COURT OF APPEAL DENIES FORMER STATE HOUSE AIDE BAIL

THE Court of Appeal has denied former State House Political Advisor, Chris Zumani Zimba and three others an application for bail pending trial.
Dr. Zumani and three others are charged with terrorism.
Court of appeal Deputy President, Chalwe Mchenga dismissed an appeal for bail pending trial by Dr. Zimba and his co -accused Given Phiri, Marlone Banda and Portipher Gwai.
Justice Mchenga ruled that the Court of Appeal has no jurisdiction to entertain an appeal for bail pending trial once the High Court dismisses the application.
Dr. Zimba and his co-accused had appealed to the Court of Appeal after High Court Judge Conceptor Zulu quashed their application for bail pending trial, last month.
Justice Zulu ruled that the terrorism charge slapped on Dr. Zimba and his co-accused is not bailable.
