PLANS TO ESTABLISH ZAMBIA NATIONAL DEFENCE UNIVERSITY STILL UNDERWAY

Zambia Army Commander Lieutenant General Sitali Dennis Alibuzwi has revealed that plans to establish the Zambia National Defence University are still underway. He said the Zimbabwe National Defence University will be one of the institutions that is scheduled to be benchmarked during the process of establishing the University.

General Alibuzwi was speaking today at Army Headquarters in Lusaka when he received a delegation from the Zimbabwe National Defence University who are in the country on a study tour.

He said that the process to establish the Zambia National Defence University had faced some challenges in the past, but that the challenges were being addressed.

“The process has been slow; but with a number of (Zambian) Officers you have trained from your college there, we will be able to make it,” General Alibuzwi said.

He said Zambia and Zimbabwe enjoy strong bilateral and historical ties that date back to pre-colonial period. He added that the Zambia Defence Force cherishes the cordial relationship it enjoys with the Zimbabwe Defence Force.

“I am certain that the study tour of Zambia will foster our relationship so that we can explore more areas of military co-operation based on mutual understanding of our needs,” General Alibuzwi told the Zimbabwean delegation.

He pointed out that a number of Zambia Defence Force Officers have trained in Zimbabwe at strategic and operational levels of warfare. He hoped that training exchange programmes between Zambia and Zimbabwe will grow from strength to strength in the quest to prepare Senior Officers for higher responsibility in the Security Sector as well as Public Policy Affairs.

And the Zimbabwe National Defence University Commandant, Air Vice Marshal Michael Moyo said Zimbabwe cherishes the relationship it has with Zambia. He said the bond between Zambia and Zimbabwe is very strong, and is highly cherished by both countries.

He said Zambia shed blood for the liberation of Zimbabwe, and that the bond between the two countries will forever be cherished.

Meanwhile, Malawi Defence Force has thanked the Zambia Defence Force for helping it establish its Defence Command and Staff College.

Speaking at Army Headquarters today when he paid a courtesy call on Zambia Army Commander, Malawi Defence Command and Staff College Commandant Brigadier General Luke Mwetseni Yetala said Zambia has experience in running a Defence Command and Staff College, and that it is one of the countries Malawi is relying upon to share its expertise.

And Zambia Army Commander Lieutenant General Sitali Dennis Alibuzwi assured the Malawi Defence Command and staff College Commandant that the Zambia Army will render every possible support to help in developing the College.

State Counsel (SC)

State Counsel (SC)
By Dickson Jere

President Hakainde Hichilema has today conferred the Rank and Dignity of State Counsel (SC) on Justice Minister Mulambo Haimbe and therefore took Oath of Office at a swearing-in ceremony at State House. This is just a second step in becoming State Counsel – the Minister will now await for a Call-Day to be admitted to the Inner Bar by the Chief Justice to complete the process. Congratulations are in order to my friend Hon. Haimbe for taking what we call “Silk” in legal parlance. He will henceforth be required to wear Silk gowns and long ceremonial wigs! His legal fees, when he goes back in private practice, will be higher than the rest! More money in his pocket.
It is an well deserved achievement!

The law – Legal Practitioners Act – permits the President of Zambia to appoint not more than three State Counsel every year. Those intending to be State Counsel apply and there is a process of vetting which includes the Law Association of Zambia and the judiciary. Ideally p, candidate must be someone who has distinguished himself in the practice of law.

However, the law also provides that certain office holders should be conferred with the rank and dignity of State Counsel. These are Attorney-General, Solicitor-General and Director of Public Prosecutions. Before the law changed, holders of these offices were never entitled by right to be SC – that is one Chilupe who served as Attorney-General under the Frederick Chiluba government was never SC. Debate abound whether this should be continued or not but suffice to note that Attorney General is leader of the Bar and therefore makes sense for office holder to be SC.

By convention , only litigation lawyers have ended up being conferred with the the SC title. This has triggered debate as to whether an accomplished legal scholar – without Courtroom experience – should also be entitled to be admitted as State Counsel. We have renowned lawyers such as Muna Ndulo who has taught so many and his books are must read for every law student at undergraduate. Should such be entitled to be State Counsel? What about those who have practiced law in-house as corporate lawyers or indeed company secretaries and have contributed to the growth of law and jurisprudence in Zambia?

You see, State Counsel is senior most position within the legal fraternity. It takes precedence over the other lawyers and you are accorded the highest respect – and State Counsel cannot appear alone but with junior counsel as part of mentorship. So what happens when a State Counsel is appointed Puisne Judge? Should they carry the title? Judiciary hierarchy of precedence is different from lawyers. Whilst lawyers follow State Counsel and number of years at the Bar, the judiciary follow seniority of the Court. Simply, a judge State Counsel in the High Court is junior to a Judge non-State Counsel in the Supreme Court.

Back to Haimbe.
It appears precedence is being created by convention that a lawyer minister of Justice should also be State Counsel. This was started in the PF administration when Justice Minsters Wynter Kabimba, SC and Dr. Ngosa Simbyakuka, SC were conferred the title of SC. It makes sense from the point of view that Minister is “first among equals” in the ministry and therefore cannot be boss of two State Counsel when he is also senior lawyer!
Congratulations to the newest Silk in town Hon. Mulambe Haimbe, SC, MP

You Know You Are Living A Miraculous Life When Others Wonder Or Speculate On How You Manage- Chilufya Tayali

YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING A MIRACULOUS LIFE WHEN OTHERS WONDER OR SPECULATE ON HOW YOU MANAGE
By Chilufya Tayali

When month-end approaches, some of us are worried about our financial obligations. We start thinking and stressing how we will get by. Trust me, I know the feeling to an extent of wanting to commit suicide, but I want to tell you that, there is no need to weigh yourself down, look up to God.

If you read the Gospel of Matthew 8:19, “A scribe approached and said to Jesus, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.””

But, Jesus’ responded him saying, “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head” (Matthew 8:20).

This response sound rather rude and ungrateful on the part of Jesus and I am sure, if it were in politics, the person would go away cursing that politician who answered like that.

However, what Jesus is really trying to say is, “Are you truly ready and willing to follow me no matter what?” In other words, Jesus wants to illustrate to the scribe that the choice to follow Him is a commitment to travel down a road that is risky only in the sense that following Jesus requires complete trust in Him.

It is like in marriage, when you commit yourself to a person, you can’t be sure what will come or what you will go through – it’s a risk. If you are not ready to take a risk with someone, don’t get married, because all that you may see in a person today, may not be there tomorrow.

We will not be told, ahead of time, where our Lord will lead and what He will ask of us. Rather, when we unreservedly choose to follow Jesus, we are putting our trust in Him as a person and are telling Him that we embrace His will no matter what it is. This level of trust is the key to what Jesus wants.

As long as you are a child of God and you believe in Him, you need not to kill yourself with stress, God will come in and help you somehow. TOTAL TRUST.

Some people worry about my welfare on my account, and they ask, “Tayali what do you do?” but let them worry, on my part, I am good, because I have total trust in God.

You know you are living a miraculous life when others wonder how you manage, because miracles are wondrous and mysterious.

Look around my life, there are so many amazing things and you speculate, because you have no faith that, God can do wonders for anyone including for yourself.

DON’T WORRY, TRUST IN GOD AND HE WILL DO IT FOR YOU, HAVE A BLESSED DAY!

LET US CELEBRATE JAMES NDAMBOS OF THIS WORLD

“He is a philanthropist that loves his country”

By Correspondent

We must celebrate our own successful entrepreneurs unconditionally. In the next few days all roads lead to Choma for an event whose magnitude has never been seen before. At least 3000 people of extraordinary means and backgrounds will converge to party , celebrate and spend. The economy of Choma will definitely benefit from the high intensity tourist event. The focal point of this event will be one James Ndambo .

This name has been reverberating in our ears for the past few months and will reach a crescendo as the main event unfolds probably to hysterical proportions. Therein lies the danger for James Ndambo . Our society does not easily embrace success or good works without suspicion.

Questions abound….
How did he make his money?
Why is he doing this?
Does he want to be President?
Is he a Satanist?
Is he Zambian?
Who is his sponsor?

In the next few months James Ndambo will be vilified and not praised or applauded.

The worst backlash will be from politicians and pseudo praise singers who will see in James Ndambo a person flaunting his wealth to shame others who claim to be millionaires and have not provided any meaningful developments in their villages or towns where they come from.

From the time James Ndambo became a businessman 30 years ago, he has built clinics. Hospitals, schools, roads, Churches. He has helped individuals with medical bills, he has helped widows and orphans . He has helped fellow entrepreneurs in trouble. James has not only done this in Zambia but wherever he has been. In English he is called a Philanthropist .

James is now a marked man in our society because his good deeds makes others look like talkers and just people who show off. James has shown us that no matter how much money you make or cattle you have you can only eat so much, you can only drive one car at a time , you can only live in one house at a time but you can share your wealth and uplift others so that you receive more blessings.

Let us celebrate James and many others out there who are successful .

Zamtel up for sale, foreign equity partner found

Zamtel up for sale, foreign equity partner found A senior official at state run telecoms firm Zamtel has revealed that government has put the company up for sale.

Acting Zamtel Chief Executive Officer Joshua Malupenga told a special virtual staff meeting last week that government has already found an equity partner to run the company.

Mr. Malupenga did not disclose the name or origin of the equity partner but stated that it was a foreign firm.

The meeting was held two days after Science and Technology Minister Felix Mutati revealed during a tour of Zamtel House that the entity was loss making and that government had no intentions of recapitalising the company.

A source who attended the meeting explained that the meeting was convened to brief workers and explain the implications of Mr. Mutati’s statement.

“The meeting was cordial but tense. The Acting CEO went straight into subject and told us that a decision had already been taken and we have to be ready for the changes that will come with the new equity partner. Job losses are inevitable,” the source said.

The source revealed that according to Mr. Malupenga, government wants the new equity partner to come in before the August first anniversary of its reign.

“The target is August, they want the process quickened because Zamtel is making losses and is now a burden,” the source added.

Mutati recently disclosed that Zamtel is a loss-making venture with about 90 percent of its revenue being utilized for administrative expenses.

Mr Mutati said government will however, not recapitalize Zamtel because it has other priorities it intends to spend its resources such as funding the teacher and health-workers recruitment, Constituency Development Fund and youth empowerment.

Mr Mutati said estimates show that Zamtel currently needs a sum of US$265 million in order to survive as a company by way of investing in its co-networks, infrastructure and other business support services.

Mr Mutati said this is in exception of a staggering debt of around K3 billion and the over $500 million owed to Lapgreen, without taking into account other liabilities.

He said Zamtel as a company has a deficit on working capital of around K1 billion with its balance sheet unable to support programs such as maintenance of current infrastructure, expansion and modernization, a key issue requiring to be addressed urgently.

Mr Mutati said no matter how well-written a letter requesting funding may be, government is unable to finance Zamtel because there is no resource envelope at Ministry of Finance.

He said Zamtel now needs to find an answer to its insolvency beginning with where it will find the $265 million required for survival.

He said the Minister of Finance has his hands tied for him to begin financing Zamtel’s operations as he has to deliver value to the people.

“If it means we need to cut some limbs in order to save the life of Zamtel, so be it because that is where the solution for Zamtel lies. Let’s not take it as an easy conversation” the minister told Zamtel Acting Managing Director Joshua Malupenga.

PF should give us time to sweep the mess they left – Mweetwa

PF should give us time to sweep the mess they left – Mweetwa

By Thomas Ngala

THOSE who are saying we should stop referring to PF it’s like asking people to stop talking about the devil when the devil is busy tempting people to join his kingdom of hell, Cornelius Mweetwa has said.

Addressing the media at the party secretariat in Lusaka on Friday, the UPND spokesperson said people should not ask the ruling party to stop talking about the opposition PF.

Mweetwa said this following remarks by PF media director Antonio Mwanza who charged that UPND has failed to govern and has instead continued to blame everything on PF.

Mweetwa, who is also Southern Province minister, castigated Mwanza saying he has no credibility to be the one to say the UPND has failed because he cannot be trusted.

He said Mwanza was amongst the people who championed the PF propaganda, made the party unpopular and be rejected by the Zambians.

“And let me make this clear and categorical. Those who are saying we should stop referring to PF is like asking people to stop talking about the devil when the devil is busy tempting people to join his kingdom of hell. So when the devil stops tempting the people, who will talk about the devil? PF should stop talking the way they are talking,” Mweetwa said. “They must be humble enough to realise that they have been rejected by the people after 10 years of governance and economic mismanagement leading to the kind of degradation we are witnessing the consequences of now. So for as long as the effects of the decisions and actions that they took when they were in office continue to manifest, and affect the people of this country, we shall remind the people that this equation of cause….effect relationship, the PF has a role to play. So stop asking us to stop talking about PF.”

He said the UPND would stop talking about PF when the opposition party stops talking about the ruling party.

“…wanting us to look bad for the consequences of their bad decisions…when they leave mess, they should give us time to sweep the mess they have left in this country so that we can make progress,” Mweetwa said.

He said people who brutalised citizens should not be allowed to shout as if they are saints.

Mweetwa added that PF needed to repent.

And Mweetwa said the maize price set by the Food Reserve Agency for this year is transitional.

