DPP Siyunyi a victim of ruthless Machiavellian operation – Mpombo

5LILIAN Siyunyi is a victim of a ruthless machiavellian operation and campaign of calumny, says George Mpombo.
Last Wednesday, President Hakainde Hichilema suspended the Director of Public Prosecutions and appointmented Katongo Waluzimba as acting DPP for administrative convenience.
President Hichilema said in suspending Siyunyi, he was acting on recommendations contained in a report presented to him by the Judicial Complaints Commission (JCC).
But Mpombo, who served as defence minister under president Levy Mwanawasa, said Siyunyi has been shabbily treated and sacrificed at the altar of cheap political expedience.
“Her suspension is lugbrious as the commission (JCC) has been hell-bent and frothing at its mouth right from the start. She is a victim of a ruthless machiavellian operation and a vicious campaign of calumny. While refusing to lift her oath of secrecy so that she can defend herself and let the cat out of the bag, the state has also demonstrated corrosive hatred and bitterness by constantly haranguing her and stripping her of office entitlements,” he said. “Siyunyi is a woman of indomitable mien and of spectacular pluck and grit and she will definitely be vindicated as having been a victim of the ‘gallery of infanmy and political treachery’. A victim of bungling government operation failure in the [former KCM liquidator] Milingo Lungu saga.”
Mpombo noted the Buddhists’ saying that, “only three things cannot be hidden, the moon, the sun and the truth”.
