COST OF LIVING JUMPS TO K9,550!

According to the Jesuit Center for Theological Reflection (JCTR), the cost of living for a family of 5 in Lusaka stands at K9,553.

The beginning of the year 2024 has been marked by a deepening crisis as previously anticipated by the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR) in December 2023. This crisis repeatedly poses a threat to human dignity which underscores the significance and worth of every individual.

It is crucial to recognise that having a life where individuals can afford their basic needs such as food and shelter is a cardinal aspect of human dignity.

The cost of living as measured by the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR) Basic Needs and Nutrition Basket for Lusaka stood at K9, 049.25 for the month of January 2022, a K689.45 increase in comparison to the December, 2021 basket that stood at K8, 359.80. This signifies an 8.24percent increase in the cost of living between December 2021 and January 2022.