“This price of K160 from K150 is a transitional price. We have just formed government, and we found a broken economy which has been broken for 10 years and we can’t fix it in 10 months. We may not yet be at our best yet in terms of delivering certain deliverables that we promised the people. To the farmers out there, this is a transitional price and we are very hopeful that going forward in the next crop harvest seasons, the price will be better,” he said. “But we must also indicate that even at a K160, the monetary value for a K160 today is better than what it was 10 months ago. In August last year, a K160 would have amounted to $6. Today, K160 amounts to $10. So what a K160 would not buy in August last year can buy now. The power of the currency has been improved, we are making progress.”

Mweetwa also mentioned that there must be a commercial market for maize as he advised farmers not to make FRA the ultimate buyer of their produce.

He said President Hakainde Hichilema has been up and down opening the regional market for the farmers adding that FRA buys for national food security.

Commenting on the trips that President Hichilema has been undertaking, Mweetwa said the trips are very important as they help in repairing Zambia’s image internationally.

Ndola woman divorces hubby after he lied about having property before marriage

0

AFTER on six months into marriage, a Ndola woman has decided to file for divorce from her husband after finding out he has no property to his name.

Clara Nakamba 23, told the Kabushi local court that she was seeking divorce from Mathews Kashiya , 30 after her dreams of having sofa’s and a stove were not fulfilled.

She told court she was disappointed and decided to walk away from her marriage because Kashiya lied to her while in courtship about having property.

Nakamba told court that after the wedding day she discovered that her husband had no properties attached to his name like he told her before the two got married.

“My husband’s family lied that they would buy a sofa, fridge and a kitchen unit, but they have kept quiet when he married me. My husband kept quiet about the whole issue and I did not understand why and so I do not want to continue with a man who is a liar, ” she said.

She explained that her husband was a liar and she did not see a reason as to why she should continue being married to him .

Nakamba said she had lost love and interest in him because of the same property issues and wanted out of the marriage.

In his defence, Kashiya told the court that problems in their marriage started after he showed her goods he was selling and buying.

He said his wife did not understand that things he was showing her were for his business and not for their entertainment.

Kashiya said he was open from the start of their relationship and he told her the fridge and the sofa’s were for sell.

Kashiya told the court that he still loved his wife and he used to show her all the business transactions which he made.

But in submission Nakamba told the court that all she wanted was to divorce her husband.

Passing judgment Presiding senior Magistrate John Kabwe sitting with senior Magistrate Emelda Masuwa granted Divorce without compansation to the couple citing that the two have stayed on separation for a month and there was no proper reason for divorce.

State house promotes gay rights…malice boomerangs – M’membe

State house promotes gay rights
…malice boomerangs – M’membe

By Staff Reporter

SOCIALIST Party president Fred M’membe says
when it comes to allegations of being involved in gay activities, “at least two names constantly come up from State House”.
“Again, we emphasise that if the UPND really wants to know who is involved with gay activities and issues in this they should start with itself and State House,” Dr M’membe said. “So if one is looking for gays and defenders, protectors and promoters of gay rights, the starting point should be State House. And this is the problem with malice, it boomerangs.”

He noted that the UPND is a member of the African Liberal Network (ALN), which is also a member of the Liberal International (LI).
The LI Human Rights Committee Bulletin 4th Edition – LGBTI Rights states: “In the year since Liberal International launched its Human Rights Bulletin, the final edition of the publication for 2015 – which has attracted contributions from senior ministers, UN diplomats, and prominent activists – has been released, with a focus in this edition on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) rights. Contributors from Africa, Asia, and Latin America have written and been interviewed about their experiences in fighting for a cause at the heart of all liberals – equality. In this fourth edition of the Bulletin, politicians, activists, and advisors offered insights and practical advice for overcoming the challenges of standing up for minority groups in countries and across continents.

Writing about the landmark human rights manifesto for Africa, adopted in 2014 by member parties of LI cooperating organisation, Africa Liberal Network (ALN), ALN vice-president Rosemary Machua, of the Kenyan liberals, ODM (LI member), emphasised the importance of having a ‘human rights framework for Africa, by Africans’.

The fact that sexual orientation is included in the declaration is a tremendous achievement for African liberals. It firmly entrenches our view that LGBTI rights are important, recognised, and above all that they are human rights, added Mrs. Machua.
Addressing the political challenges associated with supporting minority groups in conservative societies, the Director of the Department for Women’s Rights in the DPP (LI full member), Taiwan, Dr. Ching-yi Lin, spoke of her party’s unwavering commitment to LGBTI communities, changing social attitudes and, eventually, being able to bring about tangible changes in government.
Chair of the LI LGBTI Working Group, Frank van Dalen, conducts an exclusive interview with government LGBTI rights adviser, activist and journalist, Enrique Torre Molina, who shares his views on what more politicians can do to promote the respect and advancement of the LGBTI community.

Speaking in Mexico City, Enrique describes the situation for LGBTI people in Mexico and across Latin America more broadly and the role of young people in creating spaces to advance LGBTI rights adding that liberal values are the “essence” of the equality movement.”

Dr M’membe noted that “these are views from the organisations to which the UPND belongs”.
He said if the UPND “really wants to know who is dealing with the defenders, protectors and promoters of gay rights, they should start with State House”.

Dr M’membe recalled that on September 29, 2021 President Hakainde Hichilema hosted an ambassador of gay rights at State House, Tony Blair – a former British prime minister.

“Mr Hichilema held talks with Mr Blair on the possible collaboration between Zambia and the Tony Blair Institute for global change. Mr Hichilema said the institute is doing commendable work and hopes it can assist Zambia,” Dr M’membe recalled. “Mr Blair said his institute stands ready to help the new dawn administration. Mr Blair has been recognised as one of the top gay icons of the past three decades, along with figures such as Boy George, Sir Ian McKellen and Barbra Streisand. Gay Times said Blair’s status as an ambassador of gay rights was undeniable. Mr Blair, as British prime minister, introduced laws recognising trans people, civil partnerships, banned employers from sacking employees because of who they love and made homophobia a hate crime.”
He also noted that US President Joe Biden, on May 4, 2012 told NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ anchor David Gregory that: “I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women, and heterosexual men and women marrying another are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties. Who do you love? And will you be loyal to the person you love? And that’s what people are finding out is what all marriages, at their root, are about, whether they’re marriages of lesbians or gay men or heterosexuals.”

“This is the President of United States today, the current occupant of the White House. And early in his presidency Mr Hichilema was a guest at the White House – something they were very proud of, were boasting about! This week Mr Hichilema visited European Union Parliament in Brussels and addressed it. Gay rights in the European Union are protected under the European Union’s (EU) treaties and law. Same-sex sexual activity is legal in all EU states and discrimination in employment has been banned since 2000,” he said.

“The Treaty on European Union, in its last version as updated by the Treaty of Lisbon in 2007 and in force as of 2009, makes the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union legally binding for the member state of the European Union and the European Union itself. In turn, Article 21 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union includes an anti-discrimination provision that states that ‘any discrimination based on any ground such as […] sexual orientation shall be prohibited.’

Furthermore, the Treaty on the functioning of the European Union provides in Articles 10 that the European Union has a positive duty to combat discrimination (among other things) on the grounds of sexual orientation and provides in Article 19 ways for the Council and the European Parliament to actively propose pass legislation to do so. These provisions were enacted by the Treaty of Amsterdam in 1999.”

Dr M’membe said in June 2010, the Council of the European Union adopted a non-binding toolkit to promote LGBT people’s human rights.

“In June 2013, the Council upgraded it to binding LGBTI Guidelines instructing EU diplomats around the world to defend the human rights of LGBTI people. So if one is looking for gays and defenders, protectors and promoters of gay rights, the starting point should be State House,” said Dr M’membe. “And this is the problem with malice, it boomerangs.” S

‘I’ve failed miserably’ at monogamy and relationships – Nick Cannon

0

Television host and actor, Nick Cannon has said that he has “failed miserably” at monogamy.

41-year-old Cannon who spoke to Shelley Wade of New York City radio station 94.7 The Block, admitted he hasn’t always been faithful but is hopeful he will settle down eventually.

The rapper who is expecting a baby with model Bre Tiesi and is rumoured to have another one on the way with Abby De La Rosa, the mother of his youngest twins said;

“I’ve failed miserably so many times at monogamy and relationships.

“But God ain’t done with me. We’re gonna figure it out.”

Wade pressed Cannon to elaborate on what the “deciding factor” would be in returning to the altar, quipping, “because you don’t have a problem getting women, for sure.”

Responding to Wade’s follow-up query, Cannon joked, “I’ve probably had a few mid-life crises.”

He added;

“I’m liking the man that I’m growing into. And I feel like [I’d marry] someone who will understand me and can stand by me … where they’re weak, you’re strong.

“And if I can ever find somebody who knows how to hold me down through all my madness, through all my chaos and toxicity, that’s probably somebody I could rock with for life.”

There’s an impressive range of names that crop up in Cannon’s storied romantic entanglements; from his relationship with Christina Milian in the early- to mid-aughts, to a brief fling with none other than Kim Kardashian in 2006, to a whirlwind romance with Mariah Carey in 2008 that quickly escalated into nuptials that same year.

His marriage with the “Fantasy” singer, 52, is his only one to date. In 2011, the now-ex-couple welcomed fraternal twins Monroe and Moroccan.

Since finalizing his divorce with Carey in 2016, however, Cannon has apparently taken to rapid-fire date-cycling through a series of various women — and has fathered numerous additional children.

The comedian shares children with model Brittany Bell (son Golden, 5, and daughter Powerful Queen, 1), and DJ Abby De La Rosa, 31 (9-month-old twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir). He also fathered a son with singer Alyssa Scott, 28, though the baby tragically died of brain cancer at just 5 months old.

Additionally, Cannon is also expecting with model Bre Tiesi, 31, and is rumored to be the father of another baby with De La Rosa, who recently announced she’s pregnant again.

“It’s time to embrace my natural face” Woman, 26, gives up shaving and lets her beards grow

0

A 26-year-old woman, who was bullied throughout her teen years for being hairy has finally ditched the razor and embraced her facial hairs and she says she now feels “free”.

Morgan Coleman started to notice hair on her cheeks, chin and neck when she was 11 and spent her childhood and teen years trying to hide the hair.

She says she was trolled by cruel people who would call her ugly, a freak, a man, and transgender.

The bullying damaged her self-confidence so much that Morgan tried everything she could to remove the hair.

She even tried permanent removal through electrolysis but everything failed.

Morgan says that doctors dismissed her concerns until she started to experience menstrual issues and headed to her GP seeking help in 2019.

An ultrasound found a cyst on her ovaries.

Morgan was finally diagnosed with hirsutism (excessive hair growth) and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in January 2021.

Now, the 26-year-old had decided to embrace her natural self after more than 15 years of hiding.

Morgan said: “It’s time to embrace my natural face and, surprisingly, people aren’t as judgmental as you’d think!

“I do struggle with self-confidence – after many years of bullying, it does have an impact on your self-confidence, but I am definitely feeling much more confident since I’ve decided to embrace my natural face.

“I am really at peace with it now. It’s difficult to explain, but I feel free – I wake up and that’s now the last thing I think about, it’s wonderful!

“It was horrible and isolating. Both kids and young adults were very cruel. I was bullied severely for many years. I don’t have many fond memories from my school years.”

She said being in the hospital gave her time to reflect.

Morgan said: “I decided it was time to prioritise my physical and mental health and part of doing that for me was to accept the things I can not change. We are all unique. There is nothing wrong with looking different.”

Since ditching the razors two months ago, Morgan has no regrets over her decision and is loving her new confidence with her facial hair left to grow out.

She says she has experienced “disgusted looks” from strangers but feels freer since embracing her natural face and has no plans to return to remove the hair.

Morgan said: “I enjoy spreading awareness where possible – I am a believer of creating acceptance and normalising facial hair on women is best done by spreading awareness, answering questions and sharing information. PCOS is such a common syndrome.

“I am really at peace with it now. It’s difficult to explain, but I feel free – I wake up and that’s now the last thing I think about, it’s wonderful!”

American Women threaten to go on nationwide s3x strike in protest over abortion ban (photos)

Women in the US are threatening not to have sex with men in protest of the Supreme Court’s decision on Friday, June 24 to illegalize abortion as pro-choice supporters organized rallies all across the US through the weekend.

There has been national outrage especially among liberals following the court’s ruling to overturn women’s federal right to abortions, with 26 states expected to further restrict or outright ban abortions.

Some women on social media are now planning to withhold sex from men ‘until abortion rights are federal law.’

‘Women of America: Take the pledge. Because SCOTUS overturned Roe v. Wade, we cannot take the risk of an unintended pregnancy, therefore, we will not have sex with any man — including our husbands — unless we are trying to become pregnant,’ one Twitter user wrote.

There were also calls for ‘sex strike’ across the country as terms including #SexStrike and #abstinence began trending online.

‘I live in New York and I am DOUBLE FURIOUS with the Supreme Court. I want to find people who are coordinating a mass sex strike. That is our power,’ another woman raged. ‘Women have the power here. No more sex until abortion rights are federal law.’

Another supporter wrote on Twitter: ‘Womxn! Calling for a national #sexstrike No sex with men until women’s rights are codified by law. #Allmen #Underhiseye.’

