Court upholds conviction of rapper Nipsey Hussle’s killer

A California court has upheld Eric Ronald Holder’s first-degree murder conviction for shooting rapper Nipsey Hussle outside the musician’s South Los Angeles clothing store.

Holder Jr., now 34, is serving a 60-years-to-life state prison sentence for the March 31, 2019, killing of the 33-year-old rapper, whose real name was Ermias Joseph Asghedom.

In its 25-page ruling, the three-justice panel from California’s 2nd District Court of Appeal rejected the defense’s challenge to Superior Court Judge H. Clay Jacke’s decision to sustain the prosecution’s objection to a portion of the closing argument by Holder’s trial attorney that purported to describe what the defendant was thinking and feeling before the shooting.

“Appellant did not testify, and no other evidence about what appellant was thinking or feeling prior to the shooting was presented to the jury,” Presiding Justice Elwood Lui wrote on behalf of the panel. “Thus, the inferences about appellant’s specific thoughts and feelings that defense counsel purported to draw were not based on the evidence, and the trial court did not abuse its discretion in limiting that portion of counsel’s argument.”

The panel also turned down the defense’s claim that the judge abused his discretion when he declined to dismiss a gun enhancement that added 25 years to life to Holder’s sentence, finding that “the record here affirmatively shows the trial court fully understood and properly exercised its discretion when it declined to dismiss the firearm enhancement.”

“The court emphasized its responsibility to consider and evaluate the mitigation evidence presented by the defense, particularly the evidence of appellant’s history of mental illness, and it indicated that the sentence it was about to pronounce balanced appellant’s mitigating evidence with the devastation appellant had caused to the victims and their families,” Lui wrote, with Associate Justices Judith Ashmann-Gerst and Brian Hoffstadt concurring in the ruling.

Along with the first-degree murder charge, Holder was found guilty in July 2022 of two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter and assault with a firearm involving two other men who were injured in the shooting and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Jurors also found true allegations that he personally and intentionally discharged a handgun and that he personally inflicted great bodily injury on one of the two surviving victims.

The judge refused in December 2022 to reduce Holder’s conviction to second-degree murder or voluntary manslaughter, with the 60-years-to-life sentence subsequently being handed down in February 2023.

Deputy District Attorney John McKinney noted in his sentencing memorandum that Holder “used two handguns during the commission of his crimes” and “inflicted 11 gunshot wounds with no less than 10 separately fired shots into the body of Asghedom from close range” and that he “kicked Asghedom in the head while he lay dying on the ground.”

Defense attorney Aaron Jansen said at the sentencing that his client was already the subject of death threats and that “his life in prison is going to be hell for as long as it lasts.”

Police investigating singer Liam Payne’s de@th raid the homes of a ‘friend’ and two workers at the hotel

0

Police in Argentina investigating the death of Liam Payne have reportedly raided the homes of two hotel employees and a ‘friend’ of the former One Direction singer.

According to TMZ, the raids were carried out on Tuesday night, while lockers of the workers at the hotel where the 31-year-old died were also searched.

Police believe the employees had been in contact with Liam before he plunged to his death from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel last month.

According to TMZ’s report, Liam’s ‘friend’ was identified by police by looking at messages on his phone to see who sold him drugs.

However, it is understood the person officers were looking to speak to was not at home during the raid last night.

This development comes after police raided the same hotel late last month and seized electronic and paper records.

Argentinian officers were following up on allegations that staff had sold Liam drugs in the hours leading up to his death.

A post-mortem examination in the wake of his death determined that the 31-year-old’s cause of death on October 16 was from the head injuries sustained during his fall.

Prosecutors have since explored the theory that Liam was in ‘a state of semi or total unconsciousness’ during an apparent drug-fuelled episode on the morning of his death.

A hotel reception worker made a distressing 999 call requesting ‘urgent’ assistance after Payne had been acting erratically and was escorted back to his hotel room.

The hotel worker made two calls, saying in the first: ‘We have a guest who’s off his head on drugs and is destroying everything in his room. We need someone to come.’

He then phoned back after the line went dead, saying: ‘I don’t know if the guest’s life is in danger. The room has a balcony and we are afraid he might do something.’

Payne was said to have been ‘acting erratically in the hotel lobby and smashed his laptop’ before he ‘had to be carried back to his room’, according to local media.

Seconds later the employee, who identified himself as Esteban, added: ‘Just send an ambulance, only an ambulance.’ Workers had heard a loud sound in the courtyard before the singer’s body was discovered just after 5pm local time (9pm UK time).

Kamala Harris finally concedes election to Donald Trump

US Vice President and Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris has delivered her concession speech on to the nation after losing the presidential elections to Republican Donald Trump.

In her concession speech at Howard University in Washington, Harris promised a peaceful transfer of power to Donald Trump.

Kamala Harris said that she accepts the outcome of the elections, but pledged to continue fighting for women’s rights and against gun violence and to “fight for the dignity that all people deserve.”

“While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign,” she told her supporters at Howard University in Washington.

Harris also promised a peaceful transfer of power to Donald Trump and said that honoring election results is what distinguishes a democracy from a monarchy or tyranny.

“We must accept the results of this election. Earlier today, I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory,” Harris said in her speech at the Howard University in Washington. “I also told him that we would help him and his team with their transition and that we would engage in a peaceful transfer of power.”

“The outcome of this election is not what we wanted, not what we fought for, not what we voted for, but hear me when I say that the light of America’s promise will always burn bright as long as we never give up and as long as we keep fighting,” Harris said.

She also encouraged her supporters, particularly young people, not to give up even in their disappointment. “Sometimes the fight takes a while. That doesn’t mean we won’t win,” Harris added.

Donald Trump won the US presidential election for a second term, handing Harris a shock defeat in one of the most remarkable comebacks in American electoral history.

Trump won 295 electoral votes to Harris’ 226. Counting in Nevada and Arizona is still going on.

“I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president,” Trump told cheering supporters in Florida even before his victory was confirmed.

“We’ve been through so much together, and today you showed up in record numbers to deliver a victory,” Trump said. “This was something special and we’re going to pay you back,” he said.

I will be back like Donald Trump – Lusambo

I will be back like Donald Trump – Lusambo

JAILED former Lusaka Province minister Bowman Lusambo says he will be back like re-relected US president Donald Trump.

Yesterday, on the day that Trump was being declared winner of the US presidency  which he lost four years ago, Lusambo was being handed a two-year jail term by the Luanshya magistrates Court for wounding a political opponent during a by-election in Roan Constituency back in 2019.

As Lusambo took a solitary trip to prison without any senior PF officials by his side to offer him support except his NATO forces boys, Lusambo said like Donald Trump has returned to power as America’s 47th President, so will the PF bounce back.

“I am not shaken this is a case that is fabricated and all of us know, so we are very strong and we want to face it. We know that it’s a political case and am not shaken. Trump has come back, PF is coming back we have to be strong this country belongs to all of us,” said Lusambo as he was forced into a waiting Toyota Mark X.

As he was being driven to Luanshya on Monday, Lusambo declared that himself and his party PF will be back on the political scene in 2026, true to his word Lusambo was sent to jail for two years by the Luanshya Magistrates’ Court and will be back in circulation in the said year.

Lusambo was convicted of unlawful wounding in absentia on October 31, 2024, by magistrate Penstone Chiluba who issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

On April 11, 2019, Lusambo alias the Bulldozer, with the help of his panga wielding ‘army’ of PF youths NATO forces troops segmented the face of NDC member Statnely Musukwa during campaigns ahead of the by-election, when he segmented his face.

In order live another day and testify how God had made him a conqueror of Lusambo’s violence, the 58-year old Musukwa had to undergo more excruciating pain to have his sliced face sutured as he was left unidentifiable.

In his judgment magistrate Chiluba said the evidence produced by the State witnesses led to Lusambo as the perpetrator of the violence during campaigns for the by-election , as all the witnesses placed him at the crime scene.

During mitigation this morning Lusambo through his lawyers pleaded with the court to exercise maximum leniency on reasons that, he was a family man with six offspring in the springtime of life, and a wife who depend on him for survival.

He said he has over 10 dependents notable among them  youth activist Tiza Mukuka who depend on him for their survival.

Lusambo said he has a record of public service in the country, as he served as provincial minister for both Copperbelt and Lusaka for five years.

The Bulldozer said he was a lawmaker who represented constituents in Kabushi constituency in Ndola on the Copperbelt, which speaks to his dedication for serving the country.

Lusambo said he was remorseful and had learned his lesson for engaging in violence, as he was being penalized for the second time over the same.

He said he was altruistic as he is sponsoring a football academy of youths aged between 12 and 18, called Chichele in Southern province as an ambassador of good will to keep them away from bad vices.

Lusambo said he is 48 and was still in his prime time therefore he has ample time to development his political career.

He said his political career is in its infancy stage and he desires to become President.

The Bulldozer prayed to the court to exercise maximum leniency insisting that he had a wife and his children were very young.

In handing down his sentence magistrate Chiluba noted that violence during elections in the country was prevalent hence people found guilty cannot go without being corrected.

He said the injuries were fatal and Lusambo needed to be punished with a custodial sentence to serve as a deterrent to would be offenders.

“I hereby sentence you to 24 months imprisonment with hard labor with effect the date of conviction. Leave to appeal is granted within 14 days,” ordered magistrate Chiluba.

Lusambo’s lawyers later applied for bail pending appeal against the two-year sentence.

The State opposed the application saying the Bulldozer was a flight risk who was recently extracted from the ceiling by the police, after he went into hiding to elude arrest.

The defense disputed the submissions by the State saying there was no official statement that Lusambo hid in the ceiling at his Chamba valley house, when law enforcement officers went to effect an arrest, in compliance with a court order.

Magistrate Chiluba declined to admit him to bail on the basis that, the reasons for the bail application were not captivating.

Meanwhile ACC spokesperson Timothy Moono in an interview said, the institution will communicate with authorities at the correctional facility where Lusambo was booked in, to secure his court appearance today before the Economic and Financial Crimes Court where he is scheduled to open defense in a matter he is accused of possessing his Chamba valley house and six incomplete flats suspected to be tainted.

Lusambo also has another pending judgement on Friday November 8, 2024, together with his wife Nancy Manase before the EFCC, in a matter where he  is facing 10 corruption related charges among them; one count of corrupt acquisition of public property, five counts of possessing property suspected to be proceeds of crime, three counts of tax evasion and one count of conspiracy to defraud.

The Edgar Lungu Factor: A Wild Card in the 2026 Zambian Elections.

The Edgar Lungu Factor: A Wild Card in the 2026 Zambian Elections.

The 2026 Zambian elections are still a few years away, but one name keeps popping up in whispers: Edgar Lungu.  The former president, who served from 2015 to 2021, remains a significant figure in Zambian politics, even though he’s no longer in office.  But how much influence will he actually have on the upcoming election? It’s a question that’s impossible to answer with certainty, but here’s a breakdown of the factors at play:

*The Shifting Sands of Zambian Politics*

Zambia’s political landscape is a dynamic beast.  The current government’s performance, the state of the economy, and the rise of new political forces will all shape the 2026 election.  Lungu’s impact will be heavily influenced by these factors.

*Lungu’s Legacy and Popularity*

Lungu’s presidency was marked by both successes and challenges. While he enjoyed considerable popularity during his tenure, the economic hardships Zambia faced under his leadership likely took a toll on his image.  His influence in 2026 will depend on how voters remember his time in office.

*Lungu’s Possible Roles*

Lungu has several potential paths he could take leading up to the 2026 elections:

The Kingmaker:
* He could choose to endorse a specific candidate, potentially swaying their support base and influencing the outcome of the election.
*
* *The Challenger:*
*  Lungu might decide to form  new political party alliances, challenging the existing political landscape and shaking things up.
*
* *The Party Stalwart:*
* He could remain active within the Patriotic Front (PF), influencing the party’s direction and strategy, even if he doesn’t run for office himself.

*The Uncertain Future*

The “Edgar Lungu factor” in the 2026 elections is a wild card.  His influence will hinge on his own political ambitions, the evolving political landscape, and the public’s perception of him.

*Keeping an Eye on the Future*

To get a clearer picture of Lungu’s potential impact, we need to closely monitor:

* *Lungu’s Public Statements:*
*  What he says and does will provide valuable clues about his intentions.
* *The Zambian Political Landscape:*
*  How the political landscape evolves in the years leading up to the election will shape the playing field for all players, including Lungu.
*
* The Rise of New Politcal Parties alliances:
*
* The emergence of new political forces could challenge existing parties and potentially reshape the entire political landscape.

The 2026 Zambian elections are still years away, but the “Edgar Lungu factor” will be a key element to watch.  His potential influence could significantly impact the outcome of the election, making him a figure to keep a close eye on.

PROVIDE PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS TO MITIGATE ENERGY AND DROUGHT CHALLENGES – SCIENTISTS AND RESEARCHERS URGED

6th October, 2024

Ministry of Technology and Science acting Minister Elias Mubanga says science, technology, and innovation are key to explore and define existing energy and drought solutions in the country.

