STUDENTS WELCOME REINTRODUCTION OF MEAL ALLOWANCES

Students from the Copperbelt University have welcomed the re-introduction of meal allowances by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA that was abolished by the PF Government.


Copperbelt University Students Union- CBU Prime Minister Bright Ngalamaika says students are happy that President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has fulfilled his campaign promise on meal allowances.


Mr. Ngalamaika said the real definition of leadership is the ability to fulfill the promises made and President Hichilema has demonstrated sound leadership.


And COBUSU President Castrol Mulilo said for the past four years, students had been facing challenges to have a reasonable meal and this affected their academic work. He said with with the reintroduction of meal allowances, the challenges were a thing of the past.
Mr Mulilo revealed that by Friday, 10th February, 2023, all eligible students had received their meal and book allowances.
And COBUSU Students Union Minister of Entertainment and Recreation, Alice Macholi, commended President Hichilema for reinstating meal allowances.


She said since the scrapping off of meal allowances by the previous government, students were subjected to difficulties especially the females.


During the presentation of the 2023 National Budget, Minister of Finance and National Planning Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane announced the reinstatement of meal allowances for students in public Universities.
