Here is how issues of Peace and Security issues are handled;

1. Local mediation by the Church or any credible institutions or persons.

2. If that fails, regional mechanisms such as SADC.

3. African Union.

4. Commonwealth and others.

So the UPND Government is encouraged to try with local mechanisms especially using the Church.

Over the years, the Church with its civic and political fights seemed to have lost its neutrality and influence on all wrangling parties. But it’s time the Church took its place and be the primary peace broker in Zambia.

I remember when Mr. Hakainde Hichilema was imprisoned that the Church spearheaded the reconciliation, before Patricia Scotland, Commonwealth Secretary General jumped in the fray and came up with her own mechanisms. On the sidelines was Brenthurst Foundation Chairperson, Olesugun Obasanjo.

We know both Obasanjo and Brenthurst Foundation have vested interests in the presidency of President Hichilema and are therefore not honest peacebrokers.

Someone asked. Is there political tension in Zambia…yes…can post something in next article.