Speaking when he officiated at the 2024 Zambia Science and Technology Conference, in Lusaka, Hon. Mubanga challenged scientists, technologists, and researchers to practically define solutions that will pave way for potential innovative technologies  that could be non – hydro powered – dependant but superceded with new reliable source of energy inventions that will mitigate current energy and drought experienced challenges in the country.

The Minister said and challenged the participants; “The country is in the dark, and Zambia at 60 (years), where have we been in terms of technology and Science?”. Hon Mubanga put an emphasis on practical driven solutions, ” we would want to see, innovations, we want to see practical steps under taken”, as a country there is a need to work towards sustainable solutions.

Mr. Mubanga noted that the unreliable source of energy (hydro power) has resulted in power deficits, in the country, due to climate change factors, like any other (affected country) experiencing energy deficits too hence implicating water security in agriculture,  energy, and affecting the wellbeing of citizens.

He said the conference theme outlines the urgency of challenges that underscores the power of collaborations to sustainable solutions.

Hon. Mubanga urged participants to equally develop solutions from the previous developed concept – body of knowledge that could be tapped in on continuity and eventually create job opportunities and wealth creation for the country especially with partnerships that border on practicability.

And delivering his welcoming remarks, Technology and Science Permanent Secretary Dr. Brilliant Habeenzu, said the conference theme; innovative solutions for a sustainable future, leveraging science, technology, and innovations and strategic partnerships to address energy deficit and drought, reflects on Zambia’s call for challenges and aspirations.

Dr. Habeenzu stated that, the energy shortages and droughts are not just technical concerns but they impact fabric of society, livelihoods, limiting growth, and creating barriers to progress and subsequently preventing change for transformation.

He indicated that, science and innovation are hence the key to overcoming the existing challenges and building a resilience of prosperous Zambia.

He encouraged a team of well informed participants to foster dialogue and exchange knowledge to define solutions.

Dr. Habeenzu said the ministry is dedicated to advancing the agenda and ensuring that critical challenges are addressed in the energy sector, and hence challenging scientists and researchers to be practical in research and renewable energies and create sustainable solutions.

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Counselor Division for Africa Region Development Center,  Mohamad  D. Islam said the theme speaks to the importance of innovations and resonnate well with the WIPO, (a 193 – United Nations Specialized Agency – member countries), that provides services for innovators, creators, and entrepreneurs to progressively penetrate their ideas onto the market and improve the lives everywhere.

Mr. Muhammad said WIPO with the support of the Zambian government, on long drawn out partnerships with PACRA and NSTC, has implemented the project dubbed IP4,  intellectual property for young youth innovation in Zambia, to facilitate innovations with a focus to help the young innovators, inventors, and researchers develop complete – technology – prototype of applicable intellectual property (IP) solutions that lead to obtaining ownership innovation.

He said the IP plays a critical role for youth empowerment.

And outlining an indepth objectivity of the conference, National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) chairperson professor Sody Munsaka said the energy and drought intensified by climate change, impacting society, demand for innovative solutions and a strong partnership to address with a call to action in defining solutions, through such a platform, by harnessing knowledge, partnerships, and ingenuity.

Professor Munsaka disclosed that on its collaboration fronts, NSTC selected and supported twelve young innovators alongside the support of PACRA and WIPO on the intellectual property for young youth innovation in Zambia project, the young – minds advances Zambia’s future on a viable platform that is nurturing talent and supporting intellectual property generation and protection.

He said, the conference is also exhibiting innovations of various technologies with the potential to impact communities and the economy, hence clearly demonstrating the power of innovations to drive sustainable development in providing practical solutions that are adaptable to society unique needs.

The American Story; Why It won’t Be Replicated in Zambia

The American Story; Why It won’t Be Replicated in Zambia

Donald J Trump is the new old President of the US. He is both the 45th and 47th president of the great nation of America after bouncing back to the position he lost to the Democrats’ Joe Biden in 2020.

Back home, the news of Trump’s win has been received with jubilation for those who wish the same fate for Zambia come 2026. A closer look at the run to this year’s elections in the USA though, shows distinctions and a stark reminder that things are not the same, I will highlight the three reasons why.

1..The UPND Won’t Change The Winning Team

President Trump’s win has been aided by the fact that the ruling Democrats changed the winning team at the 11th hour. While the decision seemed the right one, the timing was certainly not as the Democrats ended up with very little time to campaign, giving Trump a huge boost. On the other hand, it is very unlikely that the UPND will change their presidential candidate in Hakainde Hichilema at the very last minute, especially given his record so far.

2.. Eligibility
If you did probability anywhere along your school radder, then you know that the chances of President Lungu even contesting the elections in 2026 are at ½ and am being generous. This is because there is a strong case on his eligibility to contest future elections and if the outcome of the December 10 verdict doesn’t go in his favor, then the dreams of Alebwelelapo will die even before we reach the year of elections.

3.. Sponsoring Party
While Donald Trump was a clear and sponsored candidate for the radical republicans, former President Edgar Lungu finds himself in a position where he doesn’t even have a political party to sponsor his candidature should he win the eligibility case.  This may give him less time to campaign under any party that opts to adopt him. Political parties are just as important as political candidates anywhere, in Zambia at the moment, the odds are way higher for those who are neither red nor green.

The above three factors and many others not highlighted are a caution to those celebrating President Trump’s comeback with the lense of what they hope to happen in Zambia in 2026. The factors are different.

My appeal has good prospects of success – Mrs Kampyongo

My appeal has good prospects of success – Mrs Kampyongo

In her second attempt at bail, Wanziya Chirwa, wife of former Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo has insisted that her appeal has good prospects of success.

Chirwa has renewed her bail application pending appeal before the Economic  and Financial Crimes Court (High Court division).

In an Affidavit in support of summons for admission to bail pending appeal Chirwa who is currently remanded at Lusaka Central Correctional Facility stated that upon filing the notice of intention to appeal, she applied for bail pending appeal before the trial magistrate on September 30, 2024 and on October 29 the trial magistrate dismissed her application.

She said her appeal has good prospects of success, as demonstrated by the grounds of appeal outlined in the notice of appeal.

“The offense for which I was convicted is bailable and that if I am not granted bail, it is likely that I will have served a substantial portion of the sentence by the time my appeal is heard,”she said.

“If granted bail I will raise traceable sureties and attend to court whenever required.”

Chirwa who was jailed in five counts for possessing property suspected to be proceeds of crime, wants to challenge her conviction and sentencing on eight grounds.

She argues that court below erred in law and fact when it convicted her on five counts of possession of property reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime in the absence of a factual basis upon which the State anchored it’s reasonable suspicion.

She said principal resident magistrate Sylvia Munyinya erred in law and in fact by relying on an erroneous calculation of her purported assets totaling K23,000,000 and drawing a conclusion that her known legitimate income had a surplus of K20,000,000.

“The court below erred in law and fact by ignoring the fact that there was gross dereliction of duty on the part of the investigation officers in failing to investigate explanations given to them by the convict during their investigations,” Chirwa said.

“The court erred in law and fact by relying on what it termed as a warn and caution statement in isolation of all relevant evidence in the case.”

She said the lower court erred in law and fact when it discounted the evidence of the surveyor without any comparative basis for rejecting his evidence.

The convict said the court below erred in law and fact when it shifted the burden of proof to her in the absence of a factual basis for the reasonable suspicion.

Chirwa said the court below erred in law and fact by not making an adverse finding considering that two State witnesses were evasive in their testimonies.

“The court erred in law and fact when it sentenced me to three years simple imprisonment against the weight of the evide adduced,”said Chirwa.

GBM has not proved that his medical condition cannot be treated in Zambia – State

GBM has not proved that his medical condition cannot be treated in Zambia – State

THE state has opposed the application by former minister of defense Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba to be admitted to bail on reasons that; he has to travel to South Africa for medical care because his medication is ineffective which has resulted into the swelling of his thighs and legs.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1B4XR6qF7L/?mibextid=oFDknk

It says Mwamba has not proved that the country’s highest referral hospital UTH where inmates are referred or any other private hospital of his choice in Zambia will be unable to deal with his condition and cause it to deteriorate.

Mwamba renewed his bail application in the Economic and Financial Crimes Court (High Court Division) saying his thighs and legs are swollen and needs urgent medical care in South Africa.

This was after magistrate Stanford Ngobola declined to admit Mwamba to bail, on reasons that his appeal against his conviction had no prospects of success.

He said ill health is not a sufficient reason to warrant him to grant Mwamba bail pending appeal.

According to an affidavit in opposition to affidavit in support of summons for renewal admission to bail pending appeal filed in the Economic and Financial Crimes Court (High Court division), principal State advocate Angelica Mwanza said Mwamba cannot merely speculate that his condition cannot be treated in Zambia.

“The applicant has not demonstrated that his ill health is an exceptional circumstance warranting this court’s discretion to admit him to bail pending the hearing of his appeal,” she stated.

She said the mere fact that his record of appeal is voluminous does not determine duration within which his appeal against his five year conviction on corruption-related charges can be determined.

“The applicant will not have served a substantial part of his sentence since the EFCC is a fast track court which disposes off matters quickly,”Mwanza said.

She argued that the according to the EFCC rules, matters are determined within five months.

Mwanza said the notice of appeal having been filed on October 10, 2024, the period of five  months has already started running.

She said a perusal of the grounds filed for the intended appeal do not show that there is a likelihood of the appeal succeeding.

“If the application sought is granted, the likelihood of the State being prejudiced in the effective prosecution of this matter is greater than that of the convict,”said Mwanza.

“The applicant has not demonstrated any exceptional circumstances whatsoever,I beseech this court not to grant bail pending appeal.”

When the matter came up for bail hearing yesterday in chambers, the Court  reserved ruling for November 15.

On October 9, 2024 Mwamba was jailed for five years on eight counts of conflict of interest, when he alllowed his companies to engage in business with the ministry

He was also jailed three years in four counts of possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime, and fined K50, 000 for money laundering.

MUMBI PHIRI GOES FOR DR. KASEBA: “Kaseba is a disgrace”

0

MUMBI PHIRI GOES FOR DR. KASEBA

…..Kaseba is a disgrace, charges Mumbi Phiri, she never believed in the political prowess of her husband…

By Angela Muchinshi,

4th November 2024

CHRISTINE Kaseba would laugh at us when we wore PF Chitenges with Sata’s portrait, saying we were wearing another man’s face on our buttocks, says former PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri.

Phiri further says the former first lady should not worry about PF not being on the ballot in 2026, as the party is already gone, which is why they have a plan B.

Dr Kaseba recently warned that the PF would not be on the ballot in 2026 if they failed to resolve their internal wrangles. She added that Sata would be disappointed with the current status of the party he worked hard to form and grow.

Commenting on this in an interview, Thursday, Phiri charged that Dr Kaseba was a disgrace to womanhood and added that Sata would be disappointed with her for aspiring to take over his party shortly after his death.

“Sata would be disappointed with her because when Sata died, he didn’t expect the wife to immediately start crying to become a president of a party that she didn’t belong to. It was the husband who was PF. Sometimes I remember when she saw us wearing chitenge with her husband’s portrait she even used to laugh at us that we were wearing the face of another man on our buttocks. I don’t know what she’s saying. Ask her where did she suffer? Because as far as I know she wasn’t a member. It’s sad. Sata was blunt, if he was alive and heard that woman say that, I’m sure he would have reminded her of what she was telling women who were wearing the chitenge,” Phiri said.

“And that’s a lesson to all you young people that marry properly. You’re a journalist, you marry a kamalasha (charcoal burner) you don’t know that when you’re sleeping your husband is admiring your job. It’s a lesson to you young people, choose properly. Which normal person can have a spouse die today and tomorrow they start aspiring for their position? In Zambia we have only seen two, herself and the late Mwanawasa, they are a disgrace to womanhood. Our husbands now even look at us with a different eye because they really set a bad example. So the husband cannot be disappointed with any PF member except herself”.

Phiri said with or without PF on the ballot, President Hakainde Hichilema would go in 2026.

“I’ve been saying when Miles Sampa started claiming that it’s his uncle’s party, from what I know Miles Sampa and Sata are not related in any way, but he started claiming that it’s his uncle’s party and he wants to take it. I said let Miles Sampa take his perceived uncle’s party, let’s get something else and that’s where I stand. As Mumbi Phiri I know that there’s no PF, Miles took the perceived uncle’s party and I’m not bothered because I know there’s plan B. Kaseba doesn’t know what she’s talking about. With or without PF the fact is HH is going. Whether ‘Nevers Mumba shall be saved’ endorses HH, UPND is going. To me PF is long gone,” Phiri said.

“And wasn’t she with the president of the PF at the cathedral? Both of them were there. Miles Sampa who has papers, Chabinga who President Hakainde has put. So how can she say that? Us we have plan B so she shouldn’t worry about us. She should just leave us. Maybe she can negotiate with those two, if she wants to make sure that PF will be on the ballot, since they are just changing, she should get very close to President Hakainde Hichilema, she might be given and her wish will be fulfilled to become president of the PF”.

Phiri also wondered why the Sata family were now suddenly commenting on the PF wrangles.

