UNZA STUDENTS PROTEST

THE Police have disclosed that some University of Zambia (UNZA) Students mobilized themselves and marched from UNZA main campus to Levy Mwanawasa Medical University.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale notes that this is following a report of Murder in which Oscar Masaiti aged 25, a third-year Student at Levy Mwanawasa Medical University.

Mwale says Masaiti was murdered by unknown people on February 25, 2023 around 23:00 hours.

He notes that the students marched peacefully on February 26, 2023 from 20:00 hours until 23:00 hours.

Mwale reveals that they were peacefully escorted back to UNZA by Police officers and later addressed by the Commissioner of Police for Lusaka Province, Creto Kaanza.

He discloses that the Commissioner advised the students not to conduct their protests or March in the night as it was dangerous for them.

Mwale says the commissioner thanked the students for cooperating with police officers during their march to and from UNZA main campus.

He reveals that the situation is calm and Police officers have been deployed to both Universities to monitor the situation.

Meanwhile, an 11 month old baby died after sustaining multiple dog bite wounds on the head and chest after it was biten by a dog at Roza Kahiya Farms in Mungule area.

Mwale discloses that the father to the deceased baby identified as Oliver Siamuzovu aged 26, who works at the same Farm, told Police officers who visited the scene.