‘Perhaps a #sexstrike (also known as #abstinence) would help the men folk to be all in on this #womensrights issue,’ another Twitter wrote.

Others posted a graphic that read: #SexStrike. If our choices are denied, so are yours.’

Brianna Campbell, 24, told The New York Post;

‘If you’re a man who won’t get a vasectomy, even though it’s reversible, and you’re not out in the streets fighting for my rights, you do not deserve to have sex with me,’ .

‘I think it’s absolutely valid for us to be withholding the Holy Grail that men seem to think is important,’ Caroline Healey told The Post during a protest in Union Square on Saturday.

‘Why shouldn’t we withhold it if we’re always worried that they’re not going put a condom on, that they’re going take one off after we ask them to,’ she added.

Paul Walker’s daughter, Meadow reveals she had an abortion amid Roe v. Wade ruling

0

Meadow Walker is sharing her own abortion story after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on Friday June 24.

Reacting to the ruling, the 23-year-old daughter of late actor Paul Walker revealed she had an abortion in 2020, at the onset of the pandemic.

Taking to her official social media handle, Meadow shared a lengthy letter to speak out against the decision that strips away women’s human rights of accessing safe abortion. Walker began by writing, ”Today marks a huge setback in history- a profound injustice to women across the United States. There are countless women who have struggled with making the decision to have an abortion.”

The 23-year-old candidly revealed that she got an abortion during the pandemic and fears that many women will now suffer the consequences of moving to another state to get an abortion. ”I too have battled with the choice but in 2020, when the world was collapsing during the pandemic, I sought an abortion.”

Adding that the decision was ‘personal and private’, Meadow further continued, ”I was lucky enough to have a great doctor who supported me through the debilitating process- with their help, I am able to be the happy and healthy person I am today. Now, knowing even more women won’t have the opportunity to seek safe termination and choose their bodies first is absolutely heartbreaking. She concluded on a strong note resonating with thousands of people who are now protesting against the decision by writing, ”Banning abortion doesn’t prevent abortions, it prevents safe abortions.”

The model isn’t the only celebrity who has shared her abortion story after the Supreme Court’s decision.

Abortions have been legal in the United States for almost 50 years under the premise that it’s a person’s protected right to choose what to do with their body.

States now have the power to pass their own laws surrounding abortion, and Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri and South Dakota have already banned the procedure since the decision was announced two days ago.

G7 Summit: G7 leaders announce ban on import of Russian gold, commit to indefinite support for Ukraine

0

The G7 summit in Bavaria, Germany began on Sunday, June 26th with Western Unity in the Ukraine war high on the agenda.

The Group of Seven (G7) is an inter-governmental political forum consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. In addition, the European Union is a ‘non-enumerated member’.

This year the G7 invited Ukraine, India , South Africa, Argentina and Indonesia to participate in the event with Ukraine’s president Volodimir Zelenskyy scheduled to address the summit virtually.

The Leaders of the Group of Seven wealthiest nations (G7) began three days of talks on Sunday in Germany’s Bavarian Alps and one of the first announcements was a $600 billion (€568 billion) infrastructure initiative to help developing countries tackle climate change. The initiative is seen as the West’s response to China’s massive Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

The United States also said the Group of Seven (G7) nations will ban the import of Russian gold with the aim of tightening sanctions screws on Moscow, which on Sunday carried out missile strikes on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv after making territorial gains in the eastern Luhansk region.

Gold exports are a major source of revenue for Russia in terms of their ability to transact with the global financial system.

Last year, they were worth 12.6 billion pounds ($15.45bn) and wealthy Russians have been buying bullion to reduce the financial effect of Western sanctions.

The clampdown is likely to be the most meaningful economic measure against Moscow announced at the G7’s three-day meeting.

“Together, the G7 will announce that we will ban the import of Russian gold, a major export that rakes in tens of billions of dollars for Russia,” President Joe Biden said as the leaders of the world’s wealthiest nations gathered in the Bavarian Alps.

The measure was initially flagged by the United Kingdom as joint action being taken along with fellow G7 members Canada, Japan and the US.

Talking about the new development for under developed nations to counter China’s road and belt initiative that has out a lot of countries especially in Africa into debt, Biden said;

“I want to be clear — this isn’t aid or charity,”. “It’s an investment that will deliver returns for everyone, including the American people and the people of all our nations. It will boost all of our economies.”

The new G7 fund will focus on climate initiatives, among other projects, including a $2 billion solar farm investment in Angola, $320 million for hospital construction in Ivory Coast and $40 million to promote regional energy trade in Southeast Asia.

EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said G7 was offering “sustainable, quality infrastructure” and will be “listening closely to the recipient countries.”

Vladimir Putin to supply nuclear-capable missiles to Belarus to counter ‘aggressive’ West

0

Russia has announced it will transfer nuclear-capable Iskander-M missile systems to its ally Belarus over the coming months.

Russia launched its February 24 invasion in part from Belarusian territory, which borders Ukraine to the north. Throughout the war, Moscow has used Minsk as a satellite base including for many of Russia’s air operations in Ukraine, according to intelligence collected by NATO surveillance planes.

On Saturday, June 25, Ukraine claimed Russian forces had fired multiple missiles on the Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions from Belarus.

Russian President Vladimir Putin speaking on Saturday, told Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting in St. Petersburg the missile systems “can use both ballistic and cruise missiles, both in conventional and nuclear versions,” according to the Kremlin.

The Iskander-M is a Russian-built short-range ballistic missile system that can carry conventional or nuclear warheads with a maximum range of up to 500 kilometers (310 miles), according to Janes Defense.

The weapon uses both optical and inertial guidance systems to strike its targets, hitting them with a range of warheads, such as cluster munitions, vacuum bombs, bunker-busters, and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) warheads, according to the Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance.

In a transcript of the meeting, Lukashenko expressed to Putin his “stress” over what he alleged are flights by United States and NATO planes “training to carry nuclear warheads” close to Belarus’ border.

Lukashenko asked Putin to consider “a mirrored response” to the flights or to convert Russian fighter jets, which are currently deployed to Belarus, to “carry nuclear warheads.”

Putin replied that “there is no need” to do the same thing as the US flights and also suggested Belarus could modify its own Su-25 aircraft to be nuclear-capable instead.

“This modernization should be carried out at aircraft factories in Russia, but we will agree with you on how to do this. And accordingly, start training the flight crew,” Putin said.

The meeting between the Russian and Belarusian leaders came ahead of a week of summits in Europe, where the grinding war in Ukraine — entering its fifth month — will be front and center.

The leaders of Japan, Canada, the US, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, the European Union and host Germany will meet for the Group of 7 on Monday.

Ghislaine Maxwell, ex-lover of Jeffrey Epstein, placed on suicide watch ahead of sentencing

0

Socialite and ex-lover of the late pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell has been placed on suicide watch just days before her sentencing hearing, despite not being suicidal, her attorneys announced.

Maxwell, who was convicted of helping Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse girls, is scheduled to have a sentencing hearing on Tuesday, June 28.

Prosecutors want a sentence of 30 to 55 years for Maxwell, who is 60, after she was previously found guilty on five of six criminal counts.

But in a new request, her attorneys have argued that she does not have access to any legal documents and is unable to adequately prepare for her sentencing.

“Dear Judge Nathan, I write to inform the Court of a recent development which may require postponement of Tuesday’s sentencing proceeding. Yesterday, without having conducted a psychological evaluation and without justification, the MDC placed Ms. Maxwell on suicide watch,” the attorneys said in the letter.

“She is not permitted to possess and review legal documents and is not permitted paper or pen,” they continued. “This has prevented her from preparing for sentencing.”

Epstein died in August 2019, a month after he was placed on suicide watch, while he was awaiting trial. A psychologist took Epstein off of suicide watch some time before he was found hanged in his cell on Aug. 10. Maxwell’s attorneys do not believe she wants to toe the same path.

Her attorneys, who have complained about Maxwell’s detainment before, have contended their client is “not suicidal.”

“Ms. Maxwell was abruptly removed from general population and returned to solitary confinement, this time without any clothing, toothpaste, soap, legal papers, etc. She was provided a ‘suicide smock’ and is given a few sheets of toilet paper on request,” they continued in the letter. “This morning, a psychologist evaluated Ms. Maxwell and determined she is not suicidal.”

“I met with Ms. Maxwell today (after a 97-minute delay following my arrival at the facility). She is not suicidal,” attorney Bobbi C. Sternheim wrote.

Sternheim said Maxwell’s legal representation could motion for an adjournment if they think their client is not properly cared for.

“Currently, she is unable to properly prepare for sentencing,” the lawyer contended. “If Ms. Maxwell remains on suicide watch, is prohibited from reviewing legal materials prior to sentencing, becomes sleep-deprived, and is denied sufficient time to meet with and confer with counsel, we will be formally moving on Monday for an adjournment.”

Eliminating Political Opponents Through The Illusion Of Truth, The Case Of Dr. Chitalu Chilufya!

…as a report by a Parliamentary Committee confirms that the “Honeybee Scandal” was a hoax.

By Mpandashalo Mwewa.

Lusaka – 26th June, 2022.

A report by the Parliamentary Committee on health, community development and social services for the First Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly led by the UPND Member of Parliament for Lukulu East Constituency, Hon. Dr. Christopher Kalila, has stated that Government did not procure defective medical supplies.

The Committee toured selected pharmaceutical manufacturing companies and public health institutions in Lusaka, Central and Copperbelt Provinces in order to appreciate the challenges that the players in the industry were facing, as well as the quality and availability of medical supplies in public health institutions.

Arising from the tour and subsequent stakeholder meetings, the findings of the Committee, according to the report, indicate that:

“On the quality of medicine and medical supplies received, the stakeholders in the public health facilities visited informed the Committee that the medicine and medical supplies received were safe as the World Health Organisation and the Zambia Medicine Regulatory Authority had certified them fit for public consumption, save for the cotton wool received at Ndola Central Hospital, which was under quarantine.”

This is in stark contrast to unverified reports which were circulated by propaganda tabloids stating that the Ministry of Health had procured from Honeybee Pharmacy expired drugs, defective gloves and leaking condoms worth US$17m as the Committee reiterates that all the procured drugs and medical supplies were tested and certified to be safe.

“Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth”, is a law of propaganda. Among psychologists this is known as the “illusion of truth” effect. There was nothing truthful about this story and this write-up seeks to set records right.

The Honeybee scandal started with false allegations that Honeybee Pharmacy Limited (Honeybee) was paid USD$17,000,000. However, the contract was awarded based on good faith and trust because government, through the Ministry of Health (MoH), had no money. Honeybee took the financial burden for all the medical kits supplied to the Zambian government. It supplied 5,000 medical kits at a net worth of USD$3,990,700.

The MoH did not award such a contract to only Honeybee, it had awarded various contracts relating to the supply of health kits within the same emergency supply contract involving two other suppliers which were, Pharmanova and Artemis. These two entities failed to supply without upfront payment leading to the MOH later cancelling the two contracts.

Pharmanova’s contract was worth USD$3,554,100 and Artemis was valued at USD$14,139,450. Honeybee’s priority was the health and safety of their fellow Zambian citizens and provided the medical kits, yet, they were defamed and slandered in the media. Oddly enough, the Auditor General’s report did not mention the contracts awarded to the other two entities who had not supplied any medical kits.

It is evident that the omission was part of the scheme to mislead the nation into believing that Honeybee was single-sourced in a falsified $17m transaction that never happened, with Honeybee being used as a pony in a politically motivated arsenal directed at the former Minister of Health, Dr. Chitalu Chilufya, by his rivals within and outside the government.

This case could help President Hichilema clean up the compromised, and now, completely rotten backbone of the Law Enforcement Agencies. The nation now knows that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) was manipulated in Dr. Chitalu Chilufya’s case! And whoever manipulated the former ACC acting Director General, Rosemary Kuzwayo, to have Dr. Chitalu Chilufya tried in the court of public opinion, must have been powerful enough to have touched other oversight institutions in the similar manner.

Consequently, the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) and the Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) must be thoroughly investigated especially that in the recent past, they have made sensational headlines on falsified reports.

Just why would the News Diggers back unsubstantiated reports by ZABS and Zambia Medicines Regulations Agency (ZAMRA) when its mandate should compel it to question how ZABS tested supposedly defective products without testing equipment, so as to provide the public with verifiable objective content as per our journalism standards?

Also Read: Honeybee Scandal deepens as two ZABS employees who were forced to fake lab results resign. Link: http://bit.ly/2LeFjlH

As for ZABS, just what laboratory did it use in the Honeybee scandal, if any? I had earlier reported that Adeshwnar Meditex PVT. Ltd, one of the suppliers of Honeybee’s contents of the medical kits, questioned the veracity of ZAMRA’s statements on the tests conducted by ZABS.

“With respect to the subject mentioned, we are not in agreement with the allegations put by ZAMRA on the supplied Latex Examination Gloves, and we do not accept the two Test Reports issued by ZABS. In fact, we seriously doubt if Sampling Standards & Inspection protocols provided under ISO 11193:2008, have been followed at the time of conducting the Tests by ZABS. Our company is GMP, CE S& IS0 13485-2016 Certified, with Exports to more than 40 countries and an In House State of Art Laboratory. Our goods have to pass through the entire test Parameters mentioned under ISO 11193:2008 protocol before leaving our factory premises,” read Adeshwnar Meditex Pvt. Ltd. statement that has was availed to me when I was Eagle One – Zambia Editor In Chief.