“I’ve been vindicated now by her comment because I’ve been saying those who claim to be Sata’s relatives were quiet. Did you see Kaseba who’s talking now speaking when those PF wrangles started? I don’t know what she’s talking about. But whatever the case, the fact is UPND is going out whether the President has got glue on the seat, he’s going. He will go with that chair, a new one will be made. Wasn’t Mulenga Sata another person who was fighting for the father’s position? He also wanted to be president. That family is very questionable, the mother was on the left, the son on the right, the in-laws in front and the cousins at the back,” said Phiri.

“Unless they show me that when Sata was making that party there was somewhere he wrote that it belonged to the relatives. Can you have energy, your father is dead before he’s even buried you are campaigning, and every Zambian saw the behaviour of Mulenga Sata. A clan which has no tradition is dead, like the Sata’s clan, they are dead because they don’t know their protocol. It is the nephews and the nieces like Sylvia Chalikosa who have a say over the uncle. Where have you ever seen a widow speaking on behalf of the family? Is she related to Mr Sata? Clear lack of culture. If Sylvia Chalikosa was the one speaking I could have seen sense, not all those, those are just uncultured fellows”.

THE PEOPLE V FRED M’MEMBE & DANIEL MUMBA 13/05/2024

For A1: Chiwala, T. Munalula, S. Mwila, L.C. Lemba, N. Siwila

MUNALULA––
What happened first your visit to kamalamba or your visit to the mother’s shelter? The visit to the mother’s shelter.

Do you remember telling court that you had delivered food to the kamalamba camp Yes I remember

If at all you came to this place, did you come with any food? Yes

I put it to you that on the material day, you never spoke to Mr. Fred M’membe? I spoke to him

Has someone ever pointed a gun at you Yes

So you’re familiar with guns I know a gun when I see one but I’ve never used it before

But people have pointed guns at you before

I see guns from officers I know what it looks like

What is the most logical thing when a person fires a gun Then they’re warning you

Will a normal man follow a gun when they are being warned I would

Would a normal human being do that Yes they would

Between the alleged gun that was pointed at you, and someone walking behind you, which one of the two is life threatening? The person who’s coming behind whose actions I can’t see

Name: Emmanuel Simposya Age: 28 Occupation: Driver Address: Isoka

Narrate the events of 8th April, 2023

We were in Serenje on the 8th of April, it was a Saturday. There was a by-election so on Saturday it was our day to take food to the Ndabala and Mililima camps. When we took the food to the camps, we went to the last camp near Ndabala whose name I’ve forgotten.

We arrived at past 16:00 and we found a mother crying and we were told that she was calling us. When she came to the vehicle she talked to our senior man and said that the Socialist Party had been there. And she said that she had been beaten and asked why she had left the Socialist Party to join the UPND.

We asked her why she had been beaten and she said she had been given money and bicycle but she joined the UPND and they wanted the merchandise back. She said the Socialist Party had beaten her. We told her that after taking food to Malamba we’d tell the Minister and that there would be people who would know what to do about it.

Who were you with? It was I, Victor, Chipo Manchisi, Haggai and Charity. What followed after you said you’d tell the authorities We proceeded and started taking food and mealie meal to Malamba. Before we reached the Mother’s shelter we saw a lot of people that had blocked the way. When we got closer, the driver parked.

Since I was seated at the top of the vehicle, I was the first one to disembark. One leg was inside the vehicle and the top part of my body was holding the rails. I then started towards where the President of the Party Mr. M’Membe was. When I started approaching, he also started walking towards me. Before I reached, the President fired the first warning shot in the air, as well as the second. By the time he was firing the third, we had met. (Distance estimated at 2 meters) Then he said “You’re bold/courageous, I’m shooting warning shots and you’re still approaching.” I said that I was bold because I didn’t know what was going on.
I then told him that our Party doesn’t allow him to do what he was doing and that the Ministers that had come with us would also disagree. While I was talking to him, we were standing near his vehicle, which was behind him. The vehicle had tinted glass so I could see whatever was happening behind us and I saw President M’Membe’s driver approaching from behind. He wasn’t approaching us in a friendly manner so when I tried to look behind, President M’Membe pointed the gun at me. Then I heard a gun shot. (Demonstrated that he
turned to the right) I was grazed at the ear. I felt a burning sensation in my ear. When I was about to bend, the person coming behind me held me. They didn’t hold me with the intention to help me. He slapped me. Then I fell to the ground. Then he stepped on my chest.

Who stepped on you?

The President’s Driver. Then the President stepped on my legs and then his driver pulled out a curved knife and he wanted to stab me in the stomach but I still had some strength in me and I was able to see what was happening. So I tried to hold his hand but I missed so I was stabbed in my hand. While the President was stepping on my legs, his cadres came and started hitting me. Some had sticks, others had black axes, tasers and pepper spray. They had beaten me badly until I got tired and then I stopped feeling and hearing what was happening. From there I came to at Serenje Hospital but I don’t know how I got there. While I was being treated at Serenje Hospital I couldn’t think straight. I spent a night there and woke up the following afternoon.

Haggai then brought my medical report but I was still in pain. I had a headache from the gunshot wound and my right leg was beaten badly. I was then transferred to Kabwe but I was still in pain and I was thinking I was going to die. From Kabwe, I came to at UTH but I don’t know how I got there. I have a statement after I left UTH.

You talked about Haggai giving you the medical report, what happened?

It was just given to me and I knew that it was mine because my name was written on it

What were you doing at the material scene?

We were passing through

What was the propose of being there? We took food there

INVESTIGATIVE REPORT ON EMMANUEL J.J. BANDA AND ACK LOGISTICS: UNCOVERING the ACK CARTEL’S INFLUENCE IN ZAMBIA

Summary

This report delves into the activities surrounding Emmanuel J.J. Banda, a fugitive Member of Parliament, and his association with Ackson Tembo, the owner of ACK Logistics. Together, they allegedly operate a cartel known as the ACK Cartel, which has reportedly infiltrated youth structures and judicial systems within Zambia. The following points summarize key findings related to their operations, influence, and political connections.

Key Findings

1. Association with ACK Logistics and Alleged Cartel Activities:
Emmanuel J.J. Banda is identified as a key figure in the ACK Cartel, working alongside Ackson Tembo of ACK Logistics. This cartel is accused of exerting significant influence over the judicial and police systems, allegedly leading to the firing of Commissioner Bonny Kapeso and the transfer of other high-ranking officials.

2. Political Connections and Family Ties:
Ackson Tembo is reported to be the nephew of Esther Lungu, former First Lady, and a business associate of Tasila Lungu, daughter of former President Edgar Lungu.
These connections reportedly enable Banda and Tembo to leverage political influence, allowing them to evade legal repercussions and maintain control over various government structures.

3. Role in Banda’s Escape and Ongoing Legal Immunity:
The report details how Ackson Tembo allegedly facilitated J.J. Banda’s escape from police custody in 2020. It is suggested that similar tactics are currently employed to evade arrest, with both Banda and Tembo enjoying a status of impunity within the UPND government.

4. Manipulation of Judicial Outcomes:
Evidence suggests that the ACK Cartel has been able to secure selective acquittals for its members, with references to Borniface Ngalasa, their personal lawyer, who now serves as a managing partner at Celine Nair & Company. Ngalasa is described as instrumental in providing judicial information that aids in securing favorable outcomes for Banda and Tembo.

5. Involvement in Mukula Trade and Financial Exploitation:
The cartel is also linked to illicit activities in the Mukula tree trade, with contracts allegedly being exploited to generate substantial profits. These funds are reportedly funneled into political campaigns, positioning either Banda or Tasila Lungu for future presidential ambitions.

6. Suppression of Evidence and Media Manipulation:
Allegations include the removal of incriminating videos from social media platforms that document incidents involving Banda and Tembo, suggesting efforts to manipulate public perception and eliminate evidence of wrongdoing.

Conclusion

The findings outlined in this report highlight the significant and concerning influence of Emmanuel J.J. Banda and Ackson Tembo through the ACK Cartel. Their alleged operations within Zambia’s judicial system, combined with robust political connections, raise serious questions about governance and accountability. Continued scrutiny is essential to uncover the full extent of their activities and to uphold the integrity of public institutions.

Equatorial Guinea vice-president warns against office s333x after viral Baltasar Ebang videos

Civil servants caught having sex in their offices will face “severe measures”, the vice-president of Equatorial Guinea has warned after hundreds of allegedly pornographic videos were leaked to the public.

The videos reportedly involve high-ranking civil servant Baltasar Ebang Engonga having sex with various women – including the wives of prominent officials – in his office.

Mr Engonga is head of the country’s National Financial Investigation Agency and also a relative of the country’s president.

The BBC has asked him for comment.

On his Facebook page, Mr Engonga has posted that he is feeling sad, along with a photo of him with a woman and children captioned: “Family is everything”.

Vice-President Teodoro Obiang Mangue said any officials found engaging in sex acts at work would be suspended as this was a “flagrant violation of the code of conduct”.

He has also ordered the installation of surveillance cameras in courts and ministries to combat “indecent and illicit acts”.

A statement from the vice-president’s office said the decision had been taken in the wake of the widely circulated videos which had “denigrated the image of the country”.

It added that he had recommended opening an investigation.

The videos in question were leaked after Mr Engonga was arrested on separate corruption charges, state television TVGE said.

Last week, Vice-President Obiang said “pornographic videos” had been “flooding” social media and ordered telecoms companies to curb the spread.

Since then, the flow of internet traffic – particularly the downloading of images – has been severely disrupted in the country, people in Equatorial Guinea told the AFP news agency.

As head of the National Financial Investigation Agency, Mr Engonga works on tackling financial crimes such as money laundering.

Following the furore over the videos, Equatorial Guinea’s chief prosecutor Anatolio Nzang Nguema told state TV that if Mr Engonga was found to have been “infected with a sexually transmitted disease” he would be prosecuted for an offence against “public health”.

He is reportedly nicknamed “Bello” – Spanish for beautiful – on account of his good looks.

Baltasar Ebang Engonga –  The Most Notorious Sexually Scandalous Man of the Century

Baltasar Ebang Engonga –  The Most Notorious Sexually Scandalous Man of the Century
A musing by Rev Walter Mwambazi

When I first heard the name, I wondered who he was. And when I saw his picture, he looked like an unassuming “nerdy” kind of “respectable” type who would not be capable of what he is accused of

Let me give you an idea. He is the head of Equitorial Guinea’s Financial Crimes Investigations Authority. He is a senior corporate type with connections to the elite of that society.

What made this man become an overnight viral sensation and literally broke the internet is his infamous sex tapes to the whopping total of over 400, numbers that would make a rabbit blush and be the envy of most porn stars. Heck, this man’s numbers put to shame many porn site accounts! 😱

But i bet that’s nothing compared to what porn stars do in one good season not so? And it would not be an issue had it not been who exactly is on those videos.

That’s what really shocked me. And I consider myself fairly exposed and have seen it all, but was I wrong.

I have never seen such in my life.

Listen to the list of who the women actually are. These are bourgeois types in the elite circles. It includes his own pastor’s brother’s wife, a number of ministers in governments wives, senior government agency head’s wives, bodyguard’s wife, colleagues in his offic, his own brother’s wife and countless other persons.

And what makes this scary is that before writing this, I had to carry out the unpleasant fact checking duty of watching some of the videos.

Here is my take against what many think

👉🏾 This was consensual sex (the women agreed and participated actively)
👉🏾  These women are not tramps or prostitutes as can be seen by their disposition
👉🏾 These women actually seemed to enjoy the sessions
👉🏾 These women were very aware of being filmed and some actively looked into the camera
👉🏾 These are married women
👉🏾 And this has absolutely nothing to do with being paid (money) – this was not about money at all (some of the women probably had a higher status financially than him)

What makes this worse is that as a developing story we now learn that some of the children of the wives he bonked in the videos are actually his own and not the husbands.

This man and his videos have just effectively turned his country upside down. It certainly will go into the history books as most notorious sexual scandal in history.

I note some are comparing him to Diddy. I think this man is at another level and I’ll tell you why.

👉🏾 He isn’t a celebrity
👉🏾 He isn’t even an influencer

The above two have since changed following the expose of all the sex tapes.

👉🏾 He lured perfectly married and seemingly high class elites to his despicable shenanigans which included actively filming their sexual acts

This last point for me is what makes this record breaking. I mean, I felt horrible imagining who those women are. Can you imagine the shame that is now the reality for many of these ladies?

I mean, I am aware that many wives carry out secret affairs actively even today. I am certain there is a lodge in my city right now where some executives are exercising horizontally and are both “happily married” with spouses 100 oblivious to their shenanigans.

Granted!

But to film it and keep the stuff with the knowledge of both parties? That’s a whole other level of depravity.

And then their is the matter of the pastor’s wife! As we would say in my kantri “njebele gaaaaad!”

What a woman! Pastor’s wife and you even agree to be filmed in porn style levels! What made this woman do such a deplorable and shameful deed?

Can you imagine the horror for all church members to learn your amai busa (pastors wife) is a porn star all over the internet? And what about the poor pastor? As far as I can think, this is humiliation at a whole other level. This is being “simped” on steroids! What about their children? I cannot even imagine.

I would suggest the pastor and his entire family surrender the church, leave the country and go somewhere where nobody knows them and start their lives all over again.

