FAZ DENIES FEATURING SENIOR NATIONAL TEAM IN U23 TOURNAMENT IN TURKEY

FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) has rubbished assertions that the national team played in an Under-23 tournament while in Turkey during the FIFA international window. FAZ general secretary Adrian Kashala said in an interview yesterday that people that were spreading such information on social media were doing so out of malice.

“The Zambia team is not part of the said U-23 tournament. Malawi were in Zambia and acquired their Turkish visas from here and the notion they gave us was they are going there with their national team and also no agreement was made with our agent to play in an U-23 tournament… We want to rubbish the assertions that Zambia were competing in an U-23 tournament. I don’t know how that can make sense when we only played two games. How then can a winner be determined? It doesn’t make sense,” Kashala said.

A fixture circulated on social media for an Antalya Africa Cup citing Zambia to play Congo, Liberia against Benin, Togo pitted against Sierra Leone, Togo U-23 against Tajikistan U-23 and Kuwait U-23 verses Malawi U-23.