There’s enough proof that politicians lack political will to outrightly curb the scourge or my investigation on the Honeybee scandal would have reached someone’s table. With a clearly defined unbiased political policy on the eradication of corruption, civil servants would be scared to engage in corruption activities.

The evidence on the table clearly shows that the “Honeybee Scandal” was a hoax that was aimed at:

  1. Fixing Dr. Chitalu Chilufya who was widely seen as a potential replacement for the former Republican President Edgar Lungu owing to his efficient and effective handling of the pandemic. Of all the PF infights that we witnessed, this was the largest battle.
  2. Discredit Honeybee Pharmacy thereby forcing the then Patriotic Front led government into canceling Honeybee’s contract with hopes of having the cancelled tender awarded to the pharmaceutical Cartel in Zambia.

But probably of great interest is reflecting on who has benefitted from fighting Dr. Chitalu Chilufya, extinguishing his political career by those who could not face him at the table of finding solutions to our various socio economic development challenges.

Now that the dust has settled, it’s time for Zambia to shift its attention to Dr. Chitalu Chilufya’s achievements in the health sector, the missing leadership that has now plunged the sector in a national health crisis. Politics should not be a self preservation tool but a vehicle for development.

NEVERS MUMBA TWO TERMS EXPIRES, HE IS AN ORDINARY MEMBER OF THE MMD

MMD loyalists want Nevers Mumba to step aside

By DOROTHY CHISI

MMD party loyalists say they want sweeping changes in the party’s top brass and have called on president Nevers Mumba to step aside.

Leader of Operation Save Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) Gunston Sichilima said plans for the party’s convention must be expedited and a new leader elected.

Mr Sichilima who was speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka yesterday alleged that Dr Mumba’s tenure expired on May 25, 2022 and no one should go round with the mantle of leader before the convention is held.
“ We are aware that Dr Nevers Mumba has been bragging during his meetings with party officials that the court cases which are currently running involving him and others on party leadership wrangles and the contempt of court are not going anywhere,” he said.

He said that it was only the highest organ at the convention that the amendments of the party constitution could be changed.
He also warned the UPND of entertaining Dr Mumba’s overtures of wanting to work with the ruling party.
Mr Sichilima said Dr Mumba was the only leader under MMD who had never held a convention where new leaders could be ushered into office.

And Rev Silvia Nawa the immediate past national mobilisation chairperson under Dr Mumba’s faction said MMD was not for auction to the highest bidder.

Rev Nawa said the party was a movement whose tenets were embedded in its party constitution.
She said members had the right to demand for what was enshrined in the party constitution and Dr Mumba had no right to drag the party into any alliance with any party.

When contacted for comment to address some of the accusations raised against him Dr Mumba referred the Sunday Times to the national spokesperson.

“That is an old story but let the national party spokesperson respond to you,” he said.
The spokesperson Cephas Mukuka said Mr Sichilma’s concerns lacked merit and verity.
“What is he talking about? We held a convention last year. Our next is slated for 2026 and this is too early to start talking of 2026. and for your information the MMd has had a historical working relationship with UPND for a long time.

“Sichilima must face reality and accept Dr Mumba as our president. Besides, Sichilima is not even our member,” Dr Mukuka added.

ZAMBIA WILL ONLY DEVELOP IF WE CELEBRATE OUR OWN MILLIONAIRES

Seen Mr Ndambo Ndambo trending. Got to meet him in my capacity as Mayor. We discussed partnership in modernizing the Chibolya street goats and pigs abattoir. He was willing to invest in a state of the art cold storage in partnership with LCC on electronic payments of bills. It was not popular with cadres and the big wigs that backed them. They preferred cash payments of all council bills. Lol. Despite majority Councillors approving and as was the case with all initiatives we brought up, it was blocked and nothing got implemented.

I have met Bill Gates before and at the time the World’s richest man. Then in 2019 got to meet Mr Ndambo Ndambo and now reading he is Zambia’s richest man.

In my meetings with both, one thing still resonates with me. They are very down to earth. Bills Gates was taking hand written notes as I spoke, Mr Ndambo not only welcomed me at his office door but had his entire team of staff (mostly whites) attend our board room meeting. He kept referring to me as Sir and had to remind him that he was my senior citizen and it was me to call him Sir.

After our official meeting, he invited my entourage for lunch at his home in the lavish suburb of Rosebank or Sandton I think. His wife, all children and their spouses interacted with us on a very good meal except there was no ‘tu French wine’.

A devoted Christian and family man he is. He had his businesses politically destabilized in Zambia 🇿🇲 some 20 years ago or so. Little did they know they were transplanting him into neighboring countries to grave them with his business acumen.

Every attempt to reinvest in Zambia gets thwarted and one hopes this time around Zambia will get to benefit from his vast business investments and get to create additional jobs for our youths.

His company (Africa Union) has partners with Congo DR to manage the scanning and electronic payment systems for most of their borders in Congo DR. I have always wondered why ZRA cannot partner with his company to modernize the chaotic Kasumbalesa border which to my estimate Zambia loses about $2M worth of revenue on a daily basis.

I wonder how many Ndambo Ndambos are out in the diaspora and not entered their own Zambian market because they get frustrated back.

Mr Ndambo is currently one of the ‘Big Boys’ of Africa and well known and respected by the AU. Yes he travels by his own jet if that’s a measure of being wealthy.
Let’s cerebrate our own millionaire before we can embrace foreign ones.

David is 25-years-old. I am aware that he travelled but he told me he was going to school abroad – Brother of boy taken to UK by the Ekweremadus speaks

Jonathan Ukpo Nwanmini, younger brother of David Ukpo Nwanmini, an alleged victim of organ trafficking involving Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife in the United Kingdom, has reacted to the controversy surrounding his brother’s age.

While David’s passport shared online revealed he is 22-years-old in contrast to him allegedly telling Metropolitan police detectives that he is 15-years-old, his brother told Sunday Vanguard that he is 25-years-old.

He also disclosed that David told him he’s traveling abroad to school. Jonathan said;

”David is my elder brother because we are both of the same father with different mothers and we hail from Ebonyi State. I will be 22 years old by next month and David is 25 years old. I am aware that he travelled because he told me. He did not disclose the country he was travelling to. He simply told me he was going to school abroad.

“After some months of not hearing from him, I got his number from his girlfriend and called him. I asked about his studies and work.

“He said it was fine but that he was not working yet as he needed to go to school first before he could be given a working paper. I told him about our dad who was not feeling fine.

“This was the conversation we had this month since January when he travelled. He was staying with us here in Ikotun before he left. We both sell phone accessories. We spoke last week. We even spoke again this week.”

Another businessman in Ikotun who pleaded anonymity also told Sunday Vanguard that;

“David left Nigeria in January. He told us that someone promised to sponsor his education in the UK. He never mentioned the name of the person, but from what I have read online, it might be that the person was an intermediary between David and the former Deputy Speaker.”

Recall that on Thursday June 23, the Metropolitan Police announced that Ekweremadu and his wife were charged to court over the allegation of bringing a child with the name David to the UK for organ harvesting.

Beating Drums For The Return Of ECL

0

BEATING DRUMS FOR THE RETURN OF ECL.

By Joseph Chirwa

  1. Introduction

I have noted with concern and disdain calls by some senior Patriotic Front (PF) and PF-aligned opposition political party members who are calling for a comeback of former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu (ECL) to active politics.

The calls are made in such a reckless and counterproductive manner by suggesting that out of millions of Zambians ECL is the only saviour of Zambia after the perceived failure of President Hakainde Hichilema (HH).

  1. It is game over for ECL

President Lungu ruled Zambia for close to seven years. He was a beneficiary of an unfinished legacy of Michael Chilufya Sata (MCS) who fought against all odds from 2001 to 2011 to oust the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD). MCS was a veteran politician who contested the presidency four times, of which he lost three. ECL himself contested three elections, winning two and losing one. He has done his service for Zambia and it is time for him to leave the mantle to others and transition into a statesman. He is the only living former president whom HH and other future presidents may use for high level national duties and diplomatic relations.

Unnecessarily casting ECLs name into the political arena is counterproductive. It puts his name into unnecessary ridicule. It is game over for him and the people who are casting his name into politics are doing so for selfish individual reasons. The PF cannot survive by using ECLs name for political mileage. The PFs time is gone and done. This is so because it has refused to rebrand. It has refused to cast away its demons. It has refused to repent. It has refused to walk on a new path. It has refused to learn from its loss in 2021. It is merely banking on the failure of policy of the new dawn administration. It hopes it will benefit from the anger of the general populace but with no plan of its own.

  1. What will ECL do that he didn’t do in 7 years?

ECL has his own legacy. He will be known as a president who transformed Zambia into a modern country. He is the architect of an unprecedented infrastructural development. He oversaw a Zambia with a stable food security. Farmers countrywide miss his government that provided farming inputs in a timely and orderly fashion. He accomplished what he could. He has to be applauded for his achievements. The icing on the cake was his voluntary surrender of power. He continued the practice of all our former presidents who surrendered power peacefully. He is a stateman who has his name marked in indelible ink in the hearts of many Zambians. But his rule had its own failures that made Zambians withdraw their mandate from him in 2021. Zambia was characterised by unsustainable and skyrocketing debt, perceived grand corruption, police heavy-handedness, and thuggery among his party’s cadres that resulted in looting of resources in bus stations and markets; leaving local authorities with chronic financial malnutrition. Many believe that he was a weak leader as a result of his perceived failure to discipline his officials both in government and in the party. This cost him elections. He has done it all and there is nothing left for him to offer to the country in the capacity of Republican President. He has a lot to offer in his eternal capacity as former president. He is a resource that can be used by both HH and future presidents. The PF can equally use him in its ‘Council of Elders’ in an advisory capacity. To suggest his comeback is folly of the highest kind and must not be entertained as this will blight his legacy.

  1. Let us honour our former presidents

Zambian governments must move away from toxic hatred of former presidents. We must move away from the seed planted by Frederick Chiluba who persecuted Kenneth Kaunda. We must move away from the seed of Levy Mwanawasa who persecuted Frederick Chiluba. We must move away from the seed of MCS who persecuted Rupiah Bwezani Banda. Let us start treating former presidents with dignity and respect. The seed of tormenting former presidents is the one that fuels the desire for people to wish for comebacks. It is the seed that creates dictatorships. Presidents must not fear for their peace, safety and security after office. This forces them not to cede power as we can see from other African countries. The ‘beef’ between sitting presidents and former presidents is counterproductive. It punctures national unity. It derails governments from pursuing the issues that deserve attention. It is time President HH and ECL bury the hatchet for the sake of national unity. It is time also for the PF to give chance to HH to rule. This does not mean that the PF abdicates its constitutional responsibility of providing checks and balances to the government of the day. The United Party for National Development (UPND) should also own up. It must accept criticism. It must not behave like the PF in power. It must not expect every Zambian to be a praise singer. We are not in a one party state. Diversity of views is part of multi-partism.

  1. Conclusion

The message from the office of the 6th president is comforting. This is to the extent that ECL has no intention of coming back to active politics and recontesting the 2026 general elections. This is leadership and I pray it is as it was said. We have a lot of people who can succeed President HH. These are found in the UPND, PF, Socialist Party, PeP, EFF and other political parties. This includes those parties not yet born. Let ECL rest as he has run his race. Let us respect him and show gratitude for what he has done for this country.

Chirwa is the author of “Judging a President” under the pen name Kasenengwa Wanu. Judging a President was a book that detailed the achievements of ECL when he was President. He simply tells it as it is.

HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE BY UPND WORRIES CHURCH BODY

HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE BY UPND WORRIES CHURCH BODY

THE Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has expressed concern at the increasing abuse of Human Rights in Zambia under the UPND government.

CCZ secretary general Fr. Emmanuel Chikoya has cited the latest abuse of human right by the tourture of the three youths in Luapula Province by military officers.

“…wishes to add its voice to the growing concerns around the torture and mistreatment of the three boys that depicted as insulting the Republican President.

While having zero tolerance of insulting and vulgar language against the elders we strongly condemn the abuse of the suspects by the Zambia Army Officers,” Fr. Chikoya the Presidential appointee to the Human Rights Commission said.

He said matters of maintaining law and order should be left to the Zambia Police.

Fr. Chikoya has also expressed concern with comments attributed to a senior military officer who saw nothing wrong in the conduct of his junio officers tourturing people.

“We note with concern comments attributed to a senior military official indicating tolerance and endorsement of the soldiers’ behaviour, this will lead to a culture of impunity by military personnel in the name of defending the Commander in Chief. Law breakers must without exception be dealt with according to the law of the land,” he said.

Fr. Chikoya has since urged to leave matter of punishing law breakers to the courts as they are the only institutions in the country to prescribe the form of punishment upon convinction.

“We call upon the government not to allow a system where law enforcers become law breakers.According to Article 15 of the Constitution of Zambia,’’ No person shall be subjected to torture, or inhuman or degrading punishment or other like treatment.’’ It is against this background that in agreement statement by the Human Rights Commission that we denounce physical torture as seen in the video by the soldiers.

