Socialist Party (SP) is disappointed in Inspector General Graphael Musamba over intentions to fire several Police Officers deemed to loyal to the previous Government Administration, the Patriotic Front (PF).
SP Director Media, Brian Hapunda, said Mr. Musamba should be reminded that he is a seasoned Officer who has served under different regimes adding that Police Officers are Civil Servants that must be loyal to the Government of the day.
Mr. Hapunda said it would not be ideal for the High Command and the United Party for National Development (UPND) to fire some Officers in order to replace them with those that will be loyal to them for purposes of policing the 2026 general election.
He said it is sad for the IG to think that trained Officers can be called junkies.
Mr. Hapunda said the move by the IG will demoralise junior Officers.
The SP Director Media said the IG should work diligently so that Zambians can remember him for promoting professionalism.

Rupiah Banda ADC gets back his job, thanks to Bally
The aide de camp (ADC) of former President late Rupiah Banda has been given back his job years after being chased by the PF government in 2011.
Steven Mayoko was sacked by the PF government and denied benefits after he refused to abandon RB and testify against him.
Mayoko has now been given back his job and he will be deputy commanding officer for Muchinga Province.
The PF government wanted Mayoko to implicate RB in corruption cases after his immunity was lifted by PF but he refused and chose to be loyal to the former President.
Mayoko was the longest serving bodyguard of RB who was always standing behind him from the time he was Vice President.
Sadly, George Lungu, another of RB aide de camp who was fired together with Mayoko, died of depression and never paid his benefits by PF.
And the former police commissioner for Northwestern Province Auxiious Daka who was fired by PF for allowing President Hakainde Hichilema to campaign in the area has also been given back his job and will work at headquarters.
And current ADC of President Hakainde who was also fired by PF for arresting PF cadres in Sesheke has been promoted to the rank of deputy commissioner of police.
It pays to be professional
I still mourn Mr George Lungu (MHSRIP). He was indeed a very good professional police officer.
Check the police act of parliament before you go on an anthill to shout. The IG is the police boss and can exercise his powers accordingly. In any case why should the police keep delinquent officers. It is common knowledge that if an employee does not work to expectations will lose .
employment.
You so called socialist will employ junkies like yourselves.
Luckily you will never form government.
Useless party.
The police give a pledge to the president of a country. Therefore their loyalty right now should be to president Hakainde Hichilema not some past president. So you stop trying to cause anarchy in our country.
