Senior chief Nkula of Chinsali district had given the Patriotic Front (PF) specific demands on who should and not be adopted in Muchinga Province.

A letter obtained by Daily Revelation revealed that chief Nkula instructed the PF secretary general Davies Mwila and the entire Central Committee, which is chaired by President Edgar Lungu to adopt parliamentary candidates with whom he relates well if the party was to be victorious in the August 12 general election.

“In my chiefdom, I want His Excellency Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu to win with a very big margin in the August 12 general election and for this to happen, you need to adopt parliamentary candidates who are very popular,” chief Nkula’s letter read in part.

He specifically demanded that Steven Kampyongo, who is home affairs minister, and Kalalwe Mukosa be adopted as candidates for Shiwang’andu and Chinsali central constituencies respectively.

“The most popular and suitable candidates that can help shrink the opposition’s breathing space are Hon. Steven Kapmyongo and Hon. Kalalwe Mukosa for Shiwang’andu and Chinsali central constituencies respectively, “ stated the traditional leader. “By and large, I have worked well with these two and it is my desire to continue working with them because it is my belief that you (PF) do not change a winning team.”

The PF has left out ministers such as Works and Supply minister Sylvia Chalikosa, second deputy speaker of the National Assembly, Mwimba Malama, Muchinga Province minister Malozo Sichone, and many other area members of parliament in the province – in favour of new faces.