We further are appalled by a growing pattern in human rights violation various stakeholders such as employers like in the case of the Mkushi farm workers who died a needless death, violation of a maid by Chinese nationals that are not treated with same urgency and zeal by law enforcers leading to such cases dying a not so natural death,” he said.

And Fr. Chikoya has described the UPND trend of reporting political opponents in far flung areas as a way of punishing them as abuse of human rights too.

“The trending pattern of reporting cases in far flung areas and transporting suspect mainly opposition leaders in response to such call outs is a bad practice that must come to an end. All acts of lawfare that is using the law to harass opponents must not be entertained-remember the principle as a man soweth so shall they reap.

All these are but a tip of the iceberg regarding human rights violations in the Country. We call upon the media to meticulously follow up all such cases until justice is obtained,” he said.

“We call upon the judiciary to assist decongest the prisons by meting out non-custodial sentencing such community service and guided counselling for offences of this nature.

We therefore call upon the Zambia Police Service to effectively and professionally undertake their duties without fear or favour,” said Fr. Chikoya.

WHO IS MR JAMES NDAMBO???

James Ndambo was born in Zambia on 18th April 1954 who is a Zambian businessman, based in South Africa, he owns Africa Union Financial Services, (AUFS) a longtime business partner of the Republic of Belarus which is active in in the promotion of goods and services from Belarus in South Africa and SADC region. On May 26, 2018 Africa Union Financial Services Ltd. (AUFS) signed a cooperation agreement with The National Satellite Telecommunication Network (Renatelsat) of the Democratic Republic of Congo with a goal to improve the technical capabilities and the financial health of the public enterprise of a technical and commercial nature, created in 1991. AUFS takes care of the rehabilitation of the Renatelsat satellite network as part of a BOT contract (build, operate and transfer)….

Mr. James Ndambo also owns a spot commodity exchange company Africa Union Commodity House (AUC) that deals in commodities on the domestic (South Africa) and international arena. Africa Union Commodity House trading as African Union Commodity Exchange is a subsidiary company of Africa Union Holdings. AUC actively provides services the sectors of SCANNERS, MONITORING, TELECOMMUNICATIONS, CIVIL ENGINEERING, MANAGEMENT & FINANCE.

Mr. James Ndambo is also the founder of a Choma based non governmental organisation known as ‘My Home Town’(MHT). MHT is a NGO concerned with uplifting the welfare of its members which brings together people with common ideals and values. Mr Ndambo, a business tycoon based in South Africa, said he decided to form MHT because of his concern for his birth place, Choma town. MHT also aims at unlocking the potential of its members to develop themselves rather than looking to government and donors for assistance.

Mr. James Ndambo under the Kaunda era worked as a manager in some of the companies owned by Lonrho like Consolidated Motors. In the Chiluba era Mr James Ndambo with the likes of Dean Mungomba opened the dry port port which was located at former Kalipinde Inn or Lido Drive Inn Cinema. He also owned one of the highly classic night clubs in the mid 1990s called Cosmopolitan in Makeni. Cosmopolitan was a first class entertainment club which had the facility of transporting passengers without cars to the club doors. It offered other new facilities like the ‘chi light’ whereby psychedelic lighting was positioned at the sky clouds.

When the Mwanawasa government came into power he took a low low profile on the local scene and has now grown into a recognizable Zambian mogul, though he likes it low.

Baroness Patricia Scotland re-elected as Commonwealth chief in blow to Boris Johnson

“Britain fails to install Jamaican challenger as secretary-general”

Boris Johnson has failed to oust a Labour peer as leader of the Commonwealth after she narrowly survived a challenge from the foreign minister of Jamaica.

Baroness Scotland of Asthal will remain secretary-general after scraping enough votes during a long closed-doors session at the Commonwealth summit in Rwanda.

Scotland won 27 votes to Kamina Johnson Smith’s 24, though tradition means the outcome is presented as the unanimous, cordial decision of the 54 member states.

Scotland, who was a minister under Tony Blair and attorney-general under Gordon Brown, said the result was “deeply humbling”. Insiders said four hours of wrangling turned into a battle between the Commonwealth’s major powers, including India, Canada and the UK, and its smaller states. All members’ votes are equal in the “family of nations”.

The narrow victory revealed how divisive the Dominican-born official has become and how little confidence nearly half the Commonwealth states have in her ability to re-energise a bloc that they fear is in danger of sliding into irrelevance.

Johnson led calls for Scotland, 66, to leave after one term for allegedly failing to provide a focus for the organisation and being an ineffective and divisive leader. Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada decided in 2020 to cut support to the Commonwealth secretariat temporarily when Scotland faced allegations of cronyism and lavish redecoration of her grace and favour Mayfair apartment.

Supporters claimed she had been confident of victory even when accused this week by the Commonwealth’s board of governors of withholding a report on financing in an “affront” to its authority. Allies accused No 10 of running a vendetta against her because she refused to “do the UK’s bidding”.

Johnson Smith was forced to deny reports that she would be a stooge for Westminster. She thanked the countries who voted for her and offered “sincere congratulations” to Scotland.

Johnson tried to play down his disappointment at the result, telling journalists: “It’s a good day for democracy. I work well with Baroness Scotland, have done for a very long time, since I became foreign secretary, and I look forward to working with her for the next couple of years. We’ll be doing everything we can simultaneously to help strengthen the Commonwealth secretariat and really deliver value for Commonwealth members.”

President Hichilema of Zambia told The Times he was “thrilled” at the outcome, crediting Scotland’s intervention for getting him and others freed from jail when he was in opposition. “Her actions then defused a very tense period in our country for which Zambia is gratefu,” he said.

Scotland said it was “deeply humbling” to be reappointed for a further two years. “To continue to serve our family of nations is a true honour and a privilege and I will do so to the best of my ability. We will face the world’s challenge with unity and purpose,” she said.

Sue Onslow, of the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, had warned that Britain’s energetic support for Johnson Smith could work against her.

“Commonwealth countries are very sensitive to any appearance that Britain is trying to play too dominant a role because of the historic colonial relationship,” she said.

She added that Scotland’s win marked “a successful pushback by a seasoned politician against her detractors”.

President Biden signs gun control bill into law in wake of deadly mass shootings

0

US President Joe Biden on Saturday, June 25, signed into law the most significant gun control bill in nearly 30 years less than 24 hours after it passed through Congress.

The Democrat signed the bipartisan gun safety bill, which was drafted in the wake of the deadly mass shootings in Uvalde, Texas, and Buffalo, N.Y., the day after it cleared the House in a 234-193 vote. Fourteen Republicans voted with Democrats in supporting the measure.

“Time is of the essence. Lives will be saved,” Biden said, adding that when he returns from a trip to Europe, he will host the lawmakers who worked on the legislation and family members of gun violence victims at the White House.

The House took up the bill hours after the Senate approved it in a 65-33 vote on Thursday night. Fifteen Republicans, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), joined all Democrats in supporting the measure in the upper chamber.

“Today, we say more than enough. We said more than enough. It’s time when it seems impossible to get anything done in Washington, we are doing some consequential,” he said, joined at the podium by first lady Jill Biden. “I know there’s much more work to do. I’m never going to give up.”

Biden, who said today is a “monumental day,” thanked the leaders in Congress who got the bill across the finish line and thanked the families of victims, who the president and the first lady have met with.

“I’ve been at this work for a long, long time and I know how hard it is and I know what is takes to get it done,” he said.

The bill, known as the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, enhances background checks for gun purchasers between the age of 18 and 21, makes obtaining firearms through straw purchases or trafficking a federal offense and clarifies the definition of a federally licensed firearm dealer.

It allocates $750 million to help states administer red flag laws, which seek to keep guns away from people deemed a threat to themselves or others, and other intervention programs, and it includes funding for mental health treatment.

“While this bill doesn’t do everything I want, it does include actions I’ve long called for that are going to save lives,” he said.

The president’s bill signing comes just an hour before he is set to leave the White House for the Group of Seven summit in Germany.

Biden said that the message to him from victims’ families is always “do something,” mentioning mass shootings from El Paso, Las Vegas, Parkland, Charleston, and others, and those that happen on the streets that people don’t hear about.

“For God’s sake, just do something. Well today, we did,” he said.

NDC distances itself from Shimunza’s attack on Mweetwa

0

By Oliver Chisenga

THE National Democratic Congress (NDC) feels misrepresented by UPND-Alliance spokesperson Daniel Shimunza who says Southern Province Minister Cornelius Mweetwa issued an irresponsible and immature statement regarding membership of the alliance.

Responding to Mweetwa, Shimunza said the UPND-Alliance council of presidents has no time to indulge itself in petty issues with those not at its level.

“Ours is seeking being relevant, and a commitment to assist His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zambia Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, to deliver the change and prosperity, to the people of Zambia, as we promised during the 12th August 2021 General Elections. As an Alliance, we joined forces with our colleagues to foster both the change and afterwards serve in government together. We promised to restore the rule of law, re- construct the broken economy, re- unite the country and restore the broken down social order,” said Shimunza. “The UPND-Alliance council of presidents is greatly dismayed, alarmed, and shocked by the; unsolicited, unmeasured, unfortunate, irresponsible, overzealous, false, naive, insensitive, and immature statements, attributed to one Honorable Cornelius Mweetwa, against the Alliance partners, on Friday, 24th June, 2022, at the UPND secretariat in a press briefing.

It is such irresponsible and immature statements, which made some of our Alliance partners, to be apprehensive because of the inadvertently insidious; deception, propaganda, and betrayal of the sacred trust, reposed in this Alliance.”

But Sichula, whose party is one of the first members of the UPND Alliance, said Shimunza should tame his insatiable appetite for power.

He said NDC as an Alliance party member expected sensitive matters to be ironed out internally.

“This Alliance was started by the Zambian people who are the major custodians of the Alliance; even the council of presidents must not hijack the cause. If Shimunza feels Mweetwa was wrong, the best should have been to engage the Southern Province Minister than taking him on through the media…two wrongs can never make anything right; dialogue is key,” he said.

Sichula guided Shimunza that the Alliance membership was driven by the will of the people which was to liberate them from the shackles of suffering and economic mismanagement under the PF.

“It is shameful to discuss the issues of jobs as leaders when we are supposed to advocate for job creation. As leaders, our role is to put Zambians first before self; a good parent looks at the welfare of his children and that’s what President Hakainde Hichilema is striving to do today,” said Sichula.

NAQEZ LOSING HOPE IN TEACHER RECRUITMENT EXERCISE

0

GOVERNMENT FAILS TO MEET ITS OWN DEADLINE TO PUBLISH THE LIST OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES AS NAQEZ SAYS FAITH IS WANING AWAY

Government yesterday failed to meet its own deadline to publish the list of successful candidates for teachers and health workers

Civil Service Commission had earlier communicated that the lists for successful health workers and teachers would be published latest by June 24, 2022. As at yesterday, no such list had been published anywhere.

Earlier in the week, unemployed health workers and teachers revealed that they had notified Police of their intention to hold a joint protest march to the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education respectively, if Government fails to publish the list of successful candidates by Friday as promised.

Chairperson for unemployed Doctors, Dr Wallace Ndumba, told KBN TV in a telephone interview that a joint committee for both unemployed health workers and teachers has since notified the Police of their intention to protest.

“Kindly take note we are basing our demand on the secular that was last communicated by both the Civil Service Commission and the Ministry of Health, indicating that the lists will be published between the 20th to 24th June, 2022,” Dr. Ndumba said.

Meanwhile, the National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) says it’s doubtful of the sincerity and feasibility of the teacher recruitment exercise.

In a Press Statement released today, Saturday 25, 2022, NAQEZ Executive Director, Aaron Chansa, says the loud silence by Government on this important national matter troubling, unhealthy, torturous to all the applicants and injurious to the Education Sector.

“While we have honestly trusted and supported this exercise, it is now extremely difficult for us to believe in it. The last bit of faith we had in the exercise is slowly but surely waning away,” says Chansa.

Below is the full Press Statement released by NAQEZ:

“WITH all the uncertainties enveloping the highly anticipated 2022 teacher recruitment exercise, National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) has doubted the sincerity and feasibility of the exercise.

During his presentation of the 2022 national budget on Friday, 29th October, 2021, the Minister of Finance and National Planning, Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane, informed the nation that Government had secured funds to recruit 30,000 teachers.

In January 2022, the Minister of Education, Hon. Douglas Siakalima, announced that the 30,000 teachers would be in schools in May, 2022. Against this assurance, the process has dragged up to now without clear explanation from the Teaching Service Commission, the Ministry of Education or the Government Spokesperson.

NAQEZ finds this loud silence by Government on this important national matter troubling, unhealthy, torturous to all the applicants and injurious to the Education Sector. While we have honestly trusted and supported this exercise, it is now extremely difficult for us to believe in it. The last bit of faith we had in the exercise is slowly but surely waining away!

In the initial stage, the exercise had a very clear road map and all Zambians trusted the process. If the process is to regain the confidence of the citizens, Government will have to immediately publish the list of successful candidates. This publishing is long overdue. Like many others, and because of the critical shortages of teachers in Zambia, we cannot overemphasize the need to have the 30,000 new teachers employed and posted to schools.

