SILAVWE CAUTIONS MUSAMBA OVER PURGING IN THE POLICE SERVICE
We wish to strongly differ with the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Graphel Musamba’s that there’s no such thing as “politically inclined cops.” This is nothing more than a political witch-hunt in the police service.
IG Musamba’s statement is extremely intimidatory to his officers. We find it extremely difficult to fathom that such a statement can come from a professional Chief of Police. All the police officers in Zambia are Zambians and the law is clear on how to deal with an erring officer.
We see his statement as mere pretext to escalate the on-going national wide ‘purge’ of civil servants characteristic of the new dawn administration. We condemn the IG’s statement in the strongest words possible because we understand it’s undertone.
If IG Musamba can hunt his own officers in this manner, to the extent of calling them junkies, how about simple Zambians who hold divergent views from the UPND or himself?
Rather the IG must concern himself with making his service more professional to serve every Zambian without any form of political biasness as opposed to what we are currently witnessing under his leadership.

Actually the exercise is long overdue. Police officers who joined the service with fake papers or merely as party members or because they were related to some ruling party official MUST BE KICKED OUT OF THE SERVICE.
Mr. Silavwe in what capacity do you speak? Cause your ka Party is no public representation nor any members. So mule kutuma kawti you speak for Zambians. The IG is backed by the law, manje imwe,who is behind your audacity?
