DEPUTY Chief Justice Michael Musonda says the remains of the late chief justice Irene Mambilima is expected to arrive in the country soon.

According to a memorundum issued to the Law Association of Zambia and the media, Justice Musonda said arrangements to transport the body of Justice Mambilima are underway.

The deputy chief justice has since urged mourners to comply with pandemic heath guidelines and stick to the restricted number of 50 people.

“Following the announcement by His Excellency Edgar Lungu, the President of the Republic of Zambia on the untimely passing of her Ladyship justice Irene C. Mambilima, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt yesterday Sunday June 20, 2021, allow me to convey my deepest
condolences to the family of the late Hon.Chief Justice, the jdiciary and the entire legal fraternity,” Judge Musonda said.

“I wish to advise that arrangements to transport the remains of the Hon. Chief justice are underway. Given the large number of anticipated mourners, the Judiciary, in liaison with Cabinet office are putting in place the detailed funeral programme. In the meantime, visitations to the funeral house at No. 24 Tito Road, Rhodes Park, will be restricted to not more than 50 people at any given time.”

Justice Musonda said Books of Condolences have been opened at the Supreme Court front lawn and the funeral house and those who wish to pass their messages of condolences can do so on June 22, 2021, at 09:00 hours to
the date of burial.

He also directed that the passing of personal condolences to close family members of the late chief justice will be restricted, and subjected to clearance with Judiciary public relations officer Kalumba Slavin.

“As the burial arrangements are being awaited, I request that we all remain calm and prayerful at this difficult time,” said justice Musonda.
