July 1, 2024

Police thwarted a robbery at Interland PUMA filling station in Lusaka’s Libala area and shot dead four criminals who were armed with an AK-47 Assault Rifle.

This happened on June 30, 2024 around 19:00 hours.

Concerned members of the public tipped Police officers that there were criminals who were about to stage a robbery at Interland PUMA filling station.

Officers from the Anti-Robbery Crack Squad Unit rushed to the scene where they found a tinted unregistered white Toyota Allion parked near to the filling station.

Officers challenged the occupants by blocking the Toyota Allion and immediately, four people, one armed with an AK-47 Assault Rifle, came out and scampered in different directions before the Toyota Allion sped off.

The suspects were met by bullets and sustained fatal gunshot wounds.

They were rushed to the University Teaching Hospital where they were all declared deceased.

An AK-47 rifle with three rounds of ammunitions was recovered.

The bodies of the four deceased are in the same Hospital mortuary awaiting formal identification.

A manhunt for the other suspects and the Toyota Allion has been launched.