So shocking.

My Conclusion

When a case like this comes into the public domain, just know that there are at least ten others going on right now behind closed doors.

But what is really intriguing is, why? Why would this go on? Why would seemingly respectable women of all walks of life agree to be humiliated in such a manner?

My take?

You won’t like what I am about to say, but someone has to say it. Here goes

✍🏾 Spells and charms.
This man has special charm. He was able to not only charm the ladies, but lure them by taking advantage of whatever they lacked in their marriages or relationships.

✍🏾 Deep Lust (Fantasies)
I don’t know what it is precisely but you can tell by watching those women that this man got those ladies to get “their freak on”. He did to them what they secretly longed and lusted for. He tapped into a deep part of these ladies and like the enchanter he is, brought out the demons in these ladies.

How else can one explain how perfectly and seemingly “sane” ladies would agree to such degradation by a man who isn’t even their husband? Filming sexual encounters between married couples is one thing, but with someone you are actively cheating with? That’s a whole other level!

✍🏾 Sorcery
That this man used charms for both luring the “victims” (turned into nymphos) and getting them to consent to being filmed is without doubt the case.

Once he “tapped” into the noted items above, it was a foregone conclusion. I postulate that filming was done much later, not at the beginning because he had to get then to agree. And no decent lady would agree to being filmed at the first encounter no matter how much of a free spirit or community project they are.

It is just not in our African culture. So what we watched in those videos are sexual encounters where the two were already very comfortable with regular sex. That’s what it is.

✍🏾 Hyperphiliac
This man is precisely that. It is a male version of a nymphomaniac. A nymphomaniac is a woman with an insatiable lust for sex and so never can get enough and will actively seek it as often as possible.

This man is the male equivalent. He must have an insatiable appetite for sex and obviously found ways to acquire charms to satiate this terrible lust in his groins!

What’s the Lesson?

So the conclusion of the matter is that we ought to always walk in the spirit that we may not fulfil the desires of our flesh. Let no one cheat you, the body never gets saved. It’s a work in progress that must be subdued daily. We must die daily, deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him.

That pastor’s wife? It could be any of us if we think we stand. Worse still, with the hyper grace teaching that is so popular today, many of my colleagues (and their wives) are actively indulging in adulterous affairs as we speak.

May God grant you this story as a warning.

Here is a quote from scripture as a sober reminder that was spoken against the terrible sin King David committed.

2 Samuel 12:11-12 NIV
[11] “This is what the Lord says: ‘Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity on you. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will sleep with your wives in broad daylight. [12] You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.’ ”

Today this scripture is being fulfilled for many clergy and such persons who continue to defy God and do such evil!

You stand warned! ⚠️

Ramaphosa, DA secret deal clinched before elections

The outspoken SACP general secretary, Solly Mapaila, says he stumbled upon credible intelligence way before the May 29 elections, exposing that the ANC secretly had a predetermined agenda to go into bed with the DA.

Mapaila said during a wide-ranging interview with Sunday World Engage last week that he subsequently warned the SACP central committee, at least two months before the polls, about the “coalition secret talks” between the ANC and DA.

The information forms the basis of the SACP’s rejection of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s government of national unity (GNU).

The warning about the “secret talks” is recorded in Mapaila’s handwritten notepad, which we have seen, on his notes of his input to the SACP central committee meeting on March 25.

Neo-liberal economic policy

In the notes, Mapaila told his SACP colleagues that the party’s alliance partner, the ANC, was talking with the DA secretly with a view to formulating a coalition government to deeply entrench the neo-liberal economic policy trajectory.

Mapaila warned on March 25: “Whatever I said, I will not go back, but I said: this has exposed South African liberals who have also sought to remove the liberation movement from political power after they used it to continue their profiteering on the carcass of the dying working class, reeling from the effects of failing new liberalism and capitalism in general.

“These challenges are now affecting the movement that is our liberation movement, seeking to keep political power.

“The secret talks between the ANC and the DA are nothing about our people but to save face for the ANC as it guarantees a neoliberal economic trajectory and profitability of capital while the DA has managed to get the support of the European counterparts and the Americans to collate a formidable opposition to the ANC, with both now uniting against the ANC.”

Coalition set-up was predetermined

It was for this reason that the SACP refused to be “hoodwinked” into the narrative that the “coalition between the ANC and DA” was also conceived after the embarrassing election outcomes for the party of OR (Oliver Reginald) Tambo.

In Mapaila’s view, the whole coalition set-up was predetermined; hence, the SACP’s attempts to discourage the ANC from going into bed with the DA were rejected.

The SACP, Mapaila went on, will never change its stance that the ANC took a “sellout position” by choosing the DA over other “better options” such as the EFF.

“The GNU establishment was a political choice of the ANC; it was an ideological choice; it was not forced, so the ANC had no obligation to go on with this GNU concept in the manner that it did,” said Mapaila.

“In any case, it was taken as a decision from where we stand to hoodwink the working people to hide the actual coalition between the ANC and the DA.

“Therefore, there is no GNU; if you like, there is a coalition between the ANC and the DA.

“And this matter is not much from our own observations; it is a confirmation by Miss Hellen Zille of the DA, who addressed the Fredrick Norman Foundation, and, in that foundation, she said so, and the ANC has never refuted this in public to her, that there is a coalition between the ANC and the DA.”

Mapaila said the ANC-DA coalition was preplanned, and anyone who pointed it out, as he did, was being dealt with harshly.

“So, this is premeditated; it is preplanned. That is why later in the process of these negotiations going on we saw the statement of intent that we were not part of draughting as the alliance.

“It was draughted by the ANC. Anyone who says it was not premeditated has himself been hoodwinked by the process. They do not know what has been happening.”

Elite pact of the liberal forces

He charged that the GNU was an elite pact of the “liberal forces” within the ANC and the DA that was formulated without proper consultation within the ANC-led tripartite alliance and the branches at large.

It was disheartening, said Mapaila, to see “ANC taking charge of this particular process of minimisation of our historic struggle against colonialism, which is against imperialism, British, American, and European domination as a whole”.

The SACP was particularly aggrieved that the ANC had effectively become the puppet of the DA in the GNU, where the latter appears to enjoy more power than it deserves.

“At the same time, we need leadership with guts, and I don’t think we have at the moment that we cannot subject a 20% party [DA] to behave as if it has got 80% and a party with 40% [ANC] behaving like it has got 20%.

“This is shocking, and of course, no justification whatsoever can make us reconsider our position until the ANC recognises the strategic error it has just committed.”

Trump’s would-be assassin Ryan Routh predicts ‘civil war’ if former president wins election

0

The man accused of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump at his Florida golf course has predicted a ‘civil war’ if the Republican nominee wins the presidential election.

In a letter to the Palm Beach Post from his federal prison cell, Ryan Routh, 58, warned that a second Trump term could be ‘the end of democracy and the beginnings of a civil war.’

He also claimed that Trump ‘will not let go of power if we all give it to him’ in the letter he signed as ‘Trump Alleged Shooter Ryan W. Routh.’

Routh did not discuss his attempt to assassinate the former president in the letter, but instead implored Palm Beach, Florida residents not to vote for Trump.

‘Will Palm Beach County hand the keys to our nation to the Trumps for the next century or more? How does Palm Beach view its neighbor?’ he asked readers.

‘Palm Beach should be leading the way and guiding our country hopefully to choose democracy over a dictator,’ Routh continued.

‘I hope that you will respect your leadership role and push your state and country to maintain our American way of life.

‘Please help.’

The letter came just about two weeks after prosecutors warned that Routh may try to contact the media.

But the public defenders assigned to represent Routh have challenged their concerns about Routh’s ability to sway public opinion through the media.

‘It is the government that has been disseminating information to influence the public’s perception of this case,’ the lawyers argued in a court filing obtained by the Palm Beach Post.

‘Public statements have been made only by the Government, including the DOJ, FBI and Secret Service.’

Federal prosecutors have said Routh – once a Trump supporter himself – was caught pointing the barrel of a rifle through the bushes near Trump International Golf Club while the former president was on the green on September 15.

He was allegedly positioned directly in the line of sight of the sixth hole green while Trump was playing on the fifth hole.

Secret Service agents immediately hustled him off the course when they heard the shots fired, and a witness soon saw Routh run across Summit Boulevard toward a black Nissan Xterra parked nearby.

Donald Trump
The witness took photographs of the Nissan Xterra and wrote down all but the last digit of the license plate number. Using that information, local law enforcement was able to find the vehicle and arrest Routh.

In the vehicle, law enforcement found six cellphones, one of which ‘contained a Google search of how to travel from Palm Beach County to Mexico.’

Also in the vehicle were 12 pairs of gloves, a Hawaiian driver’s license in Routh’s name and a list of Trump’s public appearances for August, September, and October.

Routh is now facing three firearm charges, an attempted assassination charge and an assaulting a federal officer charge.

He has pleaded not guilty, and is set to face trial in February.

Routh could face a maximum sentence of life in prison if a jury finds him guilty of all charges.

Nigerian politician Alex Ikwechegh has caused outrage after he was caught on video slapping and verbally abusing a taxi driver delivering food to his house.

“Do you know who I am?… I can make you disappear in this whole country, and nothing will happen,” Ikwechegh was heard saying in the video that went viral.

The altercation apparently started after the driver asked Ikwechegh to go outside to collect the food, rather than him taking it inside.

Shocked Nigerians shared the clip widely, forcing Ikwechegh, a member of the opposition All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party who represents the south-eastern town of Aba in the House of Representatives, to issue a formal apology – a stark contrast to his arrogant and intimidating tone in the video.

Unfortunately, it is common in Nigeria for officials and other “big men” to use their power to intimidate ordinary citizens with the familiar phrase: “Do you know who I am?” – a reminder of the untouchable status they believe they hold.

Politicians, including many MPs, often also intimidate the public by travelling in large convoys, with police escorts and blaring sirens.

Their convoys are given priority over regular traffic, with security officers sometimes reacting aggressively towards anyone who fails to make way for them.

But this latest case is especially disappointing because Ikwechegh, at 42, is part of a younger generation of politicians.

The “Not Too Young to Run” campaign was started a few years ago by civil society organisations to encourage more young people to become involved in Nigerian politics.

With 70% of the country’s population under 35, the initiative aimed to lower the age limits for running for office, allowing younger Nigerians to bring new ideas and a fresh approach to leadership.

It succeeded in 2018, reducing the minimum age requirements for various offices and raising the number of young candidates from 6% to 27% in just one year.

The age of running for the House of Representatives – the lower chamber of parliament – was reduced from 30 to 25, the Senate and governorship from 35 to 30, and president from 40 to 30.

Since Nigeria’s median age is only 18, many hoped younger leaders would break the old patterns of oppression and entitlement.

But Ikwechegh’s actions exhibit some of the same old behaviours that many young Nigerians had hoped would be left behind.

Sadly, his case isn’t unique. Two years ago, Nigeria’s then-youngest senator, Elisha Abbo, who was 41 at the time, was filmed slapping a shop assistant after accusing her of “insulting” him.

He threatened her with arrest, and even called over a police officer to carry it out.

The incident was caught on CCTV and eventually led to Abbo, who is no longer a senator after losing elections last year, apologising. But it exposed just how deeply rooted this culture of abuse of power is.

All this has left many Nigerians wondering if younger leaders are falling into the same traps as the older generation.

The situation takes me back to my boarding school days, where senior students regularly bullied juniors.

As juniors, my classmates and I would eagerly talk about what we’d do once it was our turn to be seniors, picturing the punishments we’d hand down to those younger than us.

It felt like a right, something to look forward to – a small comfort amid the hardships of being a junior – that someday, we would be the ones with the power, not the ones on the receiving end.

But by the time we made it to senior year, the school introduced new rules against bullying, and we felt robbed.

We had waited our turn, and now that right was being taken from us. The school stuck with its new rules although many seniors still found ways to circumvent them.

It feels like this same cycle is playing out on a national level.

When a 42-year-old politician, active on social media, can slap a taxi driver – three times – on camera without a second thought, it forces us to wonder if the younger generation of politicians are simply waiting to inherit, rather than break, the cycle of privilege, whether they truly want a fresh start or are just waiting for their turn to wield power without any restraint.

Nigeria’s House of Representatives has referred Ikwechegh to its Ethics and Privileges Committee after he was accused of bringing it into disrepute.

He has also been arraigned in court on charges of “threats, assaults, and abuse of public office”.

His behaviour is a sobering reminder that entitlement and impunity may be more deeply embedded in Nigerian culture than generational change alone can address.

Equatorial Guinea restricts citizens from downloading and sharing images of Engoga using whatsapp amid s3x scandal

0

Equatorial Guinea’s government has restricted its citizens from downloading and sharing multimedia files using mobile data on WhatsApp.

This decision from the country’s government was shared in new guidelines to telecommunications operators to restrict access to inappropriate content after the country’s Director General, National Financial Investigation Agency, Baltasar Engonga, was enmeshed in a s3x scandal involving the wives of notable people.

The scandal emerged in the course of a fraud investigation against the 54-year-old which resulted in the search of his house and office on impromptu notice by ANIF officials who came across several CDs containing over 400 videos that later revealed his sexcapades with different married women.

