IMF SOCIAL MEDIA REPORT FALSE

Reports suggesting that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has refused to give the Zambian government a rescue package are false, Parliament heard yesterday.

Minister of Finance and National Planning Situmbeko Musokotwane says talks with the IMF are progressing well.

Dr Musokotwane said this in response to Matero Member of Parliament (MP) Miles Sampa (PF) on social media reports that the IMF has refused to give Government a bailout programme.

“It is all fake, fake news. I can assure you that the programme will go through because we are managing things well and the cooperating partners are appreciating. Be comforted that the IMF is coming, whatsoever.
