LET’S TIGHTEN OUR BELTS TIGHTER – ECL

ZAMBIANS should tighten their belts even tighter with the latest increase in fuel increase to K36 but if the UPND strongly believes that increasing the prices of gasoline to K40 will make the lives of Zambians better, let them continue, former President Edgar Lungu has said.

And former President Lungu has called on Zambians to resist the temptation of destroying the peace, harmony and freedoms the country has been enjoying in the last 60 years in the face of deep economic tribulations caused by the poor management of the country by those governing.

Former President Lungu says with the latest increase in fuel prices and electricity tariffs when workers across the country are expected to celebrate their International Labour Day, it was his hope that the worst could be over or indeed his fear that the worst is in fact yet to come https://epaper.dailynationzambia.com/public/

  1. Promises, promises, promises.
    1. If you fail to reduce cost of living= You are on your own.
    2. If you fail to reduce mealie meal to K50= you are on your own.
    3. If you fail to reduce fuel to K12/l= you are on your own.
    4. If you fail to reduce dollar to K10/1usd= you are on your own.
    5. If you fail to reduce fertilizer to K250/50kg bag= you are on your own.

    • Didnt PweeFu tell us more money in our pockets? Clearly in “OUR” they meant “THEIRS” cause kasaka ka ndalamba and “crumbs” seem to have been for them alone not all of us….sounds like a “Promise to me”

  2. Edgar is used to saying that even during his rule. He once told Zambians to tighten their belts instead of finding a solution to a problem.

  3. Not a very wise statement from a man whose economic policies were unsustainable. He didnt pay debts and wanted to continue borrowing….until when?
He may understand law but clearly he doesnt understand how money works. Government like any fruit tree, will run out of fruits if you shake the fruits from the tree. The ripe ones will fall first. If you continue even the unripe fruit will drop until there is no fruit left.
Clearly, Mr. Lungu and his family dont understand what Government is. Neither do they understand the role of government or how many works. Drinking by luck (DBL) may work at the bar among those that enjoy your company. But you cant run a country or a household by DBL priniciple…..I wonder how Mrs Lungu ran her household if “she thought those flats were a gift from God”….we all need that kind of God.