In case Government has encountered serious challenges over this matter, it is important for our leaders to communicate to the people.. Keeping mute is damaging the good name of Government as it is breeding unnecessary and toxic speculations and rumours every day.

Government owes an explanation to the more than 100,000 unemployed teachers, their families, educational stakeholders and the entire population. If the process has collapsed, as some quarters are suggesting, it is necessary for the Government to communicate to its people.”

Two State House Officials Are Openly Gay, UPND Should Start With State House- Fred M’membe

TWO STATE HOUSE OFFICIALS ARE OPENLY GAY, UPND SHOULD START WITH STATE HOUSE, SAYS FRED MMEMBE

👉🏾But he still doesn’t say whether he supports LGBTs or whether or not he is in love with Wynter Kabimba.
👉🏾In fact he carefully avoids mentioning Kabimba in his long winding write-ups

👉🏾 He clearly knows who is who

By Dr Fred M’membe

The UPND is a member of the African Liberal Network (ALN), which also a member of the Liberal International (LI).
And LI Human Rights Committee Bulletin 4th Edition – LGBTI Rights states:

“In the year since Liberal International launched its Human Rights Bulletin, the final edition of the publication for 2015 – which has attracted contributions from senior ministers, UN diplomats, and prominent activists – has been released, with a focus in this edition on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) rights.

It firmly entrenches our view that LGBTI rights are important, recognized, and above all that they are human rights, added Mrs.

These are views from the organisations to which the UPND belongs.
To this add what we published yesterday:

“STATE HOUSE AND PROMOTERS OF GAY RIGHTS

If the UPND really wants to know who is dealing with the defenders, protectors and promoters of gay rights, they should start with State House.
On September 29, 2021 President Hakainde Hichilema hosted an ambassador of gay rights at State House. His name is Mr Tony Blair – a former British prime minister.

Mr Hichilema held talks with Mr Blair on the possible collaboration between Zambia and the Tony Blair Institute for global change.
Mr Hichilema said the institute is doing commendable work and hopes it can assist Zambia.
Mr Blair said his institute stands ready to help the new dawn administration.
Mr Blair has been recognised as one of the top gay icons of the past three decades, along with figures such as Boy George, Sir Ian McKellen and Barbra Streisand.

Gay Times said Blair’s status as an ambassador of gay rights was undeniable.
Mr Blair, as British prime minister, introduced laws recognising trans people, civil partnerships, banned employers from sacking employees because of who they love and made homophobia a hate crime.

Mr Joe Biden, on May 4, 2012 told NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ anchor David Gregory: ‘I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women, and heterosexual men and women marrying another are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties. Who do you love? And will you be loyal to the person you love? And that’s what people are finding out is what all marriages, at their root, are about, whether they’re marriages of lesbians or gay men or heterosexuals.’

This is the President of United States today, the current occupant of the White House.

Same-sex sexual activity is legal in all EU states and discrimination in employment has been banned since 2000.

The Treaty on European Union, in its last version as updated by the Treaty of Lisbon in 2007 and in force as of 2009, makes the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union legally binding for the member state of the European Union and the European Union itself.

These provisions were enacted by the Treaty of Amsterdam in 1999.

In June 2010, the Council of the European Union adopted a non-binding toolkit to promote LGBT people’s human rights.
In June 2013, the Council upgraded it to binding LGBTI Guidelines instructing EU diplomats around the world to defend the human rights of LGBTI people.

So if one is looking for gays and defenders, protectors and promoters of gay right the starting point should be State House.
And this is the problem with malice, it boomerangs. Bob Marley sang in a reggae rhythm, ‘Why boasteth thyself, oh evil man
Playing smart and not being clever?
I said you’re working iniquity
To achieve vanity, yeah (if I sow, I sow)…No weak heart shall prosper
And whosoever diggeth a pit
Shall fall in it…’

And when it comes to allegations of being involved in gay activities, at least two names constantly come up from State House.

Again, we emphasize that if the UPND really want to know is involved with gay activities and issues in this they should start with itself and State House.

55 bank accounts worth $30.3 million were frozen by FIC in 2021

ACC froze 55 bank accts in 2021, report reveals

By Oliver Chisenga

IN 2021 the Financial Intelligence Centre froze 55 bank accounts held in eight commercial banks; the Centre has revealed.
According to the 2021 seventh FIC money laundering and terrorist report, the amounts frozen were US $30.3 million, K292.9 million and 1,685.31 Euros.

The report which was launched at Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka further said the majority of accounts frozen were on grounds of suspected theft, corrupt activities, tax evasion and money laundering.

Further, the report said in 2021, FIC observed an unusual increase in the usage of cash in transactions despite the growing ease of transaction through electronic payment systems across the financial sector.

The report added that the trend was observed in several sectors of the economy, notably the banking, construction, manufacturing, agriculture and in businesses such as legal services and real estate.

It said in the construction sector, a series of large cash deposits and withdraws by constructors especially those engaged with public works were observed.

“A similar trend was observed with suppliers engaged in public procurement, especially during the first, second and third quarters of 2021,” read the report.
Furthermore, the report said the prominent influential persons (PIPs) and their associates facilitated the awarding of contracts and were mostly beneficiaries of the contracts.

“In the period under review, the majority of suspicious transaction reports (STRs) submitted related to the use of cash by foreign nationals that had incorporated companies using Zambian nationals as proxies,’’ the report said further. ‘’The foreign nationals who were identified as beneficial owners would transact on the accounts with different banks with the sole purpose of externalising funds, in the guise of importing goods from foreign jurisdictions. Deposits would be made into different accounts by related parties and immediately the funds would be transferred to a foreign country, Asia being the main destination. This trend was observed in the analysis of STRs.”

And the report said there was an increase in both the number and value of the Cross Boarder Currency Declaration Reports (CBCDRs) in the period under review.

“It was however noted that no Cross Boarder Currency Declaration Reports were received. From border posts assessed to be porous such as Nakonde showed that traders conducted a high volume of cross border transactions in cash,” said the report.

WE’RE HUNGRY, Kalandanya choir justifies praise for HH

0

By NewsMakers

PF aligned artists have differed with their sponsors over funds to sustain themselves.

The group under the Kalandanya Music Promotion have produced a song titled “Morale” where they have showered President Hakainde Hichilema with praise.

In the song, they have made a uturn saying HH is God given and praise him. This is in sharp contrast from how they sung about him while he was in opposition. The artists, comprising of JK, Wile, Felix, Richie Bizzy, Kayombo,Dandy Crazy as well as Chester and others, once termed HH a ‘shonongo’ , which means Satan.

In their PF songs, the Kalandanya Music Promotion gang persistently and consistently reminded Zambians that Hakainde Hichilema privatized mines, was a tribalist and a hateful person who should not rule Zambia.

But in responding to their critics who have called them prostitutes, the artists have justified their singing for Hichilema saying they’re tired of being hungry because they’re not being fed by PF.

Recall now that their Music promotor Bwalya Kalandanya has his assets siezed by the Joint Investigative Team comprising of DEC, ACC and the Police. He is suspected of forging documents and used them to get corrupt contracts under PF. Kalandanya has ammased a lot of wealth which is not explained prompting the investigative wings to pounce on him.

At the moment, he has been making frantic efforts to find his way in UPND so that he can be giving back his siezed assets.

Further, Kalandanya artists were all beneficiaries of the infamous PF Artists Empowerment Fund which Ministry of Youths dished to musicians just before elections. The artists obtained millions as loans and thought they would never pay back under PF but after change of government, they have been asked to pay back.

Most of them have plundered the money. For example, Kayombo has become bankrupt with all his lodges and companies winding up.

JK and Wile’s construction company which was getting contracts under AFCON’s Lusaka Decongestion program as well as under Ministry of Health to supply masks, has folded with no business.

The artists have even exited PF blogs after admitting they’re hungry and want to eat.

Ponga Liwewe: Ten Players who Shaped Zambian Football

Ten Players who Shaped Zambian Football

By Ponga Liwewe

These are ten players who, in their careers, were part of pivotal moments and periods that were instrumental in Zambia’s football’s sucess.

It is NOT a list of Zambia’s greatest players and is NOT in chronological order

1. Godfrey Chitalu

Nicknamed ‘Ucar’ after a popular battery brand manufactured by Union Carbide, Godfrey Chitalu broke barriers that no Zambian player would ever match. He was named Zambian Footballer of the Year on five occasions, holds the record for the highest number of goals scored in a single season, 107, and is ranks 5th on the FIFA list of scorers in international football with 79 goals. He first exploded on the scene for Kitwe United earning a reputation as the ‘bad’ boy of Zambian football, while scoring prolifically for the Kitwe side. He later moved to Kabwe Warriors where he became a national hero who would etch his name in Zambian football history forever.

2. Christopher Katongo

Led Zambia to victory in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring three goals to share the top scorers award. His exemplary leadership drove a group of players rated far below their opponents to an unexpected cup win that ranks as the greatest shock in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations. He finished the 2007 season in the South African PSL as top scorer with 15 goals despite leaving for Denmark halfway through. In the Zambia national team his leadership was inspiration and he drove a team of average players to greater heights with the guidance of his coach Herve Renard. His drive and determination took him to Denmark, Germany, Greece, China and back to South Africa. But for him, Zambia would not have reached the heights they did in 2012.

3. Kalusha Bwalya

He became the most recognized player in Zambian football history by becoming the only player from Southern Africa to win the prestigious African Footballer of the Year Award in 1988 after Zambia’s outstanding performance at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. He scored six goals in four matches at the tournament, coming second to Brazil’s Romario who scored seven, but played two more matches. His six goals at the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations makes him the highest Zambian scorer at a single tournament. On the pitch, he was a marvel to watch, leading a talented team to constant Africa Cup appearances in 1986, 1990, 1992,1994,1996,1998,2000, and 2002. His career took him to Belgium, Holland, and Mexico.

4. Wisdom Chansa

He became the only Zambian player to lead his team to a continental title when Power Dynamos beat Nigeria’s BBC Lions to win the African Cup Winners Cup in 1991, and was instrumental in the team that won its first league title in 1984. He captained the Power Dynamos team to their second ever league title in 1991, the year of their African success. The previous season, 1990, he led them to win three cup competitions in one season. A natural leader, his tireless work rate and influence on his team-mates made Power Dynamos one of Zambia’s most successful club sides in the country’s football history. Fans chanted his name for both club and country, one of the few players to win such an acclaim.

5. Freddie Mwila

He was one of the first Zambian players to play in England for Aston Villa alongside Emment Kapengwe. His goalscoring prowess made him one of the best strikers of his era. Though Zambian players would vanish from European football for over a decade until the eighties, he is recognized as a pacesetter in breaking a barrier by playing in England after having earlier made his mark at Atlanta Chiefs in the USA in the National Soccer League, NSL. Before his departure overseas he had been a key player for Rhokana United, scoring freely and it was this that would grab the attention of the former West Ham player Phil Woosnam who would take him to an unprecedented move overseas.

6. Dickson Makwaza

Dickson Makwaza is recognized for leading Zambia to the final of the 1974 Africa Cup of Nations where against all expectation he captained Zambia against the powerful Zaire Leopards, Africa’s dominant team at that time. The young Zambian side took a highly experienced Zaire team to a replay, making history in the process in the only final that has gone to a second match in CAF history with the first a 2-2 draw and Zambia losing the replay, 2-0. As a pillar at the back for both Mufulira Wanderers and Zambia, Makwaza led by example as a defensive stalwart and rallied his team-mates behind the cause at the time, taking Zambia to the highest levels of the African game where they would stay for many decades.

7. Kapambwe Mulenga

When Nkana FC became the most dominant club side in Zambian football history, no other player epitomised what the club stood for more than’Gents Power’ Kapambwe Mulenga. Robust at the back and renowned for his aggressive tacking, he also had a delicate touch that allowed him to play creatively in midfield. By far the most popular player in the team, he always gave 100% and Nkana’s nine titles in twelve years between the eighties and nineties stand out as testament to a team that totally dominated the local scene. His smooth transition to the national team equally endeared him in the hearts of fans countrywide.

8. Peter Kaumba

A rampaging winger down the left flank who devastated defences for both club and country, between 1980 and 1994, Peter Kaumba was the most dominant player in Zambian football. In 1982 he was the dominant figure in a Power Dynamos team that reached the final of the 1982 Africa Cup Winners Cup against Egypt’s Arab Contractors, becoming the first Zambian team to reach an African final. That year he was the league’s top scorer, Footballer of the Year and Sportsman of the Year. Alongside the great Alex Chola, he played a pivotal role in taking Power Dynamos to the summit of Zambian club football. Revered by the Power Dnamos faithful, his entrance into the pitch brought the crowd to its feet as he jogged majestically around the perimeter. He was voted Africa’s best left winger at the 1982 Africa Cup in Libya. He had a spell with top African side Africa Sport in Cote d’Ivoire between 1983 and 1984.

