and were sentenced to one-month imprisonment, which they have already served.

Mutaba is solely charged with manslaughter.

During trial, a minor we shall call Sera, narrated that in 2015, her family shifted to Lusaka’s Garden-Luangwa at Mr Kalaba’s residence.

She said her family lived at the servant’s quarter while the Kalabas lived 10 metres away in the main house, where she frequented to play with his daughter, Mapalo (pseudonym).

Football star Mohamed Salah appears on registered voters list in Cameroon presidential election

As Cameroon held presidential elections on Sunday, the face of Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah, appeared on the list of registered voters at the Ngaoundéré III polling station.

After some fact-checking, several media outlets have confirmed that this image does indeed appear on the official site of Elecam, the body responsible for organizing the elections.

This coincidence has sparked plenty of laughter online, but it also reignited concerns about the reliability of Cameroon’s electoral lists.

The country began counting votes on Sunday after the presidential election in which incumbent Paul Biya, the world’s oldest ruler at 92, is widely expected to extend his 43-year grip on power.

Akon’s Wife Demands €100 Million in Divorce Settlement After 29 Years of Marriage

African American singer Akon’s wife, Tomeka Thiam, is reportedly seeking €100 million (about US$108 million) as part of their divorce settlement after 29 years of marriage.

Tomeka claims she deserves the money as compensation for the support she provided throughout Akon’s career, saying she played a significant role in helping him build his wealth and success.

However, the court handling the case has so far only found about US$10,000 in Akon’s accounts. Reports suggest that most of the artist’s wealth may be registered under his mother’s name.

The revelation has sparked debate on social media, with some people accusing Akon of deliberately transferring ownership of his assets to avoid paying the settlement, while others argue that the singer may indeed be facing financial difficulties.

Female Police Officer Attempts Suic!de After Boyfriend Marries Another Woman

A female police officer from Phalombe Police Station, Sergeant Eliza Masina, is battling for her life at Holy Family Mission Hospital after allegedly attempting suicide by ingesting poison.

According to a police flash report issued by Phalombe Police Station and addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East Region), the incident occurred on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Sakhome Village, Traditional Authority Nkhumba, in Phalombe District.

The report states that Sgt Masina allegedly consumed an unknown poisonous substance in what is suspected to be a suicide attempt.

“A report was received that Sgt Eliza Masina of Phalombe Police Station tried to commit suicide by poisoning after taking in an unknown poisonous substance,” reads part of the report.

Police findings suggest that Sgt Masina had been struggling emotionally after her longtime fiancé, identified only as Allan, ended their relationship and married another woman two years ago.

“Briefly, the officer had a fiancé named Allan and they were about to get married. For no reason, the man dumped her and married another woman, and she has been heartbroken,” the report adds.

On the day of the incident, Sgt Masina reportedly sent a message to her fellow female officers, informing them that she had taken poison and was about to die. Her colleagues rushed to her home but found the door locked from the inside.

One officer managed to retrieve the house key through a window, and upon entering, they found Sgt Masina lying unconscious on the floor. She was immediately taken to Holy Family Mission Hospital, where she was admitted and is now reported to be in fair condition.

Police say an inquiry into the incident has been opened under reference number PB/CID/13/1, while further investigations continue

Malawi Braces for Food Shortage Crisis Affecting Millions

Malawi is set to face a daunting food security challenge, with approximately four million citizens, accounting for 22 percent of the population, projected to grapple with severe food shortages from October 2025 through March 2026.

This stark projection stems from the latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report unveiled by the government alongside its development partners.

The IPC report points to a confluence of factors driving the precarious food situation: subpar harvests, escalated production costs, and inflationary pressures have collectively propelled maize prices upwards, hitting K1,100 per kilogramme compared to K722 during the corresponding period last year.

Maize being a staple food in Malawi underscores the gravity of this price surge for household food access.

In response, Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development Joseph Mwanamvekha has affirmed government’s resolve to collaborate with humanitarian partners.

