GOVERNMENT EFFORTS TO STABILIZE MEALIE MEAL PRICE COMMENDABLE

Government’s efforts through ZNS and Zambia Correctional Service to provide cheaper and affordable mealie meal in an effort to mitigate the escalating mealie meal price in the short and medium term is highly commendable.
We are also alive to the Government’s tacit commitment to reducing the high cost of living, especially mealie meal price in the shortest possible time.
Further, we are comforted by the ZNS and the Correctional Service facilities’ plans to fully utilize state farms to ramp up maize production by increasing manpower and machinery to do such work.
Indeed, such measures will impact positively on the availability of cheaper and affordable mealie meal on the market.
More so, we expect all patriotic citizens to support government efforts by refraining from engaging in bulk buying mealie meal at a cheaper price from the said institutions’ outlets and re-sale at an exorbitant price, a situation that defeats government’s good intentions meant to benefit citizens in the short and medium term.
All in all, we are confident that government will not let down citizens given long term measures already in place to help stabilize the cost of living in the country.