9. Alex Chola

Zambia’s most skillful player ever, Alex Chola left his indelible mark on Zambian football with his unbelievable array of football skills that mesmerised football fans across the country and in African football. The ‘Master Dribbler’ tore defences to shreds with immense dribbling ability and was equally adept at scoring goals, qualities that made him valuable equally as a centre-forward or second striker. His move from Mufulira Blackpool to Power Dynamos transformed the Kitwe side, drawing thousands of fans to the fast-rising team and making them a household name in Zambian football. Across Africa, his was the first name on lips of rival fans who longed to see his unmatched ability on the ball. Thousands poured through the turnstiles to see him weave his magic and they never left disappointed. He played over 100 times for Zambia and won the 1976 Footballer of the Year award.

10. Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu

As Zambia’s football growth accelerated in the sixties, Zambia’s first football superstar. Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndlovu, emerged from Mufulira, thrilling crowds across the country with skills that were nothing short of amazing. Grounds around the country were filled, and the Copperbelt became the launch pad for the start of an era that would see Zambia begin to become competitive against Africa’s best at continental football. He led Mufulira Wanderers to five league titles between 1963 and 1969. Clad in the green and white stripes of Mufulira Wanderers, Zoom took Zambian football to the start of a new era as the popularity of the game propelled its players to new highs. Improved international performances and open, attacking football thrived across the Copperbelt igniting the flames that would lead to a golden era for Zambian football.

Govt to repeal, replace public order Act

Govt to repeal, replace public order Act

By Fanny Kalonda

GOVERNMENT says it is aware that the public’s expectations on the public order Act are very high.
Speaking when he launched the review of the public order Act in Lusaka yesterday, home affairs minister Jack Mwiimbu said the objective was to repeal and replace the Act to develop a legal framework that regulates public assemblies, processions and meetings while being anchored on the constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights and freedoms.

“You do recall that the UPND boycotted the National Dialogue Forum. The boycott was anchored on principle taking into account that the process was not consultative and it was not going to accommodate various interest groups in this country. Having learned from that scenario, we will not allow ourselves to fall in the same pit of failure to adhere and acknowledge the interest of the Zambian people,” he told journalists. “We are going to allow a free and fair consultative process because the law we are going to come up with is not for the new dawn administration. It is for the people of Zambia. And the people of Zambia will speak and make their point known through this consultative process.”

And Mwiimbu said the process would be undertaken in all parts of the country.
He expects that the presentation of the bill to Cabinet would be done in September.
“During the official opening of the First Session of the 13th National Assembly on the 10th September, 2021, His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zambia Mr Hakainde Hichilema, reiterated the need to enhance the democratic dispensation in the country by reviewing the public order Act. In this regard, Cabinet at its 9th meeting held on the 26th April, 2022 approved in principle to the review and amendment of the public order Act cap 113 of the laws of Zambia,” Mwiimbu said. “The overall objective of this law review process initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security, working with the Zambia Law Development Commission and the Ministry of Justice, is to repeal and replace the public order Act in order to develop a legal framework that regulates public assemblies, processions and meetings while being anchored on the constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights and freedoms.”

And Mwiimbu said the UPND being a victim of the public order Act, would avoid the same for others.
He disclosed that process would cost approximately K4 million.
“Zambia has been a beacon of democratic hope and stability in the southern African region as far as respecting the rule of law, freedoms and the human rights of citizens are concerned. The new dawn administration is committed to bringing on board all stakeholders to review the public order Act, cap 113 of the laws of Zambia. Government is aware that the expectation by the general public is very high on the revision of the public order Act as evidenced by media reports,” he said. “It is therefore important that wide consultations are undertaken to build consensus. All interest groups such as traditional leaders, faith-based organisations, non-governmental organisations, trade unions, Law Association of Zambia, political parties and academia, among others will have to be consulted. The process will not only protect the content of the revised public order Act, but also produce a forward-looking bill acceptable by all stakeholders.”

Mwiimbu said it was gratifying that various stakeholders had already developed position papers on the public order bill.
“The roadmap for the review of the public order Act will include appointment of the technical committee, receipt of oral and written submissions, national stakeholder consultative meetings, roundtable discussions, national stakeholders’ validation meeting, drafting meeting and presentation of the bill to Cabinet by 29th September, 2022,” said Mwiimbu. “The specific objectives are to, remove from the statute archaic provisions of the law that stifle the enjoyment of the freedom of assembly, association and expression in the conduct of public assemblies, processions and other forms of public gatherings. Develop a legal framework that guarantees autonomy, to law enforcement agencies, in the policing of public assemblies, processions and other forms of public gatherings; and devise measures to prevent arbitrary decisions and abuse of the law in the enforcement of the public order Act. I have no doubt in my mind that the goodwill shown by various stakeholders particularly political parties will result in a public order bill which will be adhered to by all.”

As Hunger Hits Home, Kalandanya Musical Ensemble Goes Prodigal – Starts Fooling Bally The Way They Fooled Chagwa Into The Loss Trench

AS HUNGER HITS HOME, KALANDANYA MUSICAL ENSEMBLE GOES PRODIGAL – STARTS FOOLING BALLY THE WAY THEY FOOLED CHAGWA INTO THE LOSS TRENCH

Emmanuel Chilekwa

25 June, 2022

So musicians after all, don’t sing what they believe in but sing for the highest and best bidder who can aid them put food on the table? They don’t even mind whether you win or lose, they’ll always leave you nurse or lick your wounds as they criss over to the high table flowing with milk and honey – they are not part of the loss mourners.

When some of these musicians enjoyed Chagwa’s cash for artists, ECL was the man of the moment. They could not even sleep but innovate songs that even the deaf and dumb sand and danced to rhythmically.
But life is harsh. The harsh realities of life has been able to dislodge one from enjoying his birthright to ignoring even what the mind reminds them about. A hungry person is an angry man. There are no negotiations with a hungry man. There are no compromises or reasoning when one is hungry. “ Sebana wikute ” becomes a saving deed of survival.

Barely 10 months on, like many millions of Zambians who are experiencing hardships, the Kalandanya Music Promotions – KMP label has felt what it means to lose “eating privileges” from the high table of the crumbs of the ruling party. They have made a 360 degrees turnabout and swallowed their pride – they are now singing praises for Bally.

Whilst they enjoy the trappings of singing for cash-in-the-bank under Edgar Chagwa Lungu, they seem not to realize that Bally and ECL are not churned from the same needle, the two are totally different – it is water and oil, the two don’t mix because they have different viscosity characteristics.

Remember when the sun shone and they made hay, they were dishing out ama 25 pin donations to then embattled Mumba Yachi who had lost his assets as a result of a personal calamity he suffered losing his properties.

It was this record label which told the nation that to remove Lungu, you needed to come with a mazembe . They even went as far as saying “God had already picked on Lungu as winner” because he had worked developmental wonders – schools, hospitals, roads, bridges and so forth. They sang the scintillating danceable PF official song “ ALEBWELELAPO PA MUPANDO ” and that is how they fooled ECL and the looting and plundering ensemble.

Today, this same music label has started to fool the current ruling UPND party, they think UPND is the same as PF where they were being nursed and pampered with financial rewards.

Bally is another. He takes no nonsense of caderism, patronism and doesn’t have a long hand when it comes to dishing out moneys. When His Veep GBM was with him, caders enjoyed working for the party because GMD is a natural “Father Christmas”, samadya eka , he eats with people, and he eats with a smile.

The KMP music label has just found that Noah has already closed the economic redemption door. They have gone to Bally rather too late for salvation because they didn’t see that the Mazembe they talked about was in Southern Province amassing One millions tons of votes against ECL.

There were musicians who sang honestly and ardently for Bally’s success. And indeed, it is just good that the KMP should avoid going to Bally’s camp to cloud the entrance. Let those who plied their time and energy for Bally now start eating with Bally.

It would not be wrong to believe that our musicians are economic singers – they sing for money. They go where they can eat. They do not even believe in what they sing for… they have no shame to eat their words.
True, they say, insala kapondo. Well, even in the Bible, when hunger pangs ravaged, someone sold out his birthright over a bowl of soup.

Now in this Bally kamfulumende, not even a bowl of soup is available for people who just come from the green bushes to the red camp of starvation fire.
They have eyes but they cannot read. In UPND, even hardworking party officials are beging ama One pin from simple women in the diaspora. In UPND, money to dish out, theliz no.

If a musical ensemble thinks speaking and singing good of Bally TODAY will fool Bally to start smiling at them, sorry Shamwari, Bally is not interested and does not entertain such turn-coats.

I wonder why people fail to study their leaders. One thing you cannot take away from Bally is that he does not forget. Those who crossed his path, those who tortured him and those who kept him well in prison – he rewards them both: good or bad, it depends on what you did for him or against him.
Just yesterday, he was in Europe in the European Parliament. He still went to tell the white folks how terrible the past regime was, how he was incarcerated unjustly and so forth. You could see even his face was emitting the pain he went through.

Whilst he was in Europe talking about his 127 days treason torture, back home, his Information and media Minister Chushi Kasanda was at Mukobeko Maximum Prison donating beds to prisoners and she ensure she visited Cell 4 and inspected that that Cell had flushing toilet and a bed. She pointed out that at the time Bally was incarcerated, he and his co-accused were sleeping on cold floor, no mattresses, no blankets.
So, if KMP thinks that Bally has forgotten that this musical outfit never wanted him to rule, they are mistaken. These folks sang it is “Lungu na Luo” and if one argued, “ bakaimwena ”.

Hunger is not your play mate. It has knocked. Four more years, at this starvation level is no child’s play. It is that season of ‘sebana wikute’, forget the principles, after all, who ever eats or puts principles on a dinner table?

UPND Alliance partners riled by Mweetwa remarks

The UPND-ALLIANCE COUNCIL OF PRESIDENTS, has no time to indulge ourselves in petty issues, with those not at our level. Ours is seeking being relevant, and a commitment to assist His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zambia Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, to deliver the change and Prosperity, to the People of Zambia, as we promised during the 12th August , 2021 General Elections. As an Alliance, we joined forces with our colleagues, to foster both the change, and afterwards serve in government together, what we promised to:

  1. Restore the rule of law.
  2. Re- construct the broken economy.
  3. Re- Unite the country.
  4. Restore the broken down social order.

The UPND-ALLIANCE COUNCIL OF PRESIDENTS, is greatly dismayed, alarmed, and shocked by the; unsolicited, unmeasured, unfortunate, irresponsible, overzealous, false, naive, insensitive, and immature statements, attributed to one Hon. Cornelius Mweetwa, against the Alliance Partners, on Friday, 24th June , 2022, at the UPND secretariat in a Press Briefing.

It is such irresponsible and immature statements, which made some of our Alliance Partners ,to be apprehensive, because of the inadvertently insidious; deception, propaganda, and betrayal of the sacred trust, reposed in this Alliance.

Whereas, the said Provincial Minister, for Southern Province , should have confined himself to his functions as; Spokesperson of the UPND, as a Party, and matters related to his Provincial functions , but rather in a strange fashion, has recently exposed his ignorance and unmeasured utterances, by overstepping his commentaries on matters related to government policy, which is the role of the Chief government Spokesperson, sadly . Furthermore , he has also been over- stepping the roles of the Presidential Spokesperson, which are not his lane and functions, sadly. We urge him to forthwith restrain himself, before he destroys the image of the Republican President, by seeking relevance in an; undue, careless, and immature manner. For a man of his Stature, as a learned Counsel he should have had a more measured approach, to politics, which he lamentably has failed.

Whereas, the UPND Spokesperson, demeaned and minimised the contributions of the ALLIANCE Partners, as little in the 12th of August, 2021 General elections, the contrary is true. That it’s Members came only three months before the elections. That there was no contracts, for Cabinet or government jobs. That the Zambian people had already decided to change government, even without the alliance. All this is further from the actual truth, that he is ignorant of, and not privy to, at the Council of Presidents level, to which he does not belong, at his level as Provincial Minister, or as a Member of Parliament.

Therefore , the Council of Presidents, of the UPND-ALLIANCE, and all its Partners, hereby, for the record state the following:

  1. That all Partners gave the UPND, a required National Character, which was marred, by tribal proclivities.
  2. That we answered the call of the Zambian people, to Unite, as Opposition Political Parties, against a brutal regime of the Patriotic Front ( PF).
  3. That political Alliances exist for power -sharing, everywhere in the world.
  4. That it was not a popular decision, to support the UPND at the time we joined the Alliance.
  5. That each Partner contributed overtly and covertly, to dislodge the PF government, and generate the extra 1 million votes of the 2.8 million votes.
  6. That the Republican President, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, and his Running Mate, now Republican Vice President, were both Alliance Candidates.
  7. That to insult or demean the Alliance Partners, is invariably to do it to both the Republican President Mr . Hakainde Hichilema and the Vice President, who are Members of the Alliance.
  8. That agreements, as to power- sharing and Apointments, were discussed at various meetings, before and even after the General Elections, at Presidential level, which Mr. Mweetwa must respect if he is loyal to his Party President, and if he is a disciplined member thereof.
  9. That his statements, are misplaced and misleading, making the President and Vice President, as deceptive towards Partners, and the entire Country, if as he stated that is their position as a Party.
  10. If we contributed very little, why has the Now Republican President, Vice President, and entire Cabinet, continued to recognise the Alliance Partners in State functions? Is it not because we are Principals of this New Dawn government administration?