The aim is twofold: to extend support to the most affected districts and to scout strategies for stabilizing maize supply chains and moderating prices.

“Government will work with humanitarian partners to support the most affected districts and explore ways to stabilise maize supply and prices,” Mwanamvekha’s statement indicated.

Economists tracking Malawi’s economic indicators have sounded cautionary notes, warning that burgeoning food prices threaten to stoke inflation further and amplify fiscal strains as the lean season approaches.

With vulnerability looming large over households dependent on staple food affordability, timely interventions are being spotlighted to mitigate hardship hitting Malawians hardest.

After weeks of GenZ protests against loadsheding, Madagascar’s President Flees the country

After weeks of GenZ protests against loadsheding, Madagascar’s President Flees the country

Madagascar’s president has fled the African nation, the head of the opposition and other officials said on Monday, the second time that young protesters have toppled a government in weeks of worldwide Gen Z unrest.

Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko, leader of the opposition in parliament, told Reuters that President Andry Rajoelina left Madagascar on Sunday after units of the army defected and joined the protesters.

“We called the staff of the presidency, and they confirmed that he left the country,” Randrianasoloniaiko said, adding that Rajoelina’s current whereabouts were unknown.

The president’s office, which had earlier said Rajoelina would address the nation at 7 p.m. local time on Monday, did not reply to requests for comment.

Man ‘urinates’ on sacred Vatican altar in front of hundreds of horrified tourists

Visitors to St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City were left horrified on Friday morning, October 10, after a man urinated on the Altar of Confession, one of the holiest sites in Catholicism, in full view of hundreds of worshippers and tourists.

According to Corriere della Sera, the man managed to get past the turnstiles surrounding the sacred area and climb the steps to the altar at around 9:30 a.m. before committing the act. Shocking footage circulating on social media shows the suspect with his trousers lowered, urinating on the altar believed to rest directly above the tomb of Saint Peter, the chief disciple of Jesus Christ.

Witnesses described the moment as deeply disturbing, with some onlookers turning away while others stared in disbelief. Plainclothes police officers swiftly intervened and led the man away, arresting him at the scene. Before being taken into custody, the man reportedly made an obscene gesture toward the crowd.

Reports indicate that Pope Leo XIV was informed of the desecration and was said to be “shocked” by the incident. The Lepanto Institute, an organization dedicated to defending Catholic sanctuaries, has since called for the altar to be “reconsecrated” following what it described as a grave act of desecration.

The video has sparked widespread outrage online, with many devout Catholics expressing anger and sorrow. Some social media users argued that the Vatican’s openness to millions of tourists annually may have contributed to declining reverence for holy spaces.

One user commented, “Are we allowing the disrespect because we ourselves no longer demand any level of respect? Maybe it’s time to stop turning cathedrals into tourist attractions and enforce proper conduct.”

This is not the first time St Peter’s Basilica has been targeted. In 2023, a naked man with “Save children of Ukraine” scrawled across his back jumped onto the same altar, and earlier this year, another individual was arrested after vandalising the site and damaging valuable candelabras.

Vatican authorities have not yet released the suspect’s identity, but Italian police confirmed that an investigation is underway. The Basilica has since been closed temporarily for cleaning and security review.

Trump questions popularity of Tony Blair for Gaza ‘Board of Peace’ role

U.S. President Donald Trump has questioned whether former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair would serve on a new “Board of Peace” intended to oversee the governance of Gaza, citing ongoing criticisms of Blair for his ‘role’ in the Iraq War.

“I’ve always liked Tony, but I want to find out that he’s an acceptable choice to everybody,” Trump said, without naming specific leaders who could be weighing in on his choice of Blair.

A Gaza peace plan floated by the White House last month listed Blair as a member of the proposed board, which would manage the territory’s reconstruction and administration until a reformed Palestinian Authority is ready to take over.

Trump made his remarks to reporters aboard Air Force One during a flight to Israel. He is scheduled to address the Knesset on Monday and plans to attend a world leaders’ summit in Egypt aimed at formally ending the Gaza war, as a ceasefire now enters its fourth day.

