Chief Government spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa said government has evacuated outspoken PF member of the central committee Chishimba Kambwili to South Africa for specialised medical attention.
Confirming the development yesterday Mr. Mweetwa , who is also Minister of Information and Broadcasting said that Mr Kambwili was evacuated.
He said it is government ‘s responsibility to look after all Zambian regardless of their social-economic status.
The Minister has dispelled assertions circulating on social media alleging that the Government has neglected to assist Chishimba Kambwili because he belongs to the opposition.
The government spokesperson maintained that the health of a person is a private matter that should not be politised by anyone.
Mr Kambwili was recently deported to Zambia from Zimbabwe and was receiving treatment at Maina Soko Hospital in Lusaka.
Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo assured the nation that government was making frantic efforts to evacuate Mr KambwilI.

Clearly, though it is the responsibility of the government to to take care of citizens’ health, politicians get preferential treatment over ordinary folk.
I am sure there are many deserving people who have been on the waiting list for medical attention abroad who Mr. Kambwili has jumped over because of his status.
As long as politicians are accorded priority over ordinary citizens, our health facilities will not be improved. We are so shortsighted that we would rather spend colossal sums of money seeking treatment abroad than equipping our hospitals to handle such cases.
I remember a former minister of transport in the last regime (PF) who broke his arm and spent two or three months in a South African hospital at taxpayers expense. He even went to the extent of posting photos of him and some female nursing staff on Facebook.
We are utterly shameless!
The former Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, was in a coma for about 10 years. He spent all those 10 years in an Israeli hospital being cared for by his own. That is how serious national leaders live out their values.
But then what values do our leaders possess other than self preservation?
