Another UPND official in Chipata suffer a fire attack.

BARELY three days after the residence of opposition UPND, United Party for National Development Provincial Chairperson, Johabi Mtonga was attacked, another UPND official in the province has suffered a fire attack, after the fence at his residence was set alight by unknown people.

Former National Management Committee Member Michael Chuzu suffered an attack by unknown people who were also throwing stones at his house around 02:00 hours yesterday.

Chuzu told Breeze FM News in an interview that the attackers he suspected to be his political opponents, later poured petrol on the fence and set his grass thatched fence on fire.

He says the suspects only ran away after he called for police help.

And UPND National Vice Chairman Andrew Banda described the attacks on the two-party officials as a pure act of intimidation by political opponents.

Mr Banda appealed to the police command to investigate and arrest those behind the attack.
And when contacted for a comment, Eastern Province Police Commissioner Geza Lungu confirmed having received a report of arson from Chuzu.

Lungu says investigations into the matter have been instituted and warned all those who are in a habit of committing this type of crime to stop or face arrest.