Israelis are awaiting the planned release of the remaining 20 hostages still believed to be alive and held by Hamas since October 7, 2023, when the militant group’s attacks triggered the devastating Gaza war.

The Board of Peace will get up and running quickly, Trump said, but he sounded uncertain about whether Blair would be well received by everyone involved. “I want to find out that Tony would be popular with all because I just don’t know that,” Trump said.

The notion of putting Blair on the board sparked disbelief among Palestinian politicians and analysts, and among members of his own Labour Party in Britain, where his reputation suffered from his decision to back the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Following that U.S.-led invasion, the claims by the United States and Britain that Iraq held weapons of mass destruction were ultimately shown to be false.

Trump says he might not get into heaven

US President Donald Trump has made a candid remark about his spiritual journey.

Speaking to press aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Oct. 12, the president, 79, answered a question about his August statements regarding his attempts to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine during which he said, “If I can save 7,000 people a week from being killed, I think that’s pretty — I want to try to get to heaven if possible.”

“I’m being a little cute,” Trump told reporters on Sunday about his previous comments, before quipping, “I don’t think there’s anything going to get me in heaven.”

“I really don’t. I think I’m not maybe heaven-bound. I may be in heaven right now as we fly on Air Force One,” he continued. “I’m not sure I’m going to be able to make heaven, but I’ve made life a lot better for a lot of people.”

Trump went on to tell the press that “had the election of 2020 not been rigged,” he could have prevented Russian President Vladimir Putin from invading Ukraine.

“We had an incompetent administration. We had an incompetent president. And because of a crooked election, millions of people are dead,” Trump said, referring to former President Joe Biden. “And by the way, the Israeli thing was much harder to get settled because of the past administration.”

During a phone interview with Fox & Friends on Aug. 19, the president gave a new explanation for taking action to end the war in Ukraine, including positioning himself as a mediator between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“If I can save 7,000 people a week from being killed, I think that’s pretty — I want to try to get to heaven if possible,” Trump said at the time.

“I’m hearing that I’m not doing well. I am really at the bottom of the totem pole,” he added, to laughter from the Fox News hosts. “But if I can get to heaven, this will be one of the reasons.”

Days later, Trump referenced his goal to “get into heaven” again when his campaign sent out emails asking for donations that read, “I want to try and get to Heaven.”

The emails which reportedly began on Aug. 23, requested supporters to donate $15 during a “24-HOUR TRUMP FUNDRAISING BLITZ” to the president, the Independent, Snopes, and Newsweek reported.

The new emails’ subject line includes, “I want to try and get to Heaven,” per the outlets.

“Last year, I came millimeters from death when that bullet pierced through my skin. My triumphant return to the White House was never supposed to happen!” the email says in reference to the July 2024 assassination attempt against Trump in Butler, Pa.

“But I believe that God saved me for one reason: TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!,” the message says, according to the Independent. “I certainly wasn’t supposed to survive an assassin’s bullet, but by the grace of the almighty God, I did. SO NOW, I have no other choice but to answer the Call to Duty, but I can’t do it alone.”

Trump asks Israeli President to pardon Benjamin Netanyahu

In a moment of political drama, U.S. President Donald Trump, during his address to the Israeli parliament (Knesset) in Jerusalem on Monday, urged Israeli President Isaac Herzog to grant a pardon to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is currently on trial for corruption.

Making an unexpected detour from his prepared remarks, Trump publicly appealed to the Israeli head of state, stating: “Hey, I have an idea. Mr. President, why don’t you give him a pardon? Cigars and some champagne — who the hell cares?”

This comment directly referred to one of the three cases for which Netanyahu was indicted in 2019, which alleges the prime minister and his wife accepted luxury gifts, including nearly 700,000 shekels (approximately $210,000) worth of cigars and champagne, from wealthy businessmen in exchange for political favors.

