REVELATIONS UPND ADMINISTRATION HAS NOT PROCURED DRUGS IS SHOCKING, SAYS SILAVWE

Golden Party president Jackson Silavwe has described revelations that the UPND government has not procured essential medicines for public health facilities across the country as shocking.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Silavwe echoed sentiments by the Resident Doctors Association of Zambia that the country’s health system is on the verge of collapsing.

“The revelation that Government has not been able to procure essential medicines for public health facilities across the country in the past 6 months is extremely shocking,” stated Silavwe. “Dr Brian Sampa the President of the Doctors Association of Zambia (RDAZ) has painted a very gloom picture of our health system. Dr. Sampa surmises that Zambia’s health system is on the verge of collapsing.”

He urged the UPND administration to declare the a national health crisis and initiate procedures aimed at resuscitate the country’s health system.

“In our statement dated, 11th March, 2022 we stated that the lack of medicines in public health facilities across the country is causing premature deaths and curtailing productivity,” Silavwe further stated. “It is for this reason we call on the new dawn administration to declare a national health crisis and initiate emergency procedures to resuscitate our health system. Our public health system must save lives, not take them away.”
