CHILUFYA TAYALI FACES TOUGHEST TIME AS COURT LOOKS AT WHETHER HE INCITED SOLDIERS TO REBEL AGAINST GOVT LAST YEAR

By Fox Reporter
MAGISTRATE Kelvin Soma has set January 16 this year as a date it will rule on whether EEP leader, Chilufya Tayali, has a case to answer or not.

This is in a matter he is charged with inciting to mutiny, a case he has pleaded not guilty.

Inciting mutiny is contrary to section 48 subsection A of the penal code chapter 47 of the law of Zambia.

Magistrate Soma received submissions yesterday to consolidated his ruling on whether the outspoken Tayali has a case to answer deserving to defend himself.

It is alleged that Tayali on an unknown date but between March 1, 2022 and April 4, 2022 in Lusaka, advisedly did attempt to seduce persons serving in the defence forces from their duty and allegiance to the President by writing on his Facebook page to which he said “I do not remember advocating for the defence forces, because they have always been paid on time, but now, they are calling on me to speak for them, it is a shame.

“These guys keep our security, you can be frustrating them or trying their patience.”

  1. Freedom of speech has limits in and of its self . There is need to be careful when playing with this double edged sword. It cuts both ways as we can now see.