The Israeli President holds the constitutional authority to issue pardons, although the role is largely ceremonial. Netanyahu is facing charges of fraud, bribery, and breach of trust, all of which he vehemently denies, labeling the legal proceedings a “left-wing witch-hunt” designed to remove a right-wing leader.

His long-running trial, which began in 2020, has seen frequent interruptions due to both the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing war and geopolitical turmoil in the Middle East.

Trump’s call for clemency came during a visit focused on celebrating the U.S.-brokered Gaza peace deal and the subsequent release of all remaining living Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

The American president’s comments on Netanyahu’s domestic legal troubles echo his previous statements from June, where he publicly called for the trial to be canceled.

Leaked Document: VP Chiwenga’s Explosive Presentation To Politburo Warning “History Is Repeating Itself” [FULL TEXT]

A confidential document authored by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and presented to the Zanu PF politburo on September 17 has leaked, exposing an extraordinary internal confrontation over alleged corruption and the influence of powerful business figures close to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

In the seven-page presentation, seen by ZimLive, Chiwenga accused businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei of orchestrating what he described as “the brazen and systematic looting” of state resources and using the proceeds to capture key state and party structures.

Chiwenga alleged that Tagwirei alone had siphoned more than US$1.9 billion from public funds through the ministry of finance under the pretext of selling a 35 percent stake in Kuvimba Mining House to the government.

He further claimed that Tagwirei had illegally taken control of state assets, including Sandawana Mine and the Zimbabwe Defence Forces’ stake in Great Dyke Investments, and incorporated them into his private business empire.

The vice president also accused Tagwirei of concealing the ruling party’s supposed 45 percent shareholding in Sakunda Holdings — held through a company called Mvuto Investments (Pvt) Ltd — which Chiwenga said had been purchased in 2013 as part of a party investment initiative.

Mvuto, Chiwenga said, was part of Zanu PF’s investment vehicle, the little-known National Reconstruction Group, which was previously revealed to own 40 percent of Kusena Diamonds.

“These criminals have stolen more than US$3.2 billion of government funds,” Chiwenga wrote, naming Wicknell Chivhayo, Scott Sakupwanya, and Delish Nguwaya as other beneficiaries of what he called a coordinated looting network.

According to the leaked document, Chiwenga alleged that:

▪️ Chivhayo stole US$45 million from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and more than US$193 million “through one bank.”

▪️Sakupwanya took more than US$800 million through the “gold incentive scheme, which has now become a tollgate fraud.”

▪️ Nguwaya benefited from US$222 million in inflated government contracts, including the Pomona waste-to-energy project and Clean Planet Resources supply deals with the ministry of health.

Chiwenga accused the businessmen of funding the so-called “2030 Agenda”, a campaign allegedly aimed at extending President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s stay in power beyond the constitutional limit, and of bribing party structures to support it.

“The time for silence and inaction is over,” he wrote. “We cannot fold our hands while these criminals steal from our state coffers and use the same resources to corrupt our party and destroy our revolution.”

The vice president also warned that the group had turned the president’s private office into a “parallel centre of government decision-making.”

The document is believed to have triggered significant tensions inside Zanu PF ahead of the party’s annual conference in Mutare, though neither the presidency nor the individuals named have publicly responded to the allegations.

ZimLive understands Mnangagwa has prepared his response to Chiwenga, which he intends to table at the party’s politburo meeting which precedes the annual conference running from October 13 to 18.

Tagwirei, a politically connected tycoon whose businesses dominate Zimbabwe’s fuel, mining and agriculture sectors, has long denied accusations of corruption or undue influence, saying his companies operate lawfully and transparently.

Chiwenga’s explosive claims — now confirmed through the leaked dossier — mark one of the most direct challenges yet to Mnangagwa’s authority.

How Africa’s Second Placed Teams Qualify For FIFA World Cup 2026: Explainer

Explaining Africa’s Complex World Cup Qualification Path For Runners-Up Teams
The race for a place at the FIFA World Cup 2026 is almost complete across Africa, with just one matchday remaining. While the winners of the nine qualifying groups will secure their tickets directly, second-placed teams face a different path. Their hopes now depend on a demanding play-off system that will determine which nation goes forward to represent Africa in the intercontinental FIFA Play-Off Tournament.

