MALAWI REQUESTS ZAMBIA DEFENCE FORCE FOR RESCUE MISSION AFTER CYCLONE FREDDY LEFT CHAOS
MALAWI Government has turned to neighbouring Zambia for their defence force to reinforce Malawi Defence Force rescue mission on victims of Cyclone Freddy which wreaked havoc since Friday last week.
Minister of Defence Harry Mkandawire made the remarks in Chilobwe on Wednesday after President Lazarus Chakwera visited a number of sites where the victims are camping in Blantyre.
He said they have asked the Zambian government to provide helicopters as some areas are impassable and cannot be accessed due to the damaged roads as well and bridges.
This is what friends are for and should do. Nobel request by Malawi. Am sure Zambia has responded positively.