The s3x videos include encounters with high-profile individuals, such as his brother’s wife, his cousin, the sister of the President of Equatorial Guinea, the Director General of Police’s wife, and about 20 of the country’s ministers’ wives, among others.

The footages, discovered in his office, has since been leaked online, causing a media uproar.

On Tuesday, November 5, Guinean news platform, Ahora EG, reported that the citizens have been lamenting their inability to share photos, videos, and audio when using a mobile data connection, leading users to rely exclusively on WiFi networks to share such content.

The platform quoted a source as saying, “Should an entire country pay for the actions of a few? The likely decision to restrict access to essential communication functions seems disproportionate and punitive, affecting thousands of users of these platforms who, in addition to serving them for entertainment, also use them for their work and/or educational activities.

“In a world where digitalisation is becoming more and more important, should we shut down our platforms and paralyse our activities due to the actions of a few? Currently, users are forced to rely exclusively on WiFi connections, which not only limits their ability to communicate but also interferes with their daily activities.

“This situation has generated a heated debate among the population, where many believe that the measure seems to be more focused on controlling than facilitating communication,” the report added.

Ahora EG also quoted another source saying, “Is it really fair that everyone should suffer the consequences of the actions of a few? The authorities have not yet provided any explanation for the reasons behind this restriction, as well as the duration of the same. At a time when information and communication are more vital than ever, the lack of transparency only aggravates citizens’ concerns.”

Republicans seize control of senate

0

In a significant shift of power, Republicans have taken control of the US Senate, according to early Wednesday projections from major news outlets. This victory ends four years of Democratic control in the upper chamber and positions the GOP to hold sway over both legislative houses if Donald Trump prevails in the presidential race.

With Republicans now holding the Senate, a Trump presidency would have the legislative backing needed to advance his agenda and appoint conservative judges to the Supreme Court. However, a victory for his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, would likely lead to legislative deadlock.

The Senate contest saw Republicans secure critical victories, including Jim Justice’s win in West Virginia to replace retiring independent Joe Manchin, and Bernie Moreno’s defeat of long-standing Ohio Democrat Sherrod Brown. Deb Fischer’s victory in Nebraska further solidified the GOP’s grip on the chamber.

Senator John Cornyn of Texas expressed optimism, saying he looked forward to working with a “new conservative majority to make America great again by making the Senate work again.”

Republicans are expected to widen their lead in the Senate, potentially ending up with 55 seats, giving them considerable influence to push through Trump’s domestic and judicial initiatives should he win. Meanwhile, Democrats sought to compensate for losses with potential gains in Texas and Florida but conceded both states.

For the first time, the Senate will have two Black women serving simultaneously, with Democrats Angela Alsobrooks and Lisa Blunt Rochester winning seats in Maryland and Delaware, respectively. This is a historic milestone, as only three Black women have previously served in the upper chamber, including Kamala Harris.

In the House, control remains uncertain, with the Democrats needing only four seats to flip the majority. The final results may take days to emerge, as vote counts continue across the nation.

Other significant wins included Delaware’s Sarah McBride, who becomes the first openly transgender politician elected to Congress, securing a House seat for the Democrats.

The stakes in this election are underscored by the record-breaking spending on Congressional campaigns, with over $10 billion poured into the races, according to OpenSecrets, a political finance watchdog.

As the dust settles, Republicans’ Senate win signals a monumental shift in Washington’s power balance, one that could shape the next chapter of US politics depending on the presidential outcome.

WHAT WINNING OF DONALD TRUMP MEANS TO ZAMBIA AND THE WOLRD

By Mark Simuuwe

Analysis:

1. Trump is likely to end the Ukraine war given his international posture with Russia and President Putin ;

2. Trump likely to end Israeli – Palestinian war , even if he was the first one to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel- remember that Trump and Republicans get along with President Benjamin Netanyahu so it will be easy to pursuade Netanyahu ; this is why it was easy for the Republicans to host Netanyahu a few months ago ;

3. As a result of end in war , World price of fuel will go down overtime thereby pushing the world cost of living down in developing countries like Zambia ;

4. Since Trump is more concerned with American politics and not much about African politics, democracy in some African may not be doing very well as Trump is usually unpredictable when it comes to making decisions on Africa;

5. Trump may upset US- China Relations on a number of fronts achieved if he so wishes vis , signed military MoUs last year , achievements made in the area of Artificial Intelligence( AI) – it is also possible that Trump may improve the US- China relations if he wishes for the sake of reducing tensions in the Asia- Middle East. Historically , Trump’s language on China has not been good . For example during Covid , Trump issued offending statements against China and called Covid as “ Chinese Flu”, which was not pleasing to the Chinese friends . It is expected that Trump will treat China differently this time for the sake of global stability ;

6. Trump may help end war in Sudan ;

7. It is also very likely this time around , that Trump may approach African politics differently by recognizing Africa as a serious partner in trade and industry unlike the way he approached Africa last time he ruled USA .

Seven Key Takeaways from One Man’s Reckless Affair with Over 400 High-Profile Married Women

Seven Key Takeaways from One Man’s Reckless Affair with Over 400 High-Profile Married Women

The shocking story of a man who allegedly had unprotected encounters with over 400 married women offers a brutal, unfiltered look at modern relationships and exposes uncomfortable truths about commitment, loyalty, and the nature of marriage today. This isn’t just a story of reckless behavior—it’s a wake-up call, a harsh reminder of how fragile marriage can be in today’s society. Here are the seven key takeaways for any man who’s paying attention.

1. Marriage Does Not Guarantee Faithfulness

Marriage is often seen as a commitment, a vow of fidelity. But here’s the harsh reality: a wedding ring doesn’t guarantee loyalty. These women took vows, publicly declared their commitment, yet still sought companionship elsewhere. This isn’t just about one man; it’s a reality check that many people in marriages, both men and women, don’t hold loyalty as highly as society pretends. Marriage should represent trust, but this story reveals that without integrity, that trust is just a hollow promise.

2. Women May Cheat Without Apparent Reason

Society likes to create excuses for why women cheat—dissatisfaction, neglect, or lack of emotional connection. But this situation highlights a disturbing truth: sometimes, there is no clear reason. Some of these women, likely from comfortable, seemingly happy homes, still sought excitement elsewhere. While men are often painted as the ones likely to stray, this story challenges that narrative. Women may not need an apparent reason to cheat; for some, it’s about thrill-seeking, rebellion, or simply the chance to experience something different.

3. Wealth Cannot Ensure Loyalty

Many of these high-profile women were married to wealthy, influential men. Yet even financial stability, luxurious lifestyles, and social status couldn’t keep them from stepping outside their marriages. This is a stark reminder that money alone won’t secure someone’s loyalty. If your relationship’s foundation is based solely on wealth or material comfort, it’s built on shaky ground. True loyalty goes beyond luxury and status; it’s about respect, values, and genuine connection. Money might create comfort, but it can’t buy commitment.

4. Society Lacks a Strong Moral Compass or Clear Guidelines

The sheer scale of this situation underscores that our society’s moral compass is slipping. The idea of integrity, loyalty, and respect in marriage has become blurred, diluted by casual relationships, temptation, and moral relativism. Today’s society has fewer clear guidelines, and loyalty often takes a backseat to instant gratification. The lack of accountability, both personal and societal, feeds this culture of recklessness, where betrayal and disloyalty are treated as “private issues” rather than ethical breaches.

5. Women Might Cheat More Often Than Men—Men Just Handle Theirs Differently

This situation suggests that women may be stepping outside of their marriages more frequently than commonly believed. Men and women might be equally prone to infidelity, but how each gender handles it can differ. Men might compartmentalize or keep affairs strictly physical, while women often seek emotional connection, which can lead to deeper betrayals. The bottom line? Infidelity isn’t a “male problem.” The reality is far more complex, and any assumptions based on gender alone are both misleading and dangerous.

6. Perhaps Marriage Is Overrated?

With so many examples of betrayal, infidelity, and broken vows, it’s valid to question whether marriage in its traditional sense is still relevant. Are people entering marriage for the right reasons, or are they pressured by societal expectations? For many, marriage may no longer represent a lifelong commitment but rather a phase, a temporary state until temptation proves too strong. If marriage is treated so casually by both parties, is it a partnership worth investing in, or is it an outdated institution in need of serious re-evaluation?

7. Many Women Look to Marriage as a Source of Validation

For some women, marriage is less about loyalty and more about social validation. Marriage is often marketed as a milestone, a “goal” to achieve, yet when it’s seen solely as a status symbol, the commitment aspect becomes secondary. This leads to situations where some women, even after securing a “successful” marriage, continue seeking validation elsewhere. They’re looking for excitement, attention, or affirmation outside the confines of marriage because their need for validation wasn’t fulfilled by simply wearing a ring or saying “I do.” This mindset erodes the essence of marriage, turning it into a status rather than a commitment.

The Bottom Line: A Wake-Up Call for Men

This story isn’t just scandalous; it’s a brutal wake-up call about the state of modern relationships. If this situation doesn’t make men rethink their approach to commitment and relationships, nothing will. Don’t get blindsided by the “fairy tale” of marriage. Choose a partner with integrity, loyalty, and mutual values—someone who views commitment as a lifelong promise, not a temporary contract. Because if you’re marrying for superficial reasons, or if she’s with you for status, wealth, or validation, the risk of betrayal is real.

Stay sharp, men. Relationships aren’t what they used to be, and the game has changed. Understand what you’re getting into, set high standards, and never settle for less than a partner who’s in it for the long haul. Choose wisely, because the consequences of ignoring these truths can be devastating.

SP OBJECTS PLANS TO AMEND CONSTITUTION BASED ON ‘CAMPAIGN PERIOD’

SP OBJECTS PLANS TO AMEND CONSTITUTION BASED ON ‘CAMPAIGN PERIOD’

…..says there is no contradiction between Section 2 of the Electoral Process Act and Article 81 (3) as both Parliament and Campaign period stand for 90 days

Lusaka… Tuesday November 5, 2024

The Socialist Party (SP) says there is no contradiction between Section 2 of the Electoral Process Act and Article 81 (3) as both Parliament and Campaign period stand for 90 days or three months before the date of a general election.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has stated that it recognizes the need to address the lacunas identified in the constitution and other electoral laws to ensure the smooth implementation of the electoral process.

The Commission said some provisions in the constitution and the Electoral Process Act that need to be addressed include delimitation, qualifications for mayor and council chairperson, independent candidates, and the definition of the campaign period.

But SP General Secretary Dr Cosmas Musumali says the reasons advanced by the ECZ do not warrant or merit constitutional amendment.

He said there have been no challenges when it comes to having the 90 days or three months of campaigns before the actual day for the elections.

He said this when he made submissions to the Electoral Reform Technical Committee spearheaded by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).

“The ECZ allegation on definition of Campaign Period: Section 2 of the Electoral Process Act defines “campaign period” to mean a period of three months before the holding of an election. Whereas Article 81 (3) provides that Parliament shall stand dissolved ninety days before the holding of the next general election. Section 2 of the Electoral Process Act therefore creates an ambiguity in the case of a general election as campaigns are expected to commence before Parliament dissolves in line with Article 81(3),” he stated.

“Our position on definition of Campaign Period:   There is no contradiction between Section 2 of the Electoral Process Act and Article 81 (3), as both Parliament and the Campaign period stand at 90 days (3 months) before the date of a general election.”

Dr. Musumali further said the spirit behind dissolving Parliament is to pave way for the campaign period and to ensure a level playing field for candidates participating in an election.

“It minimizes the “incumbency benefit” and the laws as they stand today deliver this. In 2021, Parliament was dissolved on 12th May 2021 and the campaign period run from 12th May 2021 to 11th August  2021, therefore, the spirit behind this constitutional provision and the Electoral Process Act where achieved. This does not warrant or merit constitutional amendment,” he concluded.

Stardy deserves repudiation by all

By Daily Revelation Editor

Former permanent secretary in the Ministry of Defence in the Edgar Lungu administration, Stardy Mwale, unleashed on his colleague PF Chishimba Kambwili in a 15-minute audio that has gone viral, saying he wished it was he who died in the road accident as opposed to his two brothers, Mutale and Mwamba.

Mwale blamed Kambwili’s mouth for being responsible for the misfortunes he’s going through, saying he will continue going through difficulties unless he repented as there were many people who were complaining about him.

He accused Kambwili of having lied about him, including accusations that he bought his farm at $2.8 million when in fact he bought it at K6 million, and that he was going through a lot of problems today, including the seizure of that same farm by the Anti-Corruption Commission. He said his children were for the first time not going to school because of the many problems Kambwili occasioned on him.

Mwale further charged that he had CCTV footage showing Kambwili taking ladies to his lodge to fornicate with them, but later turned against him and started lying about him, leading to the many problems he was facing today.

Whatever the issues which exist between Mwale and Kambwili, only the two will know better.

Of course, it is a well known fact that Kambwili is a man of many weaknesses who says a lot with his mouth. However, this does not in anyway indicate that that we agree with the many allegations Mwale is raising as we do not have the proof. The weaknesses we are alluding to are independent of the many allegations Mwale is raising.