The Complex Path For The Best Runners-Up
Nine runners-up, one from each group, are compared to determine the best four. However, to ensure fairness, results against the last-placed team in each group are not considered. Only matches against the top five teams are counted.

CAF confirmed:

“There will be nine runners-up, one from each group. To compare them fairly, the results against the last-placed team in each group are not counted. This means only matches against the top five teams in each group are used for the comparison.”

The exception is Group E, where Eritrea withdrew, leaving only five teams. In that case, all results are valid.

The top four runners-up will advance to a CAF play-off tournament in November 2025, featuring two semi-finals and a final. The winner of that play-off earns Africa’s sole spot in the intercontinental play-offs scheduled for March 2026.

Morocco (Group E)
Algeria (Group G)
Tunisia (Group H)
Ghana (Group I)
The last four automatic slots will be decided on the final matchday in:

Group B – Between Senegal and DR Congo

Group F – Between Ivory Coast and Gabon
Africa’s Single Shot At The Global Play-Off Tournament
The CAF play-off winner will go into the six-team FIFA Play-Off Tournament in March 2026. This knockout contest will determine the final two teams for the 48-team World Cup.

FIFA outlined the structure:

“The FIFA Play-Off Tournament will see six sides fight it out for the final two places at the FIFA World Cup 26. It will involve two teams from Concacaf and one team apiece from the AFC, CAF, CONMEBOL and OFC.”

The four lowest-ranked teams will meet in the semi-finals, while the two highest-ranked teams go directly into the finals. The two winners secure the last tickets to the World Cup.

For Af rica’s representative, the road is brutal — group battles, a CAF play-off, and then one last international fight for survival.

Mnangagwa Pledges State Aid After Limpopo Bus Crash Kills 42 In South Africa

Mnangagwa Mourns Victims Of Tragic Limpopo Bus Disaster, Promises State Support
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has expressed shock and grief following the fatal bus crash in Limpopo, South Africa, that claimed at least 42 lives on Sunday, 12 October 2025. The accident involved a DNC Coaches bus travelling from Gqeberha to Harare and Malawi. Zimbabwean citizens were among the dead.

Mnangagwa’s Message Of Condolence
In an official statement issued on 13 October 2025, President Mnangagwa described the accident as devastating.

He said:

“It is with a deep sense of shock and grief that I learnt of the fatal road accident which claimed at least 40 people, who are drawn from different nationalities, including Zimbabwean citizens. That so many lives were lost in this incident once more urges us to ensure maximum diligence in the movement of our peoples regardless of borders and differences in legislation. Life remains precious whenever it is lost and in whatever country.”

He went on to stress the need for stronger regional cooperation on road safety within the SADC community.

“In view of increased cross-border movements in our SADC region, facilitated by our collective efforts towards a borderless Community, it has become incumbent for traffic enforcement agencies across jurisdictions to collaborate more closely, and for our respective Governments to harmonise our legislations in respect of vehicular traffic,” said the President.

State Assistance For Victims
Mnangagwa also confirmed that government support will be extended to the affected families.

“On behalf of the Government of Zimbabwe, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to families of the bereaved commuters here in Zimbabwe and other SADC countries so affected. I have instructed the relevant Government Departments and Agencies in Zimbabwe to extend State Assistance towards the repatriation of the remains of Zimbabweans who perished in the accident, and to extend similar assistance towards their burial. In respect of the injured, the Government will meet all hospital bills.”

The announcement brought some relief to families waiting for the return of their loved ones.

Ramaphosa Also Sends Condolences
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa also issued a statement on 13 October 2025, mourning the victims and offering solidarity to Zimbabwe and Malawi.

