16 YEAR OLD RUSANGU SECONDARY SCHOOL PUPIL ELECTROCUTED IN DORMITORY

A Grade 12 pupil at Rusangu Secondary School has died after falling from the top of the wall demarcating dormitory cubes following an electrocution.

Southern Province Acting Commissioner of Police, Alfred Nawa, who confirmed the occurrence to Byta FM News has identified the female deceased pupil as Mooya Choonde, aged 16.

Nawa explains that this occurred on Wednesday, 23rd March, 2022 around 14:00 Hours at Rusangu Secondary school’s Dorm five, in Monze.

He narrates that Choonde came from washing her clothes, after which she started chatting with her dorm mates, and as she attempted to jump to the next room of a friend, she got stuck by the roof plunks.

Nawa says the deceased, while holding on to the roof plunks got electrocuted by a naked electricity wire which is on top of the wall demarcating the rooms as per design.

He adds that the pupil later fell down the approximately three meters wall and sustained a deep cut on the head, coupled with a bleeding mouth, with her toes on her left leg becoming black following the electrocution.

The incidence was reported to Rusangu Police Post by Abel Paradza, School Head Teacher for Rusangu Secondary School.
