The clampdown on civil liberties continues in @HHichilema’s #Zambia. Police have violated the rights to peaceful assembly and free speech by refusing to allow the main opposition Patriotic Front to hold a public rally in Lusaka this weekend.
The excuse is unspecified ‘security concerns’. Had Edgar Lungu banned a political rally for such vague reasons, Western diplomats and civil society would have been outraged. Today, these groups are silent!