He said:

“This incident is a tragedy for South Africa and our sister states of Zimbabwe and Malawi alike. This sadness is compounded by the fact that this incident has taken place during our annual Transport Month, where we place a special focus on the importance of safety on our roads.”

Ramaphosa added:

“Our roads are also economic networks that bring the people of our region together across our national borders. We must do everything we can as road users, as transport operators, drivers and passengers to ensure that we stay safe and that we share our roads responsibly and with care for one another.”

Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing. The N1 near Ingwe Lodge remained closed for several hours on 12 October 2025 while emergency services cleared the wreckage.

South African police officers arrested for robbing Ethiopian nationals of R950k and R1.5m illegal cigarettes

Four police officers from Limpopo, armed with state-issued firearms, have been arrested alongside a civilian after allegedly robbing a group of Ethiopian nationals of R950,000 in cash and illicit cigarettes valued at around R1.5 million in Lydenburg, Mpumalanga

According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, the victims were asleep on Friday night when a group of armed suspects stormed their premises. The suspects were reportedly using three vehicles, a grey Toyota double-cab bakkie with Limpopo registration plates, a private vehicle believed to be a Suzuki or Avanza, and a marked SAPS VW Golf GTI confirmed to belong to the Polokwane Flying Squad.

Mdhluli said the private vehicle fled the scene carrying multiple boxes of illicit cigarettes and cash. Following an operation, officers arrested three male SAPS members, one female officer, and a 29-year-old civilian. Police also seized the vehicles, along with ammunition, cash, and boxes of cigarettes found at the scene.

Investigators discovered that the registration plates on the seized vehicles had been altered with black sellotape to obscure their true identity. Two of the arrested officers were carrying their official service firearms, which have since been confiscated.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Mashishing Magistrate’s Court on charges of house robbery, though additional charges may follow as the investigation progresses. The case has been transferred to the Hawks for further inquiry.

Acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Dr. Zeph Mkhwanazi, condemned the officers’ actions, stating that the SAPS remains committed to eradicating corruption within its ranks. “No one is above the law. We will not tolerate any form of criminality within our ranks. The swift arrest of these individuals demonstrates our zero-tolerance approach to corruption and criminal behaviour,” he said.

Eminem’s daughter announces she’s expecting her first child

Eminem’s family is growing again as his daughter, Alaina Marie Scott, has announced that she’s expecting her first child with her husband, Matt Moeller.

The 32-year-old shared the news in an emotional Instagram post on October 12, writing, “For months, I’ve carried a tiny heartbeat inside me, one that has already changed mine in every possible way. I’ve never felt more grateful for this gift and to grow our family, something we’ve wanted for so long. Thank you, God, for this blessing.”

Alaina also shared photos from the moment she revealed the news to Matt. In the pictures, she’s seen leading him—blindfolded—into a room decorated with gold “BABY M” balloons, before unveiling a shoebox containing baby sneakers and a positive pregnancy test.

The couple, who got married in 2023, were all smiles as they posed with a baby onesie that read, “Baby Moeller coming 2026.”

Alaina was adopted by Eminem in the early 2000s. Her biological mother, the late Dawn Scott, was the sister of the rapper’s ex-wife, Kim Mathers.

Eminem famously walked Alaina down the aisle during her wedding last year—a moment she described as unforgettable.

Her pregnancy comes months after her sister, Hailie Jade, welcomed her first child, Elliot, with husband Evan McClintock, making Eminem a grandfather for the second time.

My nose has swelled so much,I couldn’t kiss my wife – Man recounts after nose surgery

For six long years, 68-year-old Gerard McAliece watched helplessly as his nose grew uncontrollably larger, to the point where he could no longer kiss his wife, Carol.

The retired IBM employee from Kilmacolm, Scotland, said the gradual swelling began around six years ago, but he initially tried to ignore it. “It just kept growing and growing,” Gerard recalled. “People began to stare, and some would turn away, but I thought, ‘this is me — take me as I am.’”

