LUBUSHA IS RIGHT, MPs CAN’T IMPLEMENT CDF WITHOUT ACKNOWLEDGING GOVERNMENT

THE mighty Patriotic Front seems to be slowly aligning on the path of disintegration. The cracks are widening and the bolts that have been keeping it together appear to be falling apart. Accusations and counter accusations are becoming more aggressive. Word on the streets is that former president Edgar Lungu, who holds the record for the worst election defeat, is moving fast to form another political party. Some MPs seem tired with the endless back and forth which is not giving any hope for the future.

In an organisation where there is no leadership or direction, members tend to lose patience and trust. It is no wonder PF officials in Eastern Province are up in arms, one trying to oust the other on allegations of treachery.

Patriotic Front Eastern Province Information and Publicity Secretary, William Phiri wants his provincial chairman Andrew Lubusha removed from his position because he cannot be trusted anymore. Mr Phiri claims that Honourable Lubusha has been enticing PF councilors to defect to the ruling UPND. But in his honest response, the Chipangali lawmaker said he has a duty to fulfil government programmes that are implemented under CDF.

Andrew LUBUSHA: “You know these guys what happens, when I am officiating at CDF projects as guest of honour, speeches are written by the local authority and local government goes through them to make sure that we don’t scandalise them, and claim to do the projects that are government projects. Then secondly, even us, my personal instinct, I can’t afford to lie…

  1. When PF were implementing development programmes, we were being told there was no need for PF to get credit for this because it was what PF were voted for and expected to do. Why should it be different with CDF? Is it also not GRZ money? Why should UPND get the credit for it? Let us be consisten in our political discourse. MP Lubusha needs reminding. We are already in the political season.
