RB’s LAST WORDS BEFORE HE DIED

MY LAST GIFT TO YOU
My People,
I never knew that I will have to say this one day. Because when I was given a chance to lead you, I proved to be a dissapointment to you and my party. I made several mistakes in my few years of being your father. And as things stand, I remain a President with the shortest reign on power in Zambia.

When you chose Sata over me, I cried. I cried because I did everything possible to show you that I meant well. I cried because despite all my hard works and efforts, I still failed to win your hearts.

Then I thought I was just destined to fail. But little did I know that God was preserving me to one day stand for peace, the peace you are all now enjoying today.

It’s true, I was never perfect after I left state house. I made political blunders that weakened my MMD. It is was as good as selling my party to the PF of the young man Dr. Edgar Lungu.

In as much as this was a great political injustice to President Mumba, now I understand that what was meant for evil, God turned it around for good.

God brought me close to Dr. Lungu so that when it was time for the 7th President to take over, I would be there to calm his nerves down.

I have made many mistakes in my personal and political lives. But today even as sleep in the mortuary, surrounded by this cold and defeaning loneliness, Iam happy.

God used me to give you peace so that you can continue to lay peacefully next to your wives and wake up to see your children grow.

At a time I was seconds from my grave, over powered by cancer, every organ in me paining, I spoke peace in the ears of ECL and HH. Crushed and overwhelmed by pain, I still pleaded and pleaded. And in the end you saw ECL and HH taking pictures together.

After realising that you are now safe, I told my God that time to go has come. Because I have left you my people the greatest gift of peace. Through me, your Nyama Soya, God gave you the best gift ever- peace.

I will not say much because its not me but history that will have to reveal how God almighty used me, a failed leader at best, to secure the future of mother Zambia, in my last days on earth.
Best at heart,
President for all Zambia
Rupiah Bwezani Banda