In fact, we would not even wish to discuss anything concerning Kambwili right now, because humanity teaches us that you do not beat someone when they are down. Kambwili is suffering right now recovering from physical and emotion injuries following the recent road accident which claimed his very close brothers, and also

THOSE WHO EMBRACE CHANGE EASILY GRAB OPPORTUNITIES AND MOVE ON

“Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.”

Growth is a choice, and that people can develop and grow by taking initiative and pushing themselves outside of their comfort zone.

Sometimes we don’t even have to make a decision for change to happen. It can happen with or without our consent. Growth is what is optional, it only happens with our consent and when we make the decision to grow.

In our political circles today,we still have individuals who have refused to accept change of government that took place on 12 August 2021.The consequences of their denial is written all over their faces for anyone to see, most of them it is really taking a toll on both their personal health as well as affecting their family welfare too.
This resistance to accept that the political landscape changed in 2021, is clouding their rational judgement leading them to see wrong in every right government decision and to see right in their own decisions and conduct. They’re seeing Zambia through their lenses which through their own misguided belief, they strongly believe every citizen is wearing similar and common lenses and also seeing Zambia from their perspective.

It is this misjudgment that is making them blind from seeing or rather accepting whatever deliverables the current government has done in three years so far.

It is this same resistance that is convincing them to start thinking that every reasonable citizen regrets voting for that change in 2021 and that given another chance, they’d reverse their votes.

This resistance can also be found in workplaces.
People can grow alongside change professionally by taking on new challenges, seeking out opportunities, and pushing their boundaries.

Similarly in relationships,
growth requires both people to be committed to emotional and spiritual growth.

It’s quite simple: in life the places you live and the people you know will inevitably change. You will change as an individual throughout the years, but how you develop and grow as a matter of personal professional growth,is up to you. That is when your own initiative and passion come into play.

Sure, change is inevitable in life. But you only truly grow when you seek the opportunities that seem unreachable or seek a new challenge that seems impossible to overcome. So grab a hold of those opportunities and don’t ever let go. Embrace change, opportunities and work towards growth.Resistance to change and stagnation in growth, usually come in the same package.

Imagine a person walking into their local gym and saying to a personal trainer, ” I want to get stronger, more flexible, and overall just get in better shape.” The trainer would, of course, respond that they could help with that. Now imagine, the person added, “And I would like to receive these results without having to work at it, without feeling any discomfort as part of the process.”
It is easy to see that this is not going to work.

When it comes to relationships, if the two individuals in the relationship want the feelings of love without committing to the decision to do the work, it is bound to fail. All significant relationships require both people committing to working on the relationship, in order for it to grow and mature.
Let me conclude by appealing to the greater mass to help our colleagues who are grappling with accepting change to realise that resistance to change, can negatively change them or kill them,
*I submit*

COURT UPDATE; MWAMBA RECOUNTS BRUTAL ATTACK AND ABDUCTION BY THE POLICE

COURT UPDATE; MWAMBA RECOUNTS BRUTAL ATTACK AND ABDUCTION BY THE POLICE

… they framed the charge of assaulting a police officer to hide the brutality they meted on him…

Lusaka-Tuesday, 5th November, 2024

Former Ambassador to Ethiopia and Patriotic Front Chairperson for Information and Publicity, Emmanuel Mwamba recounted before the Lusaka Resident Magistrate. Hon. Trevor Kasanda, how he was brutalised and detained by police officers from Zambia Police Service Headquarters.

Commencing his defence in a matter where he is charged with allegedly assaulting a police officer, Mwamba testified that the officers manhandled and brutalised him.

He was led in his defence by Mr. Chandiwa Nyimbiri from Makebi Zulu Advocates.

Mwamba narrated that he went to a car wash located on Mosio-O-Tunya road in Woodlands on Wednesday, June 14th 2023 around 15:00hrs.

He said shortly after his arrival at the car wash, he saw three (3) cars arrive and about twelve (12) men alighted and charged towards him.

He said only one person was familiar to him.

He said he asked if they were policemen and demanded for identification cards when they said they were there to pick him up.

He also wondered why the officers could not issue a police call-out to invite him for any matter they were investigating since he was a well-known person and of fixed abode.

He said during this process, he also requested to phone his lawyer. He said he managed to call his wife but barely gave details of where  he was as one of the officers wrestled and twisted his hand backwards and forcibly grabbed the phone.

He said it was at this stage that the officers became brutal and started attacking him and were focused on trying to get his phone.

He said despite showing willingness to accompany them to the Police Station if they showed him identification cards,  the police officers didn’t and were only determined to bundle him in one of the waiting cars.

He said he felt he was being abducted as the men came in unmarked cars, did not show any IDs and were in civilian clothes.

He identified 3 police officers that led the attack, who he later learnt to be; Steven Simweenda, Brian Chipango and Joseph Kapasa as officers who man-handled and brutalised him.

He said the brutal scene attracted people including workers at the car wash.

He also dismissed assertions that he assaulted one of the Police officers as both his hands were restrained by the 3 officers.

He said police officers confiscated phones of other patrons at the car wash who were filming the incident and brought them to Police Service Headquaters and later proceeded  to delete the footages as testified earlier in court.

He said if the phone footages were favourable to the story of the police officers, they would not have deleted the evidence but would have tendered it in court.

Mwamba said when they arrived at Service Headquarters, he informed a person who identified himself as a supervising officer of the operation, Prince Kalala, that he had been brutalised and was experiencing a lot of pain on his neck, shoulders, upper right jaw and a visibly swollen thumb and needed to immediately seek medical attention.

Mwamba narrated that he was later detained at Emasdale Police Station but both his family and his lawyer only located him the following day.

He expressed surprise that after the brutal ordeal that he experienced during his apprehension, a report was brought that he had assaulted a police officer calling the process utterly fraudulent.

He said the charges were brought to hide the human rights abuses the police officers committed and injuries they inflicted on him.

He stated that for 3 days, police authorities denied him access to medical treatment and he only went to the hospital after he was released on police bond.

He said medical records confirmed that he was brutalised, lost his tooth, and had bruises on his shoulders.

He said he reported the 3 officers to Woodlands Police Station on charges of assault. He testified that he tendered evidence but said to date, the Zambia Police has never investigated or arrested the Police officers despite his evidence and medical records he submitted.

He also testified that he complained to the Zambia Police and Public Complaints Commission to investigate the criminal and misconduct of the 3 officers and to investigate the fraudulent charges slapped on him.

He said so far nothing has been done and he has sued the police officers and the Attorney General in the Lusaka High Court for the brutal attack and abduction.

Mwamba proceeded to tender documentary evidence and photos into court of his medical records, letters of complaint to the Zambia Police and Public Commissiona and other supporting document.

The matter was adjourned to November 20th 2024 for continued defence.

Mozambique presidential runner-up escapes alleged assassination attempt

0

Mozambique opposition leader Venâncio Mondlane, the runner-up in last month’s disputed presidential election, says he has escaped an assassination attempt in South Africa, where he sought refuge after challenging the results.

In a video posted to Facebook, Mondlane said he was in “mortal danger” after assassins had gone to his home to try to kill him.

Mondlane said he had to jump through the back door and run through a hair salon, while carrying his bags, accompanied by his wife and daughter.

He did not provide any evidence to back up his claim and the Mozambican authorities have not commented.

Mondlane went into hiding about two weeks ago, after his aide and lawyer were killed as they were preparing to challenge the results.

Daniel Chapo, the candidate of the ruling party Frelimo, was officially declared the winner with over 71% of the vote, as opposed to Mondlane’s 20%.

Mondlane didn’t specify exactly where the alleged assassination attempt had taken place.

In the video, he said he had been staying in the affluent Sandton neighbourhood in Johannesburg.

“I was with my wife and my daughter, running from one place to another,” he said.

South Africa’s foreign ministry told the AFP news agency they didn’t even know Mondlane was in the country and that the matter should have been reported to the police.

The BBC reached out to South African police, but they didn’t respond.

Mondlane went into hiding before the results were announced, claiming his home had been surrounded by members of the security forces.

He has called on Mozambicans to hold nationwide demonstrations against the election results, which are being challenged in court by the Podemos party which backed Mondlane.

The protests have led to violent clashes with the police and several people have been killed, with dozens injured.

The internet and social media have also been restricted.

A general strike called by Mondlane has continued, despite the prime minister’s call for people to return to work.

Three children were reportedly shot dead by police in different parts of the capital Maputo on Monday, while eight people were reportedly killed in the northern province of Nampula over the weekend.

Two different Frelimo offices were reportedly attacked in Nampula, prompting the police to respond with tear gas, rubber bullets, and live ammunition, killing one person.

The demonstrators then set fire to the house allegedly belonging to a police officer accused of killing a protester.

Mondlane has been rallying people to come together for a “final march” in Maputo, on Thursday.

It is due to be the end of a seven-day protest he called last week.

South African Sangoma Blames Zimbabweans’ ‘Ritual Practices’ for Causing Victoria Falls to Dry Up

Sangoma Blames Zimbabweans’ ‘Ritual Practices and Lack of Respect for Nature’ for Causing Victoria Falls to Dry Up

South African sangoma Samukelisiwe Mtheku Thabethe has courted ire after claiming that the drying up of Victoria Falls is not a natural phenomenon but a consequence of Zimbabweans’ ritual practices and disrespect for water bodies and their spiritual significance.

Thabethe’s claims came in light of the ongoing environmental concerns surrounding the iconic falls.

Criticism of Zimbabweans’ Ritual Practices
In a Facebook post, Samukelisiwe Thabethe argued that the drying up of Victoria Falls should not be attributed to natural causes but rather to the lack of respect shown by Zimbabweans towards nature.

He criticized Zimbabweans for practising dangerous rituals around water bodies, which he argues disrupt the natural balance.

“Is what is happening in Zimbabwe natural or not?”

It is not natural. I am currently living in Roodepoort, Jhb, and we have a lot of Zimbabweans here (Zandspruit specifically), and we share most of the spaces we are using for ancestral practices, including rivers.

Zimbabweans don’t respect nature; Zimbabweans don’t respect the waters and the beings living in waters”.

Samukelisiwe Thabethe referred to his experiences in Roodepoort, Johannesburg, where he alleges that the actions of Zimbabweans have harmed water spirits in nearby rivers.

He described how Zimbabweans allegedly use mirrors and rice in these rituals, believing they attract water spirits.

“There’s a river that I regularly use to cleanse people close by, and the things that Zimbabweans tend to do there are not normal nor acceptable.

I don’t know how many times I’ve removed upwards facing mirrors inside the river. You know what the mirrors are used for? They are use for kutsebula (capture) the waters spirits that inhibit that body of water. In this specific river, they were trying to capture the mermaid that stays there. They would put rice along the banks of the river and then put the mirrors in side. Why rice? They believe that it attracts mermaids.

So they are putting the rice there to lure the mermaid, and then the mirrors will do their jobs.”

Accusations of Supernatural Interference at Victoria Falls
The sangoma suggested that the drying up of the Zambezi River, which feeds Victoria Falls, is linked to rituals aimed at capturing water spirits, such as mermaids.

Thabethe argued that attempts by Zimbabweans to capture water spirits have angered the water spirits, causing them to leave the river and resulting in the drying of the falls.

“Going back to the Zambezi river which is the river that feeds Victoria Falls, how does a big and ancient river just dry out? Is it is really lol linked to the so called drought? Absolutely not. A river that is occupied by great water spirits such as the mermaid, inkanyamba and mambamuntu (half human, half crocodile) doesn’t dry out no matter the climate.

Someone tried to capture the water beings that live there and this was the result because after the attempt, the water spirits decided to migrate to another water body leaving what you see in the pictures below.”

Calls for a Ritual Apology

In his post, Thabethe urged Zimbabweans to respect water bodies and conduct a ritual apology to the water spirits to mend the disruption caused by their actions. He posited that such an apology could lead to the return of the spirits to the river and restore the flow of water

“Zimbabweans just need to respect waters bodies and then go back to do a ritual that will be an apology to the water beings then this will go away. Bayethe!

Hopewell Chin’ono Weighs in on Viral Lula Lula Scandal Involving Equatorial Guinea Politician Baltasar Ebang Engonga

Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono has weighed in on the trending ‘lula lula’ scandal surrounding Equatorial Guinea politician Baltasar Ebang Engonga.

Baltasar Ebang Engonga, CEO of Equatorial Guinea’s National Agency for Financial Investigation (ANIF), is making waves after over 400 of his bedroom videos smashing people’s wives were leaked on the internet.

His ‘lula lula’ escapades reportedly include high-profile figures: the wives of cabinet ministers, the Director of Presidential Security’s wife, the attorney general’s wife, the daughter of the Director General of Police, his godfather’s wife, his bodyguard’s wife, 15 friends of his younger sister, his pastor’s wife, his uncle’s pregnant wife, and even his younger brother’s wife.

Hopewell Chin’ono Questions Engonga’s Mental State Over Scandalous Affairs
Taking to his X account, Hopewell Chin’ono argued that Baltasar Ebang Engonga is mentally ill. He stated that no man in his right mind would sleep with his uncle’s pregnant wife, brother’s wife, and cousin.