What started as a minor change soon became a major burden. His nose swelled to such an extent that it hung over his mouth, making him increasingly self-conscious. “The younger kids were the worst,” he said. “They have no filter. I used to worry about what my grandchildren’s friends would think at their birthday parties.”

Despite the obvious distress, Gerard said his concerns were initially dismissed when he sought medical help. “They asked if I could breathe and I said yes. That was the end of it,” he explained. “I didn’t want to push it because I thought there were more important things going on.”

It wasn’t until Carol insisted they pursue private treatment that Gerard received a proper diagnosis. Specialists at Glasgow’s Ever Clinic identified his condition as Rhinophyma — a severe disorder in which the sebaceous glands and connective tissue of the nose enlarge, leading to pronounced swelling, redness, and lumpiness. According to the British Association of Dermatologists, the condition often develops in people with rosacea, though the exact cause remains unclear.

By then, the tissue on Gerard’s nose had become one of the worst cases the clinic had ever seen. Surgeons performed a complex four-hour procedure to remove the excess growth and restore his facial structure. “They said it was the biggest job they had ever tackled,” Gerard said. “It was a real challenge, but they managed to complete it in one session.”

Although the anaesthetic began to wear off toward the end of the operation, Gerard said the results were “absolutely worth it.”

Now fully recovered, he describes the transformation as life-changing. “It’s totally turned my life around,” he said proudly. “Carol says I’m back to being the man I used to be. I’m going out again, meeting people, having a pint, and enjoying meals things we hadn’t done in years.”

Offering words of encouragement to others facing similar struggles, Gerard added: “If there’s anyone out there in the position I was in, my advice would be don’t wait. Just do it.”

‘Settle the war or face Tomahawks’: U.S. President Donald Trump issues new warning to Russia

U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that he may provide long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine if Russia doesn’t settle the ongoing war soon, using the potential weapon supply as a key leverage point against Moscow.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One while traveling to Israel and Egypt, Trump stated, “I might say, ‘Look: if this war is not going to get settled, I’m going to send them Tomahawks.'”

He described the Tomahawk as an “incredible weapon, very offensive weapon” that Russia does not need, suggesting the prospect of its introduction could pressure President Vladimir Putin.

The warning followed a “very productive” phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who had requested the Tomahawk missiles as part of discussions to strengthen Ukraine’s long-range capabilities and air defense. Tomahawk missiles, which have a range of up to 2,500 km (1,550 miles) depending on the variant, would allow Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory.

Trump acknowledged this as “a new step of aggression,” saying he didn’t think Russia would want “Tomahawks going in that direction.”

Moscow has repeatedly warned against supplying Tomahawks, with Putin having previously said it would “seriously damage” U.S.-Russia relations and trigger a “qualitatively new stage of escalation.”

Trump stressed that a settlement would be beneficial for Putin, saying, “I really think Mr. Putin would look great if he got this settled, and it’s not going to be good for him if not.”

Marcus Rashford appears to blame Man United for his career going downhill

Marcus Rashford has suggested that Manchester United’s “inconsistent environment” has hindered his ability to maintain top form throughout his career.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed an impressive start to life with his new club Barcelona, scoring three times and providing five assists in 10 appearances to date.

Rashford’s form has kept him in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad in the build-up to next summer’s FIFA World Cup.

The forward was asked by ITV ahead of England’s latest qualifier against Latvia on Tuesday about Tuchel’s assessment that Rashford only needs consistency to take him to a world-class level.

In response, Rashford acknowledged his desire to be a more consistent player but hinted that Manchester United’s environment has hindered his progress so far.

‘For sure, consistency is a massive part of it,’ Rashford said. I feel like I have been in an inconsistent environment for a very long time, so it is even more difficult to be consistent.

‘But I completely agree, I think consistency is what I need to bring into my game and I am looking to do that. I want to be at my best, not sometimes, but as often as possible.

‘When people talk about consistency, in order to be consistent in anything not just sport, you need consistent variables in your life and the way you train.

‘We have just had so many changes so far in my career but I have to look forward and that it definitely one of the things I want to put right and improve on to be at my best more often.

