ZNS ONLY INSTITUTION ALLOWED TO CULTIVATE CANNABIS — LIEUTETANT GEN. SOLOCHI

Zambia National Service (ZNS) Commander Lieutenant General, Maliti Solochi says his wing is the only institution mandated to grow cannabis in the country.

Solochi states that Chief Sekute in Southern Province’s Kazaungula district has already given ZNS 20-thousand hectares of land for cannabis plantations.

He says all is in place for the growing of cannabis and what is remaining is orientation of the units on the aspirations of the new government.

Solochi says ZNS is following the four pillars from the President’s speech which includes training, enhancement of national food security, infrastructure development and contributing to the economic growth.

However, last week Green Party President Peter Sinkamba questioned the move by ZNS to set up cannabis plantations.

Sinkamba disclosed that there is need regulatory consultations to be conducted and approved by stakeholders.