“This guy is mentally ill. You cannot sleep with your cousin (hanzvadzi) in Africa, your uncle’s pregnant wife, and your brother’s wife and be considered normal!.”

He argued that Baltasar Ebang Engonga’s behaviour suggests deeper psychological issues and that he may need psychiatric help.

“The behavior is not only alarming, it is indicative of deeper psychological issues that require psychiatric help.
Engaging in s*xual relationships with close family members is not only taboo in many cultures, but it will also have severe emotional and social consequences on everyone involved including the spouses of these people.”

Reflecting on his documentary ‘State of Mind’, Hopewell Chin’ono noted disturbing cases involving women engaging in relationships with their fathers-in-law. He described these men’s actions as thrill-seeking while expressing confusion over why the women participated in such “deranged activities.”

“When I made State of Mind, I came across cases of women who slept with their fathers in law, for these sick men, it is thrill seeking, for the women, I don’t even understand why they engage in such deranged activities.
But certainly power and money plays a big role in many of these cases!.”

Hopewell Chin’ono Bemoans Male Admiration for Engonga’s Lula Lula Scandal
Hopewell Chin’ono bemoaned how scores of men are hailing Baltasar Bang Engonga as a ‘real man’ for sleeping with multiple women.

“It is sad that many men are seeing this guy as some kind of power child hero, this guy has mental issues because once you sleep with your cousin in Africa, you have a serious problem.”

Mnangagwa calls for repatriation of Zimbabwe skulls from British museums

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has renewed calls for the repatriation of the remains of Chimurenga war heroes from Britain, emphasizing the need for their interment in “a dignified manner.” This statement was made during his address at the funeral of late hero Jaison William Chezhira Chakaipa Chirinda, underscoring the ongoing quest for recognition and justice regarding the impacts of colonialism in Zimbabwe.

Among the remains sought are those of prominent historical figures such as Mbuya Nehanda, Sekuru Kaguvi, Chief Makoni Chingaira, Chief Mapondera, and Chief Chinengundu Mashayamombe. These leaders played significant roles in the uprisings against colonial rule, and their remains are believed to have been taken to Britain as war trophies and are currently being used for research purposes.

In 2022, a Zimbabwean delegation visited the UK seeking the return of the skulls of these late-19th-century anti-colonial heroes. During this visit, representatives from London’s Natural History Museum and Cambridge University expressed willingness to cooperate with Zimbabwe in repatriating the human remains.

Mnangagwa stated, “We remind the British Government and people that the spirits of our heroes will not rest until their remains are repatriated and interred in a dignified manner. Going forward, we urge the British Government to return the remains of our people to Zimbabwe.” His comments come amid a broader demand for colonial reparations and an official apology from Britain for past injustices.

The President also referenced a recent initiative launched by the Zimbabwe National Elders Forum, titled “Land Displacements: The Untold Stories of Crimes, Injustices, Trauma, and Losses Experienced by Indigenous Zimbabweans During the Colonial Era (1890 to 1980), A Case for Reparations.” This study aims to document the historical injustices suffered by indigenous Zimbabweans at the hands of the British government and its settlers.

In addition to the call for repatriation, Mnangagwa assured that the government is committed to compensating former white farmers whose land was seized during the land reform program. He emphasized that while the Zimbabwean government recognizes its obligations to former farmers, the British government must also acknowledge its historical responsibilities. “We call upon the British government, whose predecessor governments were responsible for pillaging and brutalizing us, to take responsibility and not remain indifferent to the cries of Zimbabweans for justice,” he said.

The issue of repatriation and reparations remains a critical topic in Zimbabwe, with ongoing discussions about the legacy of colonialism and the need for healing and reconciliation.

Zuma arms deal persecution is weird, says Thuli Madonsela

Former public protector Prof Thuli Madonsela has dropped a bombshell that former president Jacob Zuma’s prosecution regarding the controversial arms deal is a mystery.

Her remarks came during a capacity-building workshop with members of the Portfolio Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure in Parliament on October 7, aimed at equipping MPs to hold government leaders accountable for service delivery and corruption prevention.

As the workshop’s presenter on ethical leadership and transparency, Madonsela faced probing questions from MPs about the ethical considerations surrounding incumbent President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Committee member Vivian Reddy of the MK Party sought Madonsela’s opinion on Ramaphosa’s pre-government involvement with corporate giants that provided him with free shares long before he took over political power.

“It became known in business circles that certain individuals from the ANC would occupy leadership positions in the country.

“The leader of government business at the time was Ramaphosa. And we found that prior to 1994, he was offered shares in many of the established white-owned companies,” Reddy said.

“My question to you is that, knowing that he was going to come into government and serve a critical role, do you think that his acceptance of these shares was an ethical decision?”

Madonsela responded by noting that evaluating the ethics of past benefits given to future leaders is inappropriate. She emphasised that individuals in power are only vulnerable to unethical conflicts of interest if they benefit while holding an office that can dispense
those benefits.

The discussion then shifted as Reddy questioned the rationale behind charges against Zuma, who at that time was a KwaZulu-Natal MEC for economic affairs and tourism, with corruption linked to the arms deal.

In 1998, then president Nelson Mandela and his deputy Thabo Mbeki, parliament, and cabinet, approved the Defence Review Report, which outlined the need for large-scale defence procurement. Consequently, the multi-billion rand Strategic Defence Package, popularly known as the arms deal, was signed in late 1999 following approval from Mbeki’s cabinet, specifically defence minister Joe Modise and finance minister Trevor Manuel. The supplier was French company Thales.

Reddy highlighted that Shabir Shaik, connected to the arms deal, allegedly provided Zuma with financial support prior to the deal.

“Former president Zuma is currently facing charges but at the time he was the MEC of economic [affairs] in KwaZulu-Natal. So, he had no direct influence over the award of that particular tender,” Reddy said.

“I want us to see some consistency here, and I want us to be clear about what this ethical leadership is that we speak about.

“A man in the street will say, ‘We have a president who is conflicted in this regard, and we have a former president who is being taken to court when he does not fit that definition of what we call unethical leadership.’ I just thought you could clarify this for me.”

Surprisingly, Madonsela declared her confusion over why Zuma, who was not involved in the national government when he started receiving the alleged bribes, faces prosecution.

“The fact that you got a freebie from somebody and then eventually you are in charge of them through the lottery of life does not mean we can ascribe a
conflict of interest to your conduct then retrospectively.

“I have never understood why president Zuma was prosecuted for the arms deal. And there are many things that I’ve disagreed with him on. On the issue of state capture, I stand my ground, but on the issue of the arms deal, you are right that he was a minor player, and it really doesn’t make sense,” she said.

Madonsela further elaborated that she remains perplexed by Zuma’s prosecution, particularly when those directly involved in the transaction have not faced similar legal scrutiny.

“With the people involved in the actual transaction having not been prosecuted, it remains weird that he was prosecuted, but it’s not my place to deal with that.

“It’s up to those who deal with law enforcement to deal with that.”

Zuma faces charges of corruption, fraud and money laundering related to the arms deal. The trial is scheduled to commence on April 14, 2025, following numerous delays and appeals.

Ramaphosa’s fitness to lead ANC renewal questioned

0

In a recent interview with Sunday World Engage, Solly Mapaila, the general secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP), reiterated his long-standing concerns about President Cyril Ramaphosa’s suitability to spearhead the African National Congress (ANC) renewal project. Describing Ramaphosa as “scandal contaminated,” Mapaila pointed to the recent Phala Phala panel report, which indicated prima facie evidence of wrongdoing related to the alleged theft of cash from the president’s Limpopo farm, as a significant blemish on the president’s integrity.

Mapaila emphasized the strategic reasons for the SACP’s continued alliance with the ANC, asserting the need to protect the party from being entirely influenced by imperialist and neo-liberal agendas. “The ANC elects its own leaders, and my criticism in 2022 highlighted the inability of any of the contending leaders to embody the symbol of renewal,” he stated. He expressed concern that the president’s scandals disqualified him from representing any genuine sense of renewal within the party.

For Mapaila, a leader tasked with driving an ethical and value-based renewal project must possess moral integrity and a commitment to the principles of the national democratic revolution (NDR). He called for Ramaphosa to distance himself from “reactionary forces,” particularly the Democratic Alliance (DA), and to focus on the NDR’s core pillars, which include anti-imperialism, anti-oppression, and poverty alleviation.

Critiquing the government of national unity (GNU), which he labels a “neo-liberal coalition government,” Mapaila suggested that all ANC leaders who contested for leadership at the Nasrec conference were equally questionable. He lamented their failure to commit to a distinct renewal project, instead opting for vague discussions about renewal without addressing its practical implications.

Mapaila expressed frustration with the current ANC leadership, accusing them of undermining the long-standing call for the reconfiguration of the alliance. He noted that instead of pursuing meaningful changes within the party, the ANC has allied itself with the DA, further delaying necessary reforms.

He reminded listeners that the debate over the reconfiguration of the alliance, initiated during the Polokwane conference in 2007, was ostensibly settled in 2019 with an agreement endorsed by the highest decision-making bodies of the alliance. However, Mapaila criticized the new generation of ANC leaders for sidelining this foundational document in favor of a revised framework, which he claimed misrepresented the SACP’s position.

As tensions within the ANC and its alliances continue to simmer, Mapaila’s comments serve as a clarion call for introspection and a reevaluation of leadership principles aimed at restoring integrity and purpose to the ANC’s renewal efforts.

29 children may be sentenced to death for protesting against cost-of-living crisis in Nigeria

0

Twenty-nine children could be facing the death penalty in Nigeria after they were arraigned Friday for participating in a protest against the country’s record cost-of-living crisis. Four of them collapsed in court due to exhaustion before they could enter a plea.

A total of 76 protesters were charged with 10 felony counts, including treason, destruction of property, public disturbance and mutiny, according to the charge sheet seen by The Associated Press.

According to the charge sheet, the minors ranged in age from 14 to 17 years old.

Frustration over the cost-of-living crisis has led to several mass protests in recent months. In August, at least 20 people were shot dead and hundreds more were arrested at a protest demanding better opportunities and jobs for young people.

The death sentence was introduced in the 1970s in Nigeria, but there have been no executions in the country since 2016.

Akintayo Balogun, a private lawyer based in Abuja, said the Child Rights Act does not allow any child to be subject to criminal proceedings and sentenced to death.

“So taking minors before a federal high court is wrong, ab initio, except if the government is able to prove that the boys are all above 19 years,” Balogun said.

The court eventually granted 10 million naira ($5,900) bail to each the defendants and imposed stringent conditions they are yet to meet, Marshal Abubakar, counsel to some of the boys, said.

“A country that has a duty to educate its children will decide to punish those children. These children have been in detention for 90 days without food,” Abubakar said.

Yemi Adamolekun, executive director of Enough is Enough, a civil society organization promoting good governance in Nigeria, said authorities have no business prosecuting children.

“The chief justice of Nigeria should be ashamed, she is a woman and a mother,” Adamolekun said.

Despite being one of the top crude oil producers in Africa, Nigeria remains one of the world’s poorest countries. Chronic corruption means the lifestyle of its public officials rarely mirrors that of the general population. Medical professionals often strike to protest meager wages.

The country’s politicians and lawmakers, often accused of corruption, are some of the best-paid in Africa. Even the president’s wife — her office nowhere in the constitution — is entitled to SUVs and other luxuries funded by taxpayers.

Nigeria’s population of over 210 million people — the continent’s largest — is also among the hungriest in the world and its government has struggled to create jobs. The inflation rate is also at 28-year high and the local naira currency at record lows against the dollar.

On Thursday, Nigeria was classified as a “hotspot of very high concern,” in a report from United Nations’ food agencies, as large numbers of people are facing or are projected to face critical levels of acute food insecurity in the West African country.

M23 rebels capture strategic town in North Kivu in Democratic Republic of Congo

0

The March 23 Movement (M23) rebels have taken control of Kamandi-Gite, a strategic town located on the west coast of Lake Edward in North Kivu province, eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This advance follows intense fighting with the DR Congo government army and its coalition on Saturday and Sunday.

Kamandi-Gite is situated approximately 130 kilometres from Goma City. Several reliable sources confirmed the presence of M23 rebels in the town on Sunday evening.

In the early hours of Monday, Lieutenant Colonel Willy Ngoma, the M23 rebels’ military spokesperson released a statement affirming the rebels’ claim. Ngoma stated that after suffering defeat, FARDC soldiers and their coalition retreated to the peripheral hills surrounding Kamandi-Gite.

He emphasised that the strategic location of Kamandi-Gite provides M23 fighters with opportunities to access the entire southern part of the Lubero territory, particularly the southwest coast of Lake Edward, which borders Rutshuru territory.

“The answer is ‘Yes.’ The M23 took control of the agglomeration of Kamandi-Gite, located on the west coast of Lake Edward in the chiefdom of Batangi, territory of Lubero, province of North Kivu, more than 130 km north of the city of Goma. This follows a counterattack from the enemies who attacked Kirumba around 3am on November 3, 2024. This attack comes two days after a similar one carried out by the Wazalendos around Kirumba. The FARDC, FDLR, Wazalendo, and other militias allied with Mr Tshilombo will never return here,” he said.