‘When I am at my best I really enjoy everything about the sport.’

China detains prominent ‘underground’ Pastor Jin Mingri

Chinese authorities have detained Jin Mingri, the founder of the well-known unregistered Zion Church, along with more than 20 of its members, in what human rights observers are calling one of the most sweeping crackdowns on underground Christian groups in recent years.

Jin, also known as Ezra, was arrested at his home in Guangxi on Friday, while several other pastors were taken into custody overnight in cities including Beijing. According to a detention notice verified by AFP, Jin is being held on suspicion of the “illegal use of information networks.”

Church statements indicated that at least seven pastors, including Jin, could face criminal charges for “illegally disseminating religious information via the internet.” Police reportedly searched their homes and seized electronic devices such as computers and mobile phones.

“This is a blatant attack on religious freedom,” said Jin’s daughter, Grace, who confirmed that lawyers were prevented from meeting detained church members in Beihai on Monday. She and her mother, both based in the United States, have been unable to contact Jin since his arrest.

Sean Long, a Zion pastor currently in the U.S., told reporters that the arrests were “devastating but not surprising.” He added, “We pray for the best, but we have to prepare for the worst.”

Founded in 2007 in Beijing, Zion Church quickly grew to a congregation of around 1,500 members before it was forcibly closed by authorities in 2018. Despite government pressure, the church continued to thrive online, holding services via Zoom and organizing small gatherings across more than 40 cities — a move that reportedly angered Chinese officials.

“The government knows Zion’s influence, and I believe this crackdown was planned at the highest level,” Long said. “It’s an embarrassment for them after shutting down the church in 2018, and now they’re moving to silence it completely.”

The Zion Church arrests follow a series of actions against underground Christian groups across China. In May, Pastor Gao Quanfu of the Light of Zion Church was detained on charges of “using superstitious activities to undermine justice,” while in June, several members of the Golden Lampstand Church were convicted of fraud, with its pastor receiving a 15-year sentence.

Although China’s constitution nominally protects religious freedom, the government tightly controls faith-related activity. Only state-sanctioned churches are legally permitted to operate, while unregistered “house churches” are often subject to surveillance, raids, and arrests.

In 2022, Beijing banned all online religious services without government approval, and just last month introduced new regulations prohibiting preaching through livestreams, videos, or social media platforms such as WeChat.

The United States has condemned the arrests. “This crackdown further demonstrates how the CCP exercises hostility towards Christians who reject Party interference in their faith,” said U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, calling for the immediate release of those detained.

When asked about the arrests, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian declined to comment directly, saying only that China “firmly opposes U.S. interference in its internal affairs under the pretext of religious issues.”

Grace Jin said her family remains deeply concerned for her father’s safety. “In my mind, we’ve played out this scenario since I was a kid,” she said. “Being a Christian in China, you just know something like this could happen.”

Actor Al Pacino says he regrets not marrying late actress Diane Keaton

Hollywood legend Al Pacino is said to be deeply remorseful over not marrying fellow actor Diane Keaton, following her death on Saturday at the age of 79.

According to a report by Daily Mail, a close friend of the 85-year-old actor revealed that Pacino has long viewed Keaton as “the love of his life,” and now feels the weight of missed chances. “He’ll forever regret he didn’t make his move when he had the chance,” the friend said, adding that Pacino often used to remark, “If it’s meant to be, it’s never too late for a do-over. But sadly, now it is.”

Pacino and Keaton met in 1974 while filming The Godfather, where she portrayed his on-screen partner. The two began dating soon afterward but ended their relationship in 1990 after Pacino reportedly declined to settle down.

Keaton appeared to have found peace with their past. In a 2017 interview, she reflected that although the breakup wasn’t her choice at the time, life had ultimately worked out for the best.

Diane Keaton’s death was confirmed on Saturday, October 11, though the cause has not yet been made public. Her passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes from across the film industry, remembering her as one of Hollywood’s most beloved and distinctive talents.
