LUSAKA POLICE ARREST MAN FOR GOING TO COURT ARMED WITH PISTOL UNDER UNCLEAR CIRCUMSTANCES

A 36-year-old man of Lusaka’s Zingalume township has been detained in police custody after he went armed with a gun at the Lusaka magistrate courts.

It is unknown why Peter Kashala went armed with a pistol to the court premises, but police received intelligence and sprung into action.

The pistol in the suspects possession also had 15 rounds of ammunition.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said police through the Anti Robbery squad received the intelligence from an informant around 10:10 hours.

“The Anti-Robbery squad yesterday received intelligence information from an informant around 10:10 hours that there was a person who was armed at Lusaka magistrate Court complex. Acting on the matter officers made a follow up and managed to apprehend one suspect Peter Kashala aged 36 of house number 1001 Zingalume township who was found in possession of a pistol Gisan Compact MC bearing serial number T6368-19B00067 with 15 rounds of ammunition,” he said.

Mr Hamoonga added that the suspect has since been detained for the offence of going armed in public and will appear in court soon.