Ngoma continued, “Coming from Kirumba, a commune located about 20 kilometres from Kamandi-Gite, the Wazalendos have retreated to the peripheral hills of Kamandi-Gite. They are considering a probable preparation for a counterattack, but we will not allow them.”

The DR Congo army is yet to respond to the M23 rebels’ claims. The conflict between M23 and the Congolese government began in March 2022, led by Bertrand Bisimwa and Emmanuel Sultan Makenga.

This war has led to the M23/AFC capturing and controlling large parts of Rutshuru, Masisi, Nyiragongo, and Lubero territories in North Kivu province.

The DR Congo government has repeatedly accused Rwanda of supporting M23, a claim that both Rwanda and the rebels deny. The M23 asserts that their fight is against corruption, xenophobia, and discrimination within the DRC’s leadership.

Ben Affleck makes surprising comment about Jennifer Lopez

American actor, Ben Affleck has praised his estranged wife Jennifer Lopez’s performance in the forthcoming film Unstoppable, which he’s a producer on.

The Air actor-director, 52, who’s in the middle of a divorce with Lopez, 55, told Entertainment Tonight Sunday that ‘Jennifer is spectacular’ in the role of Judy Robles in the sports drama.

The two-time Oscar-winner appeared in the interview with friend and Artists Equity production partner Matt Damon, 54; and reigning Best Actor Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, 48.

‘Unstoppable is a very different movie than this but in a way, it’s similarly rooted in the passion of really talented artists,’ said Affleck. ‘Goldenberg and Jennifer and Don Cheadle and Jharrel, and Bobby Cannavale – all were really passionate about this film.’

Affleck said that Unstoppable ‘is another example of’ the kind of films that he and Damon are ‘really really proud of,’ and ‘believed in the right people’ in collaborating with.

Lopez, in a chat with Nikki Glaser published in Interview magazine on October 9, said that she is handling the latest chapter in her life with the wisdom that comes with life experience.

‘I think my whole life I’ve just been trying to say I’m good enough, until where I am now when I know,’ Lopez said. ‘I’m giving myself credit. I’m telling that little girl that grew up in the Bronx, “You’ve done really good for yourself.” I didn’t do that for so many years.

‘And now I think, with everything that’s happened in my life and in my relationships and even in my career, it’s like, give yourself a bit of comfort and love.’

Lopez talked about how she copes with adversity amid trying times.

‘We’ve been through a lot of things that nobody knows about, and you’ve persevered and you refuse to give up and to let it get you down,’ she said.

‘There’s something to be said for that because things can really change your life in a way that you do want to give up and say, “F*** this, this is too hard, I don’t want to do this anymore.”

‘But I’m not there. I refuse to not give myself everything that little girl deserves.’

‘What fun, what a joy to do something with her, see her be great, go to work with your wife, go to work with your best friend,’ Affleck said at the time. ‘If you don’t like who you’re working with, and if you have difficulty or trouble at work, I think it’s one of the things that can really cause depression, anxiety and pain for people.

‘And conversely, [if] you love the people at work, you probably have a pretty good life, you know?’

Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, 2024 divorce after months of speculation swirling around the relationship between the A-list singer-actress and actor-director.

She filed the documents on the two-year anniversary of their nuptials at Affleck’s estate outside of Savannah, Georgia on August 20, 2022.

Lopez and Affleck made headlines in 2021 when they rekindled their romance, nearly 17 years after calling off their original engagement and postponing their September 2003 wedding.

UK govt to raise university tuition fees

0

The administration of Prime Minister Keir Starmer in the United Kingdom is planning to increase tuition fees in universities in the country effective from September 2025, a report by The Telegraph of London has indicated.

The increase is going to be the first in eight years.

Education Secretary, Bridget Phillipson, is expected to announce the tuition fees rise in line with the Retail Price Index inflation.

The fee rise is expected to come into force from September 2025, meaning that it will affect A-level students who are currently applying to universities.

Tuition fees have remained frozen at £9,250 since 2017. It is unclear which month’s inflation figures the Labour Party government will choose to link fees to, but matching them to the current rate of 2.7 per cent would see fees rise to about £9,500 from next year.

Previous reports suggested that the government would raise tuition fees to £10,500 over the next five years.

The move follows growing concerns that many institutions are now facing financial crisis, with 40 per cent of English universities expecting to slump into a deficit this year.

The Coalition government tripled tuition fees to £9,000 in 2012. Fees only increased after that to hit £9,250 in 2017, where they remain frozen today despite soaring inflation over the past few years.

The Russell Group of elite universities has argued that the cap on tuition fees means they are now making a loss of about £4,000 per UK student.

University finances have also suffered from a dramatic drop in lucrative international students following a Tory crackdown on dependent visas.

Home Office figures showed 16 per cent fewer visa applications were made between July and September than in the same period in 2023.

Foreign students, who typically pay triple or even quadruple domestic students, had been largely propping up the sector. A sudden fall in numbers has removed a crucial lifeline for universities and amplified calls for immediate action from the new government.

Sources close to discussions told The Telegraph they were hoping that a small tuition fee rise would be announced in the budget last week as an acknowledgement by Rachel Reeves of the severity of the situation.

However, the Chancellor held off from unveiling any new funding for the higher education sector in her maiden budget.

Black man says he identifies as a white woman

Dr Ronnie Gladden, a US-based speaker, actor, tenured professor and author, says he now identifies as a white woman though he was born a black male.

Dr Ronnie said he grew up wanting to be like Snow White, fantasised about a Pride & Prejudice lifestyle and wanted to emulate Elle Fanning’s fashion.

He dreamed of lying out in the sun getting a tan and of having blonde hair that grew lighter in the summer.

However, being a black boy growing up in Cincinnati’s West Side meant his ambitions were not realistic.

Black male author says he identifies as a white woman

Now, middle aged, Ronnie is a tenured professor of English at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, a public speaker, and actor, and uses this platform to promote what he calls a “transgracial” identity.

Ronnie – who uses the pronoun they – now identifies as a white woman, regardless of outward appearances. According to him, there is a “repressed White female identity” inside him begging to be released.

Ronnie is part of a little-known community of people who are ‘transgracial’ – meaning they are both transgender and identify as transracial.

People who are transracial believe that race is a social construct and therefore a “choice”, but the idea of “changing” race is highly controversial.

Dr Ronnie, who holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Northern Kentucky University, subscribes to the idea that there is no innate or biological difference between races.

He claims race is a social construct which is based on how people see and treat others, and how people treat themselves.

“I know race is not real,” Ronnie writes in his book. “It’s only so because society says it is.”

Ronnie underwent surgery, with a first nose job at 19, combined with “some work on the lips”.

Black male author says he identifies as a white woman

He also wears foundation in a lighter shade but acknowledges that his outward appearance does not relay to the world their inner feeling of being a white woman.

“My skin is pretty brown in terms of complexion,” Ronnie recently told BBC Radio 4. “My hair is thick. It’s got twists and waves. Is doing a lot of different things, but I see that as an expression of my mind.”

In the same interview, Ronnie described how feeling like a white female dates back to a very young age.

As far back as pre-school, aged four, he wanted to be like their white girl peers.

The academic explained: “I remember […] being outside in the playground and wanting to animate in the same way that I saw my classmates – in the way that their hair would respond to the wind and would flap around. I wanted to have the rosy cheeks.”

Describing the feeling further during a TedX talk, Ronnie explained: “I present as black and male, yet internally, I possess a white girl within.”

He continued: “Back then, I knew […] that I was drawn to the white female aesthetic. I magnetically connected with the hair texture, the skin complexion, the bone structure, the social cues and the mathematics of that all.”

According to Ronnie, people may argue that as a young child surrounded by mainly white children, it would “make sense that you would feel like that’s how you should look”.

Black male author says he identifies as a white woman

However, the feeling has carried through to adult life.

According to Ronnie, while growing up, he saw himself “reflected” in a number of women, including Full House character Kimmy Gibler, rock star Joan Jett, and actress Anne Hathaway, describing the sensation as being “insistent, consistent and persistent throughout the years”.

Despite first having the feelings of being a white female at just four, by middle-age, Dr Ronnie has written about how he was still facing “unfinished business” when it came to working on holding these distinct identities.

But despite these struggles, Ronnie wrote: “Through all the noir, I know the light of my White femaleness swirls and lurks about. I thought it would always just have to be this way.”

Oprah Winfrey warns this will be the final election if Trump wins

0

Oprah Winfrey has warned that this will be the final election if Donald Trump wins the US presidential election ahead of Kamala Harris.

Speaking at the star-studded rally in support of Vice President Kamala Harris late Monday night in Philadelphia, the Media mogul said: ‘If we don’t show up tomorrow, it is entirely possible that we will not have the opportunity to ever cast a ballot again,’

Winfrey told Democrats, ‘All the anxiety and the fear you’re feeling, you’re feeling that because you sense the danger.’

‘And you change that with your vote,’ she said. ‘You are voting for healing over hate.’

The rally was also attended by Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, Will.i.am, Fat Joe and the Roots among many others.

Also speaking to the crowd, Lady Gaga said: ‘Today, I am holding in my heart all the tough, tenacious women who made me who I am.’ ‘I cast my vote for someone who will be a president for all Americans, and now, Pennsylvania, it’s your turn. The country is depending on you.’

Earlier in the night, Bronx-born rapper Fat Joe – who is of both Puerto Rican and Cuban descent – ripped former Trump and his MAGA allies for not only insulting Puerto-Ricans, but Haitians and Mexican-Americans too.

‘I heard they needed a Puerto Rican in Philly!’ Fat Joe said as he came onstage on the famous ‘Rocky Steps’ outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Fat Joe argued to all Latinos: ‘Where is your pride? When is enough enough?’

‘Tonight I’m short and sweet. It’s all about pride,’ he said. ‘A couple of years ago, when I seen Donald Trump come down the escalator and call my Mexican brothers and sisters drug dealers, he obviously didn’t know the contributions of Mexican-Americans to this country.’

He then recalled how Trump threw paper towels ‘like they were basketballs’ to Puerto Ricans in the wake of the devastating Hurricane Maria.

‘A couple of weeks ago, I’m watching these people again, they told my Haitian brothers and sisters that they eat cats and dogs,’ Fat Joe continued.

He then turned to Madison Square Garden, calling it a ‘hate rally.’

‘I gotta let you know I’m the guy they threw out of comedy show because I’m laughing too much. I think I’m gonna die of laughter. I find anything funny. But when they get up there and they call Puerto Rico an island of garbage – tell me how you really feel huh?’

‘I did not find that to be a joke,’ the rapper continued. ‘Disrespected Jewish people, black people, talking about carving watermelons. I mean, this is out of control, but I asked my people … where’s your pride?’

I have CCTV footage of Kambwili ‘chewing’ prostitutes at my lodge – Stardy Mwale

FORMER Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defense Stardy Mwale claims he has CCTV footage of Chishimba Kambwili frequenting his lodge in Masaiti District on the Copperbelt with prostitutes.

Mwale made the revelation in an angry 15-minute social media voice note saying Kambwili had turned his now-siezed lodge in a Masaiti a regular venue for his ‘sinful sexual activities’.

In the same audio, Mwale wished Kambwili, his fellow PF member dead.

Mwale’s source of anger against Kambwili is that, the former minister’s false accusations against him set the Anti-Corruption Commission on him leading to the seizure of his farm and lodge.

Mwale explained that he made his money with which bought a farm and a lodge in Masaiti even before the PF formed government in 2011.

“That lodge in Masaiti, you used to come there every weekend with your things, and you were doing things there, you were fornicating there…

“Even that lodge, even though it has now been seized by ACC, I built it in 2004, now its closed, now its seized, a lodge that I bought in 2004, where you used to bring prostitutes, I have got CCTV cameras,” Mwale blurted out.

Mwale who wished  Kambwili dead for putting him in problems with the Anti-graft body, advised the former roan member of parliament to patch things up with his nemesis immediately he recovers.

He said Kambwili who is former minister of sport has lost his relevance in politics as no one holds him in high regard and calls him ‘Imbwili’ for the sufferings he has caused on his colleagues within political circles.

“I will cite an example of me as Stardy Mwale.
Kambwili is the causer of what many politicians are going through including myself and my family for the past three years. Kambwili out of his own greediness, lies, swell headedness and pomposity, his mouth is the causer of his problems and as a result had his brothers killed in an accident,” Mwale said.

“Your brothers whose death you caused did not deserve to die because those people were very innocent and true worshipers of God. They were God fearing people don’t even blame anyone, not even the government of the day that they caused the death of your brothers, no!.”

Mwale said the death of Kambwili’s brothers pastor Mutale and Mwamba who lost their lives in an accident enroute to Kasama for Kambwili’s court case, was volitional.

“The person who caused the death of the two is yourself. Kambwili you have many ghosts haunting you, and you have brought troubles upon yourself. So many people have been complaining about your mouth. Kambwili your mouth has killed a lot of people than the number of the brothers that you have killed,” he said.

“Kambwili you were the one who was supposed to die in that accident, because the ghosts haunting you, many are complaining.”