CONCLUSIVELY, LET ALL THOSE IN UPND, WHO PEDDLE THE NARRATIVE THAT THE ALLIANCE PARTNERS, ARE NOT PART OF THIS NEW DAWN GOVERNMENT, BECAUSE THEY CONTRIBUTED VERY LITTLE, ASK THE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT TO SAY THAT PUBLICLY. THEN THE PARTNERS WILL GLADLY OBLIGE, BUT LETS SEE THE GHASTLY CONSEQUENCES, THEREOF, COUNTRYWIDE.

UPND REJECT BWALYA KALANDANYA ENSEMBLE

Insoni Ebuntu

By Nicky Phiri

Insoni ebuntu…( this is a dream about a conversation between truth and hypocrites)

The point to my fellow young leaders is this:

Please have a set of principles and stick to them regardless.

Unless you have something you so much believe in that you are ready to lose everything, including your life in order to defend it, you don’t have any principle (s).

It is not good to be always moved my the wind of selfish and self aggrandisement.

A country can never be built by opportunist elements like these mozeshans.

Make no mistake, we are not fools like you could be.

You said then, that you did it for a pay.

We knew you lied. You did it because you didn’t have a spine to stand against evil. ..

You enjoyed, remained mute and cheered evil while evil wrecked the righteous!

Hypocrites!

We chose not to disagree with you, because we knew lies have short legs and evil while never overcome righteousness!

Today, you are here praising? And you are welcome by the way.

Question however is: who has paid you this time around? Because, you always do it for a pay?

Or is it now out of conviction? That is if you have what it takes to have a conviction.

From where I stand, your conviction is convinience and expidiance!

So, it can’t be out of conviction.

Conviction is a product of principle and principle is a product of belief and belief is a result of tested character.

You don’t have any of these, even just a quarter!

You, as far as I know have no conviction, no principle, no belief.

You are entirely driven by selfish and myopic motives..

Talk about vultures!

Okay. So when did you believe in the same person you said would never ever be?

Please don’t get it twisted. ..

He is your hero, not because you have said it, but simply because he is.

Point is, your voice is not any significant… you can keep it if you so wish.

It didn’t help your former master. So why would we think it will help us?

Your hypocrisy is embarrassing too.

While you are free to support and rally behind the vision, we will never forget who you are:

Hypocrites! Betrayers! Seller Out! Surrogates of Immortality!

The UPND Govt is being vengeful- Chishimba Kambwili

0

Patriotic Front (PF) Member of the Central Committee Chishimba Kambwili has said his recent arrest over the offence of expressing hatred and ridicule for persons because of tribe and place of origin is politically motivated.

Dr. Kambwili was apprehended by Police in Lusaka on Monday and transported to Kasama by road where he was detained until Thursday when the Magistrate Court granted him bail.

The former Chief Government spokesperson in the PF regime was granted a K50, 000 bail pending trial on Thursday after being charged with the offence of expressing hatred and ridicule for persons because of tribe and place of origin by Police.

Speaking to journalists and supporters after appearing before Kasama Resident Magistrate Samson Mumba, Dr. Kambwili said the UPND Government was being vengeful.

He said the New Dawn Government leadership must show true leadership by facilitating sincere healing in the nation after the last August elections.

Dr. Kambwili said he was not shaken by arrests because he is used.

The NDC founding President said UPND should stop repeating the mistake of mistreating opponents that was seen from previous governments.

“They are the ones who preach that when a person is arrested they must be given police bond.If I have broken the law, yes I am not above the law they can arrest me and take me to court. I am not refusing that but apprehending me in Lusaka and transporting me to Kasama, moving me the whole night. Locking me up for four days without a police bond is not fair. The arresting officer sent from Lusaka who was supposed to deal with my police bond application was elusive. They are just repeating what used to happen in the past. Mwebamunyinane Ubutungulushi kumwena umuntu mu fichitwa fyakwe.Umuntu nga cakweba ati alecita abanankwe ifyo bamucitile ninshi tentungulushi and mwe bena Zambia mumone ukuti ilyo mulesala mulesala intungulushi,” Dr. Kambwili said in an unusually low tone.

“Umuntu nganakwata icilandushi tentungulushi isuma. Ine ifyo napitamo mu ma politics ukunkaka, ukunjikata 14 times I can tell you about the people of Zambia. I can never ever do that to another human being no matter how much we can differ. Nomba nga mwamona intungulushi shelecita ba Garry Nkombo balibekete, uyu munyinane nomba permanent secretary nani uyu? Mucheleka (Patrick), ba HH bene balibekete, Matambo (Elisha) bali mwikate. Ilya pain baumfwile ukubeketa no ku batwala mu fifungo tabafwile ukweba ukuti na banabo balapitamo. Nga mwalacita ico mwe bamunyinane ninshi tamuli ntungulushi. Ifi ifyakwikata abantu no kubabika mu cifungo as a way of intimidating opponents must come to an end,” he said.

Dr. Kambwili warned that political power was temporary.

“This country needs proper healing. Healing and we must be truthful to one another ilyo tulecita ifintu so ine teti nsakamane ifi mwampishamo nalibelela. Nomba ico mufwile ukwishiba nga imwe lelo mwafumamo. I used to tell previous governments ifi mulecita naimwe kuti baisa micita ififine. People didn’t listen, futi naimwe efyo mwayamba ukucita fimo fine ba UPND. Ndemyumfwila uluse no bulanda. Mukashukefye nganine na ba President ine teti ncite ifi pantu fyabuwelewele. Political power is very temporary, use it to advance the well being of the people and create an enabling environment where people can live well and don’t go to bed hungry. If you feel that you can intimidate me politically ine nalishimpula ngo musunga mfwaya fye ukwa kusha umutwe,” Dr. Kambwili said.

No Standing Ovation For Hichilema From Me- Samuel Kasankha

No Standing Ovation For Mr. Hichilema

As more Zambians react to President Hakainde Hichilema’s speech at the European Union parliament, Samuel Kasankha writes…

NO STANDING OVATION FROM ME.

My president, His Excellency, Mr Hakainde Hichilema, can get as many kudos and standing ovations for his wonderfully crafted speeches abroad but as long as we are chasing after more foreigners than we already have to come and do things for us – things which I believe we can and should do ourselves – and all we will get are crumbs, I’ll give him a sitting ovation if such exists.

Our focus now should be on how we can give back to Zambians such industries as poultry, fish farming, block making, bakeries and the like which are sadly in the hands of the same foreigners we are still pursuing and who are paying locals peanuts while keeping them under slave work conditions.

Before you start quarrelling needlessly, please do a survey in as many industries as you can and find out what foreign investment is doing at the level of “creating employment”! You will cry from the sad stories workers will tell you.

Surely when are we going to say enough is enough in a country of suffering masses in which even small grocery business is monopolized by Rwandese, Burundese and the like and malls are the preserve of South Africans?

Are we accepting that we are INCAPABLE of ever doing anything ourselves? This narrative must change. Let us sit down fellow country men and women and determine our own destiny. If we are where we are because we never thought about it before that we are giving away everything we have to outsiders, bamwisa, let us put our heads together now and agree how best we can do it by ourselves for ourselves.

Sorry. No standing ovation for me no matter how good the speeches that invite vultures to come feast on what we have.

Zambia is our Heritage

Let ZAMBIANS win.

WELL DONE HON. MINISTER OF DEFENCE

WELL DONE HON. MINISTER OF DEFENCE

By Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba

Minister of Defence Hon. Ambrose Lwiji Lufuma MP has emphasised that the Zambia Army upholds discipline, professionalism and integrity which are among the core values of the military.

He has disclosed that the matter of youths that were brutalised and beaten by some military personnel in Luapula Province, is under investigations and culprits will be disciplined.

Amidst the irrational and drowning voices and keyboard warriors of the praise singers, you would think that the abnormal had become normal in this country. That the abuse of state institutions as seen in the past, would continue unabated.

My view about this was beginning to crystallize when an official and irresponsible statement was made by the Director General for Civil Military Affairs, Brig. General Genoh Muke, who clearly condoned the inhuman treatment and torture of the boys and trivialised the entire matter by saying; “A few slaps do not constitute brutality”.

It is therefore gratifying to note a leadership display by the Minister of Defence, Hon. Lufuma expressing commitment to national values and condemning inhuman treatment and torture by the officers.

Members of Zambia Defence and Security Officers are among the well-taught and highly disciplined in Africa and this upholding of these values are confirmed by repeated good reports about the Zambian personnel that participate in international peace-keeping missions across Africa.

So some were confused about the two cases.

While the insults issued by the youths against the President are unacceptable and must be condemned, the illegal and excessive reaction by trained personnel, who even committed grave offences in the mistaken belief that they were upholding law and order and were clearly trying hard to impress their superiors and the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, was disappointing.

The law regarding criminal defamation of the President will remain a constant subject of law reforms because we, as a people, aspire to grow our democracy.

It was impressive to note that the Human Rights Commission, the Law Association of Zambia and other entities demonstrated and applied progressive pressure against abuse of state institutions and called for disciplinary action against the rogue officers.

Prophet Isaiah Brian Sovi says night clubs are evil!

Lusaka prophet says night clubs are evil!
Lusaka based Prophet Isaiah Brian Sovi writes; Did you know that night clubs are altars of the devil and portals of Hell? I personally know about 2 different individuals that saw a demon standing among people having fun in the same night club.

Altars represent portals, a portal is a door that allows spiritual powers to flow in a specific area on the earth. An altar can be any dedicated place were people can worship and honor their God. For example a church is an altar of God; nonetheless, an altar can be built anywhere, in the house, on the mountain were you can pray and fast from…etc. Genesis 12:7.

The altars of God are also portals of heaven, portals of heaven are openings or doors that allow angelic activities or the power of God to flow or manifest in certain areas or places, that is why in churches and at prayer mountains, we witness demons fleeing , demons getting powerless, agitated, through people; because those locations are active places for Gods powers. In Ezekiel 1 a portal of heaven opened.
Humans can also be portals of God, if they live righteously and allow Jesus Christ to live in them, because Jesus Christ himself is a portal of heaven. John 11.

The same way there’s portals and altars of heaven, there’s also altars and portals of hell. These are grave yards, witch doctors shrines, satanic shrines, psychics altars, satanic temples, certain waters, idol temples, idol altars and lastly the night clubs. These are active places for the devil which are doors to the underworld/hell, allowing demonic activities and satanic powers to flow and manifest.

The night club is a very very forgotten altar of satan and portal of hell. This doesn’t mean the night club owners are aware, they might be innocent and genuinely doing it for business, but, that doesn’t mean the very first night club agenda was innocent, it was created for that sole purpose of it being an altar of satan.

In the club some people go there for prostitution, some go there to fulfil their sexual desires, there’s always people fighting, people cursing each other, some people have been murdered there, some people get so drunk and offend others and God, some people got so drunk and died in road accidents, after clubbing some people got raped, some people contracted diseases, some ended up in police in prison.

The devils and the devils agents powers are more active at night, from 12 am to 05 am. That is why they work in the night. Don’t you wonder why night clubs only operate at night? from night to before dawn? Devils agents both male and female are sent to clubs for work, that is also their active place of work. Their work is to sleep with people, through that they can destroy or steal ones destiny, destroy marriages, break families , destroy careers, make one lose interest in God, make people barren/impotent, destroy businesses, cause hatred and rejection on people, they can also turn one into a sex slave too and also initiate others into the kingdom of satan to do the same work. And where ever these are, demons are there.

If you have been to the club you must agree that it is a very active demonic place, what happens there is the opposite of what God wants people to be, only sin is being practiced there. This also doesn’t mean every person that visits the club is demonic or is a sinner, there are innocent people that go there to have fun, dance, go there for music or just for a few drinks and return home. But how safe are you, going into a satanic altar where there’s an active portal of hell, full of devils agents acting like normal people and full of demonic spirits? My brother , my sister pray hard before going there or refrain from being there.

Barack and Michelle Obama issue powerful statements after U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade
After Roe v. Wade was overturned by the US Supreme Court, restricting women’s access to abortion, former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama reacted.

The Obamas joined other people in expressing their reactions to the decision, which many have dubbed the worst day for abortion rights in fifty years.

Barack Obama urged people to vote and “unite with the activists who’ve been sounding the alarm on abortion access for years” in a statement following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“Today, the Supreme Court not only reversed nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues — attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans,” Barack Obama wrote on Twitter and Instagram.

The statement continued: “Across the country, states have already passed bills restricting choice. If you’re looking for ways to respond, @PPFA, @USOWomen, and many other groups have been sounding the alarm on this issue for years — and will continue to be on the front lines of this fight.

“Join with the activists who’ve been sounding the alarm on abortion access for years — and act. Stand with them at a local protest. Volunteer with one of their organizations. Knock on doors for a candidate you believe in. Vote on or before November 8 and in every other election. Because in the end, if we want judges who will protect all, and not just some, of our rights, then we’ve got to elect officials committed to doing the same.”

Michelle Obama took to her own Twitter and Instagram accounts to write: “I am heartbroken – for the teenage girl, full of zest and promise, who won’t be able to finish school or live the life she wants because her state controls her reproductive decisions; for the mother of a nonviable pregnancy who is now forced to bring that pregnancy to term; for the parents watching their child’s future evaporate before their very eyes; for the health care workers who can no longer help them without risking jail time.”

See the rest of Michelle’s statement below.
