By Memory Nyambe

The Christian Churches Monitoring Group (CCMG) has noted with concern that the 2021 general elections were marred with various irregularities.

Speaking at the launch of the 2021 elections observation comprehensive report in Lusaka, CCMG steering committee Chairperson Fr. Emmanuel Chikoya, has cited harassment, intimidation of the journalists and political party violence among other key issues.

He notes that the implementation of the Public order Act on contesting parties exposed the extent to which laws failed to promote civic participation especially on campaigns amid the pandemic.

Fr. Chikoya has since called on government to pay attention to constitutional and legislative reforms while prioritizing those that affect the management of elections.
